@@EnufIsTooMuch What I tell my guys who wear their hats backwards... "Two kind of people that wear their hats backwards... welders and high speed c#*k suckers...haha"
Ha...I've got that beat. I drive a 1970 F-250 (54 years old) for WHEN I need a truck. Not too often (retired). Otherwise, I have a 2020 Camry for everything else...& I'm just fine with that...
The only things I need are the front, side, and rear cameras. These new trucks are so dam big that people are "accidentally" running over pedestrians (adults & children) in the neighborhoods.
I still own my 02 Silverado I bought new, but I did buy a new Colorado Trail Boss,it was the first time I bought a new truck since 02, I all ready payed off my Colorado but I can safely say it’ll probably be my last new truck, I’ve had it for a year now and only put 3k miles on it and I love both my trucks!
You missed the mark on this one. If someone buys a Maverick because they just need a small bed for Lowe’s runs or taking junk to Goodwill that doesn’t make them stupid - they bought what they needed. I call them smart. You just disagree with them. Also, you suggest a Ram as an alternative for many trucks in your video. Rams are overpriced and have typical Stellantis quality problems. I owned a Ram 1500 for 7 years and it was nothing but trouble. Never again.
I agree. Unfortunately, like many reviewers, these two act like everyone that wants or needs a truck absolutely has to haul a 10,000 lb trailer with construction equipment on it, is picking up an entire Lowes full of lumber and when they’re done, they’re going to go rock climbing. I imagine very few pickup owners do any of that. There’s no reason to buy more truck than you need. The Maverick was soooo good in theory but because so many people wanted them because they were inexpensive unlike pretty much any other truck, dealers and Ford got greedy. Luckily those crazy dealer markups from the beginning have mostly gone away. Another truck that I like but most people don’t is the Silverado with the turbo 4. Like you, I just need something for Home Depot or Lowes runs or to bring home large boxes if I buy something in one. For me, the 4-cylinder Silverado is fine. Unfortunately, they can get up in price though. I also like the base W/T trucks, too. Those can still be had in the low 30s and still do what you need. $50, $60, $70k is ridiculous for a truck.
Thank you. I’m blue collar hardhat guy that travels to all the oil gas refineries and tank farms from New Orleans to Houston. All my tools and PPE fit in 3 tool bags. I don’t need a monster F150 that gets sh!tty fuel economy. The Maverick meets my needs and I can pocket mileage money.
You make too much sense on that maverick comment. I have an old v6 2007 tundra with an 8 foot bed because that's what I needed at the time. Now I'd be perfectly happy with a small bed truck that's good on gas. The only thing stopping me from buying another truck is my old tundra won't die.
So you think "people are stupid" for buying a Ridgeline? People don't buy a Ridgeline or a Maverick for there towing capabilities. You're way off base on the Honda with everything but the cost, they are expensive. However you're getting a beefed up Honda Pilot with all the same interior accoutrements, but in place of the 3rd row seating and hatch back you have the truck bed. The bed of the Ridgeline is actually one of its selling points with the two way tailgate and under the bed waterproof storage. And dare I say... It will absolutely outlast and be more trouble free any other "truck" you can buy. FYI; It has a 5K tow rating, not sure where you got 2K from.
Not going to lie I drive my wife ridgeline any chance I get lol. I drive a f150 and the ridgeline is the perfect go around town truck there is, and the ridgeline quality is amazing it makes my f150 look like a hobo built it.
I honestly think a maverick or Ridgeline suits most truck owners needs. It tows either 4k or 5k. That's enough for most boats, recreational vehicles, or flat deck trailers. Good on gas, enough ground clearance for when it snows which is really all the "off roading" most trucks see, especially new ones.
Yeah, this video sucks alright. I have a 2017 Ridgeline and use it 5-6 days a week for my carpentry job. The secure storage in the bed is great. With a pair of ladders racks and a roof rack, I can easily carry 16 ft material. And I have two young kids who I bring to school 5 days a week so a comfortable ride and decent parking ability is more important to me than towing capacity. It’s the perfect vehicle for someone who wants a truck bed and decent towing capacity with an SUV experience
@@sail4201 -- I almost bought a first gen Ridgeline. It was kind of ugly and boxy but...everyone loved the comfortability of this truck, the truck bed hidden storage compartment, and that nifty truck bed door. I still want a Ridgeline but... I bought a 1st gen 2006 Tundra 6spd manual v6 instead. It's a MANUAL so why not. It's been pretty solid since Dec 2023.
