The battle for AI dominance is here. OpenAI, Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Anthropic are neck and neck, each holding a slight edge in various aspects. However, they're all equally matched in the race. The real competition will start when one of these companies gains a significant advantage by creating something so extraordinary and unprecedented, way ahead of schedule, that it completely blindsides the others. This would be a groundbreaking, jaw-dropping innovation that defies what we previously thought possible. Such a breakthrough is likely when AI merges with quantum computing. While many tech enthusiasts have focused on AI, the potential of quantum computing hasn't received as much attention. Yet, the leaders in this field are fully aware of the immense potential that lies ahead. Historically, technological advancement has been exponential. We're on the brink of a technological revolution. The advancements we didn't expect for the next two hundred years could now occur in the next five. Mark my words!
Quantum computing is quite a ways out. Even when we figure out the basic physical challenges, that will have to be followed by implementation work. You may or may not be right about quantum, but I'd like to see one even approach its initial promise in any recognizable form before I start fantasizing about what they may be like together. We have absolutely no idea. And it may just be terrible and boring.

Why does cloud run still take so long to start up, why isn't google the market leader using firecracker vm technology for near instant start-up times. It just doesn't make sense. If the creator of lightweight containers can't get it right and lead the market with cost and cold start speeds then why would I trust or build on your cloud at all? You don't lead in anything cloud related. Neither does AWS for that matter.
It would be nice to have the ability to twist around showing the AI your surroundings a bit, so when you want to expand a picture at that location it could expand with real-world info.
In what way? Seems the new Gemini does everything GPT4o does but a bit better and with much more capacity... Was there anything OpenAI announced that is ahead?
The disappointing part of most of Google's announcements is in that you can't get hands on use of any of it until months later, and then it's Enterprise only, or they scrap it and give it another name and push it down the road. For a change, how about announcing a demo ready product like how chat gpt was ready to play around with.

And the idiots that are now in charge of Google, have finally gotten off their rear ends and tried to do something because of open AI. I'm telling you, that Google is going to dissolve into a Disney, or a Comcast... And the founders have no one to blame but their woke mindset and poor hiring decisions. 😥
all these advancements, yet they went backwards when it comes to basic functionality. when you search for a location it‘s impossible to get to google maps..
That's not true at all. OpenAI is clearly ahead of Google in some ways, but not 1.5 years. AI is advancing at an insane speed. It's ~2-3 months ahead. But Google isn't just attacking GPT-4o with Gemini Live and Astra, it's also attacking the new upcoming Siri with Gemini Nano and attacking Perplexity with the new Google Search. The OpenAI presentation was more mind-blowing but this presentation was very solid overall.
Naaaaa.... Google has contributed much more to the technology level of AI. They just have been way too geek and have never found someone like Steve jobs who understands technology and can sell it with fancy marketing skills!
Pricing should vary some people can't afford huge amounts ridiculous amounts they should be time base prices and weekly based prices and monthly based yearly months left based .
OpenAI 4o is much more interesting... that is i am sure what everyone is agreeing to... but Google AI is just not one single app, its an entire ecosystem. Google is integrating it across its board and while OpenAI has some really cool features, it will be used only on OpenAI where Google AI will stream across Android Devices, next-gen phones, next-gen consoles and more. Google should first up its game against OpenAI on how it manages to position itself as the premiere AI provider. With thousands of AI apps just popping up daily, OpenAI still is the definite AI tool. This is something Google is missing. However in a broad view, Google has nothing to fear with OpenAI. One suggestion though, Gemini should allow plugins from 3rd party developer directly to its platform, this is OpenAI, to me, is its biggest strength. I love how NVIDIA is partnering with Google for the AI GPU... wondering if next Xbox Console will be incorporating this GPU for the next level gaming console 🙂

