I believe the "Sonic Boom takes place in Sonic's mind" is from a joke in the episode "Just a Guy" where Sonic goes to his happy place, and then his happy place inside his happy place. He wakes up from both of those, but then we see another layer featuring a live-action human with Sonic's quills and scarf taking out a bag of trash who says "Whoops, one too many" in Sonic's voice.
I’m amazed you remember that, I still watch it to this day! (Mostly because I can’t afford anything past Season 1 Volume 1-3.)

Pretty sure "Robotnik is the hero" is a reference to how he was initially designed to be the protagonist of what would become Sonic 1, but was repurposed as the main villain.
I investigated this now and you're absolutely correct! he was supposed to be a caricature of Theodore Roosevelt and was one of the initial designs for a new mascot ro replace Alex Kidd

There's no way the Sonic redesign was planned from the beginning. They had many merch lines like Halloween costumes with the old design in production but not the redesign
Honestly, I think the merch line was part of the trick. Only hardcore Sonic fans and parents taking their kids to watch "the cool video game character movie" were going to watch a post "redesign" Sonic Movie, nor buy the merch line for that matter. But the redesign gave them immaculate levels of coverage that was triple what they would have gotten without it. Can you imagine how many people bought THAT Sonic mask because of how ugly it was? Either I'm giving the media/marketing team too much credit, or both teams just finessed a +80% increase in ticket and pre-redesign merch sales off the biggest brain play in licensed tie-in movie history.

In some places, there was merch with the old design released like Japan with baby sonic.
People who believe this theory clearly know nothing about how movies are made and how movie studios make money. Sure it turned out pretty well for Paramount, but they would never pull a stunt like this, it's way to risky, specially for a movie as big as sonic.
Several leaks for designs similar to the "original" one also disprove the idea that it was on purpose. Also if this were true the information would be out there somewhere, they had to extend the post-production process for the movie so they could replace sonic in every scene, if that never happened/was a hoax of course the VFX artists of the studio employed would say something about it.
Also the studio that worked on sonic *literally* closes its doors so yeah

IIRC Penders won the case because they couldn't find a copy of his contract with SEGA when he was given the rights of making the Sonic comic, either because he stole it or due to negligence by the HR department.
Actually it was even dumber, Archie lost Penders contract due to a fire incident. That's right, they never made a copy of an legal document.
Also I think the character shade also help start the lawsuit or I am thinking of a different one

You will still die but the funny thing is that the fire affects will be activated while you grind.
I have no idea how to activate though. I just happen to stumble upon it during on my SA2 playthorughs.

@@mouseonthestreets8675 Because "mediocre" by definition is the worst an art thing can be, at least for me. It's not bad enough to be analyzed, memorable or just ironically enjoyable, but it's not good enough to actually enjoy it. It's not memorable, it's not soulful, it's not charming. It's just a piece of trash that was made to capitalize on a brand. That's the worst art can be to me.

The guy who did the "Infinite Fun Screen" (Majin) is actually the same guy who did the voice for sonic when sonic says "I'm out'a here" when you stay idle for 3 minutes in sonic cd
Lots of little bits of detail are missed or misinterpreted (ie; Robotnik originally being the protagonist of Sonic 1, the Dunkey sound in Mania has been removed which you didn't meantion) But overall, great video! I'm happy that it wasn't just a bunch of stupid Sonic Twitter memes

This was really funny, man. This was honestly more entertaining than a lot of other iceberg videos. Good job.
Although I've seen someone say Sonic is nomadic, so he travels and doesn't have a certain area he calls home, there is some Sonic the Screensaver artwork that depicts Sonic looking through a Telescope; in fact it's the one in my profile picture, and you can see a house in the background. Seeing how there's also a mailbox with "Sonic" on it in the same artwork, I'd assume it's his house. Alot of Sonic the Screensaver art actually just depicts Sonic doing average everyday things, which I find nice
"Robotnik is a hero" entry somewhat makes sense because originally he was going to be the protagonist and the hero, but then his role was changed to villain and Sonic becomes the hero.
I think the "super sonic is his own entity" is referring to the fact in Sonic Adventure, Tails says "Super Sonic must have neutralized it" making it sound like Sonic and Super Sonic are different entities.
Honestly I think I remember hearing stuff about Sonic 06 being made bad on purpose by the developers. Can't really remember why though. I'll edit the comment once I get more info.

