What a wonderful conversion, this is just what I need, a bed on wheels, no toilet and very, very sporadic cooking. Totally loved the design, rustic and simple. Congratulations guys 😉
nice little conversion, just a point regarding keeping safe, its not a good idea to run gas lines and electrical lines and connections in the same space, electricity, sparks and gas don't go well together ,also where your gas bottle is stored you might want to consider drilling a drain hole in the floor, if you get a gas leak , the gas is heavier than air it will drain to the outside rather than build up in your living space,
Echoing safety concerns here! But I think this is beautiful and I like that you have a task area off the back (outside the van) to extend your living space. Wondering about your rainy day provisions. Also your kitchen setup is great except for a huge concern and that is to say that your bedding is in your backsplash area and so I'd think a fire hazard. Please get a small tray table (many fold up) and set it up well away from the other surfaces for your stove! It can be used as any type of work surface....kitchen prep, desk, or dining table, coffee table, drink table so well worth having along.
Being careful with gas is always stressed before sailing. Unfortunately there is no option of drilling drain hole in yacht. Given that we don't hear many stories of yachts exploding it should be possible to manage risk by just being careful.
I'm a fairly tall guy, and lots of people tell me I'm lucky. I look at stuff like this and feel envious because smaller people can fit in spaces I can't.
No need to feel envious, there are campervans for everyone needs and sizes. Even if you want to get a small can, just get those flexible driver/passenger's chairs to rotate and that will give you extra space for the feet. And you can put a cushion to match the height of the bed and there you go... problem solved... just look it up there are a lot of solutions.. don't discourage.
You've done it right, Harriet: Stealth, relaxing steel blue & pine colour scheme, heater, access to cab, built for you rather than resale. Everything you need for your adventure.
Nicely done conversion Harriet, you are absolutely lovely. I am in the process of buying a mini bus right now. I got the bug just recently and the search and anticipation of getting started is killing me. This project is going to be epic!
Your cook stove in the back could catch your comforter on fire very easily. It would be wise to find a metal cloth curtain to go across while you're cooking. Even one spark going into the van could catch it on fire. Or one Ember could sit inside the van for a very long time and flare up at will. I would be really cautious cooking back there with no barrier between the inside of the van and the stove. I do love what you've done with it.
Great use of space. I think your going to need some kind of splash back as your bedding is very close to your gas hob . A removable cover over the rear doors would be handy if your cooking in the rain.
Just a suggestion, but maybe a rectangle of plexiglass to go across the back length (make it high enough) while you are cooking & showering. To prevent any splash ups from going on your bedding. I would look at creating one of those hanging tables if you really need extra surface space. Slide into place - slide back out when not in use.
I have a similar system as I prefer a proper bed and sleep well rather than have a bad back and not having decent sleep and her system would be possible to remove easily for repairs or use as a van. Nice work Harriet and you hippy girls rock!.
Hi Harriet really like the full bed idea ! im a scuba diver instructor and that would give me lots of space to store all my diving kit , including my twin set , awesome , cant wait to start my own van build now :-) xx
Awesome build! Great video to watch and keep people inspired. Just to read a book and chill out with a view for days on end.... Sign me up! Much love from Australia 😎
The only thing I don’t like about the bed taking up the entire space is because what if it’s raining or cold outside and you don’t want to cook outside? And I enjoy entertaining, I’d need seating and things like that. The bed looks super comfy though.
Nice! I really like what you did with storage. The only thing missing (at least from my needs) is having a desk/ table/ sit-down area inside the van. You decided to go "All Bed, All the Time" - which does have its advantages (massive storage, for one). But I'm converting a Sienna that will have a "seat to bed" conversion - and literally only takes 5 seconds to convert. However ... I will miss the storage you have!
