Literally as I’m watching this…Area 51 ALX - mind you this thing weighs just 60ish lbs? Your basically paying for thors hammer because the prices are ungodly expensive and it’s just too dang heavy and bulky to put anywhere, BUT I can’t fault the look and extraterrestrial feeling I get when I power it up - I got a one button external power switch embedded into my desk with the alien head key cap - it’s coming along!
I bought an R9 a couple years ago, was my first PC Gaming, i regret about that, was aweful, issues with CPU and GPU temperatures, reached above 85 celcius. When I tried to upgrade the GPU, guess what!, there were no GPU that fit inside the case!, that frustrated me a lot believe me, I opted to build by own PC and sell that Alienware garbage by parts. Never trust Alienware PCs are really bad. The design is not made for future proof. Please save your money and rather opt for build by your own.
Yea, I was listening to the prices of the headphones and keyboards etc and borderline dry heaving and then its 400$ for the sick display which is so much better value than those. Like, one of the keyboards was almost as much as that, the fuck? The keyboard, even the highest end one should not only be 100 dollars less than the high end monitor lmao
Since I was born legally blind, the Department for the Blind and Visually Impaired bought me a laptop for graduate school, and I picked an Alienware one that ended up being like 2-3 inches thick with SLI mobile graphics, this was in about 2008. I distinctly remember sitting in the front row one day with it plugged into the wall, and my database professor asking me: "What are you powering, a reactor?" when he saw the power brick.
@@abacus7087 legally blind doesn't mean you can't see at all, lol. It's just to stop people who are visually impaired from driving, etc. Most of the "blind" people I know can see, just not well.
An Alienware PC was my dream when I was a kid. Finally got an Aurora R14 a couple years ago with all the best components. Within a month it just quit, it was stuck on the Alienware booting screen. Hours on the phone with support and no luck. Had 2 techs out within 2-3 months, the 1st tech took hours taking everything apart and replacing what he did and was unable to fix anything. A 2nd different tech came out with more parts, replaced them and noticed the 1st tech broke the computers face plate, which I was unaware of, and of course ordered a new one and some more parts and needed to come out again at a later time. The 2nd tech came out again, replaced more and the computer was still unable to get off the boot screen. The motherboard, RAM, GPU, CPU, everything was replaced multiple times with no avail. Even the tech was stumped. The very expensive computer was returned, I ordered one through NZXT with all the newest parts. Got it and had no issues. Eventually the 3090 went out and I contacted the company. I sent the computer back, it the graphics card replaced and couldn't be happier. Long story short I returned all the Alienware accessories I bought Including the computer.
As much as i hate how overpriced Alienware stuff is and how its just better in general to make your own pc or pick out parts and have someone else make it you probably just got really unlucky here.
@@_waggersrefresh rate isn't everything. Cheap monitors with high refresh rates sacrifice on picture quality. A.k.a terrible contrast, brightness, and color accuracy
it defo wasnt too bad back in the day, i bought my first gaming PC for around 600$ when i was 14 and it lasted until i was about 19 and needed something meaty for the big AAA games that loves to suck performance out of ur PC these days cuz they dont want to optimise their games
I really love Alienware, every time I build my PC, I just go to their website copied their specs then build my own accordingly. The result always make me feel like I saved a lot of money.
@@kylerpointerify Cool, but where is the fun in that? Building your own rigs is fun, and most satisfying when you power it up for the first time and every-time, at least until it is time to build another. Then rinse and repeat.
Build redux specifically wanted to sponsor this video. They knew exactly how to use this golden opportunity Edit*: I see a lot of people say build redux is also shit. No clue tbh, I'm not from N.A. And as far as I'm aware that's the only place they are active. Dell is active everywhere, and from the moment I came face to face with my first Alienware dell to repair I hated them. Because of all the proprietary bullshit they do which makes it almost unable to repair as your average Joe's PC shop. Build redux is just the better choice between these 2
The problem is that build redux used to have good prices, but they didn’t reduce them when prices of everything fell through the floor so now they suck 😢
@@Obi-Wan_Kenobi62just cause pricing going gown doesnt mean there cost to pay the product they stock on was cheaper they have to make profit on the cost they spend to acquire the parts
The moment he mentioned the sponsor all I could think was "this is not going to go great for alienware is it?" Never used either of them, but you don't have to in order to understand the marketing move it is to sponsor a review of a competitor.