Yeah the older Tacoma is a great choice too. I will say, when I bought the 2017 RTL, I got it brand new for 29k. I actually intended to buy a used F150 but couldn’t find anything with decent mileage for less than 20-25k. So getting a dependable new Honda with a first baby on the way made sense. I’m not sure I’d pay 45K or whatever they’re asking now if I had to do it again. Honestly if I needed something to carry tools and materials and kids I’d look at a 2016 odyssey or Sienna. The crime in San Fran area is out of control so leaving tools in a pickup bed even with a rigid tonneau cover is risky. I’ve been robbed a few times
jeepers those trucks look like shit. If i could afford those prices i still wouldn’t buy one. I think i’ll put the money into a mint Chevy square body and use the left over 70k for cocaine and ho’s😎
As an owner of a 2019 Honda Ridgeline, I agree with your points about it. However, if you are not off-roading and towing, this is an excellent truck! It drives smooth and accelerates well. The 2019 gets about 30 mpg in warm weather with cruise control on the freeway. Best of all, it has an in-bed trunk and swinging tail gate. I love those features!
@@ionflow1073 Sorry, I don’t have any experience with Isuzu. I do know that when I bought my first truck in 1996, I test drove a Ford Ranger. It was too small. So I went with the newly redesigned Dodge Dakota. I had 2 Dakotas. The 2019 Ridgeline is close to the same size of the Dakota, so went with that. Another plus for the newer Ridgelines is the AWD. It works great in snow, mud, and dirt roads. I had 4WD on my last Dakota. I did not like having to switch it off on snowy roads when the snow was too light or scraped off. No need to worry about it with AWD.
@MrKnightoflight very nice, the really liked the older Dakotas. They were somewhere between a full-size and a compact truck. If I'm not mistaken, I believe they offered them with the optional magnum v8. I had an Isuzu Pup for a few years, and I loved it, but then again, I'm only 5'4" so I can get by with something smaller.
That Honda is $20K more than I paid for my 2006 4wd Cummins truck. Yes, I know inflation is a thing but holy shit! I'll be driving old junk for the rest of my life.
Exactly, I’m rocking my 2008 f150 with the 5.4. (We all know the 5.4 has issues, but for the going costs right now….i’ll keep trucking until I just replace the engine and keep going .
Its Nuts, just wait be patient and someday all the overpriced new stuff is used cheap and sorted by time to know which is good and which is sh...t. And it can be 10-15 years old but " new" to me. Because I don't waste my money on new crap. But some people ( dumb people) think new means reliable, and Ah yea look at ( smell) me, I soooo successful( not)
My new work truck is a 2024 F150 powerboost hybrid black appearance package. So far I am loving it over the Ram diesel I just got rid of. Also, it's been the perfect truck for camping as it has the pro power onboard and it doesn't need the engine idling to work. The engine will kick on every 20-30 mins or whatever for like 3 mins then shut down again once the 2.4kwh battery is recharged. Been getting 1100km per tank so far too (685 miles)
I love my 2023 Ford Limited Powerboost! Luxury trucks cost money if you can’t afford it buy what you can afford. Being expensive doesn’t make it a bad truck. Features like the onboard generator and backup pro assist are not free and I am willing to pay for extra safety and convenience features.
Coming from a Toyota, got my loaded 24 Titan Pro-4X for $51k, versus $65k MSRP. The V8 is heaven. Pleny of space, solid build quality, nice appointments without all the extra tech bullsh*t that plagues every other modern vehicle. With the new Tundra being a reliability disaster, the Titan was the last great dependable truck. Compare the recalls for every other truck out there, yeah. American consumers will pledge allegiance to the brand of their choosing, whether or not they're actually making a solid product. Also, 5yr/100k bumper-to-bumper warranty means parts will be out there for a long time to come.
Love my Titan too and picked it for its simplicity and perceived reliability. Also the seats are the best that I’ve sat in, the fender stereo kicks ass and it’s just different. Just don’t pay sticker on one and don’t trade it next year like a boner.
Loved my 2017 but was totaled and got a 2019 after three motors within 7 months I got rid of it. I was thinking about the 2024 but they stopped making them so I backed off. I bought my sons old 2007 Silverado and it's been doing great even with 120k miles on it
I was thinking Tundra to put a truck camper on but then suddenly Tundra doesnt sound like a good idea. So im thinking Titan would be a great choice. Have you had any problems? Also, what they mentioned in this video about parts eventually being unavailable due to stopping production...what are your thoughts about that?
