This is a bit more opinion based than most of my other videos. I wanted to change it up a bit and give my thoughts on some things rather than just explaining things. Hope you guys enjoy!
They also cut the part where Kreacher already became fond of Harry. I just love that moment. And the time he faught in the Battle of Hogwarts in the name of his master. Made me cry.
Yeah, that's one of my favourite moments! Plus, Trelawney hurling crystal balls at Death Eaters. If you remember those two characters' stories, it makes so much sense, adds something new and makes you love them. It's bizarre, hilarious, surreal, touching, impressive - all of that at the same time... Those are wonderful moments, great endings to stories of two characters.
I loved it too but it probably would've come across as a bit comedic and the movies did a really good job of making the battle of Hogwarts brutal (in my opinion)
The one scene that was totally necessary to the story was when Dudley said, "I don't think you are a waste of space", that completed the Harry and Dudley story. It humanized Dudley and the movie completely blew it. This snafu was also noted when the part where Harry's aunt said," I lost a sister", was cut from the movie this scene was also necessary to complete the Dursley's part of the story. In both cases the book far out classed the movie.
so weird that they cut dobby from half the films, it made his death less sad. he was calling the golden trio his “best friends” when they hadn’t seen each other in 6 years lol
And the funny thing is he never interacted with Ron or Hermione in Chamber of Secrets and reffered to them as best friends and good to see you again lol
a lot of it would probably have been up to the cgi budget per film. I'd imagine it was pretty expensive to add in dobby (i read somewhere that doing the lighting for him and the other houselves was a menace), but I still wish that he appeared more
I love how people were so rude about the ravenclaw crest despite that they *haven't read the books* and come to the assumption that they know everything bc they watched the movies.
Not everybody can read, so atleast give them the benefit of the doubt, the movie version is the only version they've seen since Philosophers stone movie and it's been 18 years so your kind of fighting a pretty much done battle
HARRY !!!!!! DID!!!!!! YOU!!!!!! PUT!!!!! YOUR !!!!!NAME!!!!!! IN!!!!!!! THE!!!!!! GOBLET!!!!!!! OF !!!!!!! FIRE !!!!!!!!!! Dumbledore said *C A L M L Y*
I think the worst thing they did was hire Steve Kloves. He gave a lot of Ron's best moments to Hermione, and made Ron look like a clueless comedian. I just finished reading the third book, and I was shocked at Ron's heroism, especially when HE was the one who shouted "If you want to kill Harry, you'll have to kill us too!" And, he said that with a broken leg! THAT was real courage!
No, ron is actually super important. If you read the books you would know that. I’ll explain why. So basically, since both hermione and harry grew up never knowing about the magical world, Ron is the only member of the golden trio who has know all his life. So while hermione has read lots of books about the wizarding world since she first found out she was a witch, Ron knows how the world really works. Like, for example, in the second book, when Malfoy called hermione a mud blood, in the films she already knew what that meant, but in the books Ron knew while both hermione and harry didn’t. He also knows about pure bloods, half-bloods, and muggle born and how some pure blood families see muggle borns as lesser. And so while hermione is book smart, Ron is street smart
@@lillyp.7943 yep, the directors had no idea what to do with her. Would've loved to see Ginny playing Quidditch and showing how much of a badass she really is
Ron is already an underrated character, and they ruined his layered charcter in movies and made him just a comic relief. Especially in prisoner of azkaban, all of Ron's brave and good line were given to hermione. And that "page 394" scene specially pisses me off, in the book Ron stand up for hermione against snape which also earned him detention, in the movies however when snape called hermione "an insufferable know it all" , Ron said "he is got point you know", like seriously! And can't even count how many time they have done this!!
Also one touching scene at the end of Order of Phoenix: when Harry went to Nick the ghost to ask him about dead people and wishing he could see Sirius again even in a ghost form, heartbreaking. Sirius' death was minimize!
Not revealing that Kreacher was forced to go with Regulus Black to fetch the locket in the cave. I wonder why they skipped that fact in the film, i think it was an important part of Kreacher's story Also Jose Synonymous reminded me (i quote his exact words) that Regulus could have saved himself by forcing Kreacher to drink the potion a second time, but instead, chose to do it himself, thereby allowing Kreacher to escape while sacrificing himself. This was completely skipped in the film.
Alex: Books and film adaptations based upon books are two different art forms, and there is never going to be satisfaction by readers of books when they see their favorite books turned into films because filmmakers must cut down the story and they must show it visually. The rules of plays and of drama dictate over the novel format and that means changes must be made to create a decent film.
That's not how I remember it from the books. Regulus could have saved himself by forcing Kreacher to drink the potion a second time, but instead chose to do it himself, thereby allowing Kreacher to getaway while sacrificing himself.