13:00 the sonic statue in the moutains isn't the big of a mystery (or at least isn't anymore). There is a youtuber (Badnik Mechanic) that has 2 videos about it, who has detailed it's full story.
the tl;dr of it is that when the arcade went under, sega didn't want the statue. so it went to an employee, who moved outside his house in the mountains. The statue has gotten repaired this year due to all the coverage about it.

Wow, I am stunned by the quality of this video. The editing is superb, the title cards are amazing, and the research you put in to this iceberg is phenomenal! One gripe I did have tho is that the transition slides from one theory to the next were a tad bit fast. Had to go and rewind and pause just to read what it said. Also, you talk very fast, which isn’t a bad thing, just maybe next time take it a little slower that’s all (: keep up the great work, you just earned a sub!

This is probably the best made Sonic Iceberg video. All the others have people that know zero about Sonic lol. The editing on this video is also pretty well done.
The "Madin" thing is a nickname one of the developers of Sonic CD left. He also left that nickname in Shenmue.
Sonic doesn’t need a house because he’s so fast.
That would literally be something that sega would say, and it kinda makes sense. Sonic is known for running so it would seem weird that he just stayed at one place. He can run around the world in the blink of an eye, for god sake.

4:17 - SA2B surprisingly didn’t remove all of these. Big will run onto the screen if you mash the A button, apparently. I thought that was a myth until I got him to run by Amy in her final cutscene with Shadow.
I'm sure someone else has commented this but you didn't mention in the video the reason why Ken Penders won his lawsuit against Archie. Apparently Ken Penders had signed some sort of documentation that his characters belonged to Archie, but when it came time for those documents to be useful in the court case, Archie just couldn't find them. This brought some people to believe that Ken Penders stole them so that he could still do his echidna bullshit independent of Archie's comics.
Fun Fact: Penders is still using his legally-won characters to this day. Just recently (November 2nd) Penders tweeted a finished title page for his next Lara-su Chronicles comic. And yes, it looks fucking atrocious. Even his long time fans hate it.

The Sonic Adventure DLCs aren’t actually lost, nor are they recreations. The versions you can download on PC are just ports of the DLC files. The Kadomatsu DLC was the only one that was really lost until it was found on a Japanese 4x VMU in November 2019.

I think Amy's tarot cards are mentioned in the manual of Sonic CD. I can't remember if it's the Japanese or US version of it since there's some different details in them.
That was a pretty good video, but there are a lot of small things you missed. Which is probably the reason why most iceberg videos have a health meter to show how sure the person is. For example, Sonic does indeed have a house in Sonic and the secret rings and since it is mentioned in Generations and Genertions is mentioned in Forces, he just have to assume that it's canon
Could be misremembering but I believe he had one in Sonic Battle as well? He retrieved Emerl in a beach and ended up carrying him to a neighborhood he’s in around the beginning of the game. I’d say he may have one in Chronicles but that was probably Tails’ workshop.

23:15 : Well, it's something that I've discovered just yesterday in a totally random and unrelated way, but one of the songs in the "Sonic Rush" soundtrack samples the beginning of the song "Bring the Noise", by Public Enemy. And it's this one who have the sample from the Malcolm X speech, so it had just been re-used. If you check the Wikipedia entry of "Bring the Noise", you'll see!
Oh, and the video was really damn good.
Rouge's eye will go wonky in her boss battle with Flying Dog if she's climbing on one of the metal fences. Not sure if anyone noticed that, but I've known about it ever since I played SA2: Battle back in 2002.

I can give a headsup others had explained in Sonic 2s development regarding 'Genocide City' as it rather was a name the devs were using prior to actually knowing the words meaning 😅 and the stage itself was repurposed into the 3rd Act of the only Sonic 2 zone to do so: Metropolis. Or well at least what ideas of it were kept.

Popful Mail was going to be "Localized" as Sister Sonic for the Sega CD. However after fan backlash, they just translated it. But Popful Mail did get a release in the west on the Sega CD.

Popful Mail DID get a localized release on Sega CD. The US boxart is literally the first thing that comes up on Google. It's a really good game too.