Ridgeline owners dont need the "truck" experience. We like a nice comfortable ride and roomy interior and it is nice to have a truck bed for the occasional moving of a sofa or fridge. But 52K for a new one is crazy.
I got one of the original ones for my son. It was a decent vehicle, I would say suitable for metro living & hauling potting soil & the like but it definitely was not able to work like a truck. But my kid liked it for 2 years in school until it was time to use it to work for a living. It has a very small niche but it's a loyal niche for sure lol!
You guys completely miss the point of that. You used to be able to get brand new cars at pretty much base price + delivery/destination charge and maybe an add-on. You get a minimum of 5, 6 or 7 add-ons now depending on the model, even if its a cheaper model! You guys are not only completely cool w/ that but u make fun of the guy for pointing it out. Its a creep up in prices and it doesn't stop. This btw, is a great example of why American corps enjoy bending the consumer over... you'll gladly take it 😉
I agree for the most part but it is true that Nissan is unfortunately discontinuing the Titan and it does put it at a significant disadvantage for people looking to settle on a brand.
I have a Ford Maverick, and I've been completely satisfied with it. If you really want to tow more the 2k, don't get a Maverick. Get a midsized truck, like a Ridgeline, Frontier, Tacoma or Colorado, which can all tow far more than the Maverick. The Maverick is for anyone who wants a bed, and doesn't need to tow anything more than a small trailer 8' trailer. I'm always hauling 4'x8' sheets of plywood, lumber, appliances, etc in my Maverick, and it gets the job done just fine. I'd say most people who have big trucks, would get along just fine with a Maverick, and save ten of thousands of dollars in the process.
I had a 2008 Tundra, it was an awesome truck, never an issue other than regular maintenance. I’ve got a 23 tundra now, not so sure it’s a Better truck though
@@Javelinjoe73 Had 2 of the older 5.7 Tundra's but 12mpg & frame rusting was tough to take. Now I own a 24 Limited & a 24 Plat Hybrid & have had good luck so far, especially heavy towing......BUT !!
My 2010 tundra issues were the starter went out at 120k miles. the stereo sucks to link up with Bluetooth. Once the mic goes bad you can’t add another phone. The alignment always has issues in the front tires I keep having to align the tires from eating up the other tires. Luckily I only drive it 2k miles a year now.
Sorry but as a Gladiator owner for over three years now, I have to point out that the Gladiator is a VERY capable truck off-road when lifted properly, with the proper sized tires installed (35”+). Also nearly 300HP is hardly “underpowered”, especially with the 8 speed ZF transmission! As far as the turning radius goes, it has the best turning radius in a midsize truck, and can go down the same trails as a wrangler can with little to no difficulties. As far as the bed goes,,, you can fit two dirt bikes, or a quad In the bed of a Gladiator with the gate down. Look at the brochure if you don’t believe me. I’m keeping my Swiss Army knife Jeep. I agree about the stupid grilles on the 24’s.
I have had mine since 2020 and have had no issues with it at 55K miles. I did lose gas mileage going to 35" Tires but the truck just looks a lot better. My biggest issue with my Sport S is that the seats are horrible. I've done 8-12 hour drives in it numerous times and its not the most pleasant experience and the other is the bed could use to be just a bit taller so that more standard things can fit into it when you have a hard cover like I do. But its quick, nimble and not so wide that I am scraping the cement walls on many roads
You were right when you said the Ridgeline is more of an SUV with a truck bed. That said, it rides better than many a premium truck, very high trim level, spacious interior, bulletproof reliability and high resale. If you are using your truck like a car MOST of the time, Ridgeline is a reasonable option. You'll thank me when you go to trade it in and get a much better deal.
My 2023 Ford Maverick has the towing package, bed mat, because I don't want any liner, they're ugly, I paid $25,000 even. It's turbocharged and extremely fast and it gets 28 miles per gallon and I'm a lead foot. I have consistently pulled 3,500 lb and it tows beautifully. It is rated for 5,000 lb. And it is all wheel drive.