My problem is, Regulus need not have died at all. He could have just ordered Kreature to take him back home. (And he could have done it,like Dobby did)
My biggest disappointments: -No Peeves -No talk about the Marauders (that was a HUGE part of the 3rd book!) -No final battle in Half Blood Prince -Lots of fighting cut out of Deathly Hallows Part 2 -Many of Voldemort's memories cut in HBP -LOTS of Snape's worst memory cut, and a lot of his memories from the final film cut
elephant35e I haven’t read the books, but I recently learned after *years* what the *marauders map* is and why it says *Moony, wormtail, padfoot, and prongs* and it makes so much sense?? They could make a whole new movie about this!
I was pretty sad when they didn’t add that kreacher became nice when Harry started being nice to him. I thought that was awesome in the book it was one of my favorite parts and when all the house elf’s came down and helped with the fight I was sad that wasn’t in it.
The only thing I can assume from cutting Dobby from so much of the series is that the CGI was too difficult or too expensive since 2 of the 4 directors didn't use him at all and the third only used him in DH.
My Grandma came in when I was reading that part. I was bawling. She said "all this crying over a dead book character? I hope people cry like that for me when I go..." I told her they definitely would. My Grandma is a badass, a widowed nurse who raised 4 boys alone. But, I know when she goes I'll be thinking of Dumbledore as well.
@@groot8950 there was definitely not, they just show the trio at the bell tower saying hopeful things and then the phoenix flies across and that's the end
Yeah I agree with you on this one. They could have split them into 2 movies per book to fully develop the story and characters. It would have been a big risk financially at first but there was enough HP book fans to justify it and Christopher Columbus did a fantastic job introducing the world and it's characters in the first film. They extra time would have given them all more to explore and enchant us with. If executed well it could have worked.
Liza Johnson just because people actually enjoy to read, or watch long movies, doesn’t mean you have to say they’re lying. Just cuz you wouldn’t doesn’t mean others wouldn’t.
Doubling the budgets and doubling the time spent on making the series would have been insanely impractical from a logistical standpoint, not only that, but slicing each book in half in most cases would be unsatisfying without any real closure at the end of the first parts
One thing I hated about the movie is Voldemort's death. His death in the novel is a nice piece of symbolism since it gives the big villain and wizard lovechild of Hitler and the Bogeyman the worse death he can ask for: a man's death. He didn't dissapear into the ether, he didn't burn into a blaze of glory; he died surrounded by people who realized that for how much of an inhuman apparance, no matter how dreaded he is, in the end, he is still a sad, pathetic, mortal man. While in the movie, they had him dissapear into ashes, ignoring the symbolism if his death on the novel and ruining one of the themes of the series.
He wasn t mortal at the beginning of the movie,. He was mortalized by harry s killing of the horcruxes. If you know anything about good and intelligent villains, he wasnt pathetic. Such a view black and white view is purely driven by emotion.
I actually get both ways of dying tho. On the book side, having his dead body being there, would be similar to many other tales: making an assumed immortal god bleed, with his dead body being proof of that. However, you already can get that from the point where he is actually defeated and there are other slight issues with that version of death. Sure, its symbolic, but just because its symbolic doesnt mean it makes sense with the rest of the information given. On the movie side, we're talking about a person who has split his very own soul 8 times(once unintentionally) and someone who can never go to the afterlife, nor can he become a ghost. Someone who destroyed his own soul so much that he no longer has any option. When someone dies, they can latch on to life and become a ghost while others will embrace death. Voldemort definitely was someone who would have latched on living and would have become a ghost, but he couldnt. His own being was so unstable and disruptive that it literally destroyed him. So even though I agree having a voldemort corpse would be a shock to all death eaters, having him practically vaporize due to his own actions makes a lot more sense. Ghosts would have a body to leave from, people who go on to the afterlife technically have a choice to go back to their old body if they happen to have something allowing them to return or move on into the afterlife, let alone that the ressurection stone requires an existing death to return. Voldemort had neither of those options, so him having still a physical body for the endresult doesnt make too much sense. I mean, what if there was a necromancer who wanted to reanimate Voldemort himself? With a body, a necromancer should be able to. But you also need someone being actually fully dead to be able to ressurect them, and Voldemort isnt dead, he is pretty much erased from existance.
He really gave her hell tho 😂 i loved peeves and i kinda forget he is there becuz he isn't in the movies... when i read the books I'm like; Ohh wait, Peeves is a thing in Harry Potter!!!
@@joelouise2009 He’s a poltergeist-the physical manifestation of the centuries of mischief students got up to. His sole purpose in the books is comic relief, the story loses nothing what so ever from his absence but book elitists like to pretend he’s some major important character integral to the narrative when it doesn’t matter he wasn’t in the films as all we lost is some Hogwarts atmosphere.
