There is soooo much more to this than a list of foods. On other videos, it’s probably ok to just list whatever’s listed in the video because they’re all fluff and surface material without substance. But Dr Ekberg’s vids are different - they’re a deeper dive. You really need to watch the entire video for all the information he gives about how things work and the whys and wherefores of items in his lists. Posting just a list really is a disservice to Dr Ekberg and to everyone else.

THANK YOU!!! Can't watch the video at the moment, so a thumbnail sketch is VERY helpful. Astonishing that there are people are giving you grief for this. I'm interested in more details, of course- but I immediately just wanted to know the LIST, just like I might not read a book right away, but I'll read the back of it, & read the chapter titles- it helps & provides good information ipso facto.

My primary care Dr. and others I've seen for minor surgeries did not have a discussion about kidneys, diet, foods or that pre diabetes and high blood pressure could damage my kidneys. I've been seeing them all for 20 years. All they did was load me up with many medications that made my kidneys worse. Thank God for you Dr. Elbert. You are educating people before they damage themselves with all the Meds and bad food.

Dr Ekberg, thank you for another amazing video. We don't often think about our kidneys and the vital role they play. As a nurse, I've witnessed how diabetes affects the kidneys, seeing so many of my clients go to dialysis 3 times a week. I believe many doctors go about treating diabetes the wrong way. Instead of reviewing their patient's diets, they usually just increase insulin dosages. In my eyes, you are and always will be the ultimate health champion, and I'm honored to look up to you as a teacher 😊

It was a good video actually, BUT he sees this through the lens of his paleo/keto type diet, docs have reversed kidney disease using a LOW FAT vegan type diet, insulin resistance reversed and BP down, so he is right when he says BP (high and too low) affects the kidneys and Insulin resistance damage the tiny tubules BUT then comes the SALE, or the keto or paleo diet, everybody knows the SAD diet is killing and has been killing us and so Keto diet is an improvement for sure, one girl was on healthy low carb for 6 yrs and kidney health deteriorated went on raw vegan diet and all her bloods reversed, type 1 diabetic as well, her albumin/creatinine ratio 290 after low carb, 37 after 8 months raw vegan, still not cured but almost there. She was eating 25g and upped carbs to 200g, try telling this to the keto guys, they'll say its a one off, but it is not.

@@SciSciToys Not everyone reacts positively to Vegan diets and especially not with Raw Vegan. I personally know many who’s health problems worsened. Each and every single person needs and individual strategy, for some vegan, vegatarian or Keto could be the answer. I find it a bit nasty to imply that Dr. Ekberg is biased in anyway. He obviously has also treated many patients successfully. Interesting how most „Keto-People“ accept & respect vegans or vegatarians and never attack them for what they believe. But seriously I see no acceptance the other way around. Sad ehh?

You know it is really sad that doctors don't know squat, I have a friend with kidney issues- the advice to her was=I wouldn't worry just yet. We'll wait until things get worse and then we'll see what to do about it. And she just sits there and waits. I have sent her information, but she is waiting on that doctor. This doctor should have the license to practice medicine revoked. Another good Doctor that I listen to is Dr. Eric Berg. Find him on you tube, he does a lot of nutritional as well as educational videos. There is one on kidney health. That is how I found Dr. Ekberg. Wishing you the best on the road to recovery. If you have not yet done so, request or pay out of pocket and get the APOe Genotype Blood Test done. This will tell you what type of genotype you are. This is essential toward a healthy diet. Kudos to you doctor Ekberg for helping millions of people. Regarding your topic today, question regarding CKD. I know you cannot really heal CKD to a 100% level but can you go from one level and get better (like stage 3 to stage 2 or stage 2 to stage 1)? Appreciate getting a response. Thank you.

Thank You Maryann Santos You can definitely improve from one stage to another, especially in the early stages when the kidney only has mild damage. The more it progresses, the less viable tissue there is left and it becomes increasingly more difficult. While there are many general things that a person can do to improve their health, such as reducing sugar, grain and processed foods. Some conditions are a little more complicated and require very specific analysis of the body. In my office we use Nutrition Response Testing to find and handle the root cause of the problem. 😀

I was diagnosed with stage 4 and began to break out under my arms with horrible sores. My neurologists put me on a horribly restrictive diet and I saw no improvement. I refused to start dialysis. At 74 I didn't want to end life in that way. My Health Food advisor suggested garlic and chlorophyl. I had amazing results. I'm up to stage 3b now. She told me that the chlorophyl is a great cleanser and is processed by the liver. My stool is very green, but there was no color change to my urine. My neurologists said it was only tested in mice and rats so they could not advise it for fear of being sued. My Health Food advisor asked me not to tell the doctor where I got my info because they liked to sue her even when her advise seemed to work. Would appreciate your opinion on the chlorophyl. I've found that the products based on Mulberry leaves seems to work better than the ones based on alfalfa. BTW. I'm 77 now and going strong and pretty much follow your diet suggestions. Do have a habit of Beer which I know triggers IR, but what can I say. Do luv the suds!.

