    I used the ME80 for years every weekend to Gig. I just upgraded to the ME90 2 weeks ago and love it even more! Ive had many local Guitarists comment on my Tone and ask for my settings/patches. I play 80's Metal and Blues. Does everything i need it to pretty damn good

    I had the ME-80. It was great used as effects only not using the amps. The amps have since been improved, I don’t think it’s terrible. Certainly great for a beginner rig.

    You have to take the time to dial these into whatever you’re going to use it with. This is an incredible tool, and for the money it’s ridiculous and shows how the technology has improved. I’ve now got rid of my Atomic Amplifire 12 as the quality of this is much better - driving this into an Atomic valve drives FR amp - the sounds are superb and it’s so easy to adjust, no stupid menu-diving when all you want to do is play……Not sure you can do it justice with a quick run through Mikey-Boy😉

    It’s a “Swiss army knife” guitar tool. It does a bunch of stuff moderately well. It’s not supposed to be the be all end all of amazing guitar tones. Just like you wouldn’t use said Swiss Army knife to cut and eat a $150 Wygu steak at a fancy restaurant....you wouldn’t use this to record a huge album in a million dollar studio........but you COULD. As a practice unit...grab and go board for impromptu jam sessions...or a backup rig for when Murphy pays a visit at a gig........it’s a no-brainer. 🤘🤘

    Tube snobs are already on here trashing this unit. But I think this unit is great for practicing with at home.
    It's $300, and it does pretty much everything. It's not $4,000 and it doesn't have little glowing glass bottles inside it.
    So the tube snobs will always hate it. 😆

    I have the ME-80 and was super excited when the ME-90 was announced. I immediately got a pre-order in with Sweetwater for the 90 and BT adapter. When it came in, I messed with it for a couple of hours and was VERY disappointed! I A-B switched between it and the 80 and the 80 sounds so much warmer and more natural. Many of the tones from the 90 sound like computer replications, some were “over compensating” and some were thin. I twisted knobs and check for firmware updates and ultimately sent it back for a full refund. I was super disappointed. I played my ME-80 last night and I love it.
    One guys opinion.

    To be fair, I think a better way to highlight this fx unit would be to dial in some tones and present it with a killer intro song like your other high-end product demos.
    You have a great ear for awesome tones, I'm sure you could write an awesome little intro tune that would give this thing justice! (It's not what you use, it's what you play 😉)

    Clean sounds at the beginning very thin, but after some tweaking it sounded pretty good, I think you could make it work for any genre… it’s not the wasp nests type sounds from zoom from the past… pretty tasteful starting point from Boss. A song would have been nice. I think it still would have sound great… I just rediscovered my HX stomp (bought it only to be used as an IR loaded for my reactive load)… I think it’s pretty awesome what these small boxes can do nowadays…

  • @TheMasonator777
    @TheMasonator777 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I really enjoy mine. You really have to use the post EQ to get the best out of the amp models. I wish it had a two knob high pass and low pass filter on the back. I’ve not checked out the ‘amp in’ output settings.
    That’s the only small downside. I think I’m gonna look for something outboard to velcro to my FRFR.
    The output settings are non-intuitive and can drastically alter the end sound. The basic manual is useless on that. You should check into that.
    Please make more content on this.

    the effects are pretty good, specially the delays and reverbs. The amp models have that cocked wah sound that is typical of the Boss modelers. But for $300 it could be worth for the effects alone, although I can think of better options for not much more...

    • @Sperzel
      @Sperzel 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Totally agree. It’s the same problem with their more expensive units. All the amps have this weird character to them that you can’t un-hear. Boss should partner up with someone like Michael to sort this out for the next generation.

    Good morning. I ask for help regarding the ME 90. Trying the delays: MODULATE, WARM, TAPE, ANALOG, STANDARD and also the one in the EQ/FX2 part, they are practically all the same and not even a stereo one. Is this the case or did they give me a defective pedal board? I've been using Boss pedals for a long time but never with this limit. Thank you and greetings. G.

    • @BigHairyGuitars
      @BigHairyGuitars  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It really depends on how you run it. if it's mono into an amp, they'll sound pretty similar. A stereo setup into studio monitors should have a mildly noticeable different in the amount of highs and lows you hear in the delay

    Back in the days (ie 1996?) all the press was raving about the Boss GT5. I had to have it. Big mistake. All these multi FX were pure crap. Now I would rather save for quality sounding gear. Tube amp and handful of pedals for the win.

    • @Hamer95USA
      @Hamer95USA 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't agree with you about your comment about the Boss GT5. I used to own the Boss GT3 effects processor. The Boss GT5 & GT3 was the last Boss multi-effects processors to have analog distortion/overdrive. The sound of the effects on the GT5 & GT3 sounded warmer & more organic due to the processor chip installed. I also ran a Fryette (formerly VHT) Valvulatator tube buffer/power supply in front of the GT3 to buffer the effects processor and get rid of the grainy digital tone. I currently use a Fryette Valvulator I tube buffer/power supply & Boss MS3 with some analog overdrive pedals running 4 cable method into a clean pedal platform amp and am getting great tone out of it.

    I think it sounds great but the two digit LED display is unacceptable. In 2023/2024, when you can get high resolution, color LCD displays on an mp3 player/phone you can buy at Dollar General for $15 or less, sticking these two digit LED displays you would expect to see on a piece of gear from 1978, NOW on a $300 unit, is a joke. BOSS/Roland always tries to see how much they can get away with, shafting buyers with the hardware/BOSS name premium ratio.
