I've been slowly transitioning my own machine to all ballscrew. This is IMHO the perfect design for 3d printing as far as my needs go. It might not go as fast as belt printers, but the accuracy can be dialed in perfectly. I use 3d printing to make molds. I don't need 100's of them fast, I need one of them and it needs to be dimensionally accurate.
How's the accuracy benefit compared to belt driven printer? Theoretically since the build quality looks more solid, it should be able to do a more precise movement; however since plastics in FDM is melted in open air, which could introduce thermal shrinkage/expansion, I'm not sure if the accuracy improvement worth the overkill rigidity.
I have a printer very similar to this one, except my Z axis is stationary and my gantry is flying. Otherwise, it is all screws and no belts. I like the fact that this one is a small printer compared to mine. I am very interested in your production model.
Is there a different build plate surface in the works? I just find it a little funny you are using Fystec spring steel PEI sheets that probably cost $40 max.
We like the beds because they work, and we go through them fast due to the amount we print. We are upgrading the heat bed from PCB to Alca5 though, for our production version.
@@PantheonDesign Okay that makes a lot of sense, thanks for the insight and clarification. The beefiness of your machine reminds me of EliteMachineWorks Ultimate XL. He uses like 16mm or 20mm rods on the Z axis.
The wobbly was because of the rubber feet on the bottom of the machine. We replaced them with hard rubber pucks and it's gone. The whole build zone wobbles as one so the precion is great.

I imagine the tool head can be swapped to do milling/routing?
that "Real time Video" seems kinda silly after you watch some vorons print 3minute benchies
Suped up v0.1s are epic though they kinda sound like their are dying when going sub5

I don't understand how the suspension works. It looks like the bed kinematics are floating but the XY is hard fixed to the frame.
It's not. XY is hard fixed to the main plate, same as the bed kinematics. The frame is just there to keep everything off the ground.
