Before you push Keto diets you have to address preventing prolonged elevated Uric acid levels in blood. Not doing so is health dis-service to patients.

So would you please take your own medicine to get rid of your belly fat. I was very impressed with your great body shape however, I'm noticing an increase in your belly. I don't mean yo offend you just want you stay around much longer and be a good example for great health by following your own great lessons. Stay healthy. Much love. Blessings.

This dr. literally saved my life! For 2 yrs now my A1c has been been between 4.9 and 5.3. 2 yrs ago before finding Dr. Eckberg and Dr Ken Berry. My A1c then was 9.5 and i was feeling horrible.....swollen ankles, tired all the time, severe headaches at night. Now at age 64 i feel 30 yrs younger, have lost 78 lbs to date and have more energy than when i was in my 40's. Other drs did notook at healing but pushing meds. I am off ALL meds now....hbp, statins, metformin and even my thyroid med. ❤

    0:00 - What is normal
5:26 - What causes high blood sugar (Food Intake)
13:56 - What causes high blood sugar (Insulin Resistance)
17:42 - It takes a long time to break it
22:23- How to lower blood sugar
Resuming, If you're insulin resistant, don't eat carbs that don't come from leafy greens and such (mostly water and micronutrients, almost no carbs), fats raises glucose the least, protein also doesn't raise it nearly as much as carbs, but it's more than fat, so eat more fat, less carbs and enough protein but not too much, if its too much and your body doesn't have any more use to it, it'll become glucose just like a carbohydrate would. Fasting for at least 12-16h per day helps a lot, but the optimal is OMAD, since you'll only spike insulin once a day. The worst thing you can do is to have a lot of spaced meals, it will only make you hungrier and increase your cravings for junk food, since your insulin will rise everytime you eat something. It is not a quick fix, but it is sure to help your body to work as it should so you won't have as many health complications down the line. Exercise is good, just don't over do it. Go to the gym, work your muscles to failure, walk as much as you want, that won't be an issue, but don't try to heal your body through intense cardio sessions, if anything it'll make your problem worse.

The keto diet worsens type 2 diabetes.
People on the ketogenic diet have the shortest life expectancies of any diet, a decade long study involving thousands of people on the keto diet found that they have the highest incidence of heart attack and stroke.
RMIT University in Melbourne Australia just last week wrapped up a similar study involving thousands of people on the keto diet and drew the same conclusion

I will now pass this on to people in my circle who really need help and when I mention things they should not be eating the just look at me like why??? They just think popping another metformin will cure all. Hoping this can help a lot of people. You have a great way of explaining things in layman terms. The only problem I have with this diet is that I'm losing weight and from most people that's a plus but I don't want to lose weight cuz I'm losing muscle weight.
And not being hungry means I'm not eating enough calories in a day. So I've dropped from 215 lb to 201 lb in about 2 months or so.
And if you don't have a look to let you know diet or at least me, you could end up in the hospital with the ridiculously insane headache and vertigo.
The doctors gave me an IV and after an hour and a half my blood pressure drops from 106 over 164 down to 115 over 75.

This is the best video I've seen explaining insulin resistance, high blood sugar, and how to fix it. I just discovered I had diabetes, my fasting blood sugar was 204, and A1C 9.6, and my first appointment with an endocrinologist is in July. I was seeing a nutritionist, and she insisted that I have to eat 5 times a day, 2 hours between meals, all kinds of carbs included. That's crazy. Thankfully, I listened to Dr. Jason Fung a lot, and now I subscribed to this channel because what both of you explain makes more sense. THANK YOU for this video! ❤❤

Dr Ken Berry is the best doctor on this subject. If you can afford to go carnivore you could completely heal your diabetes. I was just diagnosed with pre-diabetes and meat makes me nauseous even though I love meat. Good luck and God bless you as you tale this healing journey 😉

    • @HyperNova137
      @HyperNova137 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@maryfolks9368 Carnivore and keto have never healed diabetes, it's illegal for doctors to even make that claim anymore, so many of them started making subtle changes to how they phrase that false claim in order to get away with it. Going vegan, on the other hand, CAN completely reverse Type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance. I've never been vegan, but about 7 years ago I became Type-1, which has no cure whatsoever, and years of experimentation has repeatedly shown me that the most effective thing for keeping my blood sugar low and eliminating insulin resistance is FIBER... As little as one spoonful of hemp fiber reduces my insulin needs to almost nothing for almost a full week, and my numbers are always perfect at my endocrinologist visits. Meanwhile, I've been watching one body builder after another aggressively promote carnivore and keto diets only to die of strokes and heart attacks, or developing Type 2 diabetes. Removing carbs from your diet has some temporary benefits, but over time it atrophies your body's ability to process carbs, so that when any kind of sugar does get into your diet, it remains in your blood -- basically the same effect as insulin resistance.

