Love your FPV videos and totally agree with he ups and downs of the different drone types. I love my FPV drones, but Mavic clips are just classy, clean and very vlog friendly. Comparing FPV to Mavics feel like comparing a hammer to a saw to me.
Beautiful video. As a new business, starting from scratch with drone work (not sure what specifically, that's how new we are)... We're getting both drone styles. The beauty of DJI, crosses both worlds, just enough. With a Mavic 3 Pro and Mavic 3E, an Avata, a Lumenier QAV-PRO/Cine... The possibilities are endless.
I think the biggest difference is the adrenaline. There is no way a gps drone can produce the kind of emotional rush the fpv can but there is no way an fpv can highlight a subject from different perspectives a gps drone can. I recently bought the Avata after a decade of wanting a drone but refrained from doing so simply because the gps drone felt like more work for me and I wanted to enjoy the immersion of flying. Really enjoyed this video Peter. Really highlights the differences.
Old man New to FPV, Really enjoyed the comparison, I do see that all the shots are absolutely great, it is a matter of perspective, as the speed element and altitude make the FPV drone superior over all, good teamwork there too.
From a pure "flying enjoyment" perspective, regular drones can't come close to the enjoyment that I get out of FPV. I can go through 10+ packs and not be bored. That said, I love how easy it is to get up in the air with my Mavic 3 and how worry free it is once I'm flying. It's perfect for getting those cinematic establishing shots, whereas FPV is perfect for the action. The Mavic is like driving around in a luxury sedan, and FPV is like tearing up a track in an open wheeler. They're both great for totally different things, and they both have a spot in my fleet.
The slower it goes the cleaner the shot. You can speed things up where needed later with the editor. The more help you can get the better and the goggles and motion control for DJI might make it super easy to do those tricky circle shots.
I absolutely love the adrenaline rush from fpv, but I also think when making a movie, you need both shots. One calm and super stable, and one full of action and thrill. Adapted for a scene specific needs
Best purchase you can buy for starting FPV is a simulator compatible controller.. As can practice & crash as often you like .. Also get a analogue system.. & a GoPro later if you like .. Analogue system is cheap.. also sit down when beginning to learn as some people can suffer motion sickness 😀👍☘️.. Great footage from you both
Im really happy I started fpv at such a young age (was about 3 years ago, im still pretty young) so I think I will be one of the best pilots one day, but my FCs always break after like a month so I can only fly for about 2 months before having to wait about 2-6 months to get enough money to get a new one. Thats super annoying.
Your FPV skills have got quite good. I will have the Avata pretty soon and it will be my first step into the FPV rabbit hole. It would be great to get to your level. Thanks for sharing some details on how you trained and how much work you put into it. Once I have the remote and goggles, I’ll be hitting the flight simulator. You stacked another skill and that’s what I’m hoping to do. Well done, Peter!
Entering into the money pit that is drones. This made the decision easy. This is the only thing I couldn't decide. FPV it is. To learn and get into it. Then I'll get a DJI for making money that's not cinematic. I'm getting me a $500 starter fpv set up. Then I'll get a used phantom professional or 2S Air.
As a professional drone user (Drone Service Italia) I prefer both worlds, not just this or that. And you need to know how to choose with visual accuracy which drone is best. The fpv shots are absolutely dynamic, even using a cinewhoop, but there are times when you use an FPV and others a stabilized DJI, for example, and others where you use cinelifters to have extreme quality, given that you load important loads on this cam and heavy. FPV in very open environments doesn't work, if you go down in altitude, and flying over that narrow river, honestly beautiful yes, but I would prefer to use FPV exclusively on the waterfall, while I'm going towards the waterfall itself and I throw myself over it descent, or while climbing the waterfall. Filming of the river from above only and exclusively with a stabilized DJI. I always really appreciate that beautiful slow movement that makes you observe everything. While an FPV even at low altitude if you had to pass it through a rock gorge. But these are just examples that come to mind. The extremely dynamic flight on the plate never pays off. Unless you get to a place where fpv is needed. I know in Thailand on a long beach, and then getting the FPV into a nice big house. Obviously these are just personal comments. And I agree regardless of whether a person thinks differently.
Coming from a cinematic aspect, both styles have merits, depending on how you want to tell a story. The FVP is great for the fast dynamic sweeping movement, while DJI for those horizontal stabilised shots. Though I’m not a fan of always flying so low with the FPV, I think it would be better flying a few meters higher while still keeping the speed
the difference between these two drones is that fpv drones especially when used in this context capture more of the feeling of nature it's almost like you're a gust of wind just blowing along the scenery and normal drones are capturing the scenery as a hole so you're not a part of the scenery but you're seeing all of it you're getting the grandiose nature of in this case Iceland itself it gives you a feeling for the area without having to be there now if you use just one of these methods you will get fantastic results but if you use both and change them together you can string some of the most visually pleasing cinematics that human technology has given us the privilege to make
@@PeterLindgren1 the progress of your FPV flights is really amazing. I would see you face to face and drone by drone with Matti Haapoja - that would be a great challenge :)
I'm on the fence, as an Air2s pilot the first FPV stuff I saw was HEAVY on aerobatics and was honestly a turnoff. Seeing more cinematic FPV made me buy an Avata 2 recently, the ease with which the notion controller works is amazing and after more time in the sim I'll be able to add a little more "zing" with a cinematic flair. I'm already getting ideas for incorporating the two at the same location to get a one-two punch!