My van is an MPV Hiace which allows you to leave the full width rear seat with the backrest up while also having a single airbed on the opposite side to the sliding door. This leaves you a place to sit at the back (sans table). At the front of the airbed there is still a 50cm space that a 4 drawer plastic chest-of-drawers slots into so you can have a permanent seat at the back, permanent (single) bed and a drawer unit. For double bed conversion I just add another airbed and a cut down aluminium builders folding platform to support it - but then you do lose use of the seat.
At first I was like, But the bed could catch on fire, that's fire hazard, but then I realized that she's taking a shower beside the bed, so it's all wet, it's never gonna catch fire. Smart, real smart!
beautyfull people!! Both of you!! realy. The best camper construction video I ever saw, was made by the man who filmd this video above. Put that in your pocket!
I have a 1960-70 Chevy van, it’s quite small in the back but there is enough room for a long-ish bench a small vanity and that stuff but it doesn’t work yet so my grandpa and I are working on getting the engine working but can you make a video of how to make a small vanity and window covers
If you go on Vanworks.co.uk you can get a canopy that fits over the rear doors so you can cook outside when its pissing down. I think they are about 80 quid . They are made for transpirters but it will fit on your van and other vans too. Nice design but do a little bit more on the safety side of things like mentioned by someone else. I had a bad expierience once with snow build up on one side which caused exhaust fumes to come back in and i was lucky the cold woke me up but i was ill with a fuzzy head for about 36hrs. Please be careful with ventilation, you can buy inserts for door windows so you can keep the open a little bit without rain getting in. Happy climbing :)
Ok, I haven’t watched the full video yet bu I have to comment! That stove.....cooker, whatever.... looks like a fire waiting to happen! Right next to the bed! Just a bad idea. Needs something to create a barrier between the bedding and a hot stove with a flame, splattering grease and whatever.
great conversion , very simple but effective , I like how she has maximised the space by using a fixed bed as the main use of the space . how much did she spend on the DIY part of the van renovating the transit connect , also is this the LWB connect van ?
I have seen a few of these van conversion video's yet can't understand why people just don't buy a used camper. The cost of the van plus the cost of the conversion surely outweighs any difference in cost. Campers are made for the job, and you can pick a used one up at a decent price. Maybe i'm missing something.
Let me give you my perspective on this . I am wrapping up a full interior build of a ford raised roof van....if I chose to I could have put my $5000 in to a used rv or class B … for that $5000 I would get a 20 year van with 20 year old wiring , plumbing , appliances and flooring ( smelly old rugs )...some of the parts to fix these old systems are not available ; Then I could wonder which one would break next...…. With my build I have NEW everything including the latest 4 camera security system , a 300 watt solar system ,an 8x8 ARB awning , Olympus Wave 3 heater and a custom 35 gallon water tank...if anything breaks I can get the parts to fix it and I know how it was put together to facilitate taking it apart . I built what I wanted and was able to put in ALL of the great ideas I got off two years of watching You Tube videos . Most people would say a 30 inch wide bed is too small but I drove tractor trailers for years with 30 inch wide beds...the OLD trucks gave you 18 inches . My 30 inch bed folds up into the wall …… For my money I now have exactly what I want....Did you know there are 2300 Civil War re-enactments in the U.S. every year ???? and it costs little or nothing to camp at one for 3 to 6 days …..
It was kinda budget fast scrapyard built imo, that could be done even better, but at least it works and got done. Would someone build real van for Katie Carney(youtuber). Even such would be better than Toyota Yaris she is using. Please Nate! Any friend in US? I have more and more doubts Katie really not faking it (or at least enjoy) for couple years now, btw. That's said, maybe Harriet's van is not perfect one she is at least ambitious enough to sleep in comfy bed with heat on. For such reason big respect!
Did you do the electronics and gas yourself or did you get it done professionally? I am converting a van and thinking of doing the electric and gas myself if it’s not that hard
@Joe Bland oh i see, i misunderstood you then... yeah eat raw meat is nasty and can be dangerous as well... but you can alaways go for cold meats like sausage, bacon, ham and stuff like that.
Thanks for sharing, love the design but how do you protect your bed from getting wet when taking a shower and how do you protect yourself from moscitos and do you have a camping potty? Thanks fro reply.

