    Thanks for pointing out that 2023 machines are still worthy picks. With very little changing year over year especially considering that GPUs aren't being refreshed, it's worth saving money and picking last year's machine, and using the savings to get extra RAM if needed or software and accessories, or just pocket it. I'm a more Thinkpad than gaming laptop kind of person though. Good vid and looking forward to the end of year round up. 👍

    Thanks for the roundup Jarrod. The Legion 7i looks near identical to the ProArt Studiobook Pro 16 (reviewed last year) but it still has the side intake vents - where the 7i has none.
    According to that review you did back then, the ProArt Studiobook managed to squeeze out 2,198 & 28,778 scors on Cinebench R23 (and this with limiting factors i.e. lower power. The Legion 7i only managed 2,137 & 24,920.
    Does this mean the ProArt Studiobook is an overall better gaming laptop ? It's processor is slightly less power hungry than the Legion 7i so perhaps this then leaves some extra room/power for the GPU to eek out additional fps. Just thinking out loud. 🤔

    2023 laptops are still great choice due to their lower price and usually the same performance in games due to gpu and cpus are not that bad compared to newer ones. I'm using my asus tuf a16 advantage edition for 2 months and that's gorgeous laptops for its price: for just 50k₴ (1250$) you get a ryzen 7 7435hs (the same as 7735hs but without igpu), 16 gb ram, 1tb m2, radeon rx 7600s (something between 4050 and 4060 but since it has 8gb of vram more to 4060), and for the cherry on top of this cake - divine 2.5k 240 hz 500 nit 3 ms 100% p3 screen that makes interacting with laptop really amazing, for this price it can run all games on high or sometimes ultra settings with 60+ fps (in 2560x1600 of course), in performance mode you get about 10% less fps than turbo but temps are lower and fans are much quieter, the keyboard feels great and touchpad is really amazing for a gaming laptop, only one bad side is due to lack of igpu lifetime on battery is poor (about 3 maybe 4 hours of youtube videos in 60 hz) despite big 90 wh battery, but for me its not a big disadvantage because they give you 2 power bircks in the box: first is the classic big 240w, and the 2nd one is small 100w type-c charger which is easy to take. In general I want to say is 2023 laptops are still nice, really new one devices will be in 2025 after new gpu releases, also big thanks to Jarrod for his great reviews and helping me with the choosing through tons of laptops! Thanks to him I saw that amd advantage is actually cool thing and I got much better other specs than amd + nvidia or intel + nvidia for the same price! I hope you'll make more reviews on amd advantage laptops because they're actually pretty interesting!

    Hey Jarrod,
    I'm trying to decide between the Legion 7i and Legion 5 Pro, both with the i9-14900HX and RTX 4070. The prices are similar, so it's all about performance.
    I checked the Legion 5i Pro and found that it can sustain an average CPU power of 140W (10 mins stress test) in Cinebench r23, while the Legion 7i can sustain around 104W. The L7i scores 27k, and the L5P can score 29k. This is just a 2k score difference but a 40w difference.
    How does this translate to real-world performance? Your help is much appreciated.
    My primary use is demanding workloads, so slimness isn't a priority.

    • @JarrodsTech
      @JarrodsTech  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The 5 will probably perform better, if my recent non pro review is anything to go by. The non pro 5 is thicker and can boost CPU power limit higher, so more performance, I really like the portability of the 7 but that's me and performance is still great. That difference would be quite small in real world tasks I'd imagine.