@@luvwwe that's not how pc retailers work, they KNOW when there is going to be a price drop and will sell inventory at cost or at a loss (to restock) so that they don't lose money on it.

Alienware computers always looked really cool. I always knew they were more money than they deserved to be but whenever someone pulled out an Alienware laptop I had to take a look. My cousin had a m11 that was probably the coolest looking netbook you could buy.
@@luckaddiction882 kinda, but with way more external compatibility and features that while not worth the price, are at least genuinely good. I wouldn't buy an apple product even on a big sale, but I'd take Alienware at 30% sale.
I was the same in 03, I thought they were cool, Then I talked to others in my class who were more into computers then I was and they all said it was overpriced.
They were back then. They used to be a no compromise top of the line pc that was super expensive when there weren't alot of other gaming pre-built options. Before Dell bought them.
Linus: the io being part of the board is actually pretty cool GN Steve: this io is literally the biggest affront to pc building everywhere and to my being as a whole
@@Jehty_ Yeah, the problem comes if the IO breaks you'll need to change the whole motherboard (which you can´t buy one of those online) or just accept that you'll never be able to use the IO ever again.
@@Jehty_ that's the point. Why replace the *computer* when you can replace the parts. Fixed IO is *terrible* since it means a non standard mobo layout, which means it's literally an ewaste of a board (notice how it goes aaaaall the way to the front) meaning you can't even repurpose it with another case. Moreover, you can't do the inverse and slot new parts into that case because of the fact that the mountings and clearances are non standard. And sure, you can go ahead and say that prebuilts are not for those who want to build/iterate on their computer. And that's true and as good an argument as any. The point with this, what of the end of life of this machine? Will you just chuck it into the dump? Cause, like I said, if it ever breaks down you can't replace/service it yourself or even give it to your tech savvy family member or pc repair shop or e-swap place. And the fact is that this is just an internal design Dell has had for *years* and they're too stubborn or too beholden to their margins to invest in modernising their cases (yes I know tooling is expensive, but so is RMAing an entire computer and Dell is a big guy) The short of it is that this design "choice" is the pc equivalent of disposable plates. Yes, you can use them and they are convenient in specific use cases. But once they're done they're done and good luck trying to reuse it in the future.
I've been happy with my R15 that somehow contains a 4090. I got it during a sale and also as a refurbishment so I feel like the price was actually very fair. Even if the airflow isn't the best, the PC preforms quite well comparatively on 3dmark to other setups and it's a prebuilt with warranty. I find that hard to beat as someone who works a lot and doesn't have the time to tinker with stuff as much. I wanted to plug it in, play some games in 4k, and it does that quite well. I do miss the old days of wild automotive grade paint on the alienware desktops.
Its too bad Razer don't actually sell their own desktops. My dream desktop as a kid was a Falcon NW Tiki I believe, it looked sick and had some crazy performance. I remember reading a review in the Maximum PC mag
I remember when I was in like 7th grade I wanted to use all my savings (around 1200 dollars) to buy an Alienware laptop. Super happy I changed my mind and decided to build my own pc instead. Think I made the right choice all these years later.
@@aksha6356 In my country there is something called "Confirmation". Which requires affirming your belief in god... and then having a HUGE fucking party afterwards. I could easily see this being similar to that. Ive been to a few, and they can get a bit wild sometims. ...i didnt get that because i was not comfortable lying to a priest... instead i got slightly bigger presents for my 15th and 18th birthdays, though i dont really remember all the details on what i got (i think my og xbox 360 was one of them) but my sister, and both our cousins did.