Ironically, the Half-Blood Prince is my favorite book in the series and my least favorite movie in the series. But that boy who played teenage Tom Riddle in the memory scenes was hauntingly brilliant and so was Tom Felton!
i remember how much i adored half-blood prince and harry just suddenly acing potions via the book etc, and trying to find out who that cool prince was, while the movie is like: btw harry is good at potions. lol it's snape!
Last movie, Lily having brown eyes in the flashback, Harry having his big blue eyes. You have your mother eyes Harry. This bother me more than it should.
I remember in the book it said that both Lily and Harry have green eyes. I know that they tried to make Daniel Radcliffe wear color contacts at first. But in the end I'm glad they kept his natural color eyes. I didn't know that the actress who played Lily had brown eyes.
Tonks. Deathly Hallows importance. Rons good qualities (in the films he is kinda just around) Hermiones flaws (characters are better with flaws) Percy Weasleys story (he is a minor character but seeing the weasleys and rons reactions to his decisions, even briefly, would have added some needed dimension to them. they take the time to show him but he never says a word that you'd have to know the books to notice. Family member turned enemy is good drama that would have worked for film drama showing Nevilles Parents. Show don't tell. His parents are really important to him and to knowing how bad Bellatrix is. they set it up in film 4 and then just expositioned it in 5. Show what they became and show Neville with them. That would have been very good.
O'Malley Caboose 5 And Ginny. In the books she was this badass character and it made sense that Harry fell for her, especially because they seem to have the same interests. In the movies, well, she‘s just some shy girl that never says anything and is just ... there
The thing that bothered me most about the movies was that they changed the Hermione at Malfoy Manor scene! In the books she was really brutally tortured with the Cruciatus for a long time, and the whole time in the cellar Ron was losing his mind, screaming her name and unable to get a grip. It showed their relationship really well and gave evidence to Ron’s loyalty and love that the movies really ignored in favor of seeing him as comic relief. The way they did it (with the Mudblood carving into her arm) was definitely intense and I get that the actors were too uncomfortable to film much more of the scene (as well as the fact that they said it was a little too scary for the PG-13 rating) but I feel like they still could have adjusted it so that it was more accurate. Also with the fight in the 5th book - they don’t talk about how it made Umbridge steal Harry, Fred and George’s brooms and give Harry a “lifetime ban” on Quidditch. It annoyed me that they didn’t put this one in when it made it clear that Umbridge took power over the whole school and every teacher’s wishes, and gave this desperation to Harry that made him not question the false vision of Sirius in the ministry (because it proved he had lost everything and showed how all of the terrible stuff that had happened that year was taking the last bits of hope and happiness from him).
1. They so ruined Ginny in the movies They made her look shy, awkward, weird In the books she was so strong, bold, amazing, confident, and a determined person and they didn't even showed that in the films 2.They also ruined HarryXGinny in the films. I think the movie producers, directors, and writers more liked Harry and Hermione so thats what also made fans hate the idea of Hinny 3. I just think that most HP fans know the movie instead of the book like my Potterhead friends they have never read the books (Even though im just a beginner and only 11 yrs old i can say i more like the books) (When ever i also watch a movie it felt boring and not much putted into it not like the books that has every nook and cranny of information) But i am not saying that i hate the films i just more like the boos
Like I'm so mad. You want Harry to throw away that stupid wand? Ok, do it, but let him fix his first! It's like 10 seconds of screen time! And it's so cute!
Let me explain about the wand. Ok, so I understand that Harry didn’t fix his wand but if you put it in Dumbledores tomb it can be stolen AGAIN, as VoLdY stole it 1 time before And if he is simply dissarmed whoever disarmed him they are now the master of the elder wand, and if we count the cursed child Delphi disarms Harry, so she is now the master of the elder wand. If you break it, you can’t use it anymore. I wish that Harry had repaired his wand in the movie though?
What bothers me is the absolute assassination of Ron's character in the films, and the perfection of Hermione's. She's way too perfect in the films and Ron is reduced to an idiot
True, I was annoyed at her for SPEW but that made her imperfect which made her more real! Ron was made worse in the movies and I wish they didn’t give his line to Hermione in The Prisoner of Azkaban.
Movie makers: the sixth part has to less action. Let's add a scene which makes no sense. Also movie makers: let's cut out most of the action in the last scene
ultimata exactly!!! They purposefully took the battle of the astronomy tower out of the film, just to think there wasn’t enough action so instead of just, um AdDinG tHe BaTtLe BacK iN, they added a terrible scene where the death eaters attack the burrows 😂👍
@@dhruvtomar3722 Nope - that protection only works when Harry is in the same home as his mother's blood (i.e. with Aunt Petunia). It doesn't work at the Burrow; that's only got standard magical defences, and if Bellatrix can get past those, so can Voldemort. Voldemort wants more than anything to kill Harry - if he has an opportunity to do so, he'll take it; he's not going to just send a Death Eater to intimidate him.
