Just got my R12 with 3080 yesterday and completed all cooling mods, using 4 Noctua NF-A12x25s, 2 in the front and two on the top in push/pull configuration. I actually pulled the other side/front of case so I was able to use the rubber mounting accessories for the 2nd front fan. I also put Noctua thermal paste around the GPU heatsink. Running NiceHash 97MH/s and average GPU Junction temps of 78c. CPU temps around 50c while mining. Great videos and info to get my system set up. Thanks!
Also you mentioned about replacing the AIO fan. You do not need to take the top panel off. There is a cage that will slide out with two screws. One is near the left most ram slot at the top of the case, and the other is on the far left of the bracket. You'll have to un-do the CPU power cable and remove them from their cable mgmt grommets (there are two, one plastic and one metal) for clearance. Good luck.
I added a corsair h60 to cool the cpu with thermaltake ring12 fans, push pull config, also added a 80mm fan to the 3.5 slot in front, since it fits the mounting holes of the cage perfectly..I can attest to getting sub 40c idle temps and stable 50c running in cinebench r20. 10700f and 3060ti Edit: It's around 30c idling
9:00 The down arrow indicates the direction in which the fan blades rotate. Lose the cage and attach the fan directly to the chassis.. but use 2x40mm or 1x80mm fan(s). The 120mm fits, but the case blocks the leading edge of the fan, which is the part that produces the most velocity. Use non-flammable tape or make a custom plate to block the rest of the holes. The empty holes reduce the amount of thrust that your pull fans can create. Cheers!
The 3.5 inch drive is actually fitting on the bottom, it requires a bit adjustment, but I was able to install it on the left, you are right, not an option to install it close to the front because of the ssd ports and it will obstruct the air flow but you can definitely install with a little adjustment on the cadi
Thank you for this amazing tutorial! I just swapped 2 fans out of my Aurora R10, added a 3rd fan, and upgraded my RTX 3080 for a RTX 4080 Super! Luckily, Zotac makes a 12inch version or it would have never fit.
Just ordered my R10, although I’ve built many a custom PCs I’ve never bought a prebuilt but with a 3080 for under 2k I couldn’t pass it up. Really appreciate the info you put out it’s super valuable. Your presentation is on point.
Hey man, IDK if you are gonna see this comment, but I really appreciate the videos you put up over the Aurora series. I had to buy an R12 to upgrade my setup because i cant get parts anywhere, and my rtx 970 was no longer cutting it. Your videos have been a big help and i really appreciate it. Thank you
Good video. That water cooler on the cpu and the second fan will work wonders for its cooling. The Alienware Aurora R11 engineers should not have the customers developing a fix for their poor lack of cooling the pc.
@@raezur.b i replaced the fans with RGB ML120's. got a BIOS error though, so i'm going to have to troubleshoot that. I am getting the error on the top fan, where i've installed the push/pull configuration. i'm not getting an error on the front intake fans, though. i've been using it strictly for mining thus far, but i'm planning on getting Flight Simulator soon
Insane improvement: Mining (gpu) temps before 68-72* After: 38-42*..... I used a Noctua 2k RPM industrial fan for the intake and put the Noctua into the splitter side that has the controller pin because the Noctua has a higher minimum rpm. Nice, quiet, and especially COOL rig. I will update after a longer continuous mining period than 30 minutes.
I move GPUs around too often to get a good grasp on an accurate improvement, but the improvement is there! Have a 3080 in there now, VRAM temps are 110 with 2 intakes. So need to get that figured out!
@@chriswright7806 this is a very stupid fix, but I have an r12 3090 whose mining vram temps were hitting 110 C with nicehash even when set to the lite profile. I experimented and found that the easiest way, says under clocking, was to put a standard Walmart box fan directly in front of the alienware. Instant drop of vram temps to 100 c or thereabouts.