I usually build my own PC but about 1.5-2 years ago, I decided to buy a top of the line Alienware PC (3090/5950x) for work. It was on sale and it was actually cheaper than if I had bought the parts separately. Believe it or not, I was also able to upgrade the pc by quite a bit too (added rams + 4tb nvme with a PCI e expansion card) People complain about the price/value a lot but if you get them on sale, their price are very decent. The PC is a beast and I never had any problems with it. I actually got less problems with it than having to deal with different pc parts+ diagnostics when something does not work. Customer service was pretty good too.
Yep, this is the way. Recently they ran a steep sale on R15 with 4090 - it was like $2600… a 4090 alone could run you $1700-2K. People who think AW is bad value don’t know how to buy things on sale lol.
So true. I got an i7/2070super for $1500 during covid, when it was impossible to get nvidia gpu's. The first gpu burned up after 3 months or so, and dell sent someone out to replace it at my house under warranty. No questions asked. Still running perfect. I just wish they wouldn't require oem ram.... But, dell has amazing deals, especially around black Friday and memorial day.
@@jccustoms2994funny you say that because I got a pc from redux. 3080 5800x 32 gb of ram. 2 tb of m.2 and I couldn’t get it to play half of the games I downloaded without a ton of troubleshooting myself. Their support sucks. After 3 years of it I now I have a Alienware otw.
LTT: The front io is just part of the board, that's pretty cool Gamers Nexus: What the heck are you doing? Why would you do this? This is destined for a landfill
@JohnnyInJapan Steve had a good point. Mobos die more often than most other components. Hence why you can buy old cpus for cheap but the boards go up or stay the same in price. If the board dies, you won't be able to go out and buy just any z690 or z790. Ull have to see if you can manage to find that exact board. And if you can't or because it's so difficult to find the price will make it hard to justify then into the trash it goes. All so you don't have to run a cable from the mobo to the case.
One is paid by alienware and the other one paid for the stuff. So yeah steeve forgive way less because he can say whatever he want, alienware don't have a word to say since they are not involved. I'm also curious if desktop coocked himself or finaly had a decent cooling, but sadly no figure at all.
@@foxs49er Not sure that's the front IO's fault. Dell's mobos are already completely proprietary (correct me if I'm wrong, but they don't even use standard power delivery - it's all 12V, but it's not the incoming 12VO standard, right?). So if the board died, you wouldn't be able to swap something new in anyway without also swapping out at least the PSU.
9:13 It is illegal in the EU. When I go to the Dutch DELL website for example it is not there and they just show you the price including TAX, as this is also required in the EU. Here in The Netherlands they are even working on making it so that online retailers are required to show the price from 2 weeks ago and maybe even changes in between now and 2 weeks ago. This is because it is illegal to change the price within 2 weeks before putting it on sale, like for example seeing something listed as NOW FOR ONLY 79,99 instead of 99,99, while it was always 79,99. With this they want to make it more transparent to consumers what the sale actually is.
I thought that was an apple idea? There are for sure 100's of knock off or cheaper brands making them magnetic break away cables for USB, and have been for some time now.
@@gearsmacker8598 We are in 2023 btw idk if you time traveled from the 2000s but wireless peripherals now are on par with wired and have been for a few years. Even if they have any latency its negligible, it has been tested through and through.
My first gaming laptop was an alienware 15. That thing was built like a tank. Still have it to this day and it even survived being fully submerged in a flood. Still works no issues somehow.
That's the thing with Alienware. You never know what you're gonna get. That thing is either as fragile as the people on social media today or built to outlast humanity twice
Agreed, it's pretty sweet. Would be even better if it was a "unified" dongle and the charging Dock thing was the same for the mouse and keyboard so you only have one of them laying on the table.
It's really not any better than a regular hub and a couple of cables with magnetic tips, just the tips 😏 would do really since you can just pull the cables away.
you can buy magnetic charger adapters they have for phones. I keep the metal contacts plugged into my gpro wireless and keyboard with a cable on the desk ready to charge either whenever.