The third movie did no justice to Sirius. The book covered a few chapters just to explain Sirius’ side and on the movie, the scene where harry learned about Sirius’ innocence barely lasted a few minutes🤦🏻♀️ like it broke my heart so much😢 Siruis was one of the most important charcater of the 3rd book!
Ron & Hermione be like: Nah, Harry faced You-Know-Who by himself three years earlier, a dragon's nothing for ''em Harry be like: rOn!! hErMiOnEEE!!! dUbBLleDorEEE!!! wHerEE r UUU!!!!!
@Top Lobster HBO seemed to do great with the first 4 seasons of GOT. The only reason seasons 5 to 8 were good to horrible was because they ran out of material to adapt and didn't want to wait for more material
Personally the films made Ginny Weasley look so cringe, and begging for Harry’s attention. Whereas in the books she was totally opposite. She was fierce and confident. Also the films missed out so many things, soooo many. There was such a deep story to be told in the books and the film is just BLAH.
Its seems like they left out a ton of growth for other characters to focus more on Harry. Its been a while since ive read the books so i dont remember a whole lot. But Ginny was heavily under used in the movies and in HBP she was pretty much screwed right over. Was her time to shine and they just shoved her to the side to show more of Harry becoming a wizard. Which they did a lot in the films, focused to much on one side of Harrys story
I just reread in OotP where Ginny is now dating some other guy after giving up on Harry and NOW is starting to shine as a confident assuring young woman. It's much better than the movie Ginny.
they just released a new harry potter film last year. its a spinoff but its part of the universe. That is the current going harry potter series. its called Fantastic Beasts
Sirius joining his little brother. The Black brothers reunited as a family once again. If Sirius were alive and knew the truth about his brother, He will carry the guilt for the rest of his life for not loving and caring for his brother when he was young and understanding why his brother is what he is. Sirius loved Regulus I am sure of it. The brothers have an unbreakable bond of love like the Weasley Twins.
That scene with nevilles parents should have been added it was rly powerful and would help understand his character and why him being so brave in the final battle so much more impressive
2 things I wanted to see in the movies : how dumbledore got Gaunt's ring. Also, seeing Harry getting mad at Dumbledore at the end of Order of Phoenix and them having a long conversation, in the book this scene was so intense and important!
No I'm not dyslexic.. I just can't sit down and read a book, it just isn't for me. If you ever wanted to go trough the books with me and tell me everything I'd enjoy that, as for reading it's a no from me.
Don't forget about Ketcher becoming kind. That was such a huge moment in the books. Seeing him change sides. By the way I personally like the way the movies portrayed snapes grief at the end better. It is way more heartbreaking seeing snape holding lily's dead body and crying, than him just crying over half a note.
It was so sad, Kreacher making a home for Harry, Ron and Hermione, then being abandoned when they had to go on the run. I can't remember if they showed him leading house elves in the battle of Hogwarts, against the Death Eaters.
@@dutchshark1580 yeah but i wish they added the 2 major ginny scenes in order of the phoenix the one after ginny confront him about hiding from them and explaining to him he was not possessed an the library scene at easter when she helped him talk to sirius
It was a really stupid move by Chris Columbus from the start... he should have just made it so people take on the voice of those they change into. The later films could have retconned that scene by saying they didn't get the potion quite right being 2nd year students, so they didn't get Crabbe and Goyle's voices, only their appearances.
@@nahor88 I read somewhere that it was a way in which the audience was able to tell which character was which (at least for DH) cause yeah CoS really did force them to change their voices and everything. Made no sense. But it would at least explain how Crouch was convincing. Idk if that's the canon explanation or just a theory, but makes me think at least.
The third book is my favorite, so I'm most upset that the movie left out the fact that James and his friends wrote the Marauders Map. The movie had several opportunities to offer that key piece of info, especially when Lupin toward the end says the map never lies. The movie gives no explanation for why he would know the map never lies. And then because that movie leaves out details, the fifth movie has to compensate by having Harry call Sirius Padfoot to set up a line later when Harry gives Snape a clue about Sirius being in trouble without letting Umbridge know what he's talking about. It's just a big mess and all could have been avoided by a simple explanation. But no, they had to take up 20 seconds of screen time with a bird flying over the grounds before getting killed by the Whomping Willow.
Also, when Harry (or Ron or Hermione) says that "Ohh so it was (Lupin) who made the shrieking shack haunted" Lupin says something like, "No, it wasn't me myself, it was haunted before.." That really left me confised until I read the books again
I miss the part in Deathly Hallows book were Harry uses his invisible cloak and dissapeared only for appearing later in front of Voldemort, and the words he said to him before Voldemort died were just amazing. Its sad that they didn't include those scenes...
