HOW MUCH BIGGER IS THE MILAN GT VELOMOBILE IN COMPARISON TO THE MILAN SL VELOMOBILE ?

We had a Milan GT Velomobile grace us with its presence at Velo ads HQ recently, so I made a vlog comparing the two as I had never ridden a GT before.

Looks lovely John. I'll take it!! For me the issue is the width at the hips and thighs, and also a bit at the shoulders. As you say, I am larger than you (probably about 50% heavier, or more) but there isn't much difference in height. I could ride the SL but I am quite a bit wider and had to bend my legs into unnatural positions that I knew would cause damage to my knees eventually. I would have preferred the SL for racing but it wouldn't have worked and the GT is much better for me. I think it is also a better all rounder and, although I love the racing, that is not the only thing I want it for. I did about 65 miles yesterday and got back feeling much fresher than the times I have done the same route in the Strada. The race hood stops people trying to talk to you while riding, which is good, but there is still way too much excitement and silly behaviour from the drivers around you. My ride yesterday was my first with the combi lid. I ended up taking the neoprene bit out just before Turners Hill, which was a wise choice as it was a bit of a slog. I am pleasantly surprised by how much ventilation there is with the BM hood but yesterday was too hot so even more ventilation was needed. I can now see why people go for the window in the BM hood so you can do slow uphills with the lid open. I would probably consider that now.

We ride a GT and an SL. I'd say the SL is 5-10% faster, depending on the circumstances. Seems the GT responds better to a side or front/side wind; it "sails" better than the SL does. One reason to ride a GT in the Netherlands = freedom of choice between road and cyclepath, which I use a lot, especially when traveling in the evening it causes a large difference in average speed. Both are wonderful touring machines, super efficient and comfortable on long rides.

Got a GT over the SL because I use it for delivery rides XD I do love the Car like feeling, it is very roomy compared to something like a Snoek.

Very interesting John..I can see gt might be better for me..im 5-7 .an 190 lbs..short an stocky..I'm a snug fit in my DF..but comfortable..man, I hope to get a gt someday..I think I'd fit in a sl, too..but I think a gt is a better fit..thanks for the comparison.

Would guess you still fit in an SL with your height, unless your upper legs are really wide. Width in the SL becomes a big problem when you sit too far back, as it gets narrower quite quickly. I'm 6'4" and 210 lbs, can just cram myself into the SL (with some tricks, as far backwards as possible), but sprinting is impossible as I cannot "open up my chest" enough, the sides get in the way. In the GT, I'm never even near the sides.

john gt is for bigger up to 2 meters and wider shoulder with sl is a sardine can to fit me I don't get under the ring alleweder is same I fit in

hennin tesch is bigger then me he is the velomobile ottersdorf but i have more weight 260 pounds been stiffening/ embraced to my weight when I order or get one

@@johanneskoedood2235 Henning stiffened mine too. I'm 210 lbs, I usually travel with quite a bit of luggage and it's proven to be super reliable. 200cm in a Milan GT might be challenge though, long legs can be a problem. I run 150mm cranks, I'm 194cm and my knees only just clear the edge where the hood meets with the body.