I got an Alienware aurora r5 when they first came out and I loved it. Used it for years but she did run hot, was great in the winter time lol. Had an i7, 1080 nvidia, 850w supply and 16gb of ram.
I currently have an alienware that my brother convinced me to buy at the beginning of the pandemic. A few weeks ago he swapped out the case for one with better and It's going even stronger now.
Alienware was absolutely essential in creating the "gamer design" and gaming as a consumer lifestyle category. Their victory destroyed them when other brands took the vibe and reduced prices into being indistinguidhable with value.
@@TalesOfWarWell, as one of "those" Guys who are really Into Razer stuff and RGB in General, I personally prefer it over my Desk looking Like I Couldnt let the 50's Go haha. But to each their own. Alienwares Branding is similar to Razer really aggressive so thats obviously Not for everyone.
Alienware/dell sent me an AW3821DW as part of a warranty exchange for a 34 inch ultrawide model that was a few years older and about $1000 less than the one they sent me. I thoroughly enjoy the new (to me) monitor - i have never had HDR and gsync ultimate before. Im seriously considering one of their laptops due to how well they treated me
I had to do 3 RMAs for my AW3418DW, the first had insane back light bleed, the 2nd had huge visible gashes in the metal & plastic bezel, and the third still had horrible back light bleed, but I just gave up trying with dell anymore. The customer service reps always made me feel like it was my fault their product malfunctioned. Plus, being promised I would be sent a new unit, only to get an obviously refurbed obviously used one days after dropping $1500 was pretty insulting as well. No more dellalienware ever again for me
For these types of videos, Adam usually has the "salesperson who's sick of his job for his company so he's now just being honest about their products" vibe. lol
i recently got the Aurora R16, the same one in the video, but i gave it a 13th gen i9-13900F, up the ram to 32 GB, and added a 1 TB HDD, its treated very well coming from an i7 9900k, 16 GB of Ram, and a 1060 3 GB. I have to say its def a major upgrade for me, and honestly worth every penny.
Nah. What's crazy is that the entire last hundred years is filled with case studies virtually identical to it: "Company starts and is amazing. Company gets bought by a huge corporation. Corpo changes everything and now it's hot garbage." ALL THE FUCKING TIME. Alienware. Edwards Theaters. Wizards of the Coast. Lucasfilm. EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE. And nobody learns the fucking lesson.
On the note of keyboards, you can get a very solid keeb for around $100 before extras. You just have to do your research. Got my Epomaker EP84 (make sure to get the updated version) for $100 and it was damn good stock. Only replaced the keycaps because I wanted to. Would have been perfectly content with it stock though, and didn't have to spend $200.
you can get good mechanical ones for even $50. ok, the background elum is not evenly colored on mine, but its individual per cap. but its like a personal choice whats good enough for you. most just server very well.
I had one in 2005, I convinced my parents to buy it for me for school, because the Dell that the school recommended was $200 more expensive, but worse. Later Dell would go on to buy Alienware and make all of their computers more expensive, but worse
Good to see the brand has improved. My friend and I bought high end laptops at the same time. He insisted on Windows; an Alienware MX14. I insisted on a 15” MacBook Pro with the disc drive. Within a year he was having critical thermal issues, and by 2014, it was to the point where he had to sit it on top of a household fan, oriented horizontally, with the bottom plate removed from the Laptop, for apparently critical air-flow… My MacBook Pro lasted until 2022. Made several upgrades & mods to it, serviced thermal paste, still ticking. Sister uses it currently for music production.
The laptops for the last couple of years have treated me sooooo well. The last two have been legit. Want to get an 17x2 now. Problem is most of the ones with 3080 on sale have 1080 screen.
I had an Alienware Alpha R2 for a long time, great little machine and I think it's Alienware's best PC they've made. I still think the Area 51 (2015) is the coolest case they've made, and the Aurora R16 is a sleek design too.