That's the part I was most excited to see on film. Its why I can't stand Deathly Hallows pt2. It being the ending, kills the rewatch value for the whole series
@@kevinuribe318 it's basically the same except the very last part. Voldemort and Harry don't magic duel like in the movie, once he revealed himself and everyone else was subdued, and his horcrouxes were destroyed (Neville destroyed the snake right when he pulled the sword in the book, not right at the end), Harry basically just explained why he survived and what Voldemort did wrong, why he lost. Voldemort got pissed and tried to use the killing curse again, but just like Harry said it would, it rebounded again and killed Voldemort, this time with no backup plans on hand. He dies just like a normal person, because in the end that's what he was. Just a very powerful person. He wasn't special. Not a god like he wanted to believe. Just a man. I understand what the movies were doing, and I actually really like alot of it. I like that Neville killed the snake to save Ron and Hermoine instead of right away, giving him that moment was very warranted. They cut some of his scenes away, and they never really mention in the movies that the prophecy actually involved him as well, as he could have been the child being talked about in it. So giving him that was definitely worth it to me. Honestly the only thing I would have wanted them to keep was that very last part of Voldemort dying the way he did. It solidified the entire point of the battle, that Voldemort wasn't as immortal and godly as he thought, that he was just a man, and fallible. But I forgave the movie because I got what they were trying to do by having him fade away after the last horcroux was destroyed, that was their way of visually showing his lack of "importance" in that once his contingencies were gone, he just went away. No extra needed. I was OK with that
@@Bakuru but Voldemort died so inhumanely, it actually makes him seem like more than a normal human in the movies which is opposite of the message JK was conveying…
Voldemorts death: Book: "Tom Riddle hit the floor with a mundane finality, his body feeble and shrunken, the white hands empty, the snake-like face vacant and unknowing." Look what they did in the films. There are so many important things that are wrong in the films...
Difference 1: Ron and Hermione's relationship in the book is healthy and loving progressing from admiration and friendship to love organically, with growth for both Characters. In the film Ron is demoted to dumb and comic relief and Hermione's flaws are not shown as something Ron finds charming outside of film 1 totally unbalancing the relationship.
@@cjd5235 Well, to be honest, it's pretty tense at times, but who hasn't had tense relationships as a teenager? :-) And otherwise, I totally agree! This is one of the main flaws of the movies for me, too. They have so many endearing moments, so many real abilities and flaws that complement each other, so much fun together in the books, almost none of which is shown in the films. For some reason, I also very much resent the fact that Hermione is the one who has the idea about using the dragon to escape from Gringotts. In the books, it's Harry - he's the one who does most of the quick thinking in the trio, not Hermione.
3 things (that aren’t that big but I am just a *little* nit picky about) that the movies changed. #1 Tonks and Lupins’s love story. In the book when Harry arrives at the burrow Tonks is there and that’s when he first sees her depressed. Her hair is brown and she seems really sad. Later in the day Harry asks Ginny, Hermione, and Ron why. The say that ever sense The Battle of the Department of Mysteries she’s been like that, and has even had trouble with her ability (to change her appearance at will). Then when Harry gets to Hogwarts his nose is broken by Malfoy. Then in the books Tonks comes in the train and finds him. She fixes his nose and then casts her patronus in the sky. (Which at this time is a Wolf). After Harry gets to the Hogwarts grounds Snape tells Tonks “I am quite interested to see your new patronus. I like the old one better, this one looks weak.” This is where you learn her patronus changed. Fast forward to Christmas. Harry is at the burrow and talks to Lupin about morphing patronuses. He says that a patronus shape can change due to shock and/or strong emotion. This leads Harry to think that Tonks had been in love with Sirius and was devastated by his death. He tells Ron and Hermione when they get back to school and they tell him that that is absurd. After The Battle of the Astronomy Tower everyone is in the hospital wing. It is here you learn that Bill has been attacked by Greyback. Fleur still says that she wants to marry Bill even though he has been bitten. Tonks then says this to Lupin, “You see! She still wants to marry him, even though he has been bitten! She doesn’t care!” Lupin replies by telling her that he is too old for her, too poor, and too dangerous. Everyone then starts arguing with Remus about how he is being ridiculous. But in Deathly Hallows we learn that someone (whom I believe to be Mrs. Weasley) has convinced him and we learned that they are married. #2 Agragog’s burial Harry and Slughorn go to Hagrid’s hut to attend his giant spider’s burial. There, Slughorn is sympathetic. He acts like he is mourning Aragog’s death, when really he is collecting venom. After that he pretends to still mourn. Then they go inside and drink. Harry eventually gets the memories buy telling him about Lily Which then gets him to cry and (reluctantly) give Harry the memories. #3 How to get passed the Womping Willow Harry, Ron, and Hermione are coming back after visiting Hagrid before Buckbeak’s execution. They are all under the invisibility cloak and are heading back when Scabbers bits Ron’s finger and tries to escape. He runs by the Womping Willow and Ron, Harry, and Hermione run after him. There they see Sirius in his Animangus form and he drags Ron into the tree. Harry and Hermione are so panicked and confused that they forget the Are by the Womping Willow. They get hit multiple times until Crookshanks presses a knot on the tree, which then freezes it. I am so crazy.
