You boys are the salt of the earth, and your humour and passion is universal.
I have a mechanic and his son here in Ireland and it’s generally a comedy show when I call in for a service.
My personal favourite is ‘jeez man your car’s had more hits than the Beetles!’
But you guys are the best by far!

I love how when you work on these cars, it’s with all the old tools that would have been used when these cars were new. It really takes me back in time to “visit” your shop.

The discovery of field repairs and "wharever works" straight thinking is always a pleasure to see, and rural areas are the best places to find them.
I like looking back to watch the shelves at the shop gradually fill up with dusty NOS parts we used to find at swap meets back in the day.
Love the "farmer's wire = mechanic's wire" nomenclature, where a material or tool is given authenticity -- and the employer, a self-perceived cleverness -- by virtue of naming something for its use by another valued group. " It works for them, so it should work for us!"
    Great job, as always!

I don't know why you have all those wonderful period tools - you just showed that all that's needed is a gasoline container, an ignition wrench and a points file (plus pliers or wrench to change the battery)!
Unbelievable. Amazing that with so much wrong, and so many years behind her, the engine started right up. Thanks for the fun - and the added bonus of the hardhat liner.

I have a 29 chevy with the same set up. Two things I've learned about these cars . The armored cable laying of to the side of the distributor . Leave it there it's junk and disconnected for the same reason. Old wires inside and a steel conduit make for lots of electrical shorting. Save your battery & starter by putting a old style primer cup on the car. Updraft carbs are hard to prime and if you use the stock air cleaner like mine a real joy to remove. On the intake manifold there is a plug for the vacuum to the windshield wipers which yours doesn't have. Get a old style primer cup and feed the gas or starter fluid from there. It will start right up and no removing of the air cleaner. Primer cup looks cool to!

I know all other auto manufacturers had battery compartments, trays , and boxes. I had forgotten that Chevrolet was the only one with the more frivolous "battery nook" Love the throttle return cable. If you run one to that headlight you could have a left turn signal, eh? I think your best find was the hardhat liner. You two are very funny, keep having fun. Great old car.

    That's awesome.
If it's anything like the Fords of the era, the Model A was gravity fed, but when they went to Model B with a fuel pump (like the Chev) the carburetor float was then fitted with a small spring in the float assembly to help seat the needle against the fuel pump pressure. Maybe once the fuel pump is back in the system it will continue to run, and maybe even idle.