@@idrinkalmondmilk2918 from a quality standpoint, and a performance/airflow standpoint, alien cases have always been among the worst of the entire prebuilt sector. only the solid glass MSI cases are worse. inside, they use the identical stamping and steel parts that come from the cheap Inspiron cases. you pay THAT much for an inspiron case with some plastic tacked on the outside. literally. watch the gamers nexus comparison, they SHOW it. pathetic junk. (im a system builder with 25 years experience in the gaming sector, and over 4000 gaming systems built by hand)
After owning an alienware m11x laptop, im glad to see they learned and now have good airflow and fans to go with it on their new laptops. that old laptop used to burn my legs with the metal plate on the bottom
Damn... The magnetic breakaway dongle/charging is actually pretty neat. I hope the idea works itself into products from other companies like Logitech (almost anything to get them away from micro B - what is wrong with them?)
@@__Lento__ you don't. You unplug the magnetic part to use the mouse and thus the dongle is connected to the computer with the usb cable and located close to the mouse. @@JohnnyInJapan Can't blame him for the criticism of that Alienware desktop though - completely proprietary case and MB means no upgrades without just replacing the whole thing.
"All the front IO is just right on the board, so there's no internal wiring, okay that's pretty cool" **Distant screaming from Steve from GamersNexus**
I've had problems with USB devices and ports just breaking when they're on the side of a laptop. I don't see that being as much of a problem when the IO comes out the back, kudos on alienware for having a really good solution to that super specific problem I have, gives me a reason to consider them in the future.
For what's meant to be a gaming laptop, it's actually a really good solution. You just don't want to have anything on the sides. Ergonomics while gaming are more important than the ease of access.
It's interesting that Linus' response to the I/O being on the mobo is "cool". While Steve from GN didnt seem to like it and pointed out that this makes the board proprietary and unable to or difficult to replace with another mobo if the mobo dies after warranty period. Mobos do die more often than most other components. Something Linus has pointed out in the past when talking about buying old CPUs is that the mobos up in price because they die while CPUs live effectively forever.
I am literally on the floor taking apart a Dell Alienware ALX Area 51 desktop mammoth of a PC- to bring it back to life! The irony 😅 also got my screwdriver and mystery sweater!!! I never understood why they made these desktops the weight of a small elephant
Well, usually that at least means it got a decent PSU. Also things like drive slots and zero tooling, shrouds and fans will add to the weight. Glass panels won't help either. But uh, yes, buy a mini-ITX with GPU option and you can build a PC with a lot less weight. What are you going to do, add SATA drives to it?
Alienware was awesome over a decade ago, not so much anymore though. I remember when they released the M11X 11" gaming laptop back in 2010, that thing was an awesome mini gaming laptop!
I actually went for all alienware setup this year, because it was a very reasonable option. 34 oled 165hz monitor + 17inch laptop with i9 12th gen, 3080Ti, 32GB, 480hz 1080p panel + mechanical keyboard, high end mouse and decent headset cost me all about 2750$ (with premium d2d warranty).
Those keyboard prices are outrageous. I recently managed to get a Magegee Sky89 from Temu for basically free and I cannot believe how good it types for something so dang cheap. Not quite replacing my Razer Black Widow Pro, but it's become my "chuck in the back pack and use in the office" board
I built my daughter a kickass gaming PC in the shell of an old Alienware Area 51 R5. It was a pain in the ass, but it is such an interesting and iconic case I couldn't resist.
Only alienware product I own is the QD oled ultrawide and it was well worth the price in my opinion. I was a massive upgrade from my Asus office monitor I was using before. It did cost more than what I paid for my PC parts though 😭
I'm 48 and getting back into PC gaming after a 25 year hiatus. I decided to go with a desktop replacement solution and landed on the Alienware M18 i9 13900HX RTX4800 1TB SSD 32GB RAM and partnered it with the AW510K keyboard (LOVE this keyboard!) and the AW620M gaming mouse (don't love but don't hate). For my at-home gaming screen I was able to pick up a LG UltraGear 27GL83A-B for $250 off Amazon. I know there's MUCH better setups out there, but I am very happy with my choices. Playing Diablo IV, Dying Light 2, Baldur's Gate 3, and Sons of Forest, I am running all in Ultra or Epic modes and gaming is smooth and gorgeous!