Congratulations guys 😉
Great colors. Smart design. She’s super cute. Stellar smile.
Harriet is absolutely adorable
Right? My sentiments, exactly.
Taken the words out my mouth :)
And she cooks , perfect 😎
Not getting any Andy?

Just only switch the gas on if you need it for cooking. 😉😉

I'm a fairly tall guy, and lots of people tell me I'm lucky. I look at stuff like this and feel envious because smaller people can fit in spaces I can't.
deezynar I feel like I was made small to live in a van lol
I am not kidding, there are some real advantages to being small. I'm glad that you have a place that you are comfortable in.
Plus airline leg room :) Even if I buy 'economy plus' I still have less legroom than this girl in economy :D
No need to feel envious, there are campervans for everyone needs and sizes. Being tall is hard. Clothes, legs, beds, doors, vans, EVERYTHING!!! Im 1,98m (6"6'?)
Great book selection. As a 6’3” person I am envious of her ability to fit in such a regular sized vehicle.
JUST ABOUT TO START THE CAMPER THING MYSELF BIT OF A MAN THAT LIKES MY CREATURE COMFITS SO HERE GOES ILL KEEP YOU UPDATED CHEERS JD
Good luck!
Fixed bed is a must, I love this conversion .
You've done it right, Harriet:
Stealth, relaxing steel blue & pine colour scheme, heater, access to cab, built for you rather than resale.
Everything you need for your adventure.
Brilliant van conversion, nice and easy to live in , no faffing about making beds. I love it . Clever girl 👧 .👍🇬🇧
I liked he van a lot, and thought she was a really fun person. Glad she’s enjoying life.
Nicely done conversion Harriet, you are absolutely lovely. I am in the process of buying a mini bus right now. I got the bug just recently and the search and anticipation of getting started is killing me. This project is going to be epic!

Idk why, but every van/van conversion video you make I instantly add it to «watch later» to when Im going to make my own :)
Great use of space. I think your going to need some kind of splash back as your bedding is very close to your gas hob . A removable cover over the rear doors would be handy if your cooking in the rain.

She's adorable i would marry her in a heart beat.take notes women, simplicity at its finest.
I have a similar system as I prefer a proper bed and sleep well rather than have a bad back and not having decent sleep and her system would be possible to remove easily for repairs or use as a van.
Nice work Harriet and you hippy girls rock!.

Really like the effect she achieved on the wood. Clever design, and nice van !
Nice van set up! I love the ones with permanent beds and not the ones you have to pull out and sleep on cushions!
That is an unusual conversion. She seems happy with it. I think that the bed takes up too much of the available space.
OMG, she is freaking adorable. Also, great build!
Agreed!
Great build...are you checking out her body, you cheeky freaky.
7:10 What a lovely scene to watch. I think i'm falling in love with this woman and her lovely sense of humor.
The interior is superb! I like its warm and cozy wooden vibe.
She is Cool.
Drawer stove is a great idea.
Partically closed cab is neat too.
Love the shower curtain....I have watched a lot of Van Life videos and no one ever used that idea...
I really like the paint on the walls!
Awesome build! Great video to watch and keep people inspired. Just to read a book and chill out with a view for days on end.... Sign me up!
Much love from Australia 😎
...also seriously stellar ombré on the walls to match bedding
Two people comfortably....:eyeroll: ....... hopefully..... :-D How cute was that....damn. Shes adorable.

Hey Doug! So am I, I have an 09 that will model after the vw westfalia. Where are you at in your build?
At first I was like, But the bed could catch on fire, that's fire hazard, but then I realized that she's taking a shower beside the bed, so it's all wet, it's never gonna catch fire. Smart, real smart!
THIS VAN IS SICK!!!! love it.
Ally law I didn't expect to see you here it's a madness 😁

