- Daily oral dosing of vitamin D3 using 5000 TO 50,000 international units a day in long-term hospitalized patients:
Insights from a seven year experience
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30611...
Dayton and Cincinnati, Ohio
Vitamin D3 is a hormone produced in the skin,
in amounts estimated up to 25,000 international units (IUs) a day,
by the action of UVB radiation
Vitamin D deficiency is common,
lack of adequate sun exposure to the skin,
vitamin D is present in very few food sources.
Deficiency is strongly linked to increased risk for a multitude of diseases,
several of which have historically been shown to improve dramatically with either adequate UVB exposure to the skin,
or to oral supplementation with vitamin D.
These diseases include
Asthma, psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, rickets and tuberculosis.
All patients in our hospital have been routinely screened on admission for vitamin D deficiency since July 2011
Offered supplementation to either correct or prevent deficiency
We have admitted over 4,700 patients
(vast majority agreed to supplementation)
5000 or 10,000 IUs/day.
125 micrograms or 250 micrograms
Due to disease concerns,
A few agreed to 20,000 to 50,000 IUs/day.
500 micrograms to 1, 250 micrograms (1.25mg)
There have been no cases of vitamin D3 induced hypercalcemia,
or any adverse events attributable to vitamin D3
Three patients with psoriasis
Marked clinical improvement using 20,000 to 50,000 IUs/day
Analysis of 418 inpatients on D3
Long enough to develop 25OHD3 blood levels less than 74.4 ng/ml,
showed a mean 25OHD3 level of 118.9 ng/ml
(range from 74.4 to 384.8 ng/ml)
Average serum calcium level in the vit D group of 418
9.6 mg/dl
Range of 8.6 to 10.7
(Normal 8.5 to 10.5)
Average serum calcium level in the non vit D group of 777
Mean 25OHD3 level of 27.1 ng/ml
9.5 mg/dl
Range of 8.4 to 10.7
Parathyroid hormone levels
A hormone released in response to low calcium levels
D3 users, 24.2 pg/ml
Non D3 users, 30.2 pg/ml
In summary
Long-term supplementation with vitamin D3 in doses ranging from 5000 to 50,000 IUs/day appears to be safe.
Conclusion
Daily oral intake of vitamin D3 ranging from 5000 IU/d to 60,000 IU/d for several years was well tolerated and safe,
in both our patients and staff.
The mean 25OHD blood levels in our patients appear to take around 12 months to plateau on 5000 IU/d and 10,000 IU/d.
The average 25OHD values
Patients taking 10,000 IU/d at 12 months = 96 ng/ml
Then retested at 16 months = 97 ng/ml
Currently considered upper limit of normal, 100 ng/ml

Finally, we see a vitamin D study where enough vitamin D3 was given to make a healthy difference and show no adverse effects. I am 76 years old and I have been doing a D3 study on myself for the past 10 years. I am a white male. I am 6' 2" tall and when I started this study in 2013, I weighed approximately 257 lbs and my vitamin D level was 14 ng/ml. I took 50,000 iu of D3 daily for 3 weeks to raise my D level and then cut back to 20,000 or 30,000 iu a day. I felt much better almost immediately. After a few months my D level tested in the 70s. I continued to take the 20K to 30k iu daily thereafter and I felt fantastic. A few years later, I learned the importance of taking vitamin K2 and magnesium with the D3 and I continued with that daily. Here are some of the health issues I had for decades before starting this study: chronic back pain, chronic depression, chronic fatigue, brain fog, very frequent infections of the ear, nose, throat, and lungs, joint pain with arthritis, fever blisters, numbness in the soles of my feet, ringing in my ears, and etc. And, I was diagnosed with non-hodgkin's lymphoma in 2009. I was given 3 rounds of chemo between 2009 and 2013. My hematologist at the time never mentioned my low vitamin D status during this time even though it was on all of my lab reports. In fact, he repeatedly told me that there was nothing that I could do on my own to fight the lymphoma. He gave me about five years to live. Thank God I did not believe him and started researching lymphoma on my own. So, after 10 years of this self study and keeping my vitamin D level in the 110 to 150+ ng/ml range, here are the results: ALL of my previous health issues have disappeared and I feel healthier and stronger than I did when I was 50 years old. In the past 10 years, I have had only two mild colds and one very mild case of Covid. I see a different hematologist now, but there have been no signs or symptoms of lymphoma in the past 3 years.
Happy for you…Peace and Blessings
Incredible! Thank you for sharing

The FDA would rather have people who suffer from depression, taking devastating addictive drugs rather than taking high dosages of Dv.
Jim Gill……. thank heavens you did not give in to your doctors comments of a near death. You’re doing so well.
Covid put the world in a collective psychiatric institution. This study is spot on. Thank you for everything, more than words can say.
A mass formation psychosis. It was surreal
Yes, but it also opened many people's eyes to MANY things, like never before.

My girl lost 2 babies in miscarriages because of a deficiency in vitamin D3. They gave her shots of 50,000 every few days to get her back up to normal before her and her husband tried again. She went on to have 2 wonderful normal pregnancies.
Oh I'm sorry for that😢. I hope she's doing better now. But if you don't mind my curiosity, how low was her vitamin d levels?
Wow 😮
Without reading comments below I will tell you why medical experts are not recommending higher vitamin D dosages. Vitamin D is cheap. No money to be made. Sick people's costs are high. Much money to be made. There is the answer. Sad, but true.
Love this man! My son had to fight with the docs to order his son a vitamin D test. He's 17 and was suffering from depression and is a person of color The doc said oh, he doesn't need it, he's young and strong. Well, on getting the test his was a low "17" - wow! Then the doc prescribed a vitamin D and brushed it off as nothing serious since his other bloodwork was normal - huh???? Parents, especially people of color - get your children tested too!
The darker the skin the more D3 is needed. If light skin people are good on 5000 iu daily dark skin need at least 10,000 iu daily
Is it the Mediterranean diet that is so good or just more sunshine?