This is almost my exact same setup - R15 with RTX4090, AW720M mouse and AW920K keyboard. The ONLY things I didn't get from Alienware/Dell is the monitor as I opted to go with the Samsung Odyssey Ark 55 inch and Secret Labs Titan Evo XL gaming chair. I wanted an Alienware monitor but they don't make a 4k monitor sadly LOVE ALIENWARE!!!!
Your videos are getting increasingly addictive! The more I watch the more I like the craziness! All my TH-cam time is being consumed by LTT! Good to see Linus again leading the videos since last few months!
I've got an Alienware x17 R2, and I kinda love it. They FINALLY nailed cooling with the crazy 4-fan setup, and the mechanical keyboard on it is, bar none, the best laptop keyboard I've ever known. Would I have bought it at MSRP? Hell no. But I got it as a replacement for an older system from Alienware which had less good cooling. They're current gen (and last gen) laptops are pretty great, and the 3080 Ti in mine is max wattage. All of that being said, I wouldn't buy any of their other peripherals, nor would I buy their desktop (I'd build my own). :-)
Unfortunately on PC part picker it's a little more expensive than this desktop if you do the same cpu and gpu combo. Ram and storage you always buy separately,m since Dell upcharges.
Being able to configure these in AWCC is awesome in itself. I love Alienware, some of their laptop configuration limitations are annoying...but love them just the same.
I've never considered alienware for a desktop option, but I will say I had an alienware R17 with a 980m from 2015-2021, while I was in the army and it's performance was phenomenal. It held up with all the big, graphically intensive titles while I had it. It hung in with me for a deployment to Afghanistan and a rotation to kuwait. If u were to ever get another gaming laptop it would be alienware.
I had an Alienware m17x laptop, dual gpu Radeon 6700 (i believe). Amazing laptop back in the day. It run pretty cool without a lot of noise (thats what i think, but i prefer cooling over noise. I just wear headphones + i work on a ship where always is noise around you. So i am used to noise). Costed 4k though, i will never buy a laptop of that price point again.
I have owned a number of Alienware PCs. Aurora 7500, Aurora R3, Aurora R11, and M17x R4. Used Dell UltraSharp 24-inch monitors, and the Alienware 2521HF monitor. I only have purchased the everything extended (5 year) warranty. My Aurora R3 had a number of warranty calls - 1 stick of RAM, 1 SSD, 1 PSU, and 3 video cards (GTX 770). Out of warranty had a video signal loss issue - solved that with a GTX 1060 which used less wattage than the 770. My Aurora R11 (current rig) was a software call. Out of the box, the Alienware software for updates did not work. Tech said it was a common issue - had to manually install a new version. Dell UltraSharps and the 2521HF awesome monitors for image quality. Though my UltraSharp for my Aurora 7500 did have an odd tilt to the right if pointed out. As for peripherals I have avoided them. They are overall disappointing. Their basic keyboard had some key press issues, and their branded higher end mouse died early. On the other hand their old hard surface with rubber bottom mouse pads were good (came with the computers).
Alienware is hit or miss, honestly. I bought one back in 2020 because it was actually a better deal than trying to build my own computer. I opted for the liquid cooler, which included the motherboard heatsinks, and it honestly wasn't a bad computer. Their desktops, you really need to configure it properly to be decent, but their laptops are actually pretty good.
The thing with laptops is that unless the thing is really beefy in size to permit 'proper' cooling, you're going to get either thermal throttling on the GPU and CPU, or the manufacturing would have to downclock both to avoid making a timebomb disguised as a consumer electronic.