However, when you look at the announcements made by Google and OpenAI in the last few days, Apple’s move to sign with OpenAI to bring Siri out of where she’s been forever and into the modern AI fight, they made an incredibly strong move. Apple needed something and they needed it quick. Even if this was a temporary partnership, it was incredibly strategic.
It will give them the time they need to catch up too.
Apple are in talks with Google to use Gemini
@@felipe367 Sources? Apples key argument for their phone wrt to Google is safety and privacy. I very much doubt that they can sell feeding any data into the Google Kraken to their customers atm.
I am just wondering, if Google was not here how we would have been.
You have forgotten one thing. Google was never the first to come up with anything
* Cloud
* Smartphone
* Browser
* Search engine
* TH-cam
But they are dominating because of their unique sense of innovation. Wait a watch before making too much unpredictable conclusions
This is just a reminder.
“Dad, can you help me with my homework?”
“Just use your phone, son.”
9:10 did they just do what Humane did, talking to buy some time for the AI to respond lol 😂
3:11 I’m all for language changing with usage but I’ve never understood the gravitation towards reading “4.7x” as “4.7 Ex” as opposed to “4.7 times”. I always understood the “x” to be the mathematical multiplication operator, not an actual “x”. To me, it’s an equivalent situation to read “5+” as “5 Tee” rather than “5 plus”.
meanwhile GPT4o was stunning... this looks so 3 days ago, such a gemini.
That's huge! Gemini era is now and forever
Google is so scared after that ChatGPT update
You must be joking google has been in this game for decades their deepmind AI is used in medical research and its way ahead of the general use AI.
lolz google is scared. really?
Chatgpt is a single app. Google have similar functionality and have built it across an entire ecosystem
@@josephdada2285the app is the ecosystem. That’s the whole point and why OpenAI’s superiority in AI is so dangerous to Google

have you seen the fever episode that was the introductory DJ session? I just casually noticed the live stream and thought it was a fake account.
I forgot who said it .... But something along the lines of "every company fails eventually" just think about AOL being the #1 website for years. Blockbuster.... Etc
Thankfully
Interesting announcements but we definitely need to put them to the test to see how they really compare. If the public gets access to Veo before Sora, that will also be relevant.
It's pretty amazing how AI is becoming such a big part of Facebook these days. I've been noticing all sorts of cool AI-powered features popping up, from personalized content recommendations to automated moderation. It's wild to think about how much is happening behind the scenes to make our scrolling experience smoother and more engaging
Fix Google Assistant first.
No need, they close Google Assistant and replays with new AI Assistant
They haven't even solve the high AF audio latency plate of android despite theres a API existing lol
Was this demonstration edited again?
its cut to key points i think, to skip silence, audience clapping and other ads.
Yes. Its re-edited by CNET for their channel where you're watching right now
That's not what he was asking last time Google straight up faked stuff he was asking whether this was real or not
@@indrajith747 ohh ok yeah that’s fair. I don’t know the answer. I hope it’s not edited like last time
I'm more excited about the new chatgpt, it looked more seamless
The glasses were not unveiled tho? eh?
what glass is she using?
It is an Astra prototype glass. Not consumer ready yet.
Could have done this in under 12 seconds. Fewer than 12 words even. Your live chat stream was hilarious BTW!
The real game changer is when the person presenting the AI developments is an AI himself
Why does OpenAi and Google seem to release the exact same things at the exact same time...
Not exact same time, OpenAI revealed first and will be available first
Open AI has swooped in twice to show off the day before Google twice now - dates that Google had advertised openly for some time beforehand. OpenAI is intentionally choosing to go head to head because they think (rightly, it seems) they have the better presentation.
@@Cyrribrae so they must have some super advanced AI that no one has ever made before that they grab its features from and slowely give them out to people when ever they have competition
CNET, wanna collab keep up the amazing work
It's funny because I think the Developer Keynote was significantly more interesting as a developer, given the changes to Firebase and their IDX cloud IDE
I wonder if they will let you use one ai/robot voice across all of their services. I prefer the voice I chose on Gemini over google search and maps.
The ending was so funny 😆 😂
I have learned a lot in Google than institute. It's always a king in search
Why is everyone wearing a galaxy watch and not a pixel watch
Cause the Presentation was over four hours long and Pixel Watch would've died two hours in.
Because it probably doesn't matter much as it isn't a hardware event.
because they dont like the pixel watch xD
5:06 pixel watch
It’s not a Samsung it’s a Polar! 🙄
Perfect example of how technology is not mutually exclusive whereas human capital management creates leverage.
This definitely is a huge step forward in mobile usage. That came out the day before OpenAI announced their new 4o model. The big difference is Gemini is included in the whole Google ecosystem which makes it huge for sure.I wonder how Apple is going to reply to that.
whats the glass that i see in 1:10? which smartglass is that?
Thank you. I enjoy my research with Google, despite my stupidity, but I feel happy with you
I like the part when they say "AI"
When will we see this ?
I can't believe they say to each other "Alright, everyone saw the news? OpenAI released a new version. It's our turn to step into the scenery."