You only can tell when you have your blood level checked. Some people need more, some need less. 10.000 could be easily too much, unless your blood level is below optimum. I wouldn't risk go blindly on this.
But since this son now has a precedent of a very low level he should be elligable for regular testing.
I would advice him to get a different doctor too.
Don't forget to take vitamin K2 and magnesium as well. They regulate the correct calcium processing.
Zink 30mg should be advisable too.
Protect this man, he's a national treasure. DR. JOHN needs to be the head of the WHO!!! Imagine if we could make that a thing.
He already is as I see it

@@girisreenivasan1730 I disagree, he can have multiple assistants for that. He would be the head of the WHO after all, HE would make the rules. We simply demand he stays on a channel like this. I cannot thank you enough for the advise on taking Vitamin D and K2 two years ago. I take 5000 iu and 200 K2 MK7 every day. I am 67. My bones feel strong and I have a good energy level and my mental health is fairly good after the traumatic loss of my husband after 38 years. You are truly a good man with a huge heart for sharing all your knowledge with us. Awards are due, but are just things. Our gratitude is huge and like all those who have posted their thanks we grateful beyond measure for your guidance.
You don't need to double the K2, even if you double the doses of Vitamin D3 intake.
In fact, doubling the K2, can cause very serious problems. Nothing bad happened to you for taking 200mcg K2 up till now, is your luck. But K2 intake should be kept maxium100mcg and not more, even if your D intake is 2000, 5000, or even 10,000!
Too long topic to explain the reason, but make some research, you can find TH-cam videos on the proper dosage of Vitamin D and K2 intake, with detailed calculation. Yes, there is a relation between D3 and K2, and when you increase or double the D3, you raise the K2 but when you reach 100mcg with K2, there's where you stop. Remember, K2 never, ever should go above 100 mcg. Please, do the research. I just want to mention one more thing, taking K2 more then 100mcg, could result in heart-attack!!! it's not a joke.
@sakuratanaka7295
Where does the myth come from that you have to take more vitamin K2 when you take more vitamin D?
And where from did you got that inane limit of vitamin K2 you regard so important?
Not from science, I'm sure.
I think you are really ignorant about these things.
Research are currently made with 380 mcg of K2/MK7, because lower doses gave too little effect on calc8fication of the arteries.
There is no known toxicity with vitamin K2.
@@Mursh26read his biography. It explains everything there. He’s also on Wikipedia.
I'm sorry you lost your husband, hope time eases the pain for you.
@@sakuratanaka7295 Please quote the clinical study regarding the K2 toxicity at 100 mcg /day. I am quite sure it does not exist.
I'm white skinned and been living in a tropical country for 18 years. Get a lot of sun + 5.000 IU per day. Since moving here almost all my allergies have disappeared. Can't remember when I last had a real cold or and upset stomach despite eating marked food on a daily basis. Sun and vitamin D definitely play a role for good health.
I agree that my pollen allergy (grass) is most likely gone because of the different flora. However, my dreaded perfume allergy has completely gone. Living in Europe, I used to have food poisoning at least a few times per year. Here, it never happens despite a lot of questionable food.
Sun is #1.
Many, buy not all, perfume allergies are to chemical perfumes and not natural scents. Do they sell local scents from flowers there?
@5amiann I honestly don't know. All I know is that I had allergy when using standard washing powder and deodorants. Here we wash clothes in exactly the same as it's almost impossible to buy anything else - and still no allergic reactions.
Same with me, I moved from UK to Brasil.....I never get ill in 15 yrs and I am 77.
I was diagnosed 15 years ago, stage 3 ovarian cancer. My vitamin D level at that time was 6. I was fortunate to have a naturopath oncologist who immediately put me on 50,000 iu vitamin D until my level went up to 50 range. Then I went to 10,000 vitamin D daily after that. I have faithfully taken at least 5,000 iu of Vitamin D for all these years. I do have a genetic disposition to hold on to calcium so my calcium levels did go above the 11 range. But I'm doing well, I'm active, I'm alive! Thank you, Dr. Campbell for sharing this important information!
Amen❤
I would like to learn more about the calcium issue. I started taking high doses of Vit D (with K2, per Dr. Campbell's recommendation), but still got very high calcium. My primary care blew it off & told me to stop overdosing myself, the nurse told me to stop eating so much dairy. (Which I don't eat ANY except occasional cottage cheese because I don't like dairy.) So now I've gone off the Vit D until I know what on earth to do. I don't think anyone in the US gives a crap about Vit D.
How many pills do you take. I already have far too many for my heart and diabetes 2.
@@jazzNjack I also had high calcium. I don't know if I still have high cal...I stopped seeing doctors after none of them helped and just made things worse. I think the high doses of Vit D for a while is probably beneficial. But I don't know for how long. Everyone is different and has different needs. Just have to go with your intuition sometimes.
You are very fortunate, my wife died of ovarian cancer, its generally hard to spot and treat. Best wishes on future health.