You can live without any blood sugar. There's a documented case of a person who Fasted for many weeks (I think 7 weeks). With a blood glucose of 1 , they injected him with insulin. His glucose went to zero, but he had no symptoms of hypoglycemia . They then re-measured his ketones , to see the ketones decreased slightly .They think the decrease was because his brain had been using some glucose before the insulin injection. With zero glucose , after insulin, his brain then used ketones instead .Thus , the ketone level reduction.

I can completely attest to this, did this before even watching this video. Found out I was type 2 with an A1C of 13.8, I was shocked. Immediately went on a full keto diet, within 1 month got my A1C down to 10.2, and within 3 months was down to 6.2. I have since re introduced a minimal controlled amount of carbs, no sugar still and I'm maintaining everything without any meds. My blood sugars are in the low to mid 100's only varying by 20-30 points at all times, occasionally I'll break down into the sub 100 range.

My dad who just turned 70, has been T2 diabetic for most of his life and didn't manage his diet well, is mostly blind and had a toe amputated. That was my motivation to take it serious and eat healthy. What I find is most people have a really hard time controlling their diet. I eat a very consistent diet. Protein shake for breakfast, a chicken salad for lunch, and dinner I'll usually have some meat with plenty of vegetables and a little amount of carbs, my rule is whatever would fit in the palm of my hand as far as the carb portion size.

Every time I listen to this man, nutrition becomes clearer to me. I'm amazed how we vilified fat in the 1970s and replaced it with sugar. No fat, we needed to add more sugar for favor. Maybe that's why people in the 60s and 70s were thinner. Anyway I think this channel is great, clear and concise. The mainstream for the most part is still preaching old school "science" and this line of thinking and science is too far out and has no basics in "real" science. Sad.

@1brunner699 My fasting blood sugar was around 177. It came down to 130. I was expecting better results but I must be very insulin resistant. A1C went from 8 to 7.3 in 6 months. I will have another A1C in July 2023.
Note I do take 500MG of Metformin for years but my blood sugar never decreased but stabilized at 6.7 A1C for years. Last fall Oct 2022 my A1C increased to 8 so my doctor wanted me to double metformin to twice a day and also prescribed Ozempic 0.5. I did diet instead and got down to 7.3
I do need to lose a lot of weight which is why doc prescribed ozempic but I will hold off for now. I have occasional digestive issues and don't want to make it worst.

I found that not eating lowers my blood sugar to about 80 in about two days. Of course I usually only eat less than two meals a day on average and have cut out my favorite foods which are pizza and cheese cake. One-eighth of a cheese cake raises my blood sugar to about 200 for hours. So, I'm definitely insulin resistant. Instead of salty potato chips I now eat a handful of mostly unsalted nuts. Even two cups of coffee a day makes me want to eat more, and makes me feel sickly most of the time. So I have to abstain from coffee for weeks at a time. I know the coffee industry says it won't hurt me, but what do they know? I'm a young 77 years old.

0:19: 📉 The video discusses the normal blood glucose levels and the recommended ranges for fasting and after meals.
3:48: 📈 The speaker discusses the impact of different types of carbohydrates on blood sugar levels, emphasizing that eating whole foods and avoiding processed carbohydrates can help maintain stable blood sugar levels.
7:29: 📚 Eating sugar is worse than eating starch because sugar contains both glucose and fructose, and fructose can only be processed by the liver, leading to fatty liver disease.
11:30: 📚 Different types of food have varying impacts on blood sugar levels, with carbohydrates having the greatest effect, followed by protein and fat. Insulin resistance also plays a role in blood sugar regulation.
15:26: 🩸 High blood sugar leads to insulin resistance, and fructose exacerbates this process.
19:30: ⏰ Insulin resistance develops over time, making it harder for the body to control blood glucose levels.
22:57: ✅ To lower blood sugar levels, it is important to reduce insulin by avoiding sugar and reducing overall carbohydrate intake. Gentle exercise and eating non-starchy vegetables can also help.
26:53: 🏋 During intense exercise, the body burns more glucose than fat, creating a need for more glucose production.