Yes I think they were biased on that one. Even the one they showed was not really a base model as it had the $1500 hybrid option and spray in bedliner. If they ordered one without that, it'd be $23K barebones. You can buy spray in liner and DIY if needed or get it done cheaper outside the dealer. I've heard from Ford techs that they feel more expensive then they really are. The drivetrain in them has been out for years so most of the bugs are worked out. Seems like a decent vehicle.
They're rated for 4,000lbs. Hence the "4K towing package". But I agree, it's still a lot of money but the Ecoboost Mavericks are the least rapey of most new vehicles.
IMO that towing package is a bargain at about $700. You'd pay more to upgrade the oil cooler, radiator, differential, etc. to roll your own towing package even if you did it yourself.
Yall complain about over priced trucks, then ford finally fills the niche of a small budget truck for people who dont have 10,000lb trailers to haul and you shit on them for it. Mavericks are still a lot of money. But they've HALF the cost of a similarly optioned 1/2 ton.
I'm still driving my 08 Nissan Titan and if I was looking for a new truck I'd buy the last model the 2024s. Today I'd trust it more than any of the other trucks including Toyota right now. Depreciation isn't a concern when I have a tendency to keep them till the wheels fall off.
I have had an experience at a dealership that I’ve never seen in my 52 years on this planet. I actually had a sales person at a Ford dealership telling me that they wouldn’t sell me a lightning because everyone that has been sold has come back.
I couldn't care less about the "truck experience". I have a 2018 Ridgeline and love it. I have a rental property and find it perfect for carrying things for rental repairs or carrying the snowblower in the pan. I find it is enough truck for my needs. Most of the people I see driving around in full size trucks, rarely if ever take them off pavement, and frankly, off roading beats the shit out a vehicle. Unless you have money to throw away, you're probably better served getting a beater for that kind of thing. I'm not a Honda fanboy, I just like a practical vehicle that ticks the boxes for my needs, I don't need to be seen driving a big truck.
The Honda Ridgeline was the smoothest riding most comfortable driving truck I’ve ever owned, but the Ford Maverick is a better city truck than the Ridgeline with a better price. The Jeep Gladiator is a great off-road truck and the only convertible truck on the market. If you live somewhere with good weather it’s an amazing open air experience and a fun vehicle. The Gladiator is priced wrong and you will spend thousands on mods if you plan to really off-road, even if you do get the Rubicon. The comparison to the Ram 1500 doesn’t make sense unless you only buy a truck to tow and haul. Some Gladiator trim levels have lower tow and haul ratings than the Honda Ridgeline. The Ram 1500 and Jeep Gladiator are targeted at completely different use cases.
The domestic vehicle manufacturers have lost their minds with these exorbitant prices. Trucks are not nor have they ever been luxury vehicles. Why would anyone pay 100k for a pick up truck? That’s insane! Also, I’ve never seen a turbo engine that doesn’t have a shorter life span. Too many bells and whistles make vehicles unnecessarily complicated and way too expensive.
It's a niche to be filled. I just bought a 2024 GMC Sierra AT4 2500 HD. I use it for towing quite often. Yes, it is nice, but what was luxury just a few years ago is standard now. Why not have something nice? I can't help but detect a little venom in your tone. I might be wrong, and please excuse me for saying so, but it seems your hating bc you can't have one.
@@michaelhowell2326 Ah, there it is. The condescending BS from an owner who thinks that is the ONLY reason. "You can't afford one." People have a right to decide how they spend their money. If they think it's lunacy to spend it on a mere truck, then so be it. Why do snobs like you even bother with TH-cam? Oh, that's right .... ego.
I’ve got a 2010 mazdaspeed 3 with 197K on the odometer. Original engine, turbo, and clutch. AC doesn’t work but it drives and pulls hard still. I bought it in 2014 with 54K on it and I am the 2nd owner. I’ve driven it plenty hard too.
@@michaelhowell2326it Having an option for a luxury truck is great if that is what you want. However it’s no longer an option. The manufactures are all in on their higher trims now. If you want a base model to use as a work truck or so you can modify yourself, you are SOL because dealers just don’t have them anymore.