@@micahhyatt2696 there is a VERY simple fix for the VRAM temps! I dropped my VRAM temps while mining on high by 20°. It works for both the 3080 and 3090. Go to this TH-camrs R11 playlist (same for R9-12, so it works for you too). And see his second video on repasting his 3080. I will see if I can link it here, just not sure how. Basically you repaste the GPU and add some paste to the outer heat plate and you will have an instant drop. I saw 20°. Well worth watching his video on it, and it's easy to do ;)
@@micahhyatt2696 oh and I use a Costco Wazzoo fan in front on mine, the little high powered fan is awesome! I didn't check before and after with that. Definitely see my other reply about thermal paste video though!
first time viewer here and i feel it'd be a disservice to both Gamer Heaven and anyone watching for the first time, like myself, if i were to click off this video before expressing my gratitude. not only was the video very helpful and informative, it is also made in such a relaxed and straight forward manner. no unnecessary over-editing, no filler bullshit just to extend the runtime, and leading the video is a seemingly knowledgeable and charismatic host that is both articulate and precise with his explanations while also keeping them in lamen's terms as much as possible to accommodate less tech savvy viewers. i specifically applaud these attributes because they are seemingly lacking in a lot of other similar style videos ive seen. but at the risk of glazing this guy even more than i already have, i'll just sum up this whole spiel in a couple words: good video.
Anytime you hook up a 3pin into a 4pin connector, the 3pin will run at 100%. So naturally the top fan is going to blow more air than the bottom since it's running at full speed.
In this case, yeah because it is paired with a PWM fan on a splitter. But it's not true that a 3 pins fan will always run at 100% into a 4 pins connector. The 3 pins fan can be controlled by voltage and you can do that on any 4 pins connector on MOST motherboard. Not sure for the aurora because of AWCC.
It’s People like this that make the difference! My hats off to you for sharing this my friend! And I will do the same......When I get my R12 on the 19th🤞🏻. Looking forward to that push pull method! And any other mods! Like you said brother....They don’t know jack! Keep em coming!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I have a similar Aurora except I went with Ryzen. My CPU By default idles at around 33 with the only aftermarket modification ive done is change my single intake fan out with a Noctua.
My aurora ryzen addition is running really hot even on idle, and I think because it probably overheated pretty bad the stuff is slow. Would you suggest getting a different fan the one you got and replacing my original one with it?
@@zefte are you running on a SSD? Even great specs on a pc if it’s running on a HDD it’s gonna feel like a old school computer. Make sure your operating system is on the ssd
definitely gonna do the fan upgrade. You do know though that if you didn't have your NVidia drivers set to max performance that it would cool things down too. I noticed that your card was on full blast. You gotta let it throttle down, guy. Plus, your bench cannot be accurate because you have the side panel off. Put the panel on then test.
You got those temps when your case was open. It’s possible that you got those lower temps with more airflow out of the case. Close the side panel and test again? Great video. Keep the content going!
That is true, and I think it does make a pretty good difference with the side off. The temps are still lower, but having the side off probably aided with that. Will do man.
@@ichheibeangel the verdict was, your PC will run cooler with the side of your case off, don't bother installing another fan because it wont accomplish much
This is a poorly designed PC case, the small side vent shares the air intake with exhaust from the GPU, you can feel that the bottom it's cooler than the top of that vent, and to make it worst it's circular, this vent should have been rectangular and covering all the PCI chamber and also no restricting the intake, you can see how dumb it is, when you can compare the external plastic vent which it's round and the internal part of the panel it's rectangular but it's not even covering the circular part. I made a chamber for the GPU to separate and keep the front cool air away from the side exhausted hot air, this just improves my VRam temperature in 4C, at least allows me to keep the RTX 3090 running without throttling, also I added the top fan but nothing really improved still I plan to keep it in case the RAM needs some cooling. I created a profile where the front fan it's spinning faster at lower CPU temps so more air can be taken by the GPU.
I swapped fans to some thermaltake fans (2 intakes) and than a 120mm AIO as the exhaust, temps went from 85 on the CPU to 55 now. Absolute night and day difference on the noise level aswell. Pc sounded like a jet and was still hitting low 80s, now my room fan is louder than the pc itself
Thanks to videos from you, I have learned a lot bout my R10. Installations, upgrades, capabilities were intimidating. Following your videos, I was able to lower temps from 65C-75C to 45C-55C! 2 fans and an H60 Liquid Cooler install thanks to you! This morning(April 11), I figured out that my rig was OC to 1.38V. I lowered it to 1.28V and temps have gone to 38C-45C under load!!! I still may try that push/pull method cause now I am addicted! LOL... Thanks Shipmate!
Sad that you have to do all of that. Dell should make them like that out of the box. Aren't they the ones on top of the world? Meanwhile I have to disassemble my new Alienware laptop to clean it every week.