Take with magnesium as you need magnesium to absorb the vitamin d
@@patrickcowan8701do you need to take the magnesium at the same time as d3 or can you take it later on,also how much magnesium do we need?
After suffering from severe fatigue for years (software developer living in an area where the sun doesn't shine often), I started taking Vitamin D (2000 IU per day) about 12 years ago, and after a couple of weeks, the symptoms disappeared. Since then I have upped the dose to 5000 IU a day, and never had any fatigue issues since. Plus, I am rarely sick, look 10 years younger than I am (mid 40s) and feel great overall. I am sure, a good part of that is because of the Vitamin D (plus a litre of good green tea per day).
Do you mind if i ask how much you weigh?
I don't even want to get out of bed. I am on a rwo week work break and 50k for 8 weeks. I hope this helps.
I worked with a physician years ago who was pushing her patients into larger doses of vitamin D, her recommended levels were higher than other providers, we had an extremely healthy patient load! We also did a lot of alternative medicine/treatments, less pharmaceuticals unless needed. Our patients were physicians, nurses, chiropractors, professionals, and many Amish as well as the usual family practice patients. We did more health education than script writing!
As it should be.😊
Dr John, increasing vitamin D3 levels takes time with supplements unless given it in Calciferol form. Also the ability to metabolise vitamin D from the sun decreases with age.
Dr John, you have increased your levels? Doubled I see. Did you have a blood test eventually or what was the reason?
Nice to hear that such a thing is possible... most doctors get condemned and suffer the consequences of NOT practicing actual "traditional " medicine.🙄🤦♂️ /s.
@@omvilla7469 she was a DO, they are more open to alternative medicine than most MD’s I worked with. I was a physician assistant for 25 years.
I’ve been taking 10,000 IU/daily for years. No problems whatsoever and my blood calcium levels are fine. Since the beginning of the pandemic, I’ve had my whole family supplement with Vit D. This video reassures me that my decision to take 10,000 IU/daily is a good one.
Make sure it's Vitamin D3, not D2 which is synthetic and man-made. And make sure you take D3 with K2, or MK7. It directs the D3 to the bone and tissues, and away from the bloodstream. D3 is actually NOT a vitamin, it's a pro-hormone. It is an immune system modulator, not a stimulant or antagonist. It actually acts like a natural cortisone in the body, helping with daily aches and pains, and awesome 👍 for arthritis and other pain related syndromes. Just 15 minutes a day spent in the sun ☀️, in the early day in early afternoon, is a good way to get your daily D3. And of course, especially in the colder months, we need to supplement additionally.....🌞
10,000 units for me as well, under the advisory of my doctor 6 years ago to support my autoimmune diagnosis. I do take a combo with vitamine K2, and I've had no negative reactions.
Me too since 2019 no Covid of any type 👍🙏🏻
For awhile my D3, 25-OHD blood lab level results wasn't increasing even with my daily dose. A wholistic functional MD advised me to take the mineral Boron with it to increase the absorption. Yes, it did help. This proved very helpful 😁 That advice was so appreciated. And you only need like 3 mg.....🌞
My wife and I also take 10,000 IU a day. We have, since the papers started coming out during the pandemic.
There are so many quacks on youtube, but Dr Campbell relies on peer reviewed studies and therefore can be completely trusted. I love your videos. Keep up the good work!

Dr Campbell a few months ago upped his dose of vitamin d to 5,000 and stated his doctor would not give him a blood test. Now he upped it to 8,000 IU. He is slowly learning what people owning health food stores knew over a decade ago
And you need to be given an award for gullibility.
Yes, he absolutely does! Dr. Campbell is doing a world of good and so much appreciated.
He spent a year telling people to get injected, so he and Hancock should get awards??!!
I am a 60 year old white male I take 10,000 UI per day most of the time. I am 100% certain that it has helped my depression and my mood, and helps me to be more positive…. Also I have heard from nutritionist that women that are postpartum can take 20,000 UI a day for as long as three months if I’m not mistaken!
It is very sad that such a cheap product can help so many people and yet we’ve been lied to about the dosage just like all the other vitamins…… people please wake up 😊😊😊😊😊😊
It's also important to realize that insulin resistance can stamp down your vit D levels. That makes it hard to get enough no matter what you take. Fortunately, some fasting can immediately reduce this problem and also has amazing effects for the whole immune system with up to 1/3 of all white blood cells regenerated after a single fast. Some of the many benefits of doing occasional extended fasting: Blood clotting is reduced and blood clots and arterial plaque are reabsorbed into the body. High blood pressure is lowered to normal levels very quickly while fasting. Fibrosis/scarring is reversed over time.
Vitamin D plasma levels are increased as fasting improves metabolic health, and vitamin D in turn increases autophagy.
Stomach acid is reduced over time while fasting and can allow for the healing of treatment resistant ulcers, but some patients may need continued acid reducation medication while fasting.
Telomeres are lengthened and fasting also increases anti-aging Yamanaka factors.
Fasting reduces pain and anxiety by stimulating the endocannabinoid system in a similar way to CBD oil.
Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion of bacteria, plaques and viruses by the immune system. It will also remove any 'foreign material' that is not supposed to be there.
Reflexes and short term memory are increased.
Fasts from 36-96 h actually INCREASE metabolic rate due to norepinephrine release!
After 72 hours or more fasted, your body recycles as much as 1/3 of all immune bodies and creates new ones, rejuvenating your entire immune system.
Fasting can help with MS, Depression, BPD, Autism and seizures.
Thymus is regenerated, which suppresses aging and renews the immune system. The thymus also plays a vital role in fighting cancer.
Weight loss from daily caloric restriction has 1/4 to 1/3 of the weight lost as lean tissue while many studies show fat loss from 36 h fasts without losing any lean tissue! The hunger hormone ghrelin also lowers with extended fasting and rises from dieting.
Blood sugar and insulin are lowered, allowing white blood cells to move more freely throughout the body and do their job. Some viruses activate glycolosis (the release of sugar in the body) and clinically it has been shown that decreasing glucose metabolism in the body weakens the influenza virus.
When you move out of MTOR your body shuts down the building blocks of the cell which are used to produce organelles and proteins. This means the mechanisms needed by viruses to replicate are by and large unavailable when you are in a deeply fasted state.
What breaks a fast? Anything with protein or carbohydrates in it will break a fast, though if the amount is tiny you will go back into ketosis very quickly. Most teas and herbs are OK. Most supplements and meds will either break ketosis directly or contain a filler that will. Many meds are dangerous to take while fasting.
Fasts of 36-96 will not affect short term female fertility or affect menstrual cycle. They also may increase long term fertility, especially in women with PCOS.
The hormone Leptin is an immunomodulator that keeps the body from attacking itself and obesity causes leptin resistance. Fasting very quickly reduces leptin resistance and leptin levels and one day of fasting can cut your leptin levels in half and gets your immune system working properly again!
Does the body preferentially prefer glucose as a fuel? No, except for brief periods of very intense exercise, your body mainly burns fats in the form of free fatty acids. Your brain also prefers to burn ketones at a rate of around 2.5 to 1 when they are available in equal quantity to glucose.
Fasting stimulates the AMPK complex and activates autophagy. Autophagy (literally self eating) will cause cells to recycle foreign matter such as viruses and kill cancerous and senescent cells. AMPK does many helpful things in the body including activating the body's antioxidant defenses.
Deep ketosis virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body. When not in ketosis, the brain can only burn carbohydrate, which produces a great deal of damaging ROS the brain has to deal with.
It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mitichondrial DNA, leading to improved ATP production and oxygen efficiency and thereby making cells better able to fight off infection. Increased mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism and cancer prevention!
When you fast, this stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells, which destroys them. Senescent cells are responsible for many of the effects of aging and are a root cause of the development of cancer.
Fasting also releases BDNF and NGF in the blood which stimulates new nerve and brain cell growth. This can help a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers.
In fact, the biochemical regulator of BDNF production is beta-hydroxybutyrate, which is the same ketone the body produces to nourish the brain while fasting.
Fasting also increases telomere length, negating some of the effects of aging at a cellular level.
A fasting mimicking diet for 3-5 days in a row also provides many of the same benefits as water fasting. FMD usually has 200-800 calories, under 18 g of protein and extremely low carbs.
Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, making it easier in healthy people and allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia.
Children, pregnant or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors or certain forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all. Type 1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis. Those with Addison's disease may also be unable to fast without liberal use of exogenous ketones, depending on severity. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness then simply break the fast and seek advice.

