As an adult who has only just started playing minecraft, can I just say that I am absolutely fascinated by how these “scary” theories are almost identical to the urban legends we told each other when I was a kid. Children will be children, but now their culture is in minecraft
i have been following this game as a kid since its pre-alpha builds and i was never that much into the community but i remember when i was playing outside with the other kids at night and the oldest one would sometimes try to scare us by telling creepy minecraft stories he made up. It was really fun

the evoker sound "Wololoo!" is a direct reference to the game Age of Empires, where monks converting enemy troops play the exact same sound, "Wololoo!". when enemy troops are converted, they switch over to the monks side, and the color of their clothing changes. this is again referenced in Minecraft, because if you put an evoker near a dyed sheep (either blue or red), the evoker can switch the sheep's wool color from blue to red, and vice versa.

does anyone remember in the old version of bedrock that at the build limit on the edge of the world, there was an endless solid area you could stay on?
I had a (possibly unofficial) version of Minecraft Pocket Edition for my ancient iPad. The worlds were really small, and at the world border was an endless void; I recall in creative mode you could fly above the build limit and walk on it, and you could walk endlessly in any direction. Closing the world and respawning would result in you reappearing within the bounds of the world border again. Is that what you're referring to?
Yeah.

It’s actually the priest sound effect from age of empires II. Since Microsoft now owns Minecraft and age of empires it likely was added to spark nostalgia in the people who used to/still play pre 2000 games.

Jeb has stated that the wither is actually inspired by the game terraria and its summonable boss mechanic. Both of the games seem to be quite friendly with each other, with both having splash texts saying "also try [other game]", and terraria has a vanity creeper costume you can obtain during the halloween season.
“cave noises happen in real life” if youve ever been around caves youd understand. they occasionally make creepy rumbling sounds if you stand outside by the opening. i used to cave all the time as a kid so its not new to me. basically the cave acts as a tube to focus and amplify the vibrations from the rocks and stuff moving in the earths crust which makes weird sounds from the caves.
Finnaly Information
Wow thats really interesting, thank you
the more you know~
Life is so interesting and scary at the same time.
especially the sounds like the wind cave noise in minecraft that one can obviously happen irl, maybe not cave noise 13 though lol (i think its that one)
As much of a meme as herobrine is, I always thought the “removed herobrine” note was interesting as it implies that mojang keeps trying to get him out of the game, but he won’t leave, which is an interesting lore tidbit.
It's marked as a negative
@@doughboywhine negative as in removal
Umm 1.16 didnt remove it...
Never thought of it that way. Interesting theory
I read (a long time ago though) the joke behind it is that it's marked with a - instead of a +, but it also uses the word removed which implies it's a double negative and so herobrine is actually added each update.
17:35 actually the steve spawn egg did exist, although I believe the steve mob it spawned was simply called called "monster"
the mob itself was removed in 1.6, but the spawn egg could be given with commands up to at least 1.7 (thats the last I remember seeing it, it likely existed past that but has been removed since then). It was a colorless egg which did nothing, but in 1.6 and prior it would spawn the steve mob from those early alpha versions
Getting back into MC since I got a cape out of nowhere last week. Your content is 10/10 sir
I'm actually kind of disappointed that most of the things in the lower levels are just made up or stupid memes.
Edit: Now there is a part 2, part 3 and even 4 where he talked more about obscure alpha/beta features and interesting theories. That's just the things i love about iceberg pictures👍
I was too tbh
There has to be more obscure things to add.
Bread From the Dimension of Frosted Plants I kind of mentioned it at the end but there are definitely some strange things from the very early days of the game. Like at one point I seem to remember starting the game with a stone house. Some other things that come to mind are chain mail being crafted with fire and the void fog. Another thing is the Game Theory videos. I never really watched them before researching this video, but he does a good job of thinking about how strange the game is. For example, we just sort of get used to enderman, but they’re actually pretty weird when you think about it. My hope is that more interesting things are going to show up, especially since Minecraft is having a renaissance of sorts.
@@RetroGamingNow there is another Iceberg by Reddit user Probot748 that features more legit stuff, and I think it's a better Iceberg.
@@drasto5834 Yes, I found it. It actually has a bunch of the stuff I wanted to add plus a few things I hadn't heard about. I'm working on making a second video to explain the stuff that isn't on this iceberg.

Great video. You did a lot of research.
8:20 The End *was* actually supposed to be the replacement for the Sky Dimension! In fact, back in the day when you went there, for the dimension area in the F3 debug menu, it used to say "Sky" because of it being built using its leftover coding. They changed this in 1.8. Similarly, the Nether is marked as "Hell" because of the same process
(There was also once a very early build version of the Sky Dimension in the game too, but that was scrapped and removed when they added the End.)
i remember this!