I managed to mount my HDD on the Bottom of the case by designing and 3D-Printing a custom caddy that doesn't mess with the Plugs on the Mainboard. Airflow got better just by getting the HDD out of the way. Now I'm planning on upgrading to a second intake fan. So far I did: Call Dell-Support, cry about how loud this mashine is and getting a 10% refund for keeping it anyways. Push Pull Corsair ML120 Pro on the Radiator. Repasting the CPU. Changing the lower intake fan to ML120 Pro. 3D-designing a custom caddy for the HDD and place it in the bottom back of the Case. Thx for the inspiration.
Thanks for this video. I actually used that 2nd ssd bay and installed another fan in that location using that technique you used to add the additional fan in the front. This has made a huge difference.
Hey man, appreciate your videos, I just ordered an Alienware desktop. I can’t wait to work and game on it. I’ll be starting to crypto mine on it as well. You have been really helpful. Thanks!
Everyone replaces the dell fans in their Alienware PCs, but the thing is is that they are server fans and can do like 4000rpm and can move a LOT of air. The trick really is to figure out the maximum speed you are willing to listen to (for me it's like ~45%) and then use the thermal control to scale that as the maximum speed. The OEM fans at 40% move way more air then standard replacement fans.
u should have used a PWM fan , as the primary intake also has 4pin. where 4th pin is mainly for PWM functionality. Moreover this CM Fan will always run at max speed as there will be no PWM controller
Bro i wished u would show more the install of the fan, i mean u told us how to do but at least there was a cut and the fan was in. Without any glue or something else, and i wish u show us how to install it and put it in and which cable gets to be used for and how u do the cable management and everything.. my aurora r10 coming in 2 weeks and i even bought a second nvme wirh heatsink, 4fans from corsair, new heatpaste and everything else so i want to pimp up that little badass to the maximum of airflow but i just never worked on pcs at all so im really excited and scary of not to break anything in there. So i need a step by step video with all that stuff u are doing.. thx bro u are great and your Videos are fantastic much thx!
I'm sorry man. The fan just slides into the empty slot where the hard drive used to be, I literally pushed it in with the sticky roll that's in the description. The fan splitter is plugged into the "front fan" slot on the motherboard, where the stock fan is plugged in. The cables, I showed the little bit of what I was able to do with running it around the outside. Dude that's awesome, your R10 is going to be nice AF. I will do all my future tutorials with more detail. Thank you Erto, I appreciate that man!
@@derevu2072 they don't come off. I just pushed them in and downward to loosen the bottom foot piece. I had to do all 8 tabs to get them in low enough. But it locked into the case just fine
Hello sir! I almost never comment on videos, but I just wanted to thank you for these useful Aurora upgrade videos! You have helped me a lot upgrade my R11, very well explained and easy to follow. Quick question: will you be doing a video on the push/pull upgrade for the top fans? I'm have my fans ready to be installed and I'm just waiting for the tutorial 😁 Keep up the good work!
Apologies in advance, I'm using most of your videos to upgrade my 2 year old Aurora R11. I watched this video for fan placement with a splitter, but the video skipped over where your HDD ended up. So I.m seeing 2 fans up front, but then the video skips over the part where I,m supposed to mount the HDD......Thanks for making all these mod videos for the r11, good ones are hard to find, and yours are by far the best. Thanks in advance.
FYI the Alienware Aurora line has been using the same basic chassis design since nearly the beginning. I have an r5 that opens up and is internally organized identically. It’s just the outside that changed in the past few revisions.
Have an aurora R12 factory water cooled. You happen to know if i will get any bios errors or issues disconnecting water pump wires completely? Going to run a rad and pump in a separate case to help temps. Second case will be powered by a separate power supply with hard lined tubbing running between the two cases. Yes i watch to much linus tech lol. Seen a video you posted about certain brand fans not working and giving bios issues witch is why i ask. New to the alienware world.
I am kind of dreading that project as I know there will be some cutting, and custom fabricating, but it will look and perform sexily. I am going to mount 2 rgb fans where those ports are on the side.
@@GamerHeavenOfficial I took my entire chassis apart. The cases are actually just small squares with plastic snapped on. Super easy to work on though. Also, be warned, the snaps sound like they are breaking and are loud as fuck when you pop the top/front and other side panel off lol
The bravo actually fits perfect with the same screws. U just have to bend a little of the bracket in the back to get it past the two little plastic tabs on the bottom of case. Bend has no affect on the HDD sliding in perfectly, and let’s the bracket fit perfectly in the slot. And I mean PERFECT fit.
