    Liked the sound of that Ford. Time to go cruising and scare some grannies.

    I regret not buying that car when it was in Saskatoon 8 years ago, but it's so great to see it put together as a proper hot rod. Love the stance and the hopped up 4 banger!

      Ouch Kyle, that hurts! We all have "automotive regrets". I passed on a 32 5 window for $750.00 because a friend of mine was horrified that they cut out the floorboards and channeled the body over the frame, the body was pretty cherry. However 3yrs later I found a 41 Willys coupe that had been in storage since 1963. I've owned it for the last 36 yrs. Things just seem to work out. Shouldn't feel bad, you have some nice inventory Kyle and you do some awesome work!

    4:36 Dropped axle, 2 carbs, hydraulic brakes, high compression head, thats a Traditional Hot rod! Not a street rod, not a rat rod. This car is what hotrods were in the beginning. Henry Ford came out with his new V8 engine in 1932 and was embarrassed that the four cylinder cars would outrun his new engine. Hotrodders had been learning how to get more performance out of the Ford 4 cylinder engines for many years when the V8 was introduced and it would take most of the 1930s to get higher performance out of the V8.
    My 1931 4 cylinder engine has a high compression head, high performance cam, electronic ignition, timing strip, 12V alternator, 2 carburetors, 4 into 1 stainless steel exhaust header and a fully synchronized 3 speed transmission with overdrive, dropped axle, and Bendix self energizing, self adjusting brakes.

    My mechanic has a 32 5 window with a B model 4 banger and it has a lot of Riley speed equipment. It has had a four inch chop and is channeled a bit over the frame. Anyone can put a SMC or Ford in but anytime he takes it out people gather round it. It only has a windshield and a bench seat and has a bench seat in it and has a flat black paint. The car you are working on is way cool, and all the accessories make it great.

    Need the 'swamp cooler' to hang over the window for hot days and the canvas bags of water to sling over the front to have extra water for the radiator. Dad had those for his trip to California in his '27 Chevy back in 1932. Tool box and spare parts for the trip for when you broke down. Dad went through the updraft carb. on the Chevy banger on the side of the road.

    Sounds decent - I wonder if that Winfield is just for better flow, or if it actually boosts compression? I heard those 4's came from the factory with something like 4.5:1 comp. to deal with the lousy gas of the times.

    • @pkerit308
      @pkerit308 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Factory compression was 4.2 and the entire purpose of the Winfield head is to increase compression. My Lion Speed head is advertised as 7.1 compression.