I've learned from Doc Willie Ong that drinking warm water in the morning after you wake up may cure many diseases. He's a good doctor also telling people some meds can damage kidneys and also shares good news about damaged kidneys or dialysis patients getting out of it and went back to normal. And protein from plants may enough for our body and so much better to choose it than animal-based proteins.

In my recent blood test, I got a value of >60. So, thanks to your info, I know I'm in stage 2 and I need to address that. My fasting blood sugar was 112, which is not good. I'm basically prediabetic, and the high carb diet I've had all my life has messed with my blood sugar and in turn has hurt my kidneys. I now know I need to watch my carb intake and combine with intermittent fasting to give my kidneys a much needed break for healing. I have a chance to save my life through my food and my fluids. What I would love to know is if distilled water would help my kidneys out (alongside a veggie based diet of course). Would be so cool to get a response! Love your info on here!

    • @Decrepit_Productions
      @Decrepit_Productions ปีที่แล้ว +2

My last some eGFR readings, like yours, are >60. Not the best, but not yet nail-bitingly scary. That said, those same tests show my Potassium reading to be low. Just barely so, but definitely low. Whatever is causing my kidney to misbehave, it can't have anything to do with diabetics, thank goodness. I'm miles in the clean in that regard, according to years worth of test results. I'm going to have to study he doc's food recommendations in more detail. While my diet is probably less unhealthy than that of the majority of U.S. citizens, it could use improvement. One of my stumbling blocks is that, being a senior on a limited budget, some of the healthiest foods are beyond my means. (Such as limiting myself to Old Fashioned Oatmeal rather than superior Steel Cut Oatmeal. Yes, I know oatmeal isn't one of the things that matter here. It just happened to come to mind.) In any case, I wish you, both of us, the best of luck.

@@mamifuke7715 I am near 70 years old and had several problems for a few years. In 2021 they were:
      (a) stones in my right kidney (I have a history of getting stones)
      (b) my kidney EGFR was 44
      (c) I was told I was borderline diabetic (A1C 66)
      (d) I had very high cholesterol
      (e) On going high blood pressure - usually 190/95
      (f) Weighed 205 lbs. My appropriate weight should be 175 to 178 lbs.
Doctors told me to "reduce carbs intake and exercise more. They never explained in the detailed the way that Dr. Ekberg does. And since I started watching this channel and following what he recommends, I have seen significant changes.
      (1) I started putting a little lime or lemon juice in EVERY glass of water that I drink.
      (2) I stopped drinking sugary drinks - not even diet drinks.
      (3) I drink about a half glass of orange juice ONCE PER WEEK and no more.
      (4) I stopped eating white bread and most white flour products - I mostly have whole wheat and only about 3 slices A WEEK
      (5) I stopped eating white rice, French fries and all potato products. I eat ONLY little brown rice about 2 times per week
      (6) I reduced my salt (sodium) intake
      (7) I started eating a lot of vegetables (which I never use to eat).
      (8) I walk a mile and a half EVERYDAY
      (9) I drink a cup of coffee everyday with and with milk (2% reduced fat)
      (10) I eat small amounts of selected fruits - apple or ripe banana or cantaloupe - but only 2 days per week
      (11) I did NOT change my meat consumption. I continue to eat fish, beef, chicken, salmon, bacon etc
BUT THE BIGGEST CHANGED I MADE IS how I eat. I no longer eat 3 meals a day and I do not eat snacks.
On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays I eat ONE meal per day.
Thursdays, I fast the whole day except that I drink two cups of coffee and plenty of water with lemon juice all day - NO FOOD
Fridays and Saturdays I eat two meals
Sundays is a free for all. I may eat one, or two meals depending on how I feel.
      THE RESULTS a year later:
      (a) The kidney stones are gone.
      (b) RGFR has climbed up to 65
      (c) A1C is down 55
      (d) The cholesterol levels are normal
      (e) Blood pressure every day now measures between 120/70 to 117/69
Last week after some blood works, the doctor called and said my kidneys are performing normally and is much better than the previous 65 that it was. earlier this year.