i had to google what Malfoy actually said to them that provoked them to do that. Wow he was so much more of an asshat in the books than the movies. no filter at all
I agree, but that would take, risking bad consequences to the movie, by adding such bad words and so much violence... at least we have Sirius punching Lucius at the Battle of the Ministry, which wasn't in the books (the dude on the video forgot to mention this)
Book: "Harry did you put your name in the goblet?" Dumbledore said calmly. MOVIE: "hArRy pOtTeR! hArRy dId yOu pUt yOuR nAmE iN tHe gObLeT!? DID YOU ?!!!!!!" Sorry i will never be able to get over that aha
The one that makes me so mad and i don't even know why is that the kitchen house elves and non existent in the movies and S.P.E.W. also doesn't exist. The other one is ron and hermione's kiss lol i just loved it
I’m totally fine with them leaving out SPEW. When I started reading the GoF and saw that hermione was super concerned about house elf rights I was like ???? It really seemed to make very little sense in terms of moving the plot forward. But it’s a great way to build upon the world. Something best explored in a book than a movie I’d say
I got annoyed because 99% of the time it didn't tell/show any part of the story/plot in a better way than the books (for instance, if they managed to combine important info from three scenes into one), and because they left out SO MANY important and interesting/fun things in order to include pointless new scenes.
I cannot express how much i love this channel. As much as the books themselves. This channel is my absolute favourite. I have so much love and respect for the creator ♥️ may you grow and keep showering us with many more absolutely awesome videos
Molly: if i get one more owl telling me you've blown up a toilet or- Fred: Blown up a toilet? We've never blown up a toilet - Great Idea thx mum! *ginny cries* Fred: Don't worry ginny, we'll send you loads of owls! George: We'll send you a Hogwarts toilet seat! Molly: George!
The thing I missed the most in the movies was Percy's story and his reaction to Fred dying. Fred accepting him back and dying afterwards is such a powerful moment and I hated how it was reduced to just him taking avada kadavra to the chest. I understand why it's not there but it would've been amazing to see the entire story in the movies.
Just like the scene with Dudley saying Harry wasn't a waste of space, Petunia (in Order of the Phoenix just after Harry and Dudley are attacked by dementors) telling Vernon that dementors are the guards of Azkaban and her shock at hearing Voldemort was back was also a vital scene as "for the very first time in his life, Harry fully appreciated that Aunt Petunia was his mother’s sister".
Ok I’ve read the books and watched the movies multiple times. Every time I watch the scene in hbp of the burrow being destroyed I wonder how on earth I could forget an entire scene. And then I wonder why I don’t remember them fixing a burned down home entirely in about 7 ish months for bill and fleur’s wedding. It did not occur to me that it was just an added scene. For years. I think I’m an idiot.
Same for the eragon movie...what a waste because the second and third books especially were way better than the first for me but won't have a movie because of the shitty first film...
THANK YOU! As a Ravenclaw, it’s always bothered me that they use a raven instead of an eagle when the books say it so many times. I do buy the merchandise, but only out of house pride!
The scene in Order of the Phoenix when they try to arrest Hagrid and then McGonagal (sry might have spelled that wrong) comes to defend him is so powerful and gives me chills whenever I read it. All gone in the movies.
i think for that they would have needed to add the whole scene with the exams so they had a reason to watch mc gonagall and sometimes it's just in perspective of the whole work and setting to much for a little detail.
Yes and Harry and others were having astronomy exam of OWL and they were repeatedly told not to get distracted by the duel of the teachers down the ground cause everything was visible to them. At the end the teacher was also distracted by the fight. That's an important scene because after this the hatred of the whole class increased for a number of times for Umbridge. Book readers will hate her more lol
I could live with them leaving out S.P.E.W. initially (because I understood the time constraints), but two of my FAVOURITE parts about the end of the 7th book are when Ron's the one who remembers about the Hogwarts house elves - to evacuate, not to fight (which leads to The Kiss) - and when all the house elves launch themselves into the battle. Neither of which appeared, and greatly diminished my enjoyment. And it really added so much depth and complexity about the whole wizarding world - how wizards treated other species and therefore why the goblins didn't like wizards, why Umbridge loves the Voldemort era and oppressing the non-humans etc. etc. So in the end, yes, I agree that it's a big disappointment that the ongoing house elves subplot was absent.
