Never in the history of tv can I think of a time where the studio offered the show makers essentially a blank cheque book, more time, more episodes, even seasons if they wanted it. And the writers just said nah mate we cool.
They didn't take the star wars offer and went off to Netflix for cash anyways cause they couldn't think of anything original to write (star wars was not an adaptation) and pitched a bunch of bad shows to Netflix until Netflix got sick of them and just gave them more books to adapt Which is funny since they ditched game of thrones to try being original and just weren't capable of it

I think there were like 8,000 Unsullied at the beginning of the series when they first appear and they have multiple battles and then the long night happens and most of them are killed. And literally all the Dothraki are killed during the long night except for like five to ten of them. And these are non-replenishable amies. There are no more Dothraki and Unsullied because they don't recruit new people into their ranks. So how tf are there like 900 million of them in the season finale?
Actually in the book, Dothrakis has approximately 200.000 soldiers. In the long night, We saw only 3-4 thousands Dothrakis. Daenerys could take in tow the other Dothrakis because Dothrakis aren't familiar to cold climate but DnD is dumb enough to not know Dothrakis has more number of soldiers than all 7 Kingdoms.

Even fans of the show who previously recomended the show to friends were frantically taking it back. I feel sorry for the actors and everyone involved, they thought they were apart of something great but it was really a D+ series with a high budget at absolute best. The emberassment is definitely there.
I feel bad for my friend since he is just watching the whole show straight from season 1 to 8... God it is going to suck when he reaches the final season and that excitement just dies. Then again, the people who watched since season 1 and waited a year or two for the next one I feel had it worse.
Cyanide no he clearly wasn’t punished. Him going beyond the wall with the wildlings and Ghost couldn’t have been a better ending for him with how this season went. That being said, despite Jon’s ending. The season overall is still trash as well as the finale. I love how you think you know what people think who didn’t like the show. The ending wasn’t the issue really. It was the build up to it that sucked.

Or how they built up the Night King and the army of the dead only for them to be defeated in one episode, with almost all of the main cast surviving. It's almost as if D&D have no concept of set-up and payoff.

2 years late, but the main issue is that George has two more one-thousand plus page books to explore and develop these characters and have them reach their final conclusion. D&D tried to do all that in 1 season.
I think what's most torturous is _they didn't have to._ HBO handed them a blank check for a ten-episode season and potentially more seasons, and they passed so they could rush it and get to Star Wars, only to lose that contract.

Season 7 was a 3/10, managed to completely kill the show. Episode 6 was the point of no return, single handledly destroying everything the show had built, but the first few episodes were dope. Season 8 is a 0/10. Absolutely nothing redeemeble.

After season 5, D&D were given a lot more creative control. George wanted to distance himself from the show after around season 4. My favourite part was when Tyrion goes to find Jaime and Cersei in the rubble, and when he finds them and moves away all the rubble, their skulls are completely intact, and faces completely unharmed with not a single broken bone, after being crushed under a massive falling stone ceiling.
That + the fact that in the death scene it seemed like the whole castle fell burying their corpses several meters in the ground... Then Tyrion comes, removes 2 stones and ups they are there!

You could argue from the point of view of the books that it makes sense Bran would be king. The first book opens on Bran's perspective, and Bran's story, in the books, is about the mythical underpinnings of the world. But the writers of the show deliberately downplay the Fantasy element of this show and therefore turned Bran into a fucking fart vapor in the background starting with when they just left him out of season 5 because they obviously don't like the character, and then getting worse and worse. And then George probably told them "yea I'm making Bran King". Bran is one of the best characters in the books.
EXACTLY! They intentionally downplayed Bran's role but in the end they make him king anyway? They diverted more and more from the books to the point that the ending of the books makes no sense for the series anymore. Complete failure in writing.
I imagine he'll have more of a Bloodraven-esque role. He'll be influencing events from afar, just like Bloodraven. I'll be surprised if he ever even leaves that cave.

I think there were like 8,000 Unsullied at the beginning of the series when they first appear and they have multiple battles and then the long night happens and most of them are killed. And literally all the Dothraki are killed during the long night except for like five to ten of them. And these are non-replenishable amies. There are no more Dothraki and Unsullied because they don't recruit new people into their ranks.
So how tf are there like 900 million of them in the season finale?
I was also wondering how the fuck the 8000 unsullied she got in the beginning kept on growing throughout the show.
Actually in the book, Dothrakis has approximately 200.000 soldiers. In the long night, We saw only 3-4 thousands Dothrakis. Daenerys could take in tow the other Dothrakis because Dothrakis aren't familiar to cold climate but DnD is dumb enough to not know Dothrakis has more number of soldiers than all 7 Kingdoms.

Even fans of the show who previously recomended the show to friends were frantically taking it back. I feel sorry for the actors and everyone involved, they thought they were apart of something great but it was really a D+ series with a high budget at absolute best. It's kinda like how they built up Cersei's armies and the threat of the Golden Company only to have Daenerys wipe them out in five minutes. Or how they built up the Night King and the army of the dead only for them to be defeated in one episode, with almost all of the main cast surviving. It's almost as if D&D have no concept of set-up and payoff.

My favourite scene of the season is the Brienne scene where she writes about Jaimie's acomplishments. There were some genuinely not awful character moments. But they got so bogged down by all the horrible shit that it's hard to even praise

Highlight of the season.
2 years late, but the main issue is that George has two more one-thousand plus page books to explore and develop these characters and have them reach their final conclusion. D&D tried to do all that in 1 season.
I think what's most torturous is _they didn't have to._ HBO handed them a blank check for a ten-episode season and potentially more seasons, and they passed so they could rush it and get to Star Wars, only to lose that contract.
It's been years since this show ended yet I'm still so pissed at it that I still enjoy going back and watching countless videos ragging on it. What infuriates me the most though is that D&D won six emmys over this shit. Literally the only thing they did that is praise worthy is how they managed to kill this shows entire fanbase so quickly. Even their Mad Danaerys would be proud and envious.

My favourite part was when Tyrion goes to find Jaime and Cersei in the rubble, and when he finds them and moves away all the rubble, their skulls are completely intact, and faces completely unharmed with not a single broken bone, after being crushed under a massive falling stone ceiling.
Not even that had me as mad as when if they MOVED ONE FUCKING STEP TO THE LEFT they would be alive🤬
That + the fact that in the death scene it seemed like the whole castle fell burying their corpses several meters in the ground... Then Tyrion comes, removes 2 stones and ups they are there!

You could argue from the point of view of the books that it makes sense Bran would be king. The first book opens on Bran's perspective, and Bran's story, in the books, is about the mythical underpinnings of the world. But the writers of the show deliberately downplay the Fantasy element of this show and therefore turned Bran into a fucking fart vapor in the background starting with when they just left him out of season 5 because they obviously don't like the character, and then getting worse and worse. And then George probably told them "yea I'm making Bran King". Bran is one of the best characters in the books.
EXACTLY! They intentionally downplayed Bran's role but in the end they make him king anyway? They diverted more and more from the books to the point that the ending of the books makes no sense for the series anymore. Complete failure in writing.
I imagine he'll have more of a Bloodraven-esque role. He'll be influencing events from afar, just like Bloodraven. I'll be surprised if he ever even leaves that cave.
The problem with critiques about how awful this season was is it falls on deaf ears. D and D said in an interview that they dont care about the criticism because they made a show they want to watch. A true middle finger to the fans!