The sticky brake issue only affects the Maverick hybrid models with regenerative brakes. The Ecoboost models get decent owner reviews. I disagree with any negative statements about the Maverick not being good for "truck stuff". The Maverick was specifically designed for an underserved section of the market. It's was never meant for "truck people" who want to do "truck stuff". The target market for the Maverick is as follows: Age 18-35. Urban dwellers. First-time truck buyers, women (not specifically mentioned by Ford, but it is implied by the design) and men of shorter heights, who can appreciate the accessibility of a smaller truck. Ford researched and found a hole in the market. They found a large demographic who wanted something that nobody was making, and Ford decided to make it for them. It was an absolute homerun and a lesson that will probably be taught in marketing classes and seminars someday. The Maverick is for people who basically want a daily driver economy car that will occasionally carry some larger stuff for gardening, DIY projects, and hauling smaller equipment, gear, and medium-sized payloads. I don't understand why people keep comparing the revival of the compact truck segment to full-size trucks. You can't even compare the new compact truck segment to the old compact trucks. Americans have let it be known in no uncertain terms that they simply despise single cab trucks, and they absolutely refuse to buy them. Americans would rather have a truck with a 2 foot long bed than give up even an inch of their precious cabin space. Americans want trucks while at the same time hating the essence of "real trucks" which means a small, useable cabin and a big bed. Like it or not, the Maverick checked off all the boxes that it's heavily researched target demographic wanted, and thats why they've been selling the sh*t out of them. Americans want them, period. The Toyota Stout and the Ram Rampage are coming next, so get used to it.
I'm looking to get a Ridgeline. It checks all of the boxes for me. I don't intend to ever tow anything substantial or do off-roading. I just need a truck to haul items from the hardware store etc. I looked at the lower tiered F150, it lacks a lot of the amenities and tech that I want. I also find the fit and finish of most American car interiors to be sub-par to their foreign counterparts. A friend of mine owns a Jeep Gladiator. We took a 4 hour road trip to the beach in it and it was the most uncomfortable thing to ride in. I find most Jeep owner to be pretentious. They buy it simply for the masculine cool factor, yet never use it for what it is really designed for - off-roading.
I bought a Titan P4X over everything else. But I plan on owning it until it falls apart. The interior is very nice, all the tech and comforts, with the legendary Nissan V8 reliability. No auto start stop, no cylinder deactivation, no forced induction.
Alright.... i will say and bought a f150 lightning. Walked out the door $40K. They completely bought out my ford transit loan. No down payment 18K off. With the right set up at home and what you use it for. It was a totally win. (I use the truck for my electrical business running to jobsites all over. I drive over 100 miles a day. Cheaper then paying $400 on gas a month.
A big truck uses a lot of gas. Guessing you just plug it in every night and have 80% charge every day for cheap. Are truck buyers really towing like they say they are? Probably not, 95% of use is around town. With the Tesla supercharger network now available to fords it makes a lightning far more common sense choice.
@joecushman6030 It really is. There is a charging station right behind my house. 1 minute walk from charger to my house. I plug in almost every night. 1 month max is $62 a month to recharge. ($2 a charge) worth it.
For you it seems like it really worked out! I was interested but I have to tow for my side business and sometimes have to drive 60 miles+ one way. My regular 9-5 has me driving all over the state so electric isn’t feasible. I’m hoping to grab one in the future though just for small local trips!
@@dpascal95 I think they will some out with better things.... maybe. So F150 lightning standard = 240MPG $58K F150 lightning extended = 320 MPG $70K Chevy silverado 450MPG $75K I'm actually a Chevy guy. But for the price....yea...
My neighbor has a new, 2023 Honda Ridgeline bought as a light utility vehicle. They don't tow but do run back and forth to Home Depot and haul their kids to school sports events, but admit they paid too much for what it is. I like the Gladiator, a friend owns a new 2023 Rubicon which had a $20,000.00 discount because it had a very expensive upfit kit added to the original price. The color is gorgeous, Snazzberry, and it is a looker. That said, it is a Pavement Princess, not bought for off-roading, but if you can afford it, more power to you. One of our vendors at work bought a GMC Hummer and HATES the Truck! Not only was it expensive, it has been a major problem as far as reliability.
I got my fully loaded 2019 Ridgeline RTL-E for 34k in 2019 NEW. Best deal I ever did, 70k trouble free miles and counting. Thanks Honda, some people need an SUV with a bed. Can’t imagine anyone getting deals like that nowadays. It’s a terrible time to buy new trucks.
Totally wrong on the gladiator. Its very unique its the only mid size on the market only one with solid axles front and rear. Agreed on all the others.