One thing they got right to leave out, didn’t really effect the main plot in any way, even Ron and Harry kept saying it was irrelevant. Didn’t need it in the movie compared to other important stuff they left out.
I figure he could have fixed his old wand and only then snapped the Elder Wand. That would have closed so many potential plot holes given Harry's choice of career. After all, if you go by the books and you consider the piece of utter garbage that is the Cursed Child to be part of the cannon, then Voldemort's "daughter" is now the master of the Elder Wand.
@@button.house101 I guess sort of, Gryffindor's symbol is a lion, and a Griffon (I believe) is a mix of lion and eagle (Back half lion, front half eagle), so it would kind of fit...
@@hyperion8431 I still think ravenclaws symbol should be a raven. Not just because of the name but because ravens are very intelligent birds, they can backstab people and hold grudges, not scared to be themselves and come of as a little odd. They are known as very very wise creatures so you can see how they fit it quits nicely.
Honestly, i am a great fan of the first two movies. The remaining make me so mad with all the alterations and omissions. And I won't tolerate the excuse of time shortage because THEY HAD TIME TO ADD NONSENSICAL SCENES like voldy hugging draco, Ginny tying Harry's shoelaces, the burrow burning down and others. It makes me so mad
I agree with you that the movie ruined Gindawad 's redemption. He never betrayed the secret of the location of the elder wand. This was a great video, and I really enjoyed it.
My friend told me about ravenclaw’s crest the same way you defined it. It helped me realize how much sense as well as the qualities the eagle embodies: wisdom and independence, etc. Thank you for mentioning the best fight in the series. I wish they included it because it was freaking hysterical in the books.
8:14 “snape was one of the teachers protecting the stone” This is actually true in the movie, this is because Snape went after Quirrell and the 3rd floor to ensure that the stone wasn’t taken when he burst into the great hall saying that the troll left the dungeon, he may have not protected the stone like the other professors (mcgonangol, flitwick, sprout and dumbledore) but he still did.
I loved Ron and Hermione in the books so much more. The dynamic between themselves and also with Harry was literally one of my favorite parts of reading the series. In the movies, Hermione is a little more annoying and Ron is... just there.
3:45 What you are saying here, that it was genious to give Neville the role of providing Harry the Gillyweed, is indeed true. However, this wasn't all made up by the people who wrote the movie-scripts. Moody told Harry in the book he had given that book about waterplants to Neville so that he could inform Harry about the Gillyweed. But Harry wanted to do it alone so bad that he didn't even ask Neville. It was a great way to cut Dobby out of the film, but it still followed the book to a certain point.
What they did to our (Ravenclaw's) crest is terrible! It's impossible to find any accurate merchandise, and since so many people have only seen the movies they get it all wrong! It annoys me very much, so thank you for mentioning it in this video and doing it justice! It's a matter of ignorance that the filmmakers didn't look into J.K. Rowling's reasoning.
This is insane, the book crest was so deeply ingrained in my mind that I never noticed the raven in the movies, I NEVER really paid attention because I knew it was an eagle. This just blew my mind now, whoa
I hated how in "Deathly Hollows 2- the movie" - Neville never got credit for finding out that Nagini was a horcrux, in the movies basically everyone knows after Harry told them ???? and its just messed up, cause Neville could have been the chosen one as well and it was a very important piece of information, that he found out Nagini was a horcrux and that he killed her. And not in the batttle but around Voldemort´s neck.
Yeah lol the wizarding world is actually pretty tiny! In all of the UK, there are only ~20 boys Harry's year... Like 80% of the kids in his generation are either related to a Death Eater or a member of the Order... Harry himself happens to be a descendant of the Peverells... So 20 people definitely qualifies as a battle for their population.
My only issue with “The Prince’s Tale” in the final movie is that it implies that Snape was in Godric’s Hollow first on that faithful Halloween night when we know it’s Hagrid who rescued Harry from there... just made things super confusing.
I think snape rushed to see lily's body before hagrid got there (apparition vs a motorbike, he could easily get there before him, I think), and disapparated, leaving harry, since he knew someone would get there via dumbledore's orders (and most people wouldn't take too kindly to him at that point)
8:00 I have been thinking about that too, since I recently rewarched all movies. Got to say it also kinda nice hermioni staying behind with him, instead of leaving him alone
This is a bit more opinion based than most of my other videos. I wanted to change it up a bit and give my thoughts on some things rather than just explaining things. Hope you guys enjoy!

I really would have enjoyed seeing Kreacher hit Mundungus Fletcher with a frying pan.
