- Drones are fast, and with the latest technology, they've gotten pretty precise, too... But tracking a flying arrow at 60mph still seems like an impossible feat. We brought Vanover, one of the top drone pilots in the world, to see if this shot can be achieved!

No it would have been perfect if he pulled up and out at the last second, finishing with a crash just isn’t smooth.
Wasn't smooth? Lmao the level of focus for him to track that arrow is amazing.... Honestly tracking that arrow and holding it in frame is amazing at its self and then factor in rolling around the arrows flight axis is stunningly difficult (prolly isn't 10 pilots in the world that would be capable of that in a reasonable amount of takes...) You can tell that his focus on tracking that arrow was so much so that he flew it in to the ground chasing it... There was no error there... He did exactly what he was intending to do and that's track that arrow in flight while rolling around its axis... He tracked the arrow all the way to the ground (yes i know he didn't intend to crash) and it was flat SICK... Vanover skills, reflexes and smoothness are absolutely insane the kid is literally super human on the sticks... If he would have pulled out of it it would have been totally perfect but to me him sticking it in the ground just shower how locked on to that arrow he was.... Also remember this, is was WOT while chasing and running prolly 60 degrees of fov cam tilt... His arch is tracking the arrow and keeping it in frame the whole flight the arrow flies in a arch so he is following that arch again remember at WOT... Pulling out would have cut the shot short as with the rate of decent he couldn't have yanked up at 10 feet off the ground and recovered... You would have never seen the arrow hit and the shot finished sooner to save it because he would have had to pull out another 10 feet higher or more then when he attempted to in the shot...
Remember we are seeing this in 240fps so what is tracking he is seeing it at 7 to 8x the speed we are watching it at
Taking anything away from the skill of this shot is simply unacceptable... The skill is beyond amazing and should be held at that tier

...and filmed with a Red camera from a beast class drone.
It's a one time shot and someone has to get paid thousands of $ for that one shot

Apparently the limit is 100mph, so no. A bullet travels around the speed of sound, or faster. 100mph is only 150 fps... You could probably chase a really slow pellet gun.. but there are pellets which shoot at 1200 fps, 800, etc... so it would be a cheap half a pump or 1 pump childs toy... or using compressed air... but typically bullets travel around 800 fps to 3200 give or take a bit.

Truly amazing footage. If you were to watch from 7:56 to 8:13, you’d think someone stuck an HD camera on another arrow. I watched that about 50 times.

Wow that was some great FPV! I have an idea for a chase shot, you should go to the ski resorts and team up with the avalanche patrol and chase it when they do a controlled detonation. Your drones are definitely fast enough to keep up.

Unfortunately you're gonna lose resolution that way :/ the arrow might be less visible with a 360 cam :/

I tried this with clay pigeons and shotguns,,, couldn’t really see the pigeons,,, and my friends were just dying to shoot the drone

Oh jeez I'll be honest the osmo footage kinda looks like just 50mbps dji fpv air unit recording footage...
Kyle Li ehhh I’d totally disagree and own a hero 8, Osmo, and am on 50mbps. The DJI recording has almost no dynamic range at all. The grass would be wayyy darker on the DJI. I just tested this a couple days ago because I forgot to hit record and the footage was totally unusable honestly from the air unit.

I had this idea months ago but I got lazy and didn't try it. After seeing how hard it was to pull off I'm glad I didn't bother!! As usual Vanover pulls off what is seemingly impossible, awesome video 🔥🔥
faster compound bows can shoot at 300fps, so there ae quads out there that could keep up
My pse is 337fps. And a scorpyd xbow is about 500fps.
300 fps is over 200 mph no quad can fly that fast.
@@NightWolfBiker not sure if the vid's been removed but someone went around 250mph with a quad and I think ryan l has shared a few vids displaying quads edging out past that 200mph
I've shot bows my whole life, even as an infant. TEST ME. Perhaps using a luminox glowing arrow nock may help to trace arrow. Also using a little longer arrow as the kinetic energy causes the arrow to do this wobble thing where it moves a little slower through the air but with same energy. This will make no sense to a normal person...

This is a single video that got me hooked on FPV. Few hundred hours between sims and real quads in just few months. My best hobby up till now and I had plenty.