I love my RL. The people who buy them are not interested in the other. They can't match the ride or handling. No turbo crap. Buttery smooth V6. Had RAM 1500 before. I do miss the Hemi but that's it.
u wont miss the mpg. Rode v8s since I was a kid. Now its pointless to have a huge gas guzzler unless your towing, but you want a smaller truck in your middle ages while still wanting a truck frame.
I agree with your assessment. I’m in my 60’s & have had my share of “real trucks”. I did my research & test drives, and chose the RL & I enjoy it every time I drive it. Cheers!
the xd made it what a whole 3-4 years and when the cummins went in that was a big flop, I was actually looking forward to them and worked for an auto group as a buyer I bought one for the store and drove it for a week and wouldn't let it be put on the lot. I had a heck of a time getting rid of it. Every auto maker has good trucks and bad same with the cars. I will admit it coming from a gm family where my grandpa and all my uncle retired from there, I am a ford guy and the biggest let down was the lightning. The first gen was good but second was great and now the 3rd gen why ford why. The could have had a regular lightning with the coyote and twin turbos or a twin screw. Then if you wanted an electric lightning do a lightning e and give people an option.
I live in a city of around 120k. My local Toyota dealership has 31 Tundra's on the lot. The word is out apparently. As for the Ridgeline it's going to be fine for going to the local garden store. Most people who own a pickup don't do anything serious with their truck. Something like 90% of these vehicles will never see so much as a gravel road. I currently own a pickup however my next vehicle won't be a pickup.
True With my 2010 Tacoma with the short cab and longer bed, I only put something in the bed of my pickup truck maybe three times a year . And every other year, I might pull a trailer. With my 2018 Tacoma with its shorter bed, it is a pure passenger vehicle . The great thing about both of those trucks of mine, is that they are 4x4 and great in the winter. And that's the main reason I bought one.
That and auto makers are greedy and only want to build top end models. Most of us can't afford a $100,000 truck. How about bring back base models which regular people can actually afford? Government CAFE standards pretty much make that impossible though. Democrats did that.
I find your videos amusing as you are basically looking at it as one size fits all and much of it is your personal preferences. Also you are not factually correct on pricing, one example is showing a Jeep Gladiator Rubicon and saying it is over $65,000, you are way high on that one! Bottom line you guys are very opiniated sharing very little factual in formation.
@@JK-mg8vt guess you were the one not paying attention, they showed the dealer ADM sticker. Please tell me you actually know what ADM is. Do you honestly not know the difference of a factory sticker and one with ADM?
Why is lightning in this list. It isn’t for everyone but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t a superior truck for others. I have a buddy that’s a construction manager and here in Vancouver all he does is drive from site to site in rush hour traffic but needs a truck for work. He saved 14k in gas in just 6 months. He went from 25L/100km, 9.4 miles a gallon to $18 supercharge or $4 charge at home. He’s got 8 years of warranty on battery and motors. When he goes his boat he loses a lot of range but it’s technically free to drive. He loves his lightning and the reason he got it is because he saw how much I loved and saved my my Mach E
I agree. I'm not a tree hugger...I own a V8 Land Rover and gas cost about $400 a month that's a good about towards a new lighting payment, not to mention less repairs and maintenance. No matter what most cars and especially trucks are way over price and full of electronics and hard ro work on. Another thing I like about the lighting...no air suspensions. Just good old independent coils.
Every argument against an EV’s is the battery. Most of the information is outdated and wrong, the reliability is far greater and the cost is about half from even 2 years ago. An 8 year battery warranty is the industry standard, so that’s not a valid issue. So why do they constantly rant about EV’s… don’t know. After they spend time towing with their ICE truck they will be stressed and broke.
@@joecushman6030Why the constant ranting? A lot of ignorance and misinformation. If smartphones had been politicized and made to be evil by one political party or group of idiots, it would be the same with smartphones and tablet computers.
I'm not in the market for any truck, but I really enjoyed the video! Cool that you did this with your sister. I think I'll subscribe just to see what you come up with next. Cheers, B
I bought a Ford Maverick Hybrid last month for under sticker and haven’t had any issues with it. I think it’s a solid truck that suits my needs. I don’t think if you buy a Maverick you’re “dumb and hate money” but whatever ya’ll say 🤷🏻♂️
Just hit 40k miles in my 2020 gladiator overland. Upgraded the wheels and tires and now it’s pretty much a prefect truck. Plenty of power, zf 8 speed trans, nice interior, smooth ride, great looks, top is always off, zero issues with it. I also use it like a truck daily. Plenty of bed space and can haul full size sheets of plywood. No complaints!