I've fallen in love with the van and her books
She is adorable!
beautyfull people!! Both of you!! realy. The best camper construction video I ever saw, was made by the man who filmd this video above. Put that in your pocket!
This is the perfect upgrade from camping to vanning! Love it! Thank you for sharing! :)
Love the shower. Definitely copying that.
Shes such a charm
awesome van build! bit to small for me however looks comfy and great features to make the most out of the space
You are so lovely, Hariet! Hope Nate is not forcing you doing things you don't want to do anymore... He's an narcissistic tyrann!
I have a 1960-70 Chevy van, it’s quite small in the back but there is enough room for a long-ish bench a small vanity and that stuff but it doesn’t work yet so my grandpa and I are working on getting the engine working but can you make a video of how to make a small vanity and window covers
Cosy little van. Nice setup and you are adorable. Happy travels!
Beautiful van , just one question when it rains as it does in the uk , how do you cook when the hob is outside ?
I like an idea with shower, simple and efficient.
Great job guys! I think it's awesome to see how much you can do with a smaller van like the Connect.
If you go on Vanworks.co.uk you can get a canopy that fits over the rear doors so you can cook outside when its pissing down. I think they are about 80 quid . Challenge met! Busting out those books for proper hippie street cred.
That is probably how I will build my interior. Excellent video!!
it’s amazing what you did with such a small van
Love your build..safe travels💛
Wow a lot of people really insist on the fixed bed thing!
Best funny video ever Harriet and Nate😂😂😂
Nice! No insects, flys or mosquitos there I guess? Great build. Thanks for sharing! Cheers
Love your build. I live the fixed bed idea.
Thank you, Harriet, and Nate, I suppose. Lol. This was very helpful. I am converting my 1997 Ford E-350 15 passenger Club Wagon, to a camper.
I live in a Van down by the River.. Excellent fart cube! 👏🏼
Cool. Live your life. Full joy.
shes gonna share her essay on that book!!
Nice build, though Id place gas and lines to right of stove area vs next to electrics. Make, model and where to buy cooker?
great conversion , very simple but effective , I like how she has maximised the space by using a fixed bed as the main use of the space . how much did she spend on the DIY part of the van renovating the transit connect , also is this the LWB connect van ?
£2400 she states ive just rewatched it ha
Great build video and awesome van tour. Sweet job 🚐🇬🇧
"Nate's always right..." I felt there was gonna be a 'but...' at the end of that sentence??? :P
There may have been, but Nate did the filming and editing.
Rule two: See rule one.
LUV the conversion! 👍👍👍
"you stretch" *giggles* "you don't do yoga"..... I have never heard anything more true in my life!!! lmao
Very good conversion look forward to seeing your videos, safe traveling

Cool micro van! Chill mobile!

Yeah and the van looks good as well
...good edit “Nate’s always right”...twice:)) good to know:)
Did you do the electronics and gas yourself or did you get it done professionally? I am converting a van and thinking of doing the electric and gas myself if it’s not that hard
Liked the conversion better than most, super job.....great job on the video....Are you in the UK?
UK based - but most the time in Europe 🎉
what about when it is cold or the weather is bad, how do you shower and cook then?
Thumbs up for vid and for being a fellow vitaligo person 🤔🙂
Outstanding! I love the design.
I love the conversion, but what do you do if you have snow, rain or it's cold out?
Cafe or suffer!
Its like Nate's van had a baby! Congratulations!
I think it's adopted....
Nice color gradient design. Brilliant. How did you do the dark wood? Safe travels
lovely ,adorable conversion with a cute girl.
Great conversion. What sort/brand is the heater you installed. Interested for my own van.
Great Van conversion, really enjoyed the video
just a queston, how does she cook if it rains?
I'm sure a tarp would be pretty easy to rig up
I'm very sure it never rains in the UK.
In the past, some kitchens in Spain were outdoor, check this painting images.coveralia.com/audio/t/Triana-El_Patio-Interior_Frontal.jpg
@Joe Bland of course not, there is plenty of food that can be eaten raw, like fruit, vegetables, seeds, nuts, etc.
@Joe Bland oh i see, i misunderstood you then... yeah eat raw meat is nasty and can be dangerous as well... but you can alaways go for cold meats like sausage, bacon, ham and stuff like that.
How do you stay cool in summer ?
I like the recessed lighting on the sides but where do you go to the bathroom at?
Love the small van conversion Harriet.
Looks like fun , make me some tea ☕️ luv ....
I build small campers, well done. maybe my vids will give you some good ideas, have fun, William
What is the ventilation option when it's raining outside and you can't open any windows abd doors? I've always wondered...
How do you cook when it's raining or something like that?
Thanks for sharing, love the design but how do you protect your bed from getting wet when taking a shower and how do you protect yourself from moscitos and do you have a camping potty? Thanks fro reply.
Don't think of those things.... just think how GLORIOUS it is to be 25 years old and living in a van! Come on.. don't be practical like needing a toilet or having health insurance... this is VAN LIFE for the young and free!!!
She didnt think at all when she decided to covert the car. It is painfully obvious from the design of her "kitchen". It is trendy to live in a van so she jumped on the vagon.
Tidy and original build. Where did you get those load bearing chopping board sliders from ?
Just from a hardware store in spain - they are fairly common
i think its love .. oh the beautiful young love !!
Nice van, enjoy.