It made me furious to see them not put in so many parts of the books
Lian Socorro this because that and they really didn’t the house elf’s the respects they deserved.

Exactly 💯
Ron was ultimately not important that’s why his role was cut in the movies
@@thebadguychinli4011 actually no, all of the golden trio are important, the movies just decided that they wanted to make him less important.
@@thebadguychinli4011 Ron was not important?! Did you even read the books at all?!
And honestly who can forget what they have done to Harry and Ginny's relationship in movies!!
Ginny´s ugly in the movies, too.
SONICPOOP nah, I think she looks alright, it’s just her personality that they fucked up

Maddy Maddy sry but I hate Ron
And that was even after Ron and Hermione fell out iirc.
it's bc the screenwriter or whoever preferred hermione from the golden trio
He was also a prefect
Most of the lines Ron had in the whole series were given to Hermione also
Also one touching scene at the end of Order of Phoenix: when Harry went to Nick the ghost to ask him about dead people and wishing he could see Sirius again even in a ghost form, heartbreaking. Sirius' death was minimize!
they never said anything about all of them. just top 10.
Not revealing that Kreacher was forced to go with Regulus Black to fetch the locket in the cave.
I wonder why they skipped that fact in the film, i think it was an important part of Kreacher's story
Also Jose Synonymous reminded me (i quote his exact words) that Regulus could have saved himself by forcing Kreacher to drink the potion a second time, but instead, chose to do it himself, thereby allowing Kreacher to escape while sacrificing himself. This was completely skipped in the film.
Well they had to add a dance scene that wasn't even necessary and part of story and books

-No final battle in Half Blood Prince
-Lots of fighting cut out of Deathly Hallows Part 2
-Many of Voldemort's memories cut in HBP

I was pretty sad when they didn’t add that kreacher became nice when Harry started being nice to him. I thought that was awesome in the book it was one of my favorite parts and when all the house elf’s came down and helped with the fight I was sad that wasn’t in it.
The only thing I can assume from cutting Dobby from so much of the series is that the CGI was too difficult or too expensive since 2 of the 4 directors didn't use him at all and the third only used him in DH.
I've always hated how they cut out Dumbledore's funeral
IKR? It was just the part where everything that happened sink in and know that dumbledore really is dead
My Grandma came in when I was reading that part. I was bawling. She said "all this crying over a dead book character? I hope people cry like that for me when I go..." Yeah I agree with you on this one.
Yeah I agree , but it would not be that fun if people remade the movie with new people
Liza Johnson just because people actually enjoy to read, or watch long movies, doesn’t mean you have to say they’re lying.

I thought Thanos killed Voldemort .
@@yunuskusnandar8259 wait, he didn't?!

Don't forget about Ketcher becoming kind. That was such a huge moment in the books. Seeing him change sides.

Maybe Barty Crouch Jr. was just really good at voice impressions
@@vivianp5962 O.O
The cat had a bigger role in the book

That really left me confised until I read the books again
I miss the part in Deathly Hallows book were Harry uses his invisible cloak and dissapeared only for appearing later in front of Voldemort, and the words he said to him before Voldemort died were just amazing. Its sad that they didn't include those scenes...
Was this In the ending of the book?

Book:
"Tom Riddle hit the floor with a mundane finality, his body feeble and shrunken, the white hands empty, the snake-like face vacant and unknowing."
Look what they did in the films.
Exactly. I enjoyed the relationship between them.
I loved the part in the films where Dumbledore calmly asks Harry if he put his name in the goblet of fire. It was true to the books

@Movie Flame Don't even acknowledge those rude idiots. The internet is fit to bursting with them.
#2 Agragog’s burial
Harry and Slughorn go to Hagrid’s hut to attend his giant spider’s burial.
#3 How to get passed the Womping Willow
Harry, Ron, and Hermione are coming back after visiting Hagrid before Buckbeak’s execution.
I am so crazy.

i think for that they would have needed to add the whole scene with the exams so they had a reason to watch mc gonagall and sometimes it's just in perspective of the whole work and setting to much for a little detail.
Nearly every scene with Ginny.
I am glad we didn’t have the whole SPEW sub plot. It made no sense, it was confusing and completely irrelevant.
I don t think that SPEW is that important
Same here
SPEW was mad annoying
One thing they got right to leave out, didn’t really effect the main plot in any way, even Ron and Harry kept saying it was irrelevant. Didn’t need it in the movie compared to other important stuff they left out.
I've always missed the part when Harry repairs his broken wand with the Elder Wand, and then leaving it in Dumbledore's grave.

I love how a fight between 20 people in the harry potter universe is called a battle.
There was much more people fighting in the books.
You had to be 17+ so some people who left hogwarts came back to fight.
