In this video, Dr. Berg talks about this amazing vitamin K2. Vitamin K1 is recycled and has everything to do with coagulating and binding protein that helps to form clots or stop bleeding and is also involved with bone formation while vitamin K2 is not recycled and basically binds calcium in the bone, helps transport calcium out of the soft tissues and is also involved with the metabolism.
There are several types of vitamin K2; MK2 - 14 but the ones you get in supplements are MK4 and MK7.
    Best Sources of Vitamin K2
    • Greens / Leafy Vegetables
    • Grass-Fed
    • Egg Yolk
    • Butter
    • Cheese
    • Liver
    • Fermented Foods
Who Would Benefit from Vitamin K2?
    • People who have a history of taking Antacids
    • Antibiotics
    • Statins
    • GI Problems
    • Take D3 and Calcium
    • Menopause
    • Heart Problems

One thing I hate is when my parents interfere with purchasing healthy foods. There are forcing me to go a low fat diet. They are forcing me to avoid fatty meats and cheeses thus I'm scared they are blocking me being able to get k2. And they don't like me have eric berg supplements. That being said once I start making my own money hopefully they will stop interfering.

As usual awesome video Dr. Berg. I'm a boxer, I do omad carnivore keto and i have 5-6% body fat and I am very lean. I want to ask personally from myself and from other professional athletes. I know that these videos are watched by people who want to lose weight or improve their health and this is great. I understand that this is the main audience of subscribers of the channel. But you are also watched by professional athletes who use keto, carnivore, intermittent fasting - runners, boxers, wrestlers, gymnasts, etc. , which have slightly different goals besides losing weight, for example - increase vo2 max, general performance during intensive workouts and so on. Please do more videos for as (for performance) too , thank you, you are the best. Sorry if this sounds a bit annoying.

But occasionally in my window I'll grab a slice of cheese or two, walnuts, Barker's chocolate, pecans, maybe a can a sardines or mackerel. But usually I'm fine w green tea or black coffee between meals.
I have had a few cheat days. Usually that means like a vodka soda and some wings with blue cheese or ranch. Went completely cheat one day in 4 weeks and ate tacos in Mexico.
I would say I do one cheat day a week but no new carbs just the vodka soda and I am eating anything maybe 1 day a month if the mood hits me or your in Mexico and want a Taco. Then I'll fast for 24 hours and hit the gym and go right back into keto.

I don't really blame individual doctors for not knowing all this stuff, they seem to be pretty much in the same boat that we are, lucky to find some info if they hunt for it. Seems that the MD education system fails them and us more than anything, maybe doctors more so because many think they know, when they don't, and then many won't accept that they are way off because they are the "expert". At least you know now and can start correcting things. Peace and good luck to you. :)

I'm just starting to discover that although I thought I was eating very healthy, the reality is I was possibly chronically deficient in vit E, potassium, magnesium, vit D, and vit K2 (and possibly more).
No wonder I have had such a hard time getting pregnant! I've been married about 4 years and when I did get pregnant, I had a miscarriage.
I wonder if once I focus on getting all the vitamins and nutrients that I will be able to get pregnant and not have a miscarriage.
    God is good.
    Thank you Dr Berg!
    I'm thankful for you!

K2 MK7 has very long half life in blood (around 2 days), it doesn't seem to go into soft tissues efficiently. When you take it every day, it does build up in blood. In some people like me, this causes increased blood pressure. I had to quit MK7 and my blood pressure went down. It also didn't help with the plaque on my teeth at all after 2 months of usage. I started using the MK4 variant in high dose. I also show some reaction to this, but it is very quickly absorbed into soft tissues and therefore the half life in blood is quite short (1-2 hours). When I take 2 miligrams per day in one go (I use the Thorne K2 high dose liquid 1 mg/drop), I tolerate it very well. In just a few days, the plaque on my teeth was dramatically decreased. In two weeks, the plaque was completely gone. I believe the MK4 variant is the effective one, not MK7.

Dr. Berg, after being on the Atkins diet for a while back in 2007 I grew myself a big fat kidney stone. The biggest problem with Atkins is substituting meat protein for fat, and that seems to be the problem with the current recommendations of going low carb.
I'd love to have a video on K2 and #kidneystones. Low K2 has been in the dental discussions because it seems to be correlated with higher dental calculus deposits, which started as a problem for me in the last 6 months. I am currently waiting for the removal of my second stone, it's 9mm so the likelihood of passing is very slim. Is there a correlation between K2, kidney stones, dental calculus, and a high protein diet?

  • @nj3509
    @nj3509 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Hello Dr Berg. I wish you had also mentioned about the two life-saving proteins that K2 activates. But please me add to this video. K2 activates #1) 'Matrix GLA' (MGP in short) and #2) 'Osteocalcin'. #1 Protein MGP removes Calcium deposits from blood, arteries and other soft tissue areas and hands over the Calcium to #2) Osteocalcin, which then binds that Calcium to bones and teeth. Without the required amount of K2, both of these Proteins remain unactivated and allows the Calcium go rouge in the body with its damaging effects.

I have Arthritis, High Cholesterol IBS, High BP, [probably all Auto-immune related ] on all the medications for conditions...my doctor told me to stop taking Calcium /Vit D3 supplement as the calcium could build up in my arteries...so I did... I'm on Low Dairy [lactose intolerant ]and 8/16 fasting and finding it difficult to eat enough to ensure a full range of nutrition ...my nails started flaking so figured it was the lack of Calcium ...then after Dr Berg's Video on Auto immune I discovered K2 ...... so the doctors know and advise about too much Calcium so ....WHY do they not know about K2 to help direct the Calcium where it's supposed to go!!! Sunshine vitamin or steroid hormone was the most powerful medicine on every living things on earth given by our CREATOR. SUN EXPOSURE
The best way to get vitamin D3 is through sun exposure. Go outside and get some sun, especially in the mid-day when it’s the strongest.
However, many of us use sun block, which is good for our skin but not so helpful when it comes to the production of vitamin D3. By blocking out the UVA and UVB rays, sun block can interfere the skin’s ability to synthesize vitamin D3. GOD BLESS.

You can buy a Vit D3 and K2 spray for under the tongue which has them in the best proportions, and is absorbed better than tablets

@@BRIANDER100 you can, but since pretty much everyone is deficient of D3, why not take them together in a bioavailable form?

So, basically K2 works with D3 to help not overcalcify your arteries. It also helps in the heart for not calcifying. And, it could be a possible benefit for arthritis which this is the first place I've ever heard anybody say that I don't know anyone that's taking K2 specifically for arthritis I'd like more information.