Thought I'd never say this but...
...Google can't compete.
they were never able to compete tho, look at stadia
Whoa this looks way better then Open AI - eee Google Strikes again!
I am sorry but after chat gpt 4o.....it all looks atleast 2-3 years behind...
Keep in mind that AI is moving so fast that even though it feels 3 years behind, it's actually ~2 months behind at most.
It is actually about a day behind :)
In what way? Seems the new Gemini does everything GPT4o does but a bit better and with much more capacity... Was there anything OpenAI announced that is ahead?
@@electrodacus you and OP are real silent...
@@JoeLancaster I agree with your comment not with OP.
The disappointing part of most of Google's announcements is in that you can't get hands on use of any of it until months later, and then it's Enterprise only, or they scrap it and give it another name and push it down the road.
For a change, how about announcing a demo ready product like how chat gpt was ready to play around with.
Some seem to forget on what platform they are watching this. Google owns half the internet. The fact you don't realize that is the reason they make so much money. Apple will decide who is the chosen one. My stupid iPhone is waiting to get a real assistant.
Dw, Google Assistant is just as mid. I think we're upgrading at the same time here.
You are right, Google does own massive properties. This is all standing on the shoulders of the decisions that Eric Schmidt made. We wouldn't even have Android without him. And the idiots that are now in charge of Google, have finally gotten off their rear ends and tried to do something because of open AI. I'm telling you, that Google is going to dissolve into a Disney, or a Comcast... And the founders have no one to blame but their woke mindset and poor hiring decisions. 😥
I don't think I've ever used a feature that was announced at Io ever talk about android that's what everyone wants to hir
Now to wait a few days/weeks and find out which of these demos were "aspirational"
The revenue model it self is not in place and you do propogonda?
We will be doing gpt search to see wat is googling
all these advancements, yet they went backwards when it comes to basic functionality. when you search for a location it‘s impossible to get to google maps..
Hmm not sure why they focus on AI and not improvements to the overall products
coz it's Shiny lol
Cos Google is a software company....

Correction, most of those 1.5m developers have less than 5 years of on the job experience.
How do you know
7:25 Why did Google choose to use a Samsung phone for their demo😮
OpenAi is atleast 1.5 years ahead of google. Insane
DeepMind had just released AlphaFold 3. It's much more complex and useful think than writing emails and generating images or giving fart jokes.
I love it more when it's solve some complex maths problem ❤
AI is good in few things , but completely depending on it for each and every small thing is KILLING the human thinking and thought process.

Pricing should vary some people can't afford huge amounts ridiculous amounts they should be time base prices and weekly based prices and monthly based yearly months left based .
desperate response to OpenAI but let's see who will develop and allow text to video for public.
5:05 That poor record...
This was the most boring I/O ever
Word. Companies are praising AI like it's going to shape our future in a position-only way. The drawbacks are scary!!! Next generations will have the weakest minds in the entire human existence. Robots are going to replace us! Not looking good…

I agree, they should have called it Gemini I/O
Because they chose to pour a lot of money into dividends instead of developing this event or AI..
One question: why they are wearing Samsung Galaxy Watches instead of Google Pixel Watch? :)
Cause Google teamed up with Samsung for Android Wear.
So This is The Beginning of SkyNet scary
Indeed. Consider that these corporate AI's will be ratting you out to their corporate master about everything you do, down to the minutest minutiae. There is nothing 'free' here: it is a corporate grab for the very core of your personality,
An AI assistant is awesomely cool, providing it is on your side, and to that end, consider looking for independent companies in which the AI is created outside the grasp of corporate giants. For sure, you'll have to pay out of pocket, but the AI will be yours, not a corporate tattletale.
Open AI may be more powerful and capable, but the convenience a foundation model being built into an OS offers is phenomenal. Excited to see the AI race continue
Yawn. Google is so uninspired these days.
Better find inspiration in yourself
How about you? Show me what have you built?

funny how Pixel phones are used in these demos but the execs mostly use iphones for day to day. The Pixel interfaces are getting worse, feedbacks not getting implemented, and there are many open issues with pixel 8 pro. It's a mess in the Pixel team.