Zara - Good job on your first day with no sugar at all. What we did was get it out of the house ( and keep it out ), cause we can’t eat what’s not available. Hardest part for most, including us, to remember is that Carb’s turn right into sugar as well ! Yikes. Anyway, all bread, cereal etc,… out the door ! AND, as we just heard the Dr. Say,… even too much protein turns to glucose as well. Soooo,… more exercise (light) and LOTs of non-starchy vegi’s for us. Watch it though on the leafy greens. Many of them are VERY high in oxilates , ( spinach is off there chart ) cause too much will cause/worsen gout and arthritis mainly for those of us that are a bit older. The book I’m reading, “ Complete Idiot’s Guide Anti-Inflammation Cookbook “ talks about having 3 servings of vegi’s at each meal. And to kept/learn many different recipes on how to make the vegi’s so you don’t get board/sick of them. Doing this is a commitment to yourself, but you’re worth it. Am also working on accepting the idea, I won’t be eating out much anymore, aside from “salad & go “ ( here in Phoenix ), which I’ve gone to for a number of years now. **** ( PS, I need to check what Thomas DeLauer would say about not doing intense exercise, since it raises cortisol levels, as the Dr. just mentioned in this vid. Interesting to learn and fit these pieces all together. Good luck all. ) ****

6.6 ac1 isn't great but it's not that bad either so long as you stay under 7. Also, unfortunately cottage cheese has more sugar than you would believe. Just read the label. There's certain things you can do like whipping cream As a replacement for coffee cream or in recipes requiring milk. (not the stuff in a spray can but the stuff you pour to make whipping cream without sugar. If you look on the nutrition label you'll see that it actually has no sugars in it. So I've used that now as my replacement for dairy because all dairy has naturally occurring sugar.) If you're doing a lot of physically intense activities. Your body will need some carbs. No sugar for a year... Non-fasting glucose was 100,
    now it's 87 (non-fasting). 🎉
AND I'm not hungry all the time like I used to be! 😃
ANSWER to people asking questions: I was on an anti-inflammatory diet (paleo) because I had fibromyalgia for about 15 yrs. That's gone! Then I decided to follow a modified keto diet. It's been a year now. I eat keto foods but I don't do the proportions, so I guess it's not true keto...yet. I no longer eat grains, sugar, legumes, processed foods, and I do have organic whenever possible. I do give in with dairy... and I have meats, veggies, and for fruits I have berries. I have high fat foods. My weight is pretty steady because I'm not doing proprtions of carbs, fats, protiens. Actually, I have gradually lost 15 lbs over the last year.
Here's what keeps me sane... I have a day during the week when I can have whatever I want. I'm finding over time though that those days are getting healthier as I go along because my food cravings have definitely changed. 🤔 I don't know if my cholesterol will be ok or not because I'm not doing the proportions yet. I am doing high fat. I was pleasantly surprised when my blood sugar (non-fasting) dropped from 100 (always steady previously) down to 87. 🤔 💭
BONUS: For the first time in my life, I'm not starving in between meals!! Thats huge. I take advantage of that and don't eat in between meals. I do have coffee ☕ with cream twice a day too.
My body's food cravings really did change over time.

    • @electrofuzz7396
      @electrofuzz7396 ปีที่แล้ว +9

@@fishydubsfishing6516 It's very simple, during exercise when your glucose goes too low, the liver starts to create glucose so you don't faint, in a healthy body this works great because together with the pancreas things stay balanced but if you are insulin resistant or a diabetic, the liver over shoots and you might end up with even higher glucose then before you started the exercise. So if you are 100% healthy go for as much exercise as you wish but if you are diabetic and want to lower your post meal numbers limited exercise will result in better glucose numbers.

I believe it is called the contraction mediated pathway. You will find numerous papers on the subject on PubMed. Basically, as Dr Ekberg states, even moderate exercise allows your muscles to accept blood sugar without insulin. This gives your pancreas a much-needed break from suppressing blood glucose.

I am 5 ft tall so I really have to watch what goes into my body. I don’t need to lose weight, but Keto way of eating is just easier as I can gain very easily. An added benefit is my tummy issues are all gone…I haven’t had an IBS flare up since I switched …yay. ☺️

In may of last year I fasted for 25 days. I had no idea what my glucose was. I have a brother who is diabetic and constantly looks at his meter. He denied being a diabetic. • @Hippy2021