It'd be interesting to hear yall's opinions on the alienware software that comes preinstalled to the systems and maybe your interactions with the peripheral software. You dont really get to test the software before you buy the device and i have seen a lot of very badly designed mouse configurators. Similiarly how bloatly/intrusive feeling the preinstalled software is.
I'm still enjoying my cheapo Dell- I'm actually really impressed with how well built the system is, and this Alienware looks to be built similarly. They are built like tanks inside.
I've got mouses...keyboard...and headphones...they work and I've had them over 3yrs now...finally killed my Deathadder by spilling a drink on it...only complaint...sometimes the Razer software doesn't work right...
@@MrHardTruck you should try an audiophile grade non-gaming headphone priced equivalent to whatever gaming headphone you're currently using and you'll see what I mean. Gaming headphones are a scam mostly no matter what brand. I have Blackshark V2 X which are not USB and non gaming iems and headphones half the price of it sound far better.
the only thing razer makes that's actually good are the mice, keyboards are trash, headphones and earbuds are trash, you'll look cool but the majority of their products are simply gilded garbage
Just got an R16 and it's awesome. Fast and quiet. If a pre built is fine for you then I recommend. I'm not into modding constantly so it's fine for me. Hello there
Literally as I’m watching this…Area 51 ALX - mind you this thing weighs just 60ish lbs?

Since I was born legally blind, the Department for the Blind and Visually Impaired bought me a laptop for graduate school, and I picked an Alienware one that ended up being like 2-3 inches thick with SLI mobile graphics, this was in about 2008.

Linus: the io being part of the board is actually pretty cool
GN Steve: this io is literally the biggest affront to pc building everywhere and to my being as a whole
Why did Steve think that?
It's not like someone buying a PC like that will ever want to upgrade the front IO or anything like that 🤷🏼♀️
@@Jehty_ Yeah, the problem comes if the IO breaks you'll need to change the whole motherboard (which you can´t buy one of those online) or just accept that you'll never be able to use the IO ever again.
@@AND1TFC is that something that happens?
Especially on a computer that you will replace in just a few years.
And the fact is that this is just an internal design Dell has had for *years* and they're too stubborn or too beholden to their margins to invest in modernising their cases (yes I know tooling is expensive, but so is RMAing an entire computer and Dell is a big guy)
The short of it is that this design "choice" is the pc equivalent of disposable plates. Yes, you can use them and they are convenient in specific use cases. But once they're done they're done and good luck trying to reuse it in the future.
@@Dudae_ you seem to forget that front IO is not an integral part of a PC.

@@JohnnyInJapan That's called having standards.

8:20 “aliens” I’m dead 💀
I love my Alienware Aurora R16 I just bought that and a 42 inch monitor!! I used to use an R15 R3 Laptop
"All the front IO is just right on the board, so there's no internal wiring, okay that's pretty cool"
**Distant screaming from Steve from GamersNexus**
I've had problems with USB devices and ports just breaking when they're on the side of a laptop. I don't see that being as much of a problem when the IO comes out the back, kudos on alienware for having a really good solution to that super specific problem I have, gives me a reason to consider them in the future.
I'm sure left handed folks appreciate it as well.
Steve is right, but also, it’s an Alienware so in all likelihood it’s e-waste the second anything on it fails at all unfortunately.
The only thing alienware i have on my system is the monitor and I am glad they used the same one I have. Made the video more interesting for me.
14:54 ummm... pause?
That one weird friend be like:
(I am that one weird friend)
I actually went for all alienware setup this year, because it was a very reasonable option. 34 oled 165hz monitor + 17inch laptop with i9 12th gen, 3080Ti, 32GB, 480hz 1080p panel + mechanical keyboard, high end mouse and decent headset cost me all about 2750$ (with premium d2d warranty).
Adam casually saying "I want to hear it scream." is the most accidental serial killer thing I've ever heard.
came here to say this. let hope he sticks to computers!.
Adam is so laid back that he has a calming effect on Linus!😅
I agree with the keyboard part. I bought a Corsair K55 RGB Pro and I love it.
