- The second war smashed onto our screens bigger and better than before! The introduction of the new house robot Sir Killalot brought shock and awe to the wars. New presenter Craig Charles presents, Johnathon Pearce commentates and Philippa Forrester interviews the teams. The six combatants are Napalm, Demolition Demon, Victor, Panda Monium, Piece De Resistace and Caliban.
LET THE SECOND WARS BEGIN!
BBC 1998 All Rights Reserved.
I always found the maze sections pretty dull...
until you hear the words "AND IN COMES SIR KILLALOT" and that puts a huge smile on my face. :)
3 routes to choose.
There seem to be ALOT of questions on these videos about how a bot only made a certain distance.
It's not 'where you got at your farthest point' it's 'where did you wind up by the time we stopped you'.
Napalm in the first one was over 7m BECAUSE of Sir Killalot. He pushed their bot and wedged it between the ramp and railing, but a decent ways down, so it was technically past the 7m mark. Piece did NOT make it far, as Sir Killalot was holding it just BARELY past the brick wall spot, so it barely went anywhere. Caliban had a terrible score because Sir Killalot pushed it all the way back to the rails at the beginning, even IF it knocked the 3m mark off the wall, it didn't matter... it ended up .2m from the starting line.
It's not a hard concept to see how they score things, watch Season 1, and continue watching. You pick up the rules quickly if you pay enough attention.
DiafolMedrus It's pretty easy to grasp, but apparently a lot of the others that commented don't pay enough attention :\ I'm glad you pointed it out, because I was going to if nobody else did.
Much as I love the destruction, I still love the gauntlet and challenges of the old days.
Like takeshi's castle!.
i love how piece de resistance became sir kill alot's toy
Thanks so much for the videos.
i just found an old highly distorted VHS recording of this off whyy,"tv 12".. It's been so long since i watched the tape, elementary school definitely.
"only 5mm ground clearence for victor"...looks a bit more than 5mm to me pearce
Why even go by Killalot's route XD?
House robots CEASE When you told to.
Yeah tell that to cheeky Matilda
"Robot Ears. Stand by."
9:00 was so funny XD
turbo charged! XD
and then the house robots just come in and push it over XD
when i think of skittles, i think of a candy...
Sir interferes alot haha
Caliban looked awesome. I wish it got past the Gauntlet, because I think it would have beaten pretty much every other robot in the heat. I can't understand why they had SIr Killalot take Piece de Resistance further down the Gauntlet, it's one of the worst Robots I have ever seen on the show- weak armour, slow, weak weapon, and incredibly little power- it couldn't knock down one skittle. Why it was allowed into the series while great robots like Griffon were originally reserves is beyond me.
Caliban, what a piece of junk! I love the Skittles trial, Demolition Demon owned the field and no wonder the house robots weren't happy! Victor was quite lucky to make the heat semis considering it's poor ground clearance despite completing the gauntlet thanks to Sir Killalot giving it a hand. "It was a bit like Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest, nul points!" CRAIG YOU LEGEND, at least the driver from Piece de Resistance wasn't disappointed.
More like Piece De Resistance, what a piece of junk! And what is skittles?
Or should I have said barrels lol
Jack Walker They call barrels skittles in England?
Robot Wars is still ongoing in the UK it's just not televised :)
Yes, Caliban WAS the first full-body spinner! Thank god they went out!
2C'mon stop, it they've gone beserk!" Jonathan Peirce is such a good commentator!
@BromTown They should both host :P
Charles for the exciting play by play, and Clarkson just to rip on everyone :P
Like Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest, well that dates it, today he would say UK.
JP has a point. 3:59 is a GHASTLY sight. :P
Shame, Caliban looks like it could have inflicted some damage.
Shame that Caliban didn't make it though the gauntlet round, it would have done well in the arena.
I feel like it was too light. With such small blades and low weight it wouldn't really generate enough force to deal much damage.
Panda Monium, Demolition Demon and Victor got through to skittles.
'why don't the house robots just keep themselves to their own lanes?
Cause they're bullies is why
@Daiyuki117 got pushed backwards and yes that counts even though it should be different
No, sadly it just ended, but I want it back, the house robots still exist, and so do quite a few of the robots, especially the successful ones.
yeah, but I want it back in this format, with the proper house robots, and the bigger and better arena.
i always wanted his jackets XD
Craig Charles is so much nicer and funny then the guy in the last series
Jeremy Clarkson.
And now we have shows like Jersey shore, sad how TV got changed
Wish i could get this in decent quality
It wasn't much better than this on the telly, this was the 90s remember.
This used to be a tv show...
my farts are more dangerous than Piece De Resistance!
I feel horrible knowing PDR got past the first round. That poor machine, it really shouldn't have seen this battlefield with the equipment it had.
8:24 BESERK HOUSE ROBOTS!!!!!
strage editing how they cut from action to interview
Piece de Resitance was lucky that Caliban had a design flaw.
8:35 wtf why they attacking him?
with the newest series just having ended, the robots in this episode look so cheap xD
lol demolition demon was awesome. house bots cant do shit against that type of robot.
Skittles?
yup
I honestly believe that Caliban's distance on the scoreboard was a data glitch and that it was supposed to be 2.0m instead. It makes much more sense since it wasn't moved that far back, and it'd still be out since it's lower than Piece De Resistance's 3.8m.
Clarkson would've probably been just that fired up after a few toots on the crack pipe too
Did it get canceled
Twice due to dangerous machines.
yes this was an amazing show better than anything that's on the tv now its all crap cheep reality tv cause its cheep and way too easy to make if bbc or any company invested in robot wars or combat robotics with education thing behind it so many more people would get into all sorts of things to do with robotics.. electronics hydraulics metal work etc
how did Caliban only go 0.2m? The 1m post was at the back wall!
its funny to see how unsufisticated these botscare compaired to todays standards
BARRELS!?!?!? (pewdiepie referance)
@ 10:08 Nil point
Well if it was the 3m marker that its weapon sent flying, as Jonathon said it was, then it could only have been slightly behind that!
So wait.. Caliban knocked the 3 Meter marker off the wall.. but only went 0.2m? Umm... What?
It amuses me that there is a blatant flail weapon in this series, when in the 1st World Championship a similar, much more controlled flail weapon was banned outright. Safety standards back then were amusingly British; 'eh, it'll be fine with a cup of tea!'
Comparing Caliban's weapon to Mauler's weapon though is like comparing Napalm to Hypnodisc ;)
Absolutely awful machine :s
