There is soooo much more to this than a list of foods. On other videos, it’s probably ok to just list whatever’s listed in the video because they’re all fluff and surface material without substance. But Dr Ekberg’s vids are different - they’re a deeper dive. You really need to watch the entire video for all the information he gives about how things work and the whys and wherefores of items in his lists. Posting just a list really is a disservice to Dr Ekberg and to everyone else.

I'm interested in more details, of course- but I immediately just wanted to know the LIST, just like I might not read a book right away, but I'll read the back of it, & read the chapter titles- it helps & provides good information ipso facto.

My primary care Dr. and others I've seen for minor surgeries did not have a discussion about kidneys, diet, foods or that pre diabetes and high blood pressure could damage my kidneys. I've been seeing them all for 20 years. All they did was load me up with many medications that made my kidneys worse. Thank God for you Dr. Elbert. You are educating people before they damage themselves with all the Meds and bad food.

i donated a kidney to my son, then years later i had a work place accident, although the doctors knew i only had one kidney and i always made it clear to each and every one of them, they prescribed me non steroidal anti inflammatory, as a result i am in stage 3, i managed to stabilise my kidney at 50ml, just coming up for my annual blood test this month, thankfully i ended up in hospital a few years ago, seemingly on the edge of death, at that time i was made aware that i shouldnt be on the anti inflammatory, that was what saved me, so far anyway, they destroyed my kidney and my hopes for the future and, when i expressed my frustration about this the doctors just shrug their shoulders as if they cant understand what i might be upset about, @#$%^&*( incompetent fools, thanks for the video Dr Sten, its the only useful information that i have been given in 8 years and i have been under a kidney specialist for the last few since my hospital stay

So sorry to hear. I have been going through the same ordeal with my 80year old mother. They loaded her up on drugs in the past 5 years causing her eGFR to drop below 30 all while her health kept declining. I spent all of 2020 researching and was able to get her off all 10 meds one by one through minor dietary modifications and using supplements, even against her doctors advice. Now her eGFR is around 50. Her nephrologist could not believe the results.
What I have learned was that while drugs suppress symptoms, they are harmful especially when used long term. We trade 1 disease for another or more when taking them. Diet, good quality supplements, fasting, correcting gut microbiome will help do more than any drug could. The body always wants to heal and repair itself, including the kidneys. It's just really a matter of how we can help it do that.
To replace opioids there are safer natural options. Kava, kratom to name a couple that some ppl transition to then ween off. High dose vitamin C also works well as an anti-inflammatory. Some doctors use it to treat covid patients with much success.

Dr Ekberg, thank you for another amazing video. We don't often think about our kidneys and the vital role they play. As a nurse, I've witnessed how diabetes affects the kidneys, seeing so many of my clients go to dialysis 3 times a week. I believe many doctors go about treating diabetes the wrong way. Instead of reviewing their patient's diets, they usually just increase insulin dosages. In my eyes, you are and always will be the ultimate health champion, and I'm honored to look up to you as a teacher 😊

It was a good video actually, BUT he sees this through the lens of his paleo/keto type diet, docs have reversed kidney disease using a LOW FAT vegan type diet, insulin resistance reversed and BP down, so he is right when he says BP (high and too low) affects the kidneys and Insulin resistance damage the tiny tubules BUT then comes the SALE, or the keto or paleo diet, everybody knows the SAD diet is killing and has been killing us and so Keto diet is an improvement for sure, one girl was on healthy low carb for 6 yrs and kidney health deteriorated went on raw vegan diet and all her bloods reversed, type 1 diabetic as well, her albumin/creatinine ratio 290 after low carb, 37 after 8 months raw vegan, still not cured but almost there. She was eating 25g and upped carbs to 200g, try telling this to the keto guys, they'll say its a one off, but it is not.

Each and every single person needs and individual strategy, for some vegan, vegatarian or Keto could be the answer. I find it a bit nasty to imply that Dr. Ekberg is biased in anyway. He obviously has also treated many patients successfully. Interesting how most „Keto-People“ accept & respect vegans or vegatarians and never attack them for what they believe. Dr. Ekberg. I found your channel 3 weeks ago. I immediately started on the keto diet, after having recently been weighed in at my doctor at 226 lbs. I'm 63, 5'7". I was always the thinnest person in my family until my 50's. Since watching your videos, I've been eating a low carb, high protein diet: keto, cutting out the sugar for these past two weeks. Yesterday I went back to my doctor for a checkup and low and behold, lost 7lbs! I'm down to 219 and I'm gonna keep trucking along with IMF and keto diet until I get back down to my best weight of 140lbs!!
I can't thank you enough for your "customer friendly" learning videos, because they are so easily understandable that anyone can get back into shape! I've learned that when you get fat, you forget how to eat right again to get back to the healthy weight you once had as a younger person. And I didn't exercise at all Dr. E!! I have heart failure and tested positive for CV two weeks ago. It took my breath away and made me exhausted doing the slightest thing like brushing my hair. So exercise couldn't be done. I just wanted to reach out and let you know that you are saving lives! You're saving mine! I'm crying now. Thank you so much! God bless you!