How did you get the errors to stop throwing when booting up? I changed out both my front and top fans with Noctua NF-F12 PWM, which are working and accurately following my custom fan curves, but it runs a “SupportAssist Pre-Boot System Performance Check” that always has a critical error saying that the top and front fan aren’t responding correctly. I get this error unless the OEM fans are connected, Dell confirmed this and said that there no way to get around the errors other than switching back to the OEM fans. Thoughts?
Question - I saw this comment in the Dell forums: "The other thing to consider is the OEM Dell AVC fans pull over 1A, which is about 4x what most 120mm fans will pull, including the ML 120 pro. If you put the equivalent of 6 fans on 1 header you run the risk of burning it out." Thoughts?
Thanks for making this vid. I added a fan in the same spot with the same splitter cable - but the fan I used is a 4 pin. Will this have any kind of effect?
Hey buddy, great video. I know this is an old one, but I had to upgrade an Alienware R11 (it has 2 slots so I can have the GPU and my Elgato 4k Pro Capture card). However, after the additional fan was added (same way you did in this video) it seems like the fans are always on. Before the upgrade I only heard the fans when the processer was cranking up. But now, from the minute I switch on to the minute I switch off, I can hear a fan whirring. It's not loud - just permanently on. Any thoughts on what that could be?
I kind of get a kick out of these people, I'd love to see some of them build a 486. These modern boxes are so easy to work on they are self explanatory. Back in the day you had to install a part and then find the right driver and in some cases hope it worked or didn't conflict with something else. Talking about mechanical hdd's like obsolete parts cracks me up. I've been using the same mechanical drive for almost 2 decades, starting it as a primary drive and eventually using it as a storage drive. In the old days they didn't exactly think out how to run wires or fans, but things didn't get that hot. I'm just trying to figure out how to clean my son's r12, I should do a video on that, people would be shocked at how filthy it will be. Maybe I will....
Love the videos man, currently waiting on my r10... looking forward to opening this bad boy up, my question is could we get away moving that lower fan up and maybe putting the hdd bracket on bottom?
@Mcknuckels to be honest the biggest drop in temp i saw was just from moving the hdd bracket to the bottom, in front of the bottom fan. For me the fans managed to maintain performance much quieter which is still a win but also not what i was expecting to see from watching this video, also i recommended slim fans for the push pull config on the rad muchceasier to fit in that small space
Thank you for another R11 vid that I have enjoyed. Why did you get a mechanical HD at all? When buying new, building, and/or prebuilt, why not just select a M.2 or SSD? Got my R12 on order, but only went with a 256GB M.2 (really boot only) and will get a SSD aftermarket. Also, fan add... why nearly permanent tape instead of command tape or rubber cement that would be much easier to remove, but still hold a light fan quite well and dampen sound?
I'm going to do this on my wife's R11 and my R12. The only concerns/questions: 1) will AWCC see/detect the additional fan and 2) will I still be able to control the fan speed curve? Thanks!
Hey guys so I did this now and essentially what is happening is the PC thinks that there is still o ly one fan in the front even though there are 2. In other words, the fan control looks like it is one fan but you're controlling both front fans together if that makes sense.
I have this exact same R11 with 16gig ram. Why is my 3080 sitting at 24 degree at idle? I have bare bones with no overclocking on at all. My cpu stays at 30 at idle. Do you have more running in the background? I play Warzone mainly in 1440p and my gpu stays right at 70 and cpu right at or above 60. Is this safe? The only thing I did was make a profile for warzone/CW in the library and set the temp to performance and the power to performance. Other than that it just runs balanced on idle/web use.
I want to do your method for another SSD with that adapter. I’m glad someone is making vids on upgrading these PC’s. I’m not the best computer mechanic out there but you make it look simple enough.
So the issue I have is, I have an r12 with a 3060ti.. and I have two Corsair ml120 (non rgb), and they install them just fine, however in AWCC they won’t go above 32% fan speed. I tried uninstalling and re installing the software, did nothing, and eventually fusion wouldn’t even load. Had to do a factory reset. And just moved the stock fan to the top and used one ml120 on the bottom because my gpu temps are fine but the cpu gets pretty high. The stock fan goes up to 100% just fine, but the ml120 still tops out at 32%, even if I plug it into the 4pin slot on the splitter.