I don't understand the criticisms of the gladiator. Its longer wheelbase is a marginal disadvantage compared to the wrangler, but they have the exact same stock ride height as a wrangler. And way more storage space. You can seat the same number of people, plus haul stuff around. You don't want a full-width 8ft bed on an offroad truck, either. If you want a rock crawler brand new from the dealer, you have to go buy an AEV-outfitted wrangler or gladiator. They basically moved the goalposts on ground clearance. And also contradicted themselves on the bed length vs wheelbase. "The gladiator's wheelbase is too long" but also "it doesn't have a full size bed". Pick one. You can't have both. If you need a full size bed, then you don't need an offroad vehicle. You need a full size pickup.
Also, they claim "they shrunk the grille". Lol no, they didn't. The grille is the same size. The headlights were made bigger - they went from 7" round to 9" round, hence the indentations on the outer grille openings. And the grille openings are bigger than on the JK.
Been towing 5000 lbs for 15 years. My Ridge. The dealer will negotiate the add ins way down. Ram. And Ford. Yes all the power you need for how long. Trucks are subjective. Buy what meets YOUR NEEDS. not two people in a parking lot on Sunday repeating what others have already said.
@@Mustangg16 And then after the warranty...? I'm 41 years old. When I started driving, 35k was a whole new car. Warranties are often 60k miles or less and 5 years or less for many car parts. That's way too soon to buy something like this. People will have to get battery insurance!!!
Um yea no one, but it's not like you need to replace it in a year. 10 year warranty... so yea. Stop freaking out. Do your research before you buy something, and you will be fine. Batteries are expensive, period. Especially because they aren't being produced by the manufacturer so yea.
Have a 2016 Titan XD. Multiple cross country road trips. No issues other than routine maintenance. I've owned F250 / Ram / Duramax before this and for my buck this truck beats em all. But instead of doing your own research we should all definitely listen to this non clickbait TH-camr. I mean, it would be foolish not too! Anyways, guess I'll just be one of these *dumb" people and keep moving along. Have a nice day!
You're correct, the Ford Lightning is a joke.. You tow for 90 miles and then you're unhooking, recharging for 30 minutes, hooking back up again, driving 90 more miles, unhooking, recharging for 30 minutes, repeat until you finally arrive where you're going. And if you're going up a mountain? Good luck finding a recharging station once you get there!
How many people tow for long distances? I own one but don't tow. I use it for my business and serve my local area so range is not an issue. Also, I run tools at the work site so the on board power allows me to get rid of the noisy gas generator I hauled around. It costs me 1/6th of what a ICE vehicle cost to drive and the on board poer allows me to run tools for a fraction of the cost. The Lightning is not for someone that tows campers long distances or takes many long trips every year, but it works for the rest of us, Oh, and by the way, I no longer spend about 10 hours a year fueling up at a gas station. I just plug it into my level 2 chaarger at home and I'm good to go in the morning.
Pick up a 1 year old Titan. Depreciation accounted for, bumper to bumper 100k warranty standard. Chevy head the lighter issue on all new trucks almost GUARANTEED to fail.
Just clicked over 300k miles on my 2008 Chevy Silverado. Has the 4.8 V8, which was rebuilt about 50k miles ago. Original cost about 22k in ‘08. It’s a little rough on the outside, but I look after it mechanically. Wish you could get something like this new now, versus the over-priced, unproven, and probably unreliable stuff available now. Thanks for the channel….one of my favs.
You are wrong about the Honda. Base is $39,000. Tows 5,000 lbs, but its payload is 1,500 lbs. payload is better than many 3/4 ton trucks. Standard V6, AWD, torque vectoring, 26 mpg hwy.
There are no older vehicles with electric drive train. I will never ever buy a fossil powered vehicle again! I rather wait for the manufacturers to produce clean vehicles.
I have a 2023 honda Ridgeline. I will never go off road in it or tow over 5000 pounds, which it can do. If you have set in a ridgeline you would see it has more room than most any midsize truck. I love mine, and as a bonus, it will still be running long after most if these others are at the sale barn. Drive the ridgeline and you will change your mind unless your a mud/hillbilly
I agree. I had a 2013 Titan that got totaled last year by a Cadillac that T-Boned me at 55 mph. It knocked me out and I was sore from the seat belts, but other than that I was not injured. The truck didn't have one single problem in 13 years. Not one.