In 2012 i had an adverse reaction to the pneumovax. I was bedridden for 8 months with Guilain Barre. I got vitamin d deficient. So sick. And b12 deficient. I couldn't walk nor see properly. I lost my job. Drs thought i had ms. A scan proved not. So i took matters into my own hands and imoorted high dose vitamin d powder. I took that for 6 months and reversed my illness.
My brother has just passed away from bile duct cancer. I read his hospital discharge notes, which said he was vitamin d deficient. I believe the deficiency didn't help the fight against the cancer. And cannot, to this day, understand why he was never supplemented with vitamin d. Instead, they kept him in a dark ward for weeks. The drs probably thought why bother if hes terminal. Felt that way.
When my daughter was diagnosed with MS 3 years ago, the first thing the hospital did was give her copious amounts of vitamin D. I've been taking 10,000ui since I found Dr John near the beginning of the pandemic and I have noticed big differences in my depression, pain levels and SAD. Thank you Dr John xx
How is your daughter's MS symptoms? Long story, but 9 years after I was diagnosed with MS in '04, I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in '13 and ended up with a stoma bag as a result and it was at this time that doctors noted I had low vitamin D and was prescribed 800iu D3 a day. I also take my own 6000iu of D3 a day as well as what's prescribed as my research showed 800 was too low and now what little MS symptoms I had for the 9 years before the ulcerative colitis has almost disappeared. I honestly believe if the low vit. D had been addressed I could have avoided the MS as well as the ulcerative colitis and saved the NHS big money on 4 bowel operations and the management of my condition. I must say my MS was mild and hadn't progressed during the 9 years before I knew of the D3 benefits. Keep taking the D3.
Fasting helps a great deal with MS and other autoimmune issues. It will also help raise vit D levels by lowering insulin and allowing the vit D to come out of the fat cells. Some of the many benefits of doing occasional extended fasting: Blood clotting is reduced and blood clots and arterial plaque are reabsorbed into the body. High blood pressure is lowered to normal levels very quickly while fasting.
Fibrosis/scarring is reversed over time.
Fasting increases nitric oxide release.
Fasting restores NAD+ to healthy levels.
Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it when the fast is broken by increasing lutenizing hormone. Fasting also increases insulin sensitivity, which helps with muscle building.

MS is curable now.
I take 20,000ui a day and does of 50,000ui every 3 months
For 3 Months
I losted 7 inches of my waist too
I was very ill several years ago and was given 25,000u/day - I went from swollen spleen unable to eat and on deaths door for 6 months (losing 4 stone in the process) to feeling 16 years old in less than 1 week and the doctor literally talked to me like I had made it all up/I was describing a miracle.
You took away his chance to play god!
They don't want us to have the cheap effective treatments!
I am certainly not going to say that in no way was that the reason but it does seem unlikely to me. Less than a week when we just heard here that the test subjects levels kept climbing for over a year. When i am put on vitamin d because my levels are too low it takes several months to get it up to an acceptable level so that big a change in a week sounds a little off. But it doesn't really matter. You feel great and that's all that matters.
@@The77Game it isn't unlikely that a severe deficiency would have terrible effects on my immune system, it's 100% likely my spleen was swollen due to persistent untreated infection - why would it be unlikely that a high dose of the only thing I was deficient of be the cause of drastic change? Because levels can increase over long periods?
I'd argue based on logic it was far more likely to be vitamin D related than the SSRI's my doctor insisted on being the best course of action.
They described it as a miracle because to accept what was logical was to accept they almost let me die while trying to treat a vitamin deficiency and kidney infection with antidepressants. I lied to the receptionist to get the blood tests and it was a nurse who prescribed the vitamin D based off the results - prior to this my kidney/spleen pains were pulled muscles due to me feeling the pain while trying to swim and my obstructed stomach/inability to eat was anxiety and depression due to my grandfather passing.
Thank you for being here for us. You give us the truth as well as a calming effect.
Right on, John. I suffered with terrible canker sores all my life until I started taking 7,000 mg Vit. D per day about 20 years ago. I spent all childhood summers in the sun in New England and yet, I contracted every childhood disease possible, including several colds a year. I also contracted Polio from the inoculation.
Now I use canker sores as a barometer of my immune system function. If I start to feel one developing, I immediately add an additional 2,000-5,000 mg until I have complete healing. It has worked every time. Also I have had just one cold and one mild case of Covid in five years. My Vit. D. blood test consistently shows a reading of 79. I am almost 82 years old and all my blood work is consistently right in target range. BP is 115/70. After seeing your excellent vids. on Vit. D, I am increasing my intake an additional 5,000 per day as insurance, so I do not have to let cankers be my barometer. I also take K2 and Lithium that is a part of my 5,000 morning dose. I also take lots of other vitamins and minerals every day. Thank you for your great videos. Every MD should be required to watch them.
We began taking increased doses of Vitamin D early in 2020. I ran across a video of a dr passionately explaining the protection and immunity benefits and I was convinced. We have remained healthy through the past three years and counting. Thank you for continuing to enlighten and educate us, Dr Campbell!
Same. Dr. Ryan Cole opened my eyes to correct Vit D3 dosing and its protection from covid very early on.
Me too.
We have had wonderful Doctors and scientists trying to save our lives for years. They have had their lives destroyed for telling the truth. Truth lives a wretched life, but it will outlive a lie.
Me too and have not been ill since. I also used to battle with stiff joints. Never felt better aged 58.