I ate a huge dinner with wrong foods today, socializing with my brother. I am very discipline the past 2 years to beat my 20 years prediabetes ànd I struggled to keep my tests results under 90 fasted stage and always under 120 after meals successfully, except when eating out at restaurant. Tonight a large bowl of chicken pho soup and a couple of spring rolls (no drink) took my glucose reading to 160 after 3 hours post meal. I was shock!!! but not surprised. I did not eat the soup liquid, but only the noodles and meat and I know for sure my blood test will be a disaster when I get home. Most of the Asian restaurants do add msg to the foods for flavor and they honestly admit it if you ask, and that's the main problem when eating out. Every restaurant will add something. After the 160 test result I immediately drank a large cup of fresh lemon water with acv, a huge cup of chamomile tea from dried flowers. And I did 50 push-up on my knees, 50 squats, 100 reverse lunges . Just like dr Ekberg said I do it gently spreading in 1 hour light work out. Two hours later,(5 hours after the meal) I tested again, the test reading went down to 107. I am 70, very active and mostly healthy without any medication needed for now. And I take my health seriously and don't give up on high blood glucose. It's about discipline, lifestyle and patience that can save us from troubles.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
Normal fasting *blood sugar levels are typically between 70 and 100 mg/dL, but tighter ranges are advisable.*
Impaired glucose *regulation includes fasting glucose levels of 101 to 125 mg/dL, while type 2 diabetes is indicated by levels of 126 mg/dL and above.*
Glucose levels *after meals should ideally stay under 140 mg/dL for healthy individuals, up to 190 mg/dL for those with insulin resistance, and not fall under 200 mg/dL for type 2 diabetics.*
Optimal fasting *blood sugar levels are suggested to be around 80 to 90 mg/dL, with lower levels acceptable during prolonged fasting or on a ketogenic diet.*
Post-meal glucose *levels are recommended to remain between 90 to 110 mg/dL, especially for those on low-carb or ketogenic diets.*
Carbohydrates, especially *processed ones like sugar and high fructose corn syrup, significantly raise blood sugar levels and can lead to insulin resistance and fatty liver disease.*
Starches, found *in foods like potatoes and bread, break down into glucose rapidly, affecting blood sugar levels similarly to sugar.*
Protein and *fat have lesser impacts on blood sugar compared to carbohydrates, with fat having almost zero effect.*
Insulin resistance *develops over time due to consistent high blood sugar levels, leading to a loop of increasing blood sugar and insulin resistance.*
Understanding the *mechanisms behind blood sugar regulation is crucial for managing and preventing insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.*
Lowering sugar *intake, reducing overall carbohydrate consumption, and focusing on non-starchy vegetables can help manage blood sugar levels and insulin resistance.*
24:50 High-starch *carbohydrates like grains, potatoes, and corn should be avoided, while non-starchy vegetables are recommended.*
25:20 Eating *fewer meals can help lower insulin levels, aiding in blood sugar control.*
25:49 Gentle *exercise is beneficial for lowering blood sugar as it primarily burns fat and encourages muscles to absorb glucose from the bloodstream.*
26:17 Intense *exercise may raise blood sugar due to cortisol release, while gentle exercise promotes fat burning and muscle glucose uptake.*

It's why every typical grocery store is absolutely loaded with food-products which land people in the hospital. These Criminals should be forced to pay for the rising costs of health care, as they are Directly responsible for oversaturating every grocery store with their garbage, while providing very few alternatives. Just because a package states ''keto'' or ''healthy'' absolutely does not make it - so. It's all a marketing ploy designed to sell more food-products high in sugar, fat , and refined -carbs and no nutritional value at the same time. It's precisely why we are seeing more third-graders diagnosed with type 2 diabetes then ever before in human history. Thank you for all your informative videos Dr. Ekberg.

You're just overloading your system and it will got haywire. Adrenaline fatigue is also real. Alot of people go from one extreme to another without even realising it. Like a fat couch potato going for a marathon training. Just go 30min walking after every meal is already great. Consistency is key. Ease into the changes is important, not shock the body. Extreme fasting can help some people, but I would not recommand it to everyone. Since extreme fasting will also increase cortisol.

Thanks for the info Dr. Ekberg! I gain so much from your videos, and they really help my health. I anticipate having enhanced longevity because of them, so thank you! I really didn't understand that much about blood sugar, and what is normal versus high, and what you recommend. Hope you have a good weekend! God bless!

I am a filipino nurse, and when a friend told me that he completely doesn't take his metformin because he doesn't like the side effects and he is a prediabetic... I took his sugar and it was 133 prior to the new non-pharm tx,,, He is 55 yo. I told him to take this AMPALAYA TEA everyday when he gets home which is around 5pm -6pm cos. I prefer him to take it at this time to prevent from getting up for bathroom so promote rest at night. After 1 week i think it was when I saw him again I tested his sugar and it was 83... and he didn't change his diet. only advice I gave him was do not consume more carbs than he normally does. Next time when I see him I will also take his BP. I wasn't worried about his bp going down cos he tend to be borderline on his BP... In which the tea will also help reduce BP.

    Pozdrawiam z Katowic. Iwona

Hi to Poland, I’m of Polish ethnicity - first generation. My parents came to America from Poland when they were very young. I hope to visit Poland in the future, a two week trip. Good luck with controlling your blood sugar. ❤