I'm stuck working at a 9x5 schedule and my budget is coping too slow before I can get either of these. But it's always been my dream to learn to do this, make a living out of it, and finally quit any desk job so I can spend my time outdoors, traveling and meeting new people.
I think a 7inch fpv, running inav with a new m10 gps module is pretty dang good now with return-to-home. Plus 7inch you gain double the flight time or more plus it's just a more stable setup with larger props.
Beautiful cinematic photography from the M3 but heart stopping fighter pilot perspective from the FPV. You’ve both got a new subscriber in me so hopefully you’re both winners 👍
I fly both and feel like i have better control with my Quads than my Air 2s. The Mavic is great for simple streamlined shots that don't require elevation changes or changes in heading that are sharper than 20- 30 degrees heading. It is much more limited in what can be captured compared to any of my quads.
No one mentions that you can upload a lot of different flight controller software to achieve different goals on an fpv quad, if you use betaflight it's more about racing but then if you have a GPS with magnetometer on your fpv you can achieve the same stability with INAV instead of betaflight as a Mavic and have full auto landing and return to home stuff, and you can add sensors and stuff if you know some about soldering and sensors, anyway cool video
Different tools for different scenarios :) I just upgraded from Air 2s to M3 Pro and shot my first video on Saturday with it (on my channel now 😜). However I could have used your fpv skills on that project in order to make it even more actionfilled, so maybe I need to invite you over to Denmark next year for the Sportscar Event at Jyllandsringen ;)
Well, I have them all^^ Fpv is more a DIY hobby and the focus is flying. I compare it with skateboarding, locate a nice spot and try to improve and limit test every time. RTF drones are more like a minivan with a great camera. FPV is cheaper for sure! If you buy high end components you pay high end prices! 5 inch 6s with a dji 03 ($600) 1500mah 6s battery ($70) Remote of your choice, I use the TBS Tango2 ($250) Dual Charger ISDT mark2 ($120) DJI goggles v2 ($800) In a crash 75% of the time you take of with turtle mode 3 sec later and everything is fine. If something brakes you fix it on the spot, noone could fix it better than you! replace a motor or a arm in 20 min for $20 Crash a RTF and you have to send it in and you wont fly for a while.
Hey man i’ve been flying Dji drones for years now, i’ve been thinking to start my journey with FPV, you think Dji fpv avata is a good starter? Or is a custom built one better?😊
They are 2 different drones. Primary if you're out to do the Maverick runs you want the FPV. Those being used for typical photography like what the Mavic 3 Pro can do which is insane! Would be kind of useless that that FPV drone. It has to be fast video and short battery life. I am liking my Avata. You may not get the speed using the Avata for FPV like the FPV Drone, but you can do pretty well with it at slower speeds. 60mph isn't bad at all for a top speed in this area. I can also use my Avata a bit like the Mavic 3 and using the Goggles 2 to help control the Camera it can help you stay targeted on something pretty decently and take some pretty nice shots. Functionality wise I 100% get it doesn't hold a candle to the Mavic 3 in its amazing ability to do aerial photography and all the functionality is absolutely insane. But, I am happy! I have been drooling a bit over the DJI Mavic Classic! I have the Air 2s and I do love it, but it's hard to look away from the Mavic Classic! The Avata in the FPV area does have one major advantage. It can fly in FPV mode for about 15 plus minutes! Depending on if you have to do max speed almost nonstop! many spots I can do lesser speeds and still have an amazing time with it. Wait, sorry I am talking too much!
It's funny how you tested to see which shot was better but it was almost like the Mavic's shots were amazing establishing shots for the FPV drone shots.. Just taught me equipment really does have a time and place.
Cruising the ridges with the FPV is definitely and has it's uses. The mavic gave more detail because it wasn't always racing. It gives more time to look at the details.
Also a thing to consider when buying a fpv drone is to buy a nice camera like a GoPro 9,10,11,12. Which add a lot of money too. And you ll crash a lot more at the beginning !
Also FPV drones are more about appreciating the movements as opposed to appreciating the scenery. Yes you can still show off the scenery with FPV but they’re so fast you don’t really get much time to soak it in.