I just had a kidney transplant 6 months ago, caused by a congenital disease. I almost didn't get the transplant because I was too heavy. The surgeon said, "We'll give it a shot." That didn't inspire a ton of confidence, but I appreciated his honesty. I've been trying to follow a lot of your advice, and it's working. Down 50 pounds to 250 at 6"4". I'm obviously on immunosuppressants, and I'm wondering if your plan might strengthen my immune system TOO much. Is there any validity to this concern in your opinion? Anyway, I'm definitely healthier because of you, and it's been pretty easy cutting back to two meals. There's always a good meal to look forward to, and very little hunger. Thanks!

Your immune system can't be too strong, there's no such thing. You can overdose on some vitamins and minerals, but not most, and it doesn't cause "too strong an immune response" it would just cause some other side effects.
Just look up vitamin/mineral side effects, the water soluble ones you just pee out the extra, others like iron you don't want to go over your daily need s, etc

@@Vincent_Beers Yes, your immune can be too strong, and especially so for a transplant recipient. We take drugs to shut down our immune system. From the Cleveland Clinic:
"In general, an overactive immune system leads to many autoimmune disorders - because of hyperactive immune responses your body can't tell the difference between your healthy, normal cells and invaders. In essence, your immune system turns against you."

This is the best explanation of CKD I’ve ever seen! I’ve been searching for was to reduce CKD, but wasn’t sure if I was going in the a good direction or not. Finally, my doctor says she cannot find a problem and asked me what I was doing. I didn’t tell her, I could have said that I was eating a lemon a day. I don’t know what effect the lemon 🍋 had on me, but going to really look at this video carefully! Thank you for sharing this information!

Great video! Just wanted to add that Raspberries have the highest amount of oxalates between the berries that are mentioned, so if a person have kidney stone formation that is caused by oxalates, it should be taken in consideration too.

When I drink tea it makes my kidneys scream with pain, so I stop drinking tea. Now and then I will drink one, I was prone to kidneys stones for years. I dissolved two kidneys stones using a castor oil pack, it took about 2 months or so. Anytime my kidneys hurt I will lay on my castor oil pack, which does the treat. The only caffeine I have now is in my Bio Coffee each cup contains about .025 mg of caffeine.

Thank you for explaining this about the kidneys so well. I am concerned about the advises about turmeric and raspberries though. They are really high in oxalates, and the kidneys might get hurt from that.

i donated a kidney to my son, then years later i had a work place accident, although the doctors knew i only had one kidney and i always made it clear to each and every one of them, they prescribed me non steroidal anti inflammatory, as a result i am in stage 3, i managed to stabilise my kidney at 50ml, just coming up for my annual blood test this month, thankfully i ended up in hospital a few years ago, seemingly on the edge of death, at that time i was made aware that i shouldnt be on the anti inflammatory, that was what saved me, so far anyway, they destroyed my kidney and my hopes for the future and, when i expressed my frustration about this the doctors just shrug their shoulders as if they cant understand what i might be upset about, @#$%^&*( incompetent fools, thanks for the video Dr Sten, its the only useful information that i have been given in 8 years and i have been under a kidney specialist for the last few since my hospital stay

@@Agent-jj4cc i questioned it at the time, but, i didnt research, and thats what i should have done, you are spot on there, i when i found out i went cold turkey of the Codein based pain killers and the anti inflammatory and believe it or not, i actually had much much less inflammation after stopping the drug, but i was then prescribed Endone and Targin for the pain, i took this for a while and didnt realise that i was addicted until i ended up in hospital for 10 days, i took the opportunity to stop taking the drugs, thats when i found out i was addicted as i suffered withdrawals, but, i just fought my way through them and once again went cold turkey getting of those drugs completely, i have always tried to battle the injuries with diet and am right now trying fasting which seems to be going well, i have had very little faith in the ethics and morals of most doctors and should have been even more on alert, from that perspective it is my fault for listening to them in the first place

So sorry to hear. I have been going through the same ordeal with my 80year old mother. They loaded her up on drugs in the past 5 years causing her eGFR to drop below 30 all while her health kept declining. I spent all of 2020 researching and was able to get her off all 10 meds one by one through minor dietary modifications and using supplements, even against her doctors advice. Now her eGFR is around 50. Her nephrologist could not believe the results.
What I have learned was that while drugs suppress symptoms, they are harmful especially when used long term. We trade 1 disease for another or more when taking them. Diet, good quality supplements, fasting, correcting gut microbiome will help do more than any drug could. The body always wants to heal and repair itself, including the kidneys. It's just really a matter of how we can help it do that.
To replace opioids there are safer natural options. Kava, kratom to name a couple that some ppl transition to then ween off. High dose vitamin C also works well as an anti-inflammatory. Some doctors use it to treat covid patients with much success.
