      And you gonna hate it unless you wanna tweak sounds instead of playing music. More is worse. I have years of experience. The more shit they put inside your pedal board unit the more fancy touch screen menus the less music you are going to play. Menus are shit, and it dont matter how smart they make them. Menus suck. Imagin going to have to go through menus during live gig to turn one fucking virtual knob when on ME-80 you just have those knobs and no bullshit screen. ME-90 + Tone-X and you have the best pedal board in the world. Need balanced out, then get two behringer ULTRA-DI or ULTRA-G at a low price and thats the unit of every serious guitarist. Simplicity instead of useless BS.

    I have an ME-80 and it's a GREAT unit. I use a Fractal FM9 now and the ME-80 for backup. If something were to happen to my FM9 live (God forbid that happen live) I always have my ME-80 rig waiting for backup... and would be perfectly happy using it if necessary.

    If we are to be very honest about "No Menu Diving" we must acknowledge that there might still be a little bit of dealing with adjusting global and other settings by using 'Menu' codes as far as a 'Menu' is concerned here but, for such a wonderfully thoughtful, versatile and sophisticated unit as this, that is to be expected. I guess with this it's more like just setting up your digital "G-Shock" wrist watch than prepping a jet. It of course also let's you tweak differing parameters via tactile knob controls AT THE SAME TIME with as many hands and even toes as you have available which, in fact, may actually be the SMARTER way of doing things for a reasonably sized effects chain such as this, no? I think so. Way to go Boss!

Not sure about this one but it sure does sound good on your channel and another one that I watch. I think the ME series is more of a throwback to the '80s style multi-effect units. Hey Brother.. Watching this again.. I'm still interested in the FM3, but I'm also looking at this because I have a 50 watt amp and this would be great in the effects loop.. It would still have all the preamps that the amp has, so I'm not missing anything, but it also has the effects and the cabs, etc.. I'd of course use your cab.. I like the idea of boss stuff.. I used to have a friend that I jammed with who had a ME50 and I remember the first time I heard it I thought the distortion he was using was killer! It sounded great.. We used to play like 40 minute jams of Black Sabbath War Pigs and stuff like that and trade lead licks back and forth.. It was so much fun! This thing is so easy to use and I don't go down the rabbit hole because I'm a nerd so bad from working in the IT world.. Just plug and play and twist some knobs and sound good..
    I love all your video's and especially demo's because I can always go back to them and check out your settings, etc..
    Very cool man..
    Thanks brother!
    Be well and safe sir..

    To me the BEST layout, interface I have ever used was on the ZOOM G3 and G5 series...Sadly they kind of changed it for the ZOOM G3xn and G5xn series, and not for the better....I know a lot of people really liked the Boss Me--80 and Interface and layout were among the top compliments.
    The common refrain was, "modernise the sounds but keep the layout and interface basically the same."......I honestly think a slightly more sophisticated screen would not have killed them, but it is nice to see a Company like BOSS actually listen to their customer's and give them what they want.
    They did the same with the Katana.....Maybe other companies should pay attention?

    my opinion is a cropped version of the gt-1000, but the effects with effects control are brought to the panel for the convenience of working on stage, the sound is the same, but the possibilities are slightly less than in the gt-1000

      The stompbox style layout and the ability to adjust on the fly without navigating menus and sub menus. Simplicity. The ME is one of the highest selling multi effects of all time.

  • @simonmaton
    @simonmaton ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Although it has really great sounds, I think that what lets this, and so many other pedals and amps down are the analog pots and selector switches! How these things work is that you setup a cool sound with various effects etc. and press a button to save that sound as a patch to memory. That is all good and well but when you recall that sound to use, and want to maybe change something, like adjust the treble slightly, the analog pots are probably now in a completely different position, so you have to sweep the pot back or forward to find where is was originally placed when you saved the patch. This immediately screws up the sound and, as humans, we can never get back to where we had it in the first place! This is incredibly infuriating, enough to put anyone off (it sends me into a wild rage actually!! :-)). If they just replaced the bloody analog pots with digital encoders (which, by the way are slightly more expensive than pots but the electronics to read them are a tenth of the price) then when you wanted to adjust anything, you just turned the pot up or down as required because the pot is always operating as if it were where you left it when you saved the path originally! I have a little YamahaTDR30 amp that is a brilliant bit of kit, with built-in integration with the Line-6 wireless system and a fantastic Bluetooth footswitch! Everything I could ask for... EXCEPT for this same FU*&ing issue! BTW, Fractal use encoders, not analog pots!

    • @LeonTodd
      @LeonTodd  ปีที่แล้ว

      Encoders with LED readouts would be absolutely perfect on this!

    • @mattiascarlsson3912
      @mattiascarlsson3912 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree. Another simple way to come at least a bit closer would be to do what Neunaber has done on their Neuron pedal, which is to add a little LED light next to each knob and have it switch colors when you have reached the "current" position of the level in your patch. This way you can at least know where your starting point is. Much better than nothing.