I love FPV the feeling of flying in cloud or amazing location and travelling to remote place is the best feeling. Hiking the peak of mountain a feeling that you cant explain . The choice of drone is on your style too and yes may come expensive to get started but after its not too bad until you get more drone 😂
For being in both sides, I can tell that you touched a lot of true things in the comparison. I think it also lacks contest. FPV is great for standalone content, like Instagram reels. But for commercial, corporate videos, you can't let the whole line in the final edit and you have to think of shots that go well together. Sometimes FPV does not fit at all sadly. What I realised after almost two years of FPV is that it is the action cam of drones. It is very specific in terms of where it truely fits and where it belongs, because the camera is dependant of the drone. Where FPV is for me the future, it is for dual op, with one hell of a pilot control the drone with the precision of FPV (allowing flight paths Mavic wouldn't dare to try), and one camera operator. The Inspire is the ultimate drone in that instance in my opinion, there is very little things it can't do !
I would say I prefer the FPV, as I think you can get good results with the action-type shots and smooth shots too. The difficulty level is incredible though 😂 Loved both, but the FPV has a slight edge ❤
I love the fpv shots. However i wouldn’t want a whole video filmed with that thing. Rather use it for specific shots and use a dji for most of the footage. Grym video!
Also. I dont find drones racing through toght spaces that interesting. I actully find it boring vs a slow moving drone capturing a nice subject vs a gamer flying through holes. What is imortant for everyone to understand is that it can be super easy to learn and do for everyone and it allows us to get our eyes in the sky to see what we always wanted to see and do.
Hey buddy, i love you & thanks for making this video, i really appreciate the type of videos you make & i also want to learn fpv but due lack of funding & resources, i end up watching videos of fpv drones from 2020-2023, i know it's of no use till I get a fpv with my simulator setup, just love watching these videos made by you, thanks for helping us..❤❤❤
👍👍👍 For years I always thought of FPV drones as super glued, short range, duct taped up pieces of sh*t. And alot of them are, but alot of them are really well oiled machines that have been meticulously put together. Mindfully. Piece by piece

Thanks for sharing some details on how you trained and how much work you put into it. Once I have the remote and goggles, I’ll be hitting the flight simulator. You stacked another skill and that’s what I’m hoping to do. Well done, Peter!
Great that you put Terry on the Channel! Have been enjoying his content as well :)
Both have there own form of story telling for sure. Right tool for which job you are on.
one year later and its still my favorite video on TH-cam.❤❤❤❤
Both work, hand in glove with one another, for the perfect video. Period!
What battery are you using for long range? 5 inch with full. Gopro? Isnt too heavy for that 5inch drone thanks savy video btw❤
Using a 3000mah batt
@@PeterLindgren1isnt too heavy for 5inch plus gopro? I really dont wanna fly 7 inch..... 5 inch is pretty good for me..btw savy fly ❤❤❤❤
Master piece HOT AS HELL FPV WATERFALLS SHOT! Appreciate that man
this is like a battle between a slider and a gimbal, steadycam vs handheld. They are all tools to achieve a specific style.
the difference between these two drones is that fpv drones especially when used in this context capture more of the feeling of nature it's almost like you're a gust of wind just blowing along the scenery and normal drones are capturing the scenery as a hole so you're not a part of the scenery but you're seeing all of it you're getting the grandiose nature of in this case Iceland itself it gives you a feeling for the area without having to be there now if you use just one of these methods you will get fantastic results but if you use both and change them together you can string some of the most visually pleasing cinematics that human technology has given us the privilege to make
The images are absolutely incredible from both drones I already had Mavics but now I don't change it for anything FPV drones give more adrenaline
Fpv more fun 😍 but mavic is also savy drone
I don’t know why, but that waterfall “top gun” moment had me dying hahah
FINALLY someone noticed 😂
Epic footage from both of you!
i own both and i'm glad i do
Dude, you've come SOOOOOOO far! Bravo! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The quality of this video Peter is out_f***ing_standing. Watched with pleasure. Nice FPV shots btw
Thank you man!
I'm already getting ideas for incorporating the two at the same location to get a one-two punch!
definitely you are getting better and better on FPV
So proud of you Peter! Putting in the time and effort is paying of! When are we going to iceland and compare komodo vs fx6?
Hahaha, it has to happen bro!
I really like the FPV footage but some shots from the Mavic feels more relaxing. I would take a mavic and a fpv and mix these two. Btw. great Video!
I'm stuck working at a 9x5 schedule and my budget is coping too slow before I can get either of these. But it's always been my dream to learn to do this, make a living out of it, and finally quit any desk job so I can spend my time outdoors, traveling and meeting new people.
Get a mini 2 se...
Or get a new job because its no excuse now if you really want it it's out there
I think a 7inch fpv, running inav with a new m10 gps module is pretty dang good now with return-to-home. Plus 7inch you gain double the flight time or more plus it's just a more stable setup with larger props.