It’s insane the National HEALTH service isn’t giving us this sort of HEALTH advice. Thank you Dr Campbell, I’m so grateful for all that you do for us 🙏
The doses health services suggest are based on not killing those who have issues which get worse with higher doses. Not to mention high doses will cause most people problems over time. Long term hospitalized patients are not the general public
@@garthdryland can you prove this or supply a source?
@@garthdryland I think these super low doses recommended by our health institutions are based on the wish to earn more money on sick people.
They are still human beings! They were "general public" before being admitted...
They still are no matter what location they reside in.
I love this man! The information and the covert humor/sarcasm hit just the right note! Very informative. ❤
Thank you for this video!!!!! I have been struggling with vitamin D deficiency since I had open-heart surgery quite a few years ago. When I finally discovered that this deficiency was a source of many of my post-surgery health struggles I began taking 4000IU per day. I shared my findings with my GP and all he could say was “be careful with such a high dose like that! You might get liver damage.” However, if I dropped below 4000IU per day, I would have massive hair loss, indicating I was deficient. I did my own searching of scientific journals to find that the dose I was taking was safe long term. I still struggle every winter to keep my vitamin D levels up and I’m always worried about the dosage. Your video has given me renewed confidence in my vitamin D dosage. I even feel like I will probably benefit from an increased dose. Thank you for shining a light on this common and life-affecting health situation and for doing so with such a non-biased, scientifically based method!
In 1970 a veterinary surgeon instructed me to take Vit d3 because I suffered chest problems. Always sniffing, coughing and asthma. He said animals fed D3 in their diet did well and also through newly born animals the first colostrum protectected them from all manner of diseases. On his recommendation, for 53 years my wife and I have taken about 10ml per day-365 per year, and, bingo, I’m 85 years old, my wife almost 82, and we’re still alive and kicking! Certainly, Dr. Campbell deserves International recognition for his fantastic efforts in his research into Vit D3. How do we do it ? By the way, I’ve never mentioned this use of Vit D3 to my Doctor……!

Excellent work Dr. Campbell, your efforts are greatly appreciated!
He's not all he seems.
Excellent video, Dr Campbell. I much appreciate your desemination of such important and potentially health giving benefits of larger doses of B3. Since Covid began and I began to learn the importance of Vit D from this channel, I've been taking Vit D 10,000 per day along with Zinc 25mg twice a day. The only head cold I've gotten is covid. My kids still get colds. My grandkids get colds. I, as a 63 year old grandmother, do not. I recently had my levels checked and I was at 87 ng/mL. Thank you Dr. Campbell, for all your good relevant information!! You have changed my life. I"m sure you've changed others as well!
Be careful with zinc 50mg per day, it could be too much, too much zinc could cause copper depletion, people who take 50mg per day also take copper. it is also a cause of early balding. 30mg per day is perfect
@@awfullawton4470 thank you. I"ll make the adjustment
Been taking D3 supplement for two years before Covid, and no sign of colds or flu for longer,. No Covid symptoms, my GP practice panicked when I got them to test blood level and told me to stop taking it for 6 months. I declined and told them I had followed the research. All noted in my Medical records! I'm an 82 year old great-grandfather, and I'm sick of hearing my 'children' talk about having the flu and always getting colds. Listening to us ancients is something they find difficult, but I keep trying. Even sent them packs of 10,000IU D3 to get them started.
Assume you're taking K2 as well to prevent soft tissue calcification?
I have also been taking vitamin D, zinc, and vitamin C every day since Covid started. And I have never caught Covid that I know of.
unless you have a severe deficiency there is no need to be doing this, you could develop calcium stones
I am learning so much from your videos! Thank you for putting the link to the research. I am posting your videos on my FB page. Thank you again from Canada.

My Crohn’s specialist here in sunny California has had me supplement with 5~10,000 IU vitamin D3 daily for over 12 years. He tests my levels every year. When my levels were very low at first, he prescribed a special high dose vitamin D for a few weeks. Now I take OTC 5000 IU daily, and levels remain stable. Crohn’s has been in remission since then!
Nice to hear of doctors like that🎉

Yes same for Crohn's with me. Vitamin D has helped. But too much Vitamin D made me thirsty. The evidence in France is that the more southerly and sunny the part of France the lower the rates of IBD. What other supplements do you take?
@@alvinasun8055 the high dose prescription he gave me was only available by prescription at that time (around 2010). I don't know if that is the case currently. Well let me chime in with my anecdotal information...I returned to the US from Italy. Shortly after, I fell into a deep depression, achey joints, severe headaches and memory problems, severe fatigue and actually gained weight (from a size 2 to a 5) It really felt as if I had an autoimmune disorder. Did a change of diet and other lifestyle factors contribute to this?
Great info but I knew that the sun was a healer from knee high.. I feel amazing in the sun while grounding . Probably because its GODS medicine 🤔..
As a Norwegian from near the Arctic circle, everyone took a tablespoon full of cod liver oil every month with an R in it. The summer months were spent extensively outdoors, so the natural sunlight provided the required Vitamin D. This knowledge was passed down for many generations, likely thousands of years, judging by the strength of the Vikings and their international conquests. The looming question is, why have people been lied to?
I can beat that score. I got a 5 once.
Thanks for this. I've been seeing a lot of back and forth on this. I take 5K IU a day. Going to go up to 10k IU. I'm healthy in my 60's. I saw a lot of advocacy for higher amounts but no references to studies (but trusted). Then I saw click bait refuting these dosages and I became a little concerned. Thank you for educating so many people about D. I'm a holistic nutritionist who takes 5,000-10,000 IU's per day depending on my daily sun exposure (I live in the tropics). I'm much healthier than the vast majority of my peers, as are the sun welcoming older people I live among who hike and live active lives well into their 80's, 90s, and beyond. It's also important to realize that if you have insulin resistance your D will wind up locked up in your fat cells and unusable, making it hard to get the levels up!
Vitamin D plasma levels are increased as fasting improves metabolic health, and vitamin D in turn increases autophagy.
Stomach acid is reduced over time while fasting and can allow for the healing of treatment resistant ulcers, but some patients may need continued acid reducation medication while fasting.

