I also noticed that the Swiss Tech 18 in 1, model ML-2002, handles are stiff enough to not get misaligned when in closed position and does not flex up and down. Unlike the Daicamping DL7 Titanium, when closed/folded the left handle sits higher than the right handle and can be flexed up and down. So I would give the Swiss Tech an A+ for the stiffness of the tool structure to not allow misalignment of the handles when in a closed/folded position.

      That's very interesting! Good observation!

Well, other than the steel, I’m impressed with what they did to up their game… imitating Leatherman or not. At this stage of the game, Leatherman is the one to beat, so they’re all gonna look like them.
That texturing is a pretty nice addition. 👍🏻

This is actually a new 18-in-1 Swiss Tech multitool model (yes it is literally called "18-in-1 NEW"in listings on Ali), the old one doesn't have this checkered pattern on its handles, its a tiny bit more expensive than the regular model as well. I've watched a bunch of reviews of the old model and everyone agrees it's one of the best Wave clones out there.

I think you maybe missed one of the biggest differentiators and benefits of these SwissTech multitools:
The four Outside tools pivot from the opposite side to the Plier-head. It’s a small change, but extremely important that even the OG Wave gets wrong!
This means that when pliers are opened, the pivot for the main tools is at the bottom of the handles. Therefore there is a much more open gap between the handles when using the pliers, thereby removing the usual pinch-point that exists on OG Wave and nearly every other clone.
Hope that makes sense and is something helpful…

A nice tool for the price, good for a beginner & as a backup for a primary tool...the 1/4 " bit driver is a plus....if there is a possibility of accessories, then it's a real buy...
    Thanks! 😊

I realize this is a wave clone, but I wish they would consider replacing the file or saw with scissors (there’s some excellent Chinese-made scissors now) and replace the plain blade with a sheep’s foot, for utility and strap cutting. But the 1/4” driver is 👍

I agree, definitely the saw blade though, I've never used one in any real application where I use a file Avery once in a while

I mentor on a robotics team. The file is used so often to de burr a metal edge after cutting to size. Also the saw and file r useful getting a piece sized after a 3d printing. I don’t go anywhere without my Klein electrician scissors anyway.

    • @FreedomFox1
      @FreedomFox1 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@chevy4x466 Of course, on the rare occasions that I’m doing metal work I carry a file. What’s your experience with the files on Chinese multitools? I’ve heard they’re not very good, but perhaps they’ve improved.

They need to make a multitool with a hammer bottom like the leatherman signal with a 1/4 socket for bits, knife and pliers which are the number one used tools. i don't know why they always add can and bottle openers. I'm always having to carry two kinds of multitool as a EDC.

The main blade is claimed to be made of 8cr13mov stainless steel. So far this is by far the highest grade stainless steel used by any China made Wave/Charge clone.

I like the Swiss 30 in 1 better I think. Mine came in last week, and I am enjoying it so far. Great job for recommending it. I wouldn't call it a premium tool, but the issues seem minor so far. It feels like a diamond in the rough to me and definitely worth the 36 bucks I paid for it.

I do have problems finding the double ended bits with ball detent here in the philliphines but i find a simple solution to solve that problem, what i did is, i bought a 1/4 hex to square adaptor with ball detent that allowed me to used 1/4 socket bit and 1/4 square to hex adaptor to be used with any 1/4 inch screwdriver bits including 1 inch bit.

So after carrying my Flissa wave clone for a while I have noticed one issue with the scissors... When the pliers are in their closed position, the blade of the scissors presses against the pivot of the inner tool lock and this makes a flat spot on one side of the blade of the scissors. I'm curious if this is an issue with all wave clones or just specific to mine. This may be the reason why a lot of them have the thinner looking scissors

Ack! I bought the older version of the Swiss-tool 18 in 1 and made a bunch of mods, including replacing the plier head with a Rebar head, replacing the diamond file with a Rebar file and replacing the serrated blade with a pair of dolphin scissors. And after all that, they went ahead and upgraded the tool to this one 🤦‍♂️ feeling conflicted here!

You should have mention the blade steel, its like the most important spec of the whole thing. If the blade is made from 3CR its actual butter.

I might be the only person to mod his wave plus and cant give up the can opener to put a full 1/4" bit driver in it... i use the can opner daily cause i can never find where my wife puts ours

If that's the case, you'd be better off carrying an additional SAK Alox with can opener. They're so much easier to use and there's a speed method where you just turn the can against the stationary can opener blade.
