- The second war smashed onto our screens bigger and better than before! The introduction of the new house robot Sir Killalot brought shock and awe to the wars. New presenter Craig Charles presents, Johnathon Pearce commentates and Philippa Forrester interviews the teams. The six combatants are Panic Attack, Disrupter, Corporal Punishment, Whirling Dervish, Ron and The Parthian Scott.

The ramp is hard enough without the house robots messing the hell out of it cmon XD
Oh my god, the Gauntlet was SUCH bullshit! Dead Metal shouldn't have been allowed to move the ramp and Sir Killalot should not have been allowed to drive up the ramp keeping it permanently down. Really unfair stuff going on here.
Also the fact that some bots faced a wall, others faced barrels and now there's neither of them. Consistency was nowhere to be seen!
Completely agree, far too inconsistent with the Sentinel then being added later on as well. It wasn't fair having multiple house robots blocking one route from both behind and in front. The ramp moving and pinning was out of order.
The house robots were real pricks in this series!
It's almost as if the house robots realised that without the bricks that middle route is suddenly much easier than any of the others, we'll see about that!

Panic Attack's run on the gauntlet; I'd like to think that the guys controlling the house robots were all talking to each other to orchestrate that assault- it just seemed planned.
There is a way to tell the front and back of the Whirling Dervish: there's a headlight just under the bandsaw.

I cannot watch this heat without thinking of my childhood, and the tape I used to record this great show.
The debut of Panic Attack! Despite not finishing the Gauntlet, no one saw how far they would get. Corporal Punishment had a wonderful design, Adam Clark was happy to make the Trial this time. Disrupter was quite an underdog and Parthian Shot... What a waste of space!
The house robots used the cheapest tactics possible on the ramp all through this heat.
Shunt's driver once stated that "putting holes into Panic Attack" was one of his most favourite moments.
I can only assume that the parthian shot came into the area via invisible wire because that thing never worked ever!

Watching this at the time, I dont think any of us even dared think that little yellow and black robot with just a pair of lifting forks would go on to win it all and become one of Robot Wars' most prominent teams...
...but it did.
Panic Attack.
RON was the predeccesor to Axios in series 3 who ironically went out against champions Panic Attack in round 1.
There were some great robots in this heat. So great that the winner of the heat went on to win the whole series.
And the 4th wars sumo.

SleightCreative Actually giving Killalot the freedom of the Arena in the pinball trials was BS if you consider some of the robot designs back then.
The guys who piloted the house robots never read the Rules. I actually met the guy who drove Dead Metal here, they never told him he wasn't allowed to do that. He figured it out but decided it was a valid excuse.
The drivers must've gotten a pay cut or something, the house robots were fucking ferocious this episode. Moving the ramp and blocking off/ganging up on the robots seems pretty mean and unfair, the house robots already cheat in terms of weight and they outnumber you and have more familiarity with the course.
Wouldn't they fire the drivers because of this though?

WTF?! I'm the biggest fan of Robot Wars, but it's really unfair when the house robots making such a mess like they did in Disruptor's perfomance 😕 Lol I was really impressed and happy when Apollo has flipped 3 of 4 house robots ❤
Fact: Disruptor didn't have a failsafe nor an 'on off switch' so it was always on in the pits which nowadays would make it an 'illegal' robot.
Adam Clark's name sounds familiar...did he make 259 later?

Panic Attack were always the favourites in my family, why? Because of home town bias ;) So, we hated Firestorm as well :)

Pity lame what Killalot did to them in the Gauntlet though. Still, that's nothing compared to the bullshit Dead Metal pulled on Ron and Disruptor- completely disrupting the ramp position while Killalot had already penned them in from behind. The House Robots really DID fuck up everything in the first 2 series didn't they?