Thank you man for all the Aurora videos. I have the Aurora R9 and I have the same problem with the temperature, it looks like to me all the issues come from the tower because there is not that much space, is it possible to switch the tower? I know it is a lot of work but I think that will eliminate all the heat issue
My pleasure man. No the mother board sends an error code to dell and bricks if you remove it from the chassis. There is a way to unlock it but your warranty would be voided.
glad to stumble across the channel and video as a new R11 owner (slammed that like/subscribe button), was a little disheartened to see how hot the computer was getting and unsure how to remedy the situation.. looking forward to what the addition of a fan will do is there a reason why you didnt wedge the HD in the bottom left, does it need to remain locked in the brackets? could you simply place it or is there a reason to avoid doing this
Nice videos, thank you.!!! I've watched all your Alienware and Crypto videos and planning to add thermal paste and 2nd fan to lower temps. Is this fan compatible, the Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM, 4-Pin (120mm)?
Hi sir, awesome video here! One question: is there no other option to include the HDD in the rig? I dont mind using HDD because the price hike in getting the 1TB SSD variant is too much, and for me 1TB SSD + 2TB HDD is kinda overkill. I want to opt for the 500GB SSD and 2TB HDD variant. However I really need the HDD in the rig after installing the second intake fan
I was able to remove the 2nd 2.5 slot from the bottom rear and put the HDD slot in its place. Just had to slightly bend the bracket a little in the back to fit perfect. Youd have 1 HDD and 1SSD slot on the bottom. I see this comment was 11mo ago so you probably already figured it out lol
Thank You for finally getting to this. When you repasted your GPU, did you see any thermal improvement compared to your video that showed no gains? If you did get better thermals on the GPU, what changes were made from the video you took? I’m definitely adding another fan and replacing stock going forward. Up in the air on the Push/Pull AIO project. But plexiglass for the side? Meh. I wouldn’t go that route myself, the power supply is unsightly and takes the entire upper portion of that case. Are you just going to open the lower half for the GPU to show? I just don’t see the point with how crammed everything is. As always, keep up the great content!
Hey thanks for the video! I have a quick question, is the splitter for the fans compatible with two (4)pin corsair fans or is this splitter strictly for a 3pin/4pin set up
i will try bluetack to mount the fan lol i assume controlling the stock fan also controls the second fan you add? no separation here? also, will any fan work or does it have to be a specific one?
A few days ago I ordered a R12 3700 with the intention to mine crypto. Later that night I did the research I should have done before purchasing it, and subsequently ran across your videos. My device doesn't have the liquid cooling system and like I said is only the 3070. In your opinion, would it be smart/feasible to install a liquid cooling system? Or would it be worth it to return it and buy a 3080 with a liquid cooling system? Granted I think they said I might not be able to get it until July... Love the videos any help would be greatly appreciated!
HI man, thanks for your videos, that helps me a lot! I just ordered an Aurora r10 5800x with 3090, i am wondering the generation of the nvme m.2 slot is gen3 or gen4, i think it's gen4 but i am not sure. i checked the user document but get nothing. i am waitting for your answer
Do you have a video installing the two push pull fans on the radiator liquid cooler? I thought you said you have one but I cant see it at all on your site.
Where exactly would you buy on Dell the fan case to install? I'd rather use that instead of the two other options for long term and to make it easier if I ever needed to change fans again
Since it is off the splitter it just sees it as the one "front fan" however their speed and fan curve is controlled together/linked in ACC, which is what I wanted. Thank you Miguel.
Yo I got one for sale if you want. I did the same thing. It's the 1tb Can do a PayPal sale so buyer and seller are both protected if one flakes out on the other.
Hey man, was it really worth it the upgrade? Do you think that repasting the GPU made a difference or just adding a second fan will get the job done? Nice vid!
Where is the follow up vid for the other fans? I live in SD, my rig arrives soon. Your videos are very helpful, currently binge watching . @Gamer Heaven
So I bought the everything you linked below. I have installed all 4 fans. The fan on bottom and the extra on where ur hard drive went. No problem. I also replaced radiator fan and installed the upper for push pull airflow. However. The top of my r11 will not go on with the upper fan installed. I don’t think these fans will work for the top fan. If I’m wrong please help. I’m currently defeated by this upgrade
I'm getting my R12 this week and plan on adding two Noctua P12 fans for intake. Do you think you could mount fans to the front chassis using rubber mounting screws instead? Pop off the front bezel and just pull them through those slots?
