    I am just diving into this line of thinking after having Covid and already having so many problems with digestion pre Covid. I like how you aren’t just an echo chamber for low histamine diet, and I’m super excited to see you are in Chapel Hill, because I’m in Greensboro. Help feels out of reach so often, but you are just around the corner from me! Thanks for your educational but down to earth explanation. Dr. DiNezza, I singed up to be part of your next SIBO treatment group. I am looking forward to receiving your help. I’m pretty desperate after 10 years of SIBO relapse and remission. My current relapse has been just over one year. I have just completed Dr. Allison Siebecker’s elemental diet (12 days) and felt great. However, after adding in more food, I am back to perma-bloat. 😢My current plan is to literally do the elemental diet every few weeks since it;s the only way I can feel okay and not like absolute garbage. I know I’m not getting nutrients and I lose about 1 lb every other day when I’m on the diet, but there’s nothing else I can do… I’ve done it ALL. Anyway, your channel gives me hope because I know you know what you’re talking about. Can’t wait to work with you!

    Covid killed my gut last year and I now have daily hives. I was already taking supplements and probiotics and eating a healthy diet but I took the antihistamines - until they made the hives super bad and my life was absolutely miserable, so I quit them and eliminated gluten dairy and high histamine foods from my diet which helped but it isn’t the full cure as I’m still getting them daily, especially when I get hot from exercise. Your videos are much appreciated as I am going to take this to the next level and follow everything you recommend. …And I’m also going to be less mad at my body because you are helping me understand these complex systems and I understand from you that those mast cells mean well. Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge and wisdom.

    Anti-histamines are NOT a good idea long-term. They may help you on an occasional basis, because they make your cells resistant to absorbing histamine. HOWEVER, over the long-term they have the same effect insulin resistance does to insulin production. It INCREASES HISTAMINE PRODUCTION. You end up worse off than before. It can worsen asthma.

    • @gutmicrobiomequeen
      @gutmicrobiomequeen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Agreed. But in the short term they can help and buy you time to address your root causes. Also, not all a antihistamines are created equal. I would personally rather take Claritin over Benadryl, for example.

    One of the worst thing for me would be any kind of alcohol, i can drink only a sip, and 5 min later ill have a massive neck attack, that would lead to a headache, then a migraine, then 3 days more or less of inflammation… BUT! I wanted to try something, and i tried to drink, lets say, one beer per day, instead of a drink here and there on the weekend, and at first, drinking one beer per day, does exactly what i mention, headache, migraines etc, but if i pass that stage, and keep consuming (under strict rules), like at a precise hour, always the same amount of alcohol, always the same % of alcohol, like a beer or a cider, not stronger than 4 or 5%. Then, i have no headache, or inflammations… but if i stop for a couple of days, i have to go through all that process all over again.

This is some of the most annoyingly all over the place advice I've listened to, with so little of the video actually related to the title. Seriously. WFT. Dr. DiNezza's 19 minute video of "anti-histamine foods" lists one food and one spice with "Q" and "L" listed beneath those along with "vitamins and minerals" Jesus.

    I got to @15 mins and immediately went to the goobldygoo to see if the magnesium I've been taking has histamine affects, and it absolutley does. Incredible supplement, I highly recommend it specifically a water soluble form. Not only does it directly impact ones ability to tolerate histamine and soothe the digestive process, it gives me great nights sleep, eases the nervous system and helps me relax.