Most supplements and meds will either break ketosis directly or contain a filler that will. Many meds are dangerous to take while fasting.
Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it when the fast is broken by increasing lutenizing hormone. Fasting also increases insulin sensitivity, which helps with muscle building.

Hi, could you let me know which brand vit k2- MK7 you are taking? Thank you!
I just wanted to say thank you for everything you have done for me and my family. I started to watch your videos during Covid. From that time on I started taking vitamin D and it has really improved my life in so many ways thank you again and God bless
Thank you for your kindness
I was taking 20,000 during the Pandemic but I noticed I had developed something like IBS. I reduced it to 2,000 and the bowels returned to normal. The lesson here is always pay attention to your own body.
Indeed. We're not all the same
Hope you are taking zinc and K2 too Pam, they are both complimentary to the D3👍
yes. 20k is too high. I would not go over 10k daily. I used to take 20k too but its to much.
This underlines the real difference everyone should understand between a medical doctor and a doctor of nursing - nursing concentrates more on immediate issues and solutions, whereas medical doctors are trained better in all related body systems and how to chase the underlying causes to address those, where possible. This makes medical doctors tend to move more slowly and carefully. Sometimes that is important; sometimes it is detrimental. It depends on our need.
Good nurses are super important for the world to have, and Dr. Campbell is the perfect example as to why - when we need more immediate, quickly evolving care/solutions (as in 2020-2023), well-trained nurses like Dr. Campbell can pull us through all of that much more safely than 99% of medical doctors, who will stumble on their oaths and deeper thinking.
Taking high doses of ANYthing in order to "plug a hole" is not a real long-term solution. We all know what a medical doctor would aim at, first and foremost - lifestyle changes where possible (e.g., diet, exercise, stop smoking, drinking, etc.) That is because these machines we're inside of have an uncanny ability to regulate themselves, given half-a-chance, and do not normally require such drastic, quick solutions.
You mis spelt plandemic
I always learn so much when I listen to your talks, thank you for sharing this study with us.
I had a checkup at the doctors and I recieved a letter explaining that I had a Vit D deficiency. I am disabled and dont get out at all. When I looked at how long I would have to take Supplements for the Doc had wrote "The rest of my life"
Dr. Campbell, think of the countless numbers of people that you are helping. You can’t scold yourself for something that was not clear years back. Covid taught us a lot. I started vit D because of you in February 2020. I’m only one person your advice has helped. Thank you for your diligence and attentiveness to scientific data that you have brought to our attention.
I worry more about the harm he may be causing.
It was clear, years ago. He is a latecomer to talking about vit D.
@@doritomorito not true, he was talking about it in spring 20, its why a lot of his viewers either started taking it or upped their dose. He had doctors on talking about nothing else later that year, and brought to our attention the trial in Spain.
@@catloveralways with advice about vitamin D? Do tell.
@@cargumdeu Happy to be corrected, but I do not recall him ever questioning the clear suppression of vit D within medical journals, nor did he clearly state that recommended amounts were way lower than they should be. He seems genuinely surprised as of now that 50K IU doses aren't toxic.
I’ve been taking 5000-10,000 IU of D for years, and most of my patients are on this dose as well. I phage never seen a single case of D toxicity. Important to take vitamin K2 with D3; D3 helps absorb calcium but K2 helps puts that calcium into your bones so it doesn’t end up calcifying your arteries
You have to try really hard to overdose on Vitamin D.
Is there an ideal ratio of K2 to D3 that you recommend?
When I was looking up Vitamin D toxicity for someone who I was friendly with, it mentioned high doses(10,000 UI+) will cause kidney damage.
She was taking 10,000 UI at a time, I think daily, and ended up going for Stage 3 Chronic Kidney Disease, to Renal Failure and had to be on Dialysis, all within a few months. It was super sad to see.
The Sun provides so much Vitamin D to the skin, provided you aren't wearing sunglasses which hurt people. Also, no sunscreen, that's poison and stops absorption of Vitamin D. Fresh Milk from a local farm, made from Grass-fed cattle(or properly fed other animals) is also a great source of Vitamin D. Fresh Milk also has calcium and Vitamin K2.
@@Hass.Ali. Hey Hassan, I use two different brands of supplement.
* One uses a 50 : 1 ratio 5000iu D3 + 100 mcg K2
* The other Brand (Life Extension) uses a more complex mixture and HIGHER doses of Vit-K as follows:
Vitamin D3 (as cholecalciferol) 5000IU, Vitamin K activity from: 2100 mcg, Vitamin K1 (as phytonadione) 1000mcg, Vitamin K2 (as menaquinone-4) 1000mcg
I hope that helps... Stay Well 😊 👍 -70SomethingGuy
I wonder why it doesn’t mention K2. He does mention calcium levels being normal. Would this mean without K2???
What an interesting study! Your detailed explanation is wonderful. I have a genetic tendency toward gluten intolerance and had to see a doctor for an Endoscopy scope. He determined I didn't have celiac but did know to order a D3 test. The test revealed I was at 15 which revealed why I had suffered so much with illness for 45 years. Gluten intolerance is difficult to track down but prevents assimilation of nutrients thereby leaving the system open to whatever is going around. By changing my diet, taking 5k of D3 most days and spending time in the garden I am now at 101 and much healthier with rare colds (never down with the C0vID bug either).
Thank you yet again for your amazing information. We don't get enough advice like this.

Another thing that has a big effect on the immune system is a small amount of extended fasting. This will also reduce insulin resistance which keeps your vit D from being locked up in your fat cells!
Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it when the fast is broken by increasing lutenizing hormone. Fasting also increases insulin sensitivity, which helps with muscle building.