Do you have to keep the SATA hard drive in the tray? Looks like there would be enough room if you just sit it on top of the front SSD bay, but not have it in the metal tray. Is there any downside to that?
Have anyone try to change the case for this pre-built? I order mine because the 3080, but I don't want the case and cpu cooling, didn't see anyone post a video about case upgrade
Do you think it'd be worth it to upgrade to a different motherboard and buy a case of power supply and swapping everything over I have an Alienware r10 ryzen 9 5900x rx6800xt 16g ram killer wifi. You really get the 4.0 speeds by using the pcie slot and can you boot from the adapeter? I guess the only other thing I'm not getting because of the boards is smart access memory.
I was able to finagle that hdd bay into the rear slot without putting any pressure on the fan port, could only get one screw in though lol but I figure so long as I’m not throwing the pc like a football I should be fine
Just got my R12 with 3080 yesterday and completed all cooling mods, using 4 Noctua NF-A12x25s, 2 in the front and two on the top in push/pull configuration. Good luck.
I added a corsair h60 to cool the cpu with thermaltake ring12 fans, push pull config, also added a 80mm fan to the 3.5 slot in front, since it fits the mounting holes of the cage perfectly..I can attest to getting sub 40c idle temps and stable 50c running in cinebench r20. 10700f and 3060ti
Edit: It's around 30c idling
I used dremmel to cut small hole so you can place the 3.5 hdd cage all the way thru.
How did you manage to fit the 3.5 below

Thank you for the awesome compliment. Seriously that means a lot.
Not sure for the aurora because of AWCC.
no 2 pin fans run at 100% 3 pin fans run at 70% and you set rpm in bios by voltage on auto
i have 4 3 pin fans in 4 pin headers and they are set with a fan curve with voltage control and cpu 4 pin on 4 pin and a fan curve with pwm
"cheap fans are better than no fans" 😎😎👍👍
You got those temps when your case was open. It’s possible that you got those lower temps with more airflow out of the case. Close the side panel and test again? Great video. Keep the content going!
That is true, and I think it does make a pretty good difference with the side off. The temps are still lower, but having the side off probably aided with that. Will do man.
@@GamerHeavenOfficial What was the verdict on this?
@@ichheibeangel the verdict was, your PC will run cooler with the side of your case off, don't bother installing another fan because it wont accomplish much
wont accomplish much IN THIS CASE
So far I did:
Call Dell-Support, cry about how loud this mashine is and getting a 10% refund for keeping it anyways.
Good idea. I’m gonna try that. Did you splice them power wires?
@@Ghost88o9 I used a splitter

How's it been thinking of getting a amd or intel 3080
@@Godzilla015 so far so good, I've been running it 24/7 with no problems
The arrows on the cooler Master fan indicate, as you said, airflow direction -but, the down arrow indicates the direction of fan rotation.
I am going to add more fans to this. Should they all be 4pin?

I'm sorry man. The fan just slides into the empty slot where the hard drive used to be, I literally pushed it in with the sticky roll that's in the description. The fan splitter is plugged into the "front fan" slot on the motherboard, where the stock fan is plugged in. The cables, I showed the little bit of what I was able to do with running it around the outside. Dude that's awesome, your R10 is going to be nice AF. I will do all my future tutorials with more detail. Thank you Erto, I appreciate that man!
@@GamerHeavenOfficial Can you please mention where on the fan you added the sticky roll?
I got the HDD bay to fit perfectly on the bottom. Just pop the 8 tabs to release the bottom of the case and it slides and locks right in
In my case, those 8 tabs wouldn't come off. So I designed my own caddy for the HDD and mounted it on the lower back of the case
@@derevu2072 they don't come off. I just pushed them in and downward to loosen the bottom foot piece. I had to do all 8 tabs to get them in low enough. But it locked into the case just fine
Just bend the bracket a little to get it past those tabs n boom. Perfect fit.
Thx for the vid - looking into swapping a couple Noctua fans into the R11.
Thank you man for the great idea!
You can mount the fan directly in the hard drive sled.
