Would totally love seeing the iGPU performance in the U series chips, actually would like to see more coverage of the U series chips in general and how the 5700U and 5500U are still Zen 2. I think more consumers need to know this difference as these chips sell the most/easiest to find in all of AMDs lineup.

This is exactly what's holding me back, I'm buying for a kid and sense I'm not tech savvy about this stuff I don't want to buy something that's gonna make them upset and stress us out because it don't lay his steam or whatever they play. But I can't be spending crazy amounts either. I keep seeing great price on Lenovo and Ryzen 5500u or such but I can't get a clear enough answer if it will play games good or if I should still just set on a dedicated Nvidia graphics

Perfect benchmarking again. Especially great, that you tested at 720p, as that is where performance sweet spot is for these APUs (that is- native monitor resolution, but with resolution scaled to effective ~720p). This benchmarking gives a glimpse of what to expect from desktop, G-series APU models, like the leaked 5700G or 5800G.

Ram speed and memory ranks make a difference with these APUs, my 4750GE saw as much as a 30% improvement going from 3000 CL20 single rank, to 3200C L19 single rank. Would love to see how much quad rank improves it, as so far my 4650G seems noticeably better going from 2 sticks to 4 sticks of ECC (same speed of 2933)

Lately I have been playing older games and low demanding games on my bed on a laptop tray, but the intel graphics sometimes aren't enough and I have to use the dedicated 2060 to run some games
not really fond of it being "stressed" on the bed even if it is on a flat wooden surface
So I would definitely use the VEGA APUs on a RYZEN machine from time to time if I had one

I would really appreciate some help and advice here.
I'm having an extremely hard time deciding on a laptop to buy. My budget is $1500 - $2000 though I'm willing to stretch it a little more if I see more value.
I don't play any games whatsoever. I use photoshop a lot and recently I have been interested and learning to do some video editing and audio production with Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Audition. Everything works fine on my current laptop except for Premiere Pro which won't even run. It would also be nice if Photoshop and my audio production software would run faster.
I currently have an Ultrabook 2-in-1 with touch screen (Dell Inspiron 13 7378, 2018 version) and it's very outdated for me and just doesn't meet my needs any more with it's integrated Intel UHD 620 GPU. You have to understand I didn't even pick this laptop to buy it was simply a $400 bargain 2 years ago in a brand new condition and I just ended up liking it until I started looking into video editing. I don't want to invest in a desktop setup now since I move a lot, a laptop is a must for me.
Last year I was very excited about Huawei Matebook Pro X (2020 version) and I'm so glad I didn't buy it! But then I got excited about the new Dell XPS 15 model with touch screen and GTX 1650 Ti until Nvidia announced their RTX 3000 series so I decided to wait for the new laptop models with the new GPUs.
The dilemma I have right now is this:
1- My laptop is not good enough for my needs by any means, I have been waiting for quite sometime now but I need to buy a better performing laptop sooner than later.
2- I use the touch screen on my laptop quite a lot, the tablet mode and being able to flip the screen 360 degrees isn't very important, but I got very used to a touch screen that I'm just having a hard time accept a laptop without on.
3- I considered XPS 17 9700 with RTX 2060 and I love that device, except I don't feel comfortable spending over $3k which is a lot over my budget and I still won't be getting the RTX 300 series.
4- It's really hard to find a laptop that fits these needs. I have recently been interested in the Zephyrus G15 GA503. Yet grew disappointed because of the soldered ram slot (I understand I'll need to upgrade the ram to get a better video editing experience) and the lack of even a bad webcam to be used while in transit in an airport for example. The lack of touch screen isn't a big issue though.
5- I have considered Asus flex 13x but I don't like the proprietary eGPU
I understand I'm comparing apples to oranges when I put tiny sleek Ultrabooks side to side with Performance gaming laptops. I'm just lost between the two. I don't care about FPS since I'm not a gamer. but I need a good display in a sleek portable laptop. What are my options and what're you suggestions?
Should I get something of what's available now? (and what would that be?) or should I wait a bit more for new things that might come out soon? (Will Dell even make a new XPS with RTX 300 series this year?)
Thank you for reading and for any replies in advance!

Integrated vega gpu perf is the same as it has always been. zen+ to zen2 to zen3 = pretty much the same perf. had an 3200g and it performed pretty much the same as any other vega igpu, including my 4900hx which is an vega 8 ie the same as 3200g but because of 7nm lithography is capable of reaching higher frequencies. my 4900hx perform spot on as the 5800h and it is only 14" :P
I test my igpus at 1080p and the perf is not that bad, 35-75fps and no stuttering even though the fps can fluctuate from scene to scene. running at 720p simply exaggerates the differences when in reality the perf delta is like 2-5fps at most.

    Which one is better
Laptops come in higer resolution like 4k 120hz or 1440p 165hz
And if you need to play a ganes with higer fps
and you go down to 1080p resolution
Or laptops come with standard 1080p resolution that has 144hz
    Which one is better ???

Hi Jarrod. I'm currently thinking about buying a gaming pc or a gaming laptop, but I don't know which one I should pick. I don't want to spend too much on it, but I want it to be reliable and to be able to run most games smoothly. I'm seriously considering the option of buying the Lenovo Legion 5, as you've already done many videos on it, and you've shown it's an amazing laptop that isn't that expensive. However, I'll also use it for other things, such as school work and video calls, so I'm a bit worried about the Camera's quality. I really want to know what's your suggestion.

@@random_5130 Thanks, man. Anyway, I have been saving money since last year to buy the PS5, and I currently have about 810 euros. However, my father recently said he'll buy the PS5 himself, which means that I can use my money on something else. Granted, I'll still have to buy the PS5 games myself, but as the PS5 stocks are really low rn, it will take a long time before I get one. Despite the money I have saved, I can pay more than that, so my budget would be a little over 1000. It doesn't need to be a laptop, so if you think a pc is better I'm fine with it.

@@henriquequintas7262 I would recommend the Asus TUF RTX 3060 model or the Gigabyte G5.
I would go with the G5 because it has a 240hz ips panel and I bet that the G5 will have a higher rtx 3060 wattage than the Asus.

Comparison of the igpu from other of Jarrod's videos:
Shadow of the tomb raider (720p highest settings):
    4800H-28fps avg. (7gpu cores)
    5800H-33fps avg. (8gpu cores)
    i7 10875H-9fps avg. (something ancient)
i7 1165G7-62fps avg. (intel Xe graphics)
i know its hard to compare fps from different videos, etc, but it looks like the Xe graphics are quite good.... Too bad the price will be generally higher, and almost always paired with a discrete Gpu.
When will they learn to make a decent entry level cpu with decent graphics like the Xe but for budget laptops?

I wish they gave integrated GPUs the dedicated treatment. 10%-15% improvement is already bad enough, but when all it can do still is 720p might as well just used a low TDP external GPU. It's going to be 2030 by the time we see 1080p 40fps on games released today.