Amazing! Congratulations!! What treatment combination worked for you?
Thank you so much Doctor this is so important issue very educational for all of us who where not aware of the levels that we where supposed to take !
Thanks to this video, I started taking 10,000-20,000 per day with Vit K. All to counteract gloom and lack of sunlight lately in my area. I am feeling so much better for energy and mood after a few weeks. I had been taken 1,000-5,000 previously....to no effect. Life-changing!!
I have proved it to myself over the last 3 years i used to get the flu vaccine every year, and every year i got really sick with the flu. I have listened to you since the beginning of covid. You said that vitamin D3 was very important and that 75% of us didn't get enough. I started taking 4000 units a day. I never got covid, a flu or a cold since that time. I didn't get the covid jab as I didn't trust them. Thank you dr Campbell for your wonderful advice 🥰🥰🥰
I did the same thing I started taking 8,000iu a day on advice on TH-cam and I didn't get covid either, I'm still taking same amount every day and my health has improved and I have copd.
Same here, my wife and I took 3000 a day, didn't take the jab or wear a mask, neither of us have ever caught Covid either.
Same. I used to be unwell with some bug monthly, but i haven't been unwell in over 2 years now and I have not had covid or the vaccine.
Unfortunately I took the chance and got the vaccine. Wanted the azttzenica one because it was the only one made in the traditional vaccine method and was likely the safest (in hindsight way safer than these mRNA vaccines). BUT asfrazenica was banned in Canada because Trudeau invested lots into Pfizer after they bribed him.
So I started taking 7000 iu of vit D per day and my health improved lots. I gained like 20 lbs of mostly lean muscle as if my testosterone was low due to lack of sunlight (I work nights). Still get more colds since I got those vaccines....seems like I hadn't had a cold in a decade and now I get colds regularly but less severe with vit D.
Take vit D and don't get mRNA vaccines
Yeah, you should probably aim for 10,000iu vit d to get your levels up. Oh, and get vaccinated against Covid-19.
I’m so thankful I found your channel in 2020. Pretty sure your recommendations in vitamin d saved my son from severe depression! 🙏🏻 🇸🇪
Well said, I agree. What was your son like before takin vitamin d please & after takin it?
Can i ask what dose your son was on please?
@@sammywhite9906 He was very depressed and had pain in his chest area and heart arrythmia, didn’t want to do things he always liked to do before. Cried without knowing why etc. He takes 5000 IU daily with 200 mcg K2 and 400 mg Magnesium. He’s now back to his normal state, before covid lockdown.

I love, that you are using a fountain pen. I agree with your message as well :)
Thanks Dr C, a very interesting video. Keep up the good work, the wife and I always watch your expos. All the best. D
I took vitamin D thanks to you. I never had COVID. Thank you a thousend times!❤
Same!!!
Yes no problems at all with Covid after taking D3,K2 and zinc for 3 years now.
I occasionally took vitamin d & never had convid19. I never had any experimental jabsz, did you;)!?
In the middle of the pandemic (yes, the middle, during the lock-downs) my mental health improved massively for some reason. This was when I started taking vitamin D, and I've been taking it ever since. I just wish I'd been doing this earlier in my life, it would have been a game changer. Thanks for your content - it's made a huge ongoing improvement to my quality of life.

How much magnesium do you take?
Excellent! Thanks for posting.
Love you, love you Dr John
You are a brave and wonderful soul
Thank you to your service to humanity.
I'm American and take 10,000 a day but skip one day a week. I also take K2 - not too high so I won't get a thrombosis. I knew when Dr. Campbell was taking 400 daily at the beginning of covid that it wouldn't do a bit of good. Thank you Dr. Campbel - you've been our guide for years now.
K1, not K2 promotes blood clotting. K2 won't cause a thrombosis.
K2 can NOT give you thrombosis!
Maybe K1 but not K2!
@@dmmcmah1 What I've heard is that K2 protects against all sorts of cardiovascular issues by decreasing the tendency to calcification of the arteries.
"Thank you" for advice you didn't follow because it "wouldn't do a bit of good"? Dr. Campbell has repeatedly missed or avoided relevant talking points throughout the covid years. I listen to him again to keep up to date with what he's willing to broadcast to his large YT audience - not to keep abreast of the literature or take advice. I wish Dr Campbell well in communicating truthful & helpful information to his audience - but for much of this period, his coverage was so blindly in alignment with the official narrative, I simply had to turn him off.
@@comingviking It also decreases insulin resistance.
I live in Canada. I had a consultation today with a wellness clinic that is outside of our corrupt medical system. The recommendation for vitamin D and the explanation I got today is exactly what you just stated! It's so refreshing to see people with experience outside the corrupt government Medical Systems giving us Health advice. Keep up the great work doctor Campbell!
My GP had tested me, and recommended 1,000 IU of D before the pandemic. He's always felt naturopathy should be practiced in concert with allopathy. It's Nova Scotia, where the controversy began, back in the 80s, with 2 NDs who were persecuted for years. Sorry, I digress. So, I didn't see Dr. R for the duration of the pandemic, and finally saw him last December, got a round of tests. Because of Dr. Campbell, I had upped my dose to 5,000 IU D3 plus K2, and my D level was now a perfect mid-range. I asked him to write a note for 5,000 IU per day, and he said NO that's far too much! Hello, doc! I've been taking 5,000 for 2 years, and look at my bloodwork. He was astonished, but agreed. Dunno why I'm telling you this, but I guess ... just to honour my doc, who also took my advice re intermittent fasting, and in a phone appointment, confirmed in March that he and his partner feel great, and lost weight due to my informing him, recommending a lecture by a cardiac surgeon. Also, though I'm so ANGRY at doctors and nurses, I'm beginning to wonder how many of them feel absolutely trapped by this situation. Anyhow, take care, my fellow Canadian. Let's hope we can wake up all others before it's too late. Love & light from Hali. xx
Canada does not have a ‘corrupt medical system’.
Which government?
@@bullcrap9409 It definitely has a corrupt political system