Linus: the front IO ports are on the motherboard. That's genius.
Steve from GamersNexus: Let me send you a timestamp of my disassembly video :)
5 seconds into the video and linus almost dropped something already 😭
Not 5, but a mere 2 second😭😭
hes doing it on purpose now and its getting annoying how obviously hard hes trying.
Man as a kid I thought the Alienware cases was ,so sick haha. Was a dream setup for sure
lmao who even got those cases as a kid its mad expensive
@mh7a135 Oh ya for sure! I never had it haha
12:30 "I wanna hear it scream". This is why I watch this channel
That dock with a qi charger on it is actually a great idea.
I always build my own pc's. Have since the mid to late 80s. Things sure have changed. 😊
It's been a cool ride 😎
I love how Linus almost breaks his expensive tech almost every video 💀💀
QA testing while shooting a review video. Mad lad right
Gotta love Alienware early 00s cases but with RGB to make it look gamer
RGB +100 fps
I wanted an Alienware monitor but they don't make a 4k monitor sadly
LOVE ALIENWARE!!!!
I gotta say even though its expensive, its really quite satisfying to have it. Im glad i got the r15 man, what a beautiful piece of hardware.
@@BeautifulMan4015Yes bro R15 design is 🔥
More videos with Adam! You guys make an interesting pair!
That's a cute soundbar, I didn't know something like that exist, 😅 probably nice to have in small space setup
Your videos are getting increasingly addictive! The more I watch the more I like the craziness! All my TH-cam time is being consumed by LTT! Good to see Linus again leading the videos since last few months!
5:05 is the most Linus thing I've seen all month
14:23 BUT CAN YOU DO THIS?! pewds meme reference.
👏 👏
12:47 THAT WAS NOT MY FA-
I've got an Alienware x17 R2, and I kinda love it.
Proprietary motherboard with ports linked to the board: GN: "Not upgradeable and anti-consumer." LTT: "That's pretty cool!" Come on guys.
Linus Drop Tips strikes again! 5:10
Love how there is literally no mention of what game they're running to test the rig lol
Returnal
Just absolutely impeccable delivery @14:55
I've never considered alienware for a desktop option, but I will say I had an alienware R17 with a 980m from 2015-2021, while I was in the army and it's performance was phenomenal. It held up with all the big, graphically intensive titles while I had it. It hung in with me for a deployment to Afghanistan and a rotation to kuwait.
If u were to ever get another gaming laptop it would be alienware.
Yeah for chonkey gaming laptops there's not much other options, I think ROG makes some good ones too
I had an Alienware m17x laptop, dual gpu Radeon 6700 (i believe). Amazing laptop back in the day. It run pretty cool without a lot of noise (thats what i think, but i prefer cooling over noise. I just wear headphones + i work on a ship where always is noise around you. So i am used to noise). Costed 4k though, i will never buy a laptop of that price point again.
Imagine playing a game and the dongle just breaks away...
0:50 Linus showing his dad side 😅😂 the guy looking like a confused teen 😂
Where is a x16 with a 4080 for $2700 ? Don’t worry I’ll wait.
Can't wait to see all this Alienware gear auctioned off at the next LTX!
he might surprise us for next year and sell it instead
I just LOVE the way Linus is honest that's why we check here first to get a heads up. He's like that's good that's not that's it. Dig it man
It'd be interesting to hear yall's opinions on the alienware software that comes preinstalled to the systems and maybe your interactions with the peripheral software.
This was great! Would love to see, “the all Razer setup,” to see whether Razer truly deserves the title: for gamers, by gamers
I don't know about other Razer products but never buy headphones from them.
@@ahsan.v8I have the opposite experience. As long as you don't buy usb headphones the quality is really good, atleast in my case
And unlike some that you build yourself, I have never had any issues with any of my Dell or Alienware computers. They're pricey, but I paid what I think is fair.
“Your butts never gonna be asleep when it’s deep and firm” 💀💀