Hello sir! I almost never comment on videos, but I just wanted to thank you for these useful Aurora upgrade videos! You have helped me a lot upgrade my R11, very well explained and easy to follow.
Quick question: will you be doing a video on the push/pull upgrade for the top fans? I'm have my fans ready to be installed and I'm just waiting for the tutorial 😁
Keep up the good work!
Going to be doing this for my R10. I've already removed the HDD and gotten an 870 evo installed, just need the extra fan.
Wow... ok.. I might have to watch this a few times. Great content! Thanks
That's funny bro because I've been thinking about cutting out a strip and tossing some plexi in so my 6800xt could be seen.
Post a video if you do that I wanna see!
Masterminds at play...Mods rule!
How is the 6800 in the Alienware? Debating on weather to go with the 6800xt or 3070
Fwiw I was able to mount a 3.5” on the bottom by using slightly longer machining screws to connect the chassis. No cable interference and no wiggle.
@@mannyfeliciano6898 how do you handle the heat on the hdd?, mine is getting really hot around 126°F
Great video- very detailed. Thanks for the help! Subbed up
How did you get the errors to stop throwing when booting up? I changed out both my front and top fans with Noctua NF-F12 PWM, which are working and accurately following my custom fan curves, but it runs a “SupportAssist Pre-Boot System Performance Check” that always has a critical error saying that the top and front fan aren’t responding correctly. I get this error unless the OEM fans are connected, Dell confirmed this and said that there no way to get around the errors other than switching back to the OEM fans. Thoughts?
Question - I saw this comment in the Dell forums:
"The other thing to consider is the OEM Dell AVC fans pull over 1A, which is about 4x what most 120mm fans will pull, including the ML 120 pro. If you put the equivalent of 6 fans on 1 header you run the risk of burning it out."
Thoughts?
Also, fan add... why nearly permanent tape instead of command tape or rubber cement that would be much easier to remove, but still hold a light fan quite well and dampen sound?
where did you end up placing the mechanical hard drive. i love your videos very detailed with the guide.
Great Vid. I will link to this video for reference. woof
Smhhh “tomorrow” my asssss jokes but FINNALLY I’ve been waiting
I'm going to do this on my wife's R11 and my R12. The only concerns/questions: 1) will AWCC see/detect the additional fan and 2) will I still be able to control the fan speed curve? Thanks!
I am also curious about AWCC.
Same
Hey guys so I did this now and essentially what is happening is the PC thinks that there is still o ly one fan in the front even though there are 2.
Can you show how to put thermal paste on next?
My god this is my new favorite channel. 16:23 "Overclocking the absolute nipples off of it." 😂
So the issue I have is, I have an r12 with a 3060ti.. and I have two Corsair ml120 (non rgb), and they install them just fine, however in AWCC they won’t go above 32% fan speed.
What program are you using to monitor your cpu/ fan/ temps etc? Thank you
Thank you man for all the Aurora videos.
There is a way to unlock it but your warranty would be voided.
glad to stumble across the channel and video as a new R11 owner (slammed that like/subscribe button), was a little disheartened to see how hot the computer was getting and unsure how to remedy the situation.. looking forward to what the addition of a fan will do
is there a reason why you didnt wedge the HD in the bottom left, does it need to remain locked in the brackets? could you simply place it or is there a reason to avoid doing this
Nice videos, thank you.!!! I've watched all your Alienware and Crypto videos and planning to add thermal paste and 2nd fan to lower temps. Is this fan compatible, the Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM, 4-Pin (120mm)?
@Treb Couer I've seen a few videos on R11/R12 fan mods using Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM, they all worked just fine.

1tb ssd and 2tb HDd is low expectations most people have up to 5 tbs average in their systems
He made a new video with how he fixed the GPU temps. Check it out, it works well!
Just wondering what’s the biggest size fan that will fit into this case???
Hey thanks for the video! I have a quick question, is the splitter for the fans compatible with two (4)pin corsair fans or is this splitter strictly for a 3pin/4pin set up
The R12 supports PCI-E Gen 4. I read it on Dell’s website. Just a random throw out. Lol
i will try bluetack to mount the fan lol i assume controlling the stock fan also controls the second fan you add? no separation here? also, will any fan work or does it have to be a specific one?
I experienced that the second intake fan creates an air jam under the GPU, therefore I installed an extra slot exhaust fan