@BEWARE T. You can still exercise but you have to be a bit more careful about it. Look up sitting exercises and standing pilates or pilates on a mat. Those exercise forms are generally light on the heart and the body.
You can do further good things for yourself and your body by doing your exercises in the form of a Tabata. It is normally called a HIIT high intensity interval training form. BUT you can still get most of the benefits of a Tabata even if you do it sitting or lying down on a mat.
What is Tabata? You train concentrated for 20 seconds and the do some light and peaceful movement for an active rest and recuperate period of 10 seconds. You repeat it for a total of 8 times. It adds up to 4 minutes per Tabata.
When you do a full on superintense Tabata it is seen as equivalent or equal to a 30 minutes long continuous training session. Look up the origins of this. Tabata come from Dr Izumi Tabata who was training the Japanese Olympic speed skating and he got really good results with different kinds of HIIT.
You can do several Tabata back to back. There are Tabata counters online and apps for phones and tablets. There are several training channels here on you tube that have good and easy exercises. One example is Imi Bigans yoga. Search for sitting pilates or other good key word and you will find a lot to choose from. Build your own exercise blocks and own them. Train and rest in between exercise sessions. That is also important. The rest period will make the body do the major rebuilding. .

    Dr. Ekberg
Hello. I've been very upset with the medical system for awhile
    now.
My kidney filtration rate has been 38 or under for over ten years now, and not one single Dr. That has ever done labs on me has ever told me I was in stage 3 kidney failure. So I didn't do anthing about my levels, l didnt worry about them. The doctors sure didnt. So then last month my kidney labs hit 22.
My Dr treated it as no big deal and got me into see a nephronologist 3 WEEKS later.
No instructions as to what I should do in the mean time.
They treated this just like it was no big deal.
I've been researching now and have discovered how arcaic their treat ment for CKD is.
Our medical system has failed CKD patients so badly Dr. Eberg.
I'm so glad I found your program. Thank you. You're like a ray of light in all the darkness. Thank you.

The good thing is my BP and weight is normal. So I'm now doing intermittent fasting and dialing back on my sweets and protein. Thanks much for the great information, God bless you!

Hi, I'm 43 and state 3b of CKD. I was diagnosed at 30. For almost 10 years i was in closed danger of crossing to stage 4 with my eGFR starting at 34 going down to 30 over the years. On my 40th birthday i decided to go vegan. It weren't easy at first, but after my first blood test as a vegan my gGFR was 42. I never looked back. It's been over 3 years now, I'm following whole foods, plant based diet and my eGFR keeps around 42-44 level. And my hypertension medication was just reduced to the lowest possible level. I'm so happy i tried changing what I eat instead of just relaying on medication

Can you please explain what could be the potential connection between the thyroid and the kidneys? My mother long long time ago, maybe 35-40 years ago, was in the hospital for a year and a half and doctors did not know what was wrong. I saw her go from a normal weight to totally blown up from water retention to maybe 100 kgs and then I saw her go down to 38 kgs looking totally frail and being sent home to die basically. She could not eat anything at all, everything even a bite of a banana or a little lettuce or soup it would just come right back out if she tried. She was falling over when she was walking she was so weak already, I still have this image in my head as if it was yesterday. Lost all her hair as well, was really hard to watch. Everyone was prepared for her to die, I also overheard the hospital doctors telling my father exactly that, but he refused to accept that. He took her to different hospitals trying to find doctors who could find out what was going on. I remember so many times at our church they had a service for her, all the people praying at mass. But doctors could not figure out what was wrong. In between all of this she had a pulmonary embolism and God knows what else. Both of her kidneys stopped working and she had to have dialysis every day for almost a year. I might be messing up the timelines as I was still pretty young age when this happened. And I remember at some stage they also cut out almost half of her left lung. Then the strangest thing happened, they decided to operate again and take out her thyroid.. she had always been a little towards hypothyroid and had a bit of a goiter but it was never much of an issue. And suddenly after her thyroid was removed, all returned to normal. Both of her kidneys started working again and she started coming back to life. Was able to eat again and within a short period of time back to her old self. No more dialysis, nothing. Body sorted itself out so it seems. After all this ordeal did not even have to take any pills or medications, well one, thyroid hormone to replace the missing thyroid. After all of this she was totally fine for the next 30 years without any medical issues whatsoever. Crazy and unbelievable isn´t it?
Until now I am trying to understand the correlation and why all of this happened, what would or could have been the root cause? She was never overweight nor was she diabetic or even prediabetic, all the family we lived on a farm with fresh organic home grown foods cooked at home every day and plenty of physical activity. If she had any symptoms prior I do not think so, not sure if she would have shared that with a small kid like me, but to us she seemed completely normal. Only one day at night she said she could not breathe and her throat was getting tight and it happened two days in a row then it worried her a bit and she went to the hospital and they kept her there to run some tests. And then things just happened from there. It all had a happy ending, thanks God. Hospital and doctors all just called it "miracle". I would love to understand the exact workings and whys and cause but still cannot come up with an explanation that would make sense.

Kudos to you doctor Ekberg for helping millions of people. Regarding your topic today, question regarding CKD. I know you cannot really heal CKD to a 100% level but can you go from one level and get better (like stage 3 to stage 2 or stage 2 to stage 1)? Appreciate getting a response. Thank you.

    • @drekberg
      @drekberg  2 ปีที่แล้ว +66

Thank You Maryann Santos You can definitely improve from one stage to another, especially in the early stages when the kidney only has mild damage. The more it progresses, the less viable tissue there is left and it becomes increasingly more difficult. While there are many general things that a person can do to improve their health, such as reducing sugar, grain and processed foods. Some conditions are a little more complicated and require very specific analysis of the body. In my office we use Nutrition Response Testing to find and handle the root cause of the problem. 😀
