Nicholi Rogatkin takes the @dutchdronegods to the most epic urban mountain bike race in the world with the challenge to capture an incredible FPV drone shot of Tomas Slavik racing the Red Bull Valparaiso Cerro Abajo 2022. Even with their unique skills, they will have to fly the drone blind in some parts of the track!

Its a really awesome shot, but its going to be a while before FPV replaces helicopter in many things, if it ever does, and its never going to replace cameras on rails etc. FPV to me seems more of an additional tool for insanely good cinematography in challenging locations than a replacement to anything else...

I wonder if the mic was on the rider as the drone sound would have been unusable. Or the whole thing was sample mixed audio?
@@burn4005 I think the mic is in the rider, you can notice almost at the end of the race, the drone gets very close to the rider and then you can listen the drone’s sound :)
Probably just the Soundtrack from the GoPro in the Rider, a little bit cleared up.

The shot is incredible but one thing no one is talking about is the amazing SOUND DESIGN! The well placed whooshes as trees and light poles fly by really make it immersive! Kudos 👏🏾

@@shadoninja not necessarily "fake". But it was probably recorded separately and then edited very precisely to match what's going in the frame. Anyway, I'm certainly no sound designer.

I’ve been watching these race videos for years now and the first person views were extraordinary. But this Friné chase footage just takes it to another extreme level showing not only the bikers wild skills. But the drone pilots maneuvering and following skills as well. Well done!

Here I was expecting this to be clickbait... but this is actually the most spectacular drone footage I've ever seen. It makes it clearer how insanely talented the rider is too.
I am a drone pilot and a sound engineer. The pilot is amazing! The sound design was killer. Of course the riding was stellar. Great job everyone!!!
Do you have any ideas on how they tackled the sound? I'm assuming they can just capture from the biker and that's how we can't hear the drone but I'm not 100% sure, then they sync it up with the drone footage and add wind effects?
@@saftymod I think it's a little bit of sound from the bike and mostly added sound effects

The perfect timing at 8:46 of the photorapher quickly getting in and out of the way of the drone in the blue house to get a shot is mind blowing

That was probably a fan sneaking in getting a shot, or extreme selfie by poking his head out as well, because it looks like a phone, and you need a fast shutter speed setting on your digital camera settings to not get motion blur in sports shots, so I'm not sure if the guy was an actual pro photographer or not, likely not

As an FPV drone pilot and MTB rider i really enjoyed this. It was an impressive accomplishment and i am very excited to see that big names like RedBull are recognizing the power of the fpv drones.

How fast and slow can a drone go?

@@vickieth6868 dude. Motorbiking is TOTALLY different then mountain biking. MotoGP and BMX racing require two completely different skill sets.
The double jeopardy in downhill in this tight urban environment makes this kind of activity incredibly dangerous. I’ve seen loads of IOM vids and interviews, and those guys are another species. However, on the route this chap took, who the hell is going to be able to give guidance notes? The walls are close, the terrain is unforgiving and the speed terminal. Your balls need to be just as big.

I'd take this shot over the Berlin. The cut cut of the Berlin shot kinda spoiled the true shine of FPV drones for me. FPV shots are epic when done in a single take.

I've been flying FPV since 2013 and let me tell you this is extremely amazing on so many levels. telephone wires are invisible when unsung analogue like he is. Any powerful wifi signal could mess up a 5.8 video link. Freaking awesome.

100h of practice, beginner stuff
It's quite strange that what is being filmed is as important as how that got filmed.
A documentary of how things are filmed without the fakes would be a video seen by millions if not billions. Why? The difficulty of getting things done is a feat on itself. The story behind the construction is always an interesting tale to tell.
yea cool and all, but it's not like we live in 2005 anymore, these guys had enough budget to put some antennas capable of relaying the signal along the path... But making the problem more difficult than it is is more profitable I guess.

The sound designer on this, is a hero too, it is not obvious when you watch it, but imagine the amount of drone noise there was in recording, most likely the whole sound you are hearing is not recorded on spot, but rather built from fragment of sound effects and samples.

You would be correct... All the sounds has to be added in or recorded separately or else you would hear the drone over everything.
The sound is from Tomas Slaviks GoPro. No sound design needed.
@@MineServersSKCZ You would hear nothing but the 2.5" props screaming at thousands of RPM's. That's all you hear on a drone. In the final clip you can hear the same whistle blowing at the same pitch all the way down. Also the volume level does not change when he flies up 30' to get the show of the turn. It's not a nock on the sound editor but it's what has to be done. They did a great job matching the peddling and roof sounds.

@@Noah_7s DJI FPV system has very bad latency when you go long range, and with analog, you can crank up the VTX power to 1W or 2W, which can't be done on DJI. Look at the folks who really push the range/penetration limits, you will see they all use analog for super long range.

This is so amazing! I was on vacation in Chile and had the chance to see this crazy race in this fantastic city! This footage is mind blowing, and since I build drones by myself, very inspiring too!
