- It's elves against orcs today, as the greenskins start poking their snouts around the borders of Knife-Earvania. We're going to be playing a lot of "Song of Blades and Heroes" in the coming weeks as my access to wargame supplies reaches critically low mass. To get you warmed up, we'll start with a really small encounter to familiarize you with the rules, then hit you with a full blown fight next time.

Would be interesting to see what would happen if the Elves waited and let the dice split the bad guys up - then the difference between the two would show how much a single point on the dice can make a significant difference.
Saying that though - it was a neat quick game. Just what you need some days 👍
Fun stuff.
I get the rolling dice for swinging a weapon and hitting or missing, but I don’t understand rolling dice to move. Like… the goblin tries to walk but fails over 50% of the time? Would it work to just assign a movement length stat, or does that mess up other mechanics? I’m a novice at this stuff.
Think of it more as a motivation check. Sure he CAN walk towards danger, but does he really WANT to?
Some guys - men of quality - are highly motivated. Some are not.
@@TheJoyofWargaming hahaha that kinda makes sense I guess
When far away from combat, units do get some standard free move instead of rolling.
Should the morale check be taken when the dead OUTNUMBER the living - not when equal?
That may be the advanced version - or my memory 😂
Nope, you are correct - when the dead outnumber the living.
Shouldn't the elves move long as they're mounted?
Not according to the rules as written. They have Free Disengage and can carry allied foot soldiers, which expands their use, but Move Long is a separate ability that I didn't purchase for these guys. I just used stats and points from the Army Lists at the back of the book.
