Every tuner should be checking plugs at least 3x bare minimum. I’m a tuner and take it from me - if you brought your car to a tuner who didn’t check your plugs and oil before even starting your engine- don’t take it there again 😂 I have never tuned a car without looking at the plugs at least 3x bare minimum. Even knock sensors and wideband gauges lie- we need to see the plugs and check for signs of knock and recheck gaps if not check for signs of blow-by etc. every tuner should be physically checking plugs. Learned that before anything -always check plugs. Idc if you say they’re new today and you checked them yourself 😂 I go further than checking all the plugs and measuring gaps- i check every cylinder with a borescope camera before I ever touch the ignition key. Foolish to do otherwise and irresponsible. If I can see your plugs are full of molten piston aluminum (it happens) I’m gonna know before my ass touches that driver seat and you’re gonna know before anybody starts your car. We like to bitch but we’re car guys too and trust me even if you’re annoying I’m gonna do my absolute best to make sure I’m not hurting your car- and putting a car on a dyno to tune without checking plugs and fluids and the whole checklist is just wrong. Ebay turbos are hit or miss there are a few company's we use to see some customers use that were decent turbos hell there are a couple of them still running 10 yrs later
I think that applies to the majority of eBay /Amazon stuff. Some things I have tried out and had really good results and heard of other people having terrible results.

I thought boost was air flow? I never would have thought there would be that much different between two turbos at the same boost level. Back pressure? Or is was it just blowing hot air? Or both?
so i have a question hopefully you or someone in the comments can help me with i want to run a twin turbo 5.3 set up the reason why i want to run twins is because i want 700 to the wheel on less boost then what i would need on just 1 turbo(obviously i know 1 turbo can get the job done) also would like the option to be able to achieve higher numbers on less boost now my question is in terms of longevity of the motor(forged pistons and rods 12000 hp rated) will running 2 turbos(78 mm) on less boost help vs running 1 turbo on more boost im new to the idea of turbos
Ya gotta love that drivetrain noise. Well at least i felt safe from behind the screen, dont know about you. Major ass puker moment everytime on deceleration!
It takes a lot more exhaust energy to spin a large mis-matched compressor with a small turbine, which is what that 76-65mm turbo is incarnate. You make less power down low from that and less power up top due to turbine choke flow. They spool up fast, but that doesn't mean it makes power there.
Me too! A lot of other tuners ask me why i spend the time i do on them and say they would turn “sloppy style” cars away. I’ve had the most fun with the budget build type stuff. Yes there are some frustrations that go along with it, but it’s rewarding when it works out.
So if the cheep turbo is makin the boost presure at the manifold but not makin the same power as the more expensive turbo at similar boost levels would your thoughts be that the cheep turbo was so far out of its efficiency range on the compressor it was just feeding the engine super hot air or do u think it was a restriction on the turbine side ??
To much back pressure from the 65mm turbine wheel (exducer). The 75mm exducer on the bigger turbo is much better suited for the job as a single on a v8.
ok so on my build its a gen 3 5.3 going to be running twin gt35s e85sloppy best cam. do you think it will hit the same numbers? I am running the truck intake its a budget build also

the ebay 76 is generally a 76/65 or smaller on the turbine in some cases. huge difference.
