2024's are trickling into dealerships now. I was able to buy one last week at my local GM dealer, of course I called on it the day it showed up in their inventory. My dealer did have a $500 dealer discount and I was able to use a $500 GM First Responder discount plus the dealer through in a lifetime power train warranty. I'm very pleased with the deal I got.
My sticker was $52,270 with a couple packages and the power moonroof, picked it up March 16th. I wanted the Radiant Red and Bose audio (not a fan of Bose but it WAS an upgrade) but nobody had one, so I got the blue, which I really liked as well and matched my BMW S1000RR, so... Got a "check engine" light at 500mi (though the truck runs just fine) I have to take care of Thursday. Not happy with the dealer I bought it from, I won't go back, and am getting it looked at the dealer that is closer but unfortunately didn't have any. They're tough to get, so don't expect any discounts.
Thanks! I haven’t always been that smart when buying vehicles, but have been fortunate to be able to make sure I stay in positive equity on my last few rides. Thanks for the comment!
Congratulations Kevin. Nice tires and rims. What I like the most on the Colorado is front AND rear locking differentials. It’s an off road beast. Good Luck 😊
I think you got a good deal. I live in CA and didn't see any ZR2 have discounts. I did see some pretty big AT4X discounts last month (5-6K) on 2023's but ZR2's were pretty scarce. I'm in the market for midsize truck and the overall the price of the new Tacoma makes this truck look like a steal now since the Taco TRD Pro the competitor to this truck will probably be around $65K. I'm almost thinking of going to a full size truck now because they are almost as cheap now. I've seen a 23 Ram Rebel advertised at $52K down from an msrp of $64K.
I paid MSRP for mine … very low inventory when I purchased, so I expected to be right at sticker. Markups are still common here in many parts of CA. Likewise, no sunroof in mine, but I have the Bose system.
Thanks for sharing. It’s definitely interesting how different markets have different trends, but obviously there’s a lot of variables depending on when you purchase.
Do what I did I used my 2022 Corolla doing Lyft to pay off my new 2023 Colorado Trail Boss in 5 months flat! I’ve only put 2,800 miles on it! They did give me a lot for my 2022 Tacoma SR5 and I financed 18k but wasn’t gonna pay all that interest , I got my title a couple months ago!
I payed 41,100 and got every option you can get on a TB,, my job slowed down so I didn’t want to risk spending 10k more for a ZR2,,I’m happy with my truck,it’s medium metallic gray , I’m putting Colorado ZR2 wheels with another 1 maybe 2 inch added lift!
@@jimmycline4778thanks for the advice Jimmy! I’ve got a couple side hustles going to help pay the truck down. The trail boss is just as capable in most every setting like the ZR2. It’s the smartest buy for the Colorado for sure. Thanks for the comment!
Kevin I just found your channel. I’m currently in a ‘24 Tundra and in the process of lemoning it due to an ongoing transmission issue. At first I was going to get another Tundra, but after looking at my finances, a mid size is much more appealing. I can afford a full size, but my goodness it’s a ton of money. What were your initial thoughts when you first downsized from the F150? I’m nervous the Colorado may be too small I enjoy all the space, being able to put groceries in the cab without putting them on the seats, stuff like that. But at the end of the day, I don’t have any kids and the rear seats are really just used for storage/transportation.
I’m in the same boat as you with no kids, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the extra space! I do miss the rear seat convenience the F150 offered. The Colorado will be a compromise. It’s not like you can’t put stuff on the floors back there but when you fold up the seats it doesn’t give you the nice flat load floor a full size provides. I’d say go look at one in person and see how it works for you. I will say this, if money was no object I’d have bought another full size truck.
It says "leather appointed" seats. That means probably the perforated leather spots are genuine leather. The side bolsters and other areas around the edges are most likely synthetic leather.
That is true, almost no youtuber disclose how much they paid for their vehicle. Also Personally I don't think dealer are having issues on getting trucks in their lot, the are trying to created a demand for hike prices again.
Good to know. I’m certainly not an expert. I’m just some guy on TH-cam! I appreciate the comment as it’ll be helpful to those who read it. Thanks very much!
The stop sale was for 2023 models due to issues with the hardware used on their infotainment. This I understand was corrected with software. 2024 models were not included in the stop sale and both 2023 and 2024 models never stopped production, just that 2023 models were held back. I'm about to pick up my black 2024 ZR2 this next Monday
GM Authority reported that 2024 production of Colorado and Canyon started January 2 and that approximately 15,000 were parked and not shipped due to stop sales order due to download issues. They onnly started shipping about 10 days ago so it was 6 to 7 week delay in shipping
I like the Frontier but that doesn’t have 4auto, and that’s a feature I wanted so I didn’t look at it much further. Might be a good option for some with the V6 still.
The sustainability of the seat material got me. The plastic fake leather is made out of crude oil, while the real leather seat is made out of a cow that was already turned into a happy meal. Lol. Cows are a renewable resource, crude oil is not.
I mentioned in a comment below that I misspoke and sustainable was not the word I meant to say. I just don’t like having something to die so I can have a more comfortable seat.
Kevin, the cows don’t die for the seat they die for the meat humans eat. If their skin is not used for seat leather then it’s just get discarded or turned into glue or whatever.
No, I wasn’t aware of this issue. Was yours damaged? Also, where did you hear they’re starting to build 2025’s in May? They just started shipping the 2024’s. That can’t be right that the 2025’s would come out that soon.
"Requires future software update," that does not inspire confidence in me. All the tech, in all of these vehicles, I can do without. I just want a truck to do truck things.
That future update just refers to the feature that tells you how many seconds behind you are driving compared to the car in front of you. I wouldn’t have a use for that feature and certainly wasn’t a dealbreaker. I like the fact that your truck can receive new features over the air even after you bought it. Thanks for the comment Adrian!
Thanks! Im loving it so far. I had my in-laws back there last weekend. They’re not the tallest people, but said they were very comfortable. If you’re 6’4” and so are your passengers there will not be enough room. Only a full size truck will work there. However, if you’re 6’0” like me, then adults or kids of that size or less will be comfortable in the back even for longer trips. Hope that helps!
Not a 2024 TRD Pro. Those will be more expensive than this truck and could potentially have reliability issues as well. Don’t forget they lose the V6 engine and will have the 4 cylinder turbo charged powertrains. Also some will be hybrid, further adding to the complexity. You may be right on resale, but I don’t personally ascribe to any one brand. I’d buy almost any brand on the market if they make a cool and relatively affordable option. Brand loyalists are sometimes so loyal they aren’t willing to budge on their opinion, I get it. 😉 😂
Since 2016 the Colorado has been a more reliable truck according to repairpal. Tacoma also has more than double the recalls since then according to NHTSA. Resale is higher, but you paid more to begin with
The ‘24 TRD Pro is gonna start at or over $60k. With a few upgrades(which you can’t choose because Toyota only does allocations) and dealer markups they are gonna be north of $70k for several years.
It’s just about as heavy as the F150 was and it’s got a factory lift unlike the F150. It’s also not a hybrid. All that certainly works against it. To be fair I’ve been averaging about 18 MPG combined and I’ll bet it gets slightly better once the weather gets more consistently warm. Definitely a trade off as I was getting about 21 MPG in the Ford. I miss the Ford in many ways but this is still a very cool truck and I can no longer afford to buy an F150 Powerboost at the prices they’re demanding. Thanks for the comment!