Thanks, Dr Campbell... clever analysis
Thank you for informative and honest opinion I am going to share with some close girl friends strugglng with health and hormone issues - Ive subscribed to your channel.
I have a testimony... in the beginning of covid when I started watching Dr.John, I listened and started taking high doses of vit.d and others that was mentioned. My health DRAMATICALLY improved. Thankyou Dr.John!!!
How much is a "high dose"?
My wife and I have taken Vit D for over 8 years, 25000 per day. I think one of the main reasons for suppression or reluctance to push this vitamin stems from the drug companies' unable to make huge profits from this drug's sale. Good on you doctor for making this known.
I really appreciate this affirming video by Dr. C. Thank you so much!! I have been on Vitamin D 5000 IU, 125 ug since the pandemic. I never got any illness during this time. But I injured my shoulder doing drywall work and have been in that pain specifically for 18 months. I upped my dose to 25K this week. I would have sworn I took a pain pill. I am truly blown away. Not only has the shoulder/elbow pain diminished, so has my sternal pain and other muscle/bone pain. I cannot believe it. And, we just recieved CBD oil today to try. So far no difference. Anyway, the vitamin d has been remarkable for us these past 4 days. Glad to know there is research to prove it in the science community. And glad to know there are men like Dr. C that has the fortitude to share it! TY again!
hey how is it going ?
Thank you Dr John for this valuable video.
Imagine the positive impact during the pandemic, if they chose to talk about nutrition, exercise and proper vitamin D dosing. (Not a lot of room for profits)
333, me too, everyday! Aloha
@@konavader the government missed a big chance. Could of said health is best defensive against covid. Useless the lot of them
In 2006 I had my vitamin D level checked. It was 10. (low normal for the lab was 30). Needless to say, I was started on 50,000 unit vitamin D. Now on 5,000 units per day, my level is all least around 50. I FEEL much better and suspect that the vitamin D has helped my seasonal affective disorder/depression and overall health. My grandmother died from colon cancer so I hope that along with 4 colonoscopies, improved diet, and lifestyle modifications my cancer risk is lower. My wife suffered from psoriasis. I suggested that she get her vitamin D level checked as my dad was treated with PUVA in the 1980's for his psoriasis. A nurse fried of hers suggested that she get her vitamin D level checked and, thank goodness she listened to her RN friend. My wife's vitamin D level was 7!!! After 6 months of 50,000 unit vitamin D her psoriasis has cleared and been in remission for a number of YEARS. Thank you for your work improving health through education. GJBrownDO 5/15/2023 15:21 Pacific
How much does your wife take daily now?
The ointment I take to keep my psoriasis away is a topical corticosteroid that is 10:1 vitamin D. The effect of vitamin D seems well known to me, but you really need a massive oral dose of vitamin D for the same effect. I guess I'll give 50,000 IU a try.
@@submijiru The 50,000 unit Vitamin D was only available by prescription in the past. It may not require a prescription now in some places. I STRONGLY recommend using that strength only under medical supervision with periodic vitamin D levels to avoid toxicities.
50,000 unit vitamin D per week or day ? Did she take along with Vitamin K2? Still she continues any dose to retain the remission ?
Hello.
Someone I know have severe Psoriasis and your extra information can help to save a life.
Regarding your wife's healing protocol ;
50,000 iu per day or per week?
Vitamin D via injections or supplements?
If supplements, what brand is it? Was she taking other supplements like vitamin K2, zinc, magnesium ect?
How many years in remission now?
And how much dosage she's maintaining daily?
Any special dietary she's following now? Vegan? Gluten Free? Soy Free?
Thank you 🙏🕊️
I am a health coach in the US and counsel people on optimizing their vitamin D levels and I love the way you explain and lay out the research. Very well done and really easy to absorb information. Please continue to do more videos like this.
Excellent video. Thank you.
Years ago I proposed to the Red Cross that they should offer a Vit D test to donors because it’s a blood spot test which would take about 60 seconds to perform. It would also be a great incentive. Obviously, they weren’t on the same page.
Bigharma throws them a few crumbs to follow the line and promote their drugs in return.
That would put the medical field out of commission!!
@@souvlakiG bigharma donations to charities are a tax write off and more importantly allows them use them to promote their drugs as well control them using stick and carrot method.
Im a 45 year T1 diabetic and started daily D3 15 years ago. My dose has been between 2K-4K a day. I have had less than 5 minor colds in that time frame. I'm a very Irish/English/dutch white boy with reddish-blonde hair(what's left of it). Prior to taking D3 i would get 2 bad colds/flu every year. This stuff is magical!!
I went to France last summer and while I was there I got in the habit of eating sardines (mostly because they are filling and cheap). I came back to the US and kept up the habit, eating at least one can per day. I realized the other day that I haven't gotten sick even once since I started eating them, and I work in a high school so I am exposed to a lot of germs all the time. In fact, I am used to getting sick with colds or worse two times per school year. I was resigned to it, but now I think I found an effective defense. I suspect it is the vitamin D.
Thank you so much Doctor, your a Godsend to the masses here in the UK 😊
during covid NZ media ran stories about vit D toxicity and actively belittled people asking about it. iv been taking it ever since :-)
Vitamin D is very likely to have played a major role in allowing the Vikings to kick ass in the manner for which they became famous. They didn't have a lot of sunlight but they used cod liver oil.
Interesting idea!
Very interesting
Thank you so much!
I am so grateful to have more information from Dr. Campbell on Vitamin D3. I was at a deficient level of 32 ng/ml last year in April 2022. I suffered from polymyalgia rheumatica. I could not walk, inflammation of the joints, muscles, and nerves. I felt crippled with the achiness of my whole body. Besides that, I suffered from GCA which damaged my eye nerves. I had double vision and almost lost my right vision. The ER doctor prescribed 60 mg of Prednisone which helped to lower the inflammation. The side effects of insomnia bothered me so much that I asked to taper the dose. I got a lead about prednisone and vitamin D3. I decided to experiment on myself by taking D3 immediately at 15000 IUs and up to 30000 IUs/day. Walking in the sun when IUV is at 7-8 for 1 hour every day. By November 2022, the blood test showed a high level of D: 147ng/ml. I was warned of toxicity. The good side was my pain disappeared with the nutrition of plenty of legumes and fish along with Omega-3, D-3, K2, Magnesium, Zinc, B-12, A, E, Iron, Potassium, B-1, and Calcium.
I conclude that D3 contributes an important factor to health. I have observed how the reaction of D toxicity. I have not seen anything yet, ie Kidney stones, weakness... I have lowered my dose to reach an optimal level by my next blood test which is 70-90 ng/ml. I hope with the information from Dr. Campbell and my testimony will help others have peace of mind about this God-given Vitamin D3, especially with the IUV of the sun. th-cam.com/video/EP81YMvs4yI/w-d-xo.html
