    I think you can add another fan in the front of the case for additional intake and possibly a fan to the back for exhaust, and have the top fan bringing fresh air in from the top of the case through the WC. If you wanted, I guess you could even have the WC fans in a push/pull configuration. That Alienware case seems starved for air.

    • @RyanYu
      @RyanYu  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly buddy, it is too starved for the air. haha. But after this little modification, it has been working fine to me. Thank you for the sub BTW! Thank you.

      I saw a guy who actually mounted a second intake fan up top of the front where the mechanical HDD would be mounted. So he left the stock one in the top of the case because it is a pain in the ass to remove, and then just upgraded the stock fan in the bottom front and added an extra fan. Huge difference in cooling. I do not understand why they would put the fan down low where the GPU is as the GPU has its own cooling system....
      People shitting on these computers while I guess it is warranted to an extant, for some people it is the only way of getting a nice PC and for a few bucks you really can remove all heating issues which is a huge knock on the PC.

      I just did this as well, everything is working as it should, but I keep getting an error when booting up that the top fan isn’t functioning, but it is, and is even responsive to my custom curves. I’ve checked all plugs, checked and made sure that nothing is hitting the blades as they’re spinning, but I keep getting the error whenever I boot up the system. Thoughts?

    I am going to do this fan swap in the next few days as the stock top fan is starting to make a rattle noise!
    Had a look inside but everything looks fine so not sure why the fan started to make a sort of resonating rattle - if I put the tower on its side then the noise goes away. I am certain it is the fan making the noise though.
    I'll be replacing top and front fan with ML 120 pros. I noticed on some other videos they did not remove the full metal housing, just the radiator and the fan, I may also do it this way because the big metal housing is very fiddly and tricky to put back in, but you managed quite easily!

      @@RyanYu Hi friend. I finally did it today and it took about maybe 30 minutes. I did exactly the same thing and only replaced the existing fans. You're right it is not too hard but your video helped a lot tso thanks. I also used the video of the other youtuber who did the same mod with push/pull - I may do this in a few weeks but for now I think this is enough.
      When I first started AWCC I was a bit worried because it said "no alienware components detected" !!! but after a few seconds it worked.
      These fans are so much quieter compared to the stock fans. They seem to be doing a much better job. From what I understand 0-20% is low, then 20-40% is medium, and then 40-60% is high so I dont think I will see the fan speed % go above 60%.
      Still playing with fan curves but happy with the mod.

    I have just purchased the R10 and completed this mod with your videos help, I really like your videos and helped me a lot. I have actually done this mod twice. The first time with the fans you used and the 2nd time with Noctua fans. I also took the HDD out and moved it to one of the smaller bays below and added and 80mm fan in its original location since my system seemed to be generating lot of heat. I was wondering if anyone needs these fans since I'm not using them I am looking to get rid of the corsair and keep the Noctuas in place also I have a 64GB kit of RAM that I'm trying to part with. I suggest using Kryonaut paste, you will see a few more degrees drop off the average temps during heavy load tasks. Also, you mentioned the Dell fan is cheap, its actually a good fan that can move A LOT of air, but at the cost of lots of noise. This way Dells solution to overheating issues. The corsair fans can move even more air at lower rpm, giving you a lot more cooling. The push and pull configuration is a very good upgrade because of how short the loop is in that AIO. It ensures more radiator vanes are being cooled.

    I removed 3.5" hdd metal base and added a fan, I used a Y splitter connected to the front fan, and the new fan started to spinning, but once OS is loaded, new fan stopped, what I found is that Y splitter in one of the terminals has only three pins instead of four, so I connected the new fan to "CPU FAN" connector and fan started to work with a lot of noise
    Fortunately I had a noctua fan and used the cable labeled as "low noise", now the fan is quietly spinning, I did not tried to upgrade fans, only added a new fan, not sure if temperature is better, processor is between 47°C - 50°C and GPU GTX 1060 is around 54°C