Yeah, I brought the 7” but it’s a little bit too big imo. The 5” is so responsive!
@PeterLindgren1 A 6inch is also nice in between, especially carrying a gopro. But I agree that 7inch can be cumbersome when traveling.
Beautiful cinematic photography from the M3 but heart stopping fighter pilot perspective from the FPV. You’ve both got a new subscriber in me so hopefully you’re both winners 👍
Peter and Terry, my new favorite drone sitcom!
Peter your collabs are AWESOME! Thats what makes you the GOAT!!!! Keep up the Hella Good Work!
That’s the thing though, most people don’t want to learn the soldering, programming and other stuff 🤷🏻
The right tool for the right job. There is no overall better.
Heck yeah Peter your shot was the epic one . Awesome video. Fpv baby ! It rocks🤘🏻
That waterfall scene was great. Well done.
what is the flight time on a battery and can you share the capacity of the battery you're using for the FPV
It’s like 8-10 minutes
Great comparison. excellent shots from both. I have fpv but still also like the dji and would like one eventually.
THIS EPISODE IN SLICK AND INFORMATIVE. Outstanding!
You both are amazing pilot 😮❤❤❤
Well, I have them all^^
Fpv is more a DIY hobby and the focus is flying.
I compare it with skateboarding, locate a nice spot and try to improve and limit test every time.
RTF drones are more like a minivan with a great camera.
FPV is cheaper for sure! If you buy high end components you pay high end prices!
5 inch 6s with a dji 03 ($600)
1500mah 6s battery ($70)
Remote of your choice, I use the TBS Tango2 ($250)
Dual Charger ISDT mark2 ($120)
DJI goggles v2 ($800)
In a crash 75% of the time you take of with turtle mode 3 sec later and everything is fine.
If something brakes you fix it on the spot, noone could fix it better than you!
replace a motor or a arm in 20 min for $20
Crash a RTF and you have to send it in and you wont fly for a while.
Loved this, very entertaining!!
Hey man i’ve been flying Dji drones for years now, i’ve been thinking to start my journey with FPV, you think Dji fpv avata is a good starter? Or is a custom built one better?😊
Amazing starter drone for FPV 👊🏼
In my opinion, like every bit of equipment in film making, both have their place for certain situations.
Your fpv skills have come so far already! Keep up the good work man!👏🔥
It's funny how you tested to see which shot was better but it was almost like the Mavic's shots were amazing establishing shots for the FPV drone shots.. Just taught me equipment really does have a time and place.
Cruising the ridges with the FPV is definitely and has it's uses. The mavic gave more detail because it wasn't always racing. It gives more time to look at the details.
you can go slower with an FPV drone
Also a thing to consider when buying a fpv drone is to buy a nice camera like a GoPro 9,10,11,12. Which add a lot of money too. And you ll crash a lot more at the beginning !
Also FPV drones are more about appreciating the movements as opposed to appreciating the scenery. Yes you can still show off the scenery with FPV but they’re so fast you don’t really get much time to soak it in.
Can definitely slow down if needed. And shoot Mavic style. But that’s not fun lol
Ahhh no way, I've been following Terry for years now!
I love FPV the feeling of flying in cloud or amazing location and travelling to remote place is the best feeling. Hiking the peak of mountain a feeling that you cant explain .
The choice of drone is on your style too and yes may come expensive to get started but after its not too bad until you get more drone 😂
Excellent Comparison Video and Information. Thank You Peter and Terry.
Grym video!
The cut at 9:09 is so satisfying 😢❤
Watching this made me realize it isnt about which one is better.. its that you need both so you can combine them both
The cinematic drone shot was just the calm before the storm
Fpv is just lit 🔥
Nice man, Nice....smooth footage. You fly is good. I'm not Manual Mode. I'm Auto mode with Dji Fpv + Avata 😢
Hey buddy, i love you & thanks for making this video, i really appreciate the type of videos you make & i also want to learn fpv but due lack of funding & resources, i end up watching videos of fpv drones from 2020-2023, i know it's of no use till I get a fpv with my simulator setup, just love watching these videos made by you, thanks for helping us..❤❤❤
The FPV waterfall reel was very slick.
This was a dope collab with Terry and those FPV shots look like Jurassic Park type shots lol I was waiting to see a dinosaur lol
👍👍👍
For years I always thought of FPV drones as super glued, short range, duct taped up pieces of sh*t. And alot of them are, but alot of them are really well oiled machines that have been meticulously put together. Mindfully. Piece by piece
Wow fantastisk video!
Pumped Pete and Tight shirt Terry! My new favorite duo
I love the Avata
I fly through houses every week!
I bought a mavic mini a couple of years ago, and im now moving into fpv, and ive just finished buying everything, i got a dji digital kit for under 1000usd