I bought a new titan in 2004 LE king cab when they first came out mad loved it. However, in 2011, some clown coming toward me decided to make a left turn and it was totaled. . Luckily the clown had insurance . I bought a 2011 Titan and still have it. SL crew cab 4x4, They are great trucks.
I had a 19 GMC Sierra AT4 & it was pure garbage. I then got a 22 Frontier Pro4x & LOVED it; especially after my 3" Koni lift. Then I jumped up to a loaded 23 Titan Pro4x. The Titan is a horse. It may be seen as "dated," but it's fully functional & I didn't want the turbo nightmare that came with the newer Tundras. Plus, 10k off, 0% for 60 months & a 5 year 100k mile BUMPER to BUMPER warranty was a no brainer
I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now. Tesla makes updates by the week instead of making big changes in a model year transition like everyone else does.
@@ryang3751 Not anymore, a lot of preordered were cancelled so the wait isn't so long now. I like the front end but hate the back end and thinks it looks like they forgot to finish designing it. It looks homemade. I like the interior, the performance and the technology, except maybe for the steer by wire. I get that it's been used on planes forever, but those get inspected by trained technicians before every trip. Cars, not so much. People hit curbs and potholes and rodents chew wires. My 21 year old F150 with 240K miles has the odometer flicker on and off at time, and sometimes the AC takes a minute to kick on when you first drive it, and that's expected on an old vehicle. Can you imagine when a CT gets old and has a flicker on the BUS that controls the steering? No steering for a moment. Mercedes had some models with full brake by wire in the early 2000s and they were a disaster. I think Merc. didn't really have a fix so they just extended the warranty to 25 years or some ridiculous number and will put the same faulty part back in, assuming the car survived sudden loss of braking. I'd lease or buy one to play with for a few years, but it would be a toy and not a work truck. It's not really intended to be more than a status symbol. Of course, cars made now probably won't still be on the road in 20 years. They will be mechanically totaled by battery failure or gearbox failure that will exceed the value after depreciation. The only exception is if the aftermarket comes up with a solution, but so far they seem hesitant due to the liability of it all.
As far as I knew LoJack wasn't GPS enabled unless something has changed. They simply emitted a low level signal when activated which police can track by dedicated receivers in cop cars. Again, things may have changed.
It doesn't matter, almost all cars track you now and even if yours doesn't, your phone is. GM's OnStar was just caught selling driver data to insurance companies, I'm sure that Chrysler's Uconnect does the same. GasBuddy app and most likely GPS apps all track you and use your data (Maps and Waze are both owned by Google). Big brother is always watching.....
I've owned four pickups, two chevys and one F150 and 2017 Ridgeline. The Honda was by far the most satisfying experience. What's wrong with comfort and reliability if you don't go rock crawling or own a fifth wheel trailer. Not a single problem for 60K miles. Not to mention the dry hauling that the flip up back seat area and built in trunk provided along with your bed. Not all truck owners have the same needs. It handles the midwest ice and snow like a dream with its AWD. Great truck for non contractors.
The Titan may not be selling well in his location. But the Titan is selling very well in most places. All in all people are buying the Titan because it still has a V8 engine.
I want just a standard cab, 6' bed, with a 4 cylinder engine. Preferably NOT a Ford. I will not buy a Tundra, since they have defective engines. They are overpriced too. The new Tacomas are overpriced even higher. I called my usual salesperson for a new Tacoma 4 months ago. I gave him the list of what I wanted, and was quoted a $67,000 price! I told him I know you are kidding, now give me the real price. He told me, the dealership is marking them up by $8,000. I told him forget it, I will buy a NISSAN instead. I had patronized that dealership and salesperson for over 10 years, but because of these scams that TOYOTA is pulling, I will NEVER BUY ANOTHER TOYOTA TRUCK AGAIN!!!! SHOVE IT TOYOTA!!!!!!!
Bought a SR5 Tacoma for 40k, 4x4. Nice truck. They originally wanted 46k for it but was able to talk them down. If the price for the truck isn't 5% of what is on Toyota's website, walk out, tell them you want the price or something similar on the website, and to contact you when they can do it.
Maverick: talking about things that a re-flash fixed and grabby brakes that were only on '22 models. Wow, the amount of scare tactics these two use is astonishing.
I owned four Grand Cherokees, not including my 2023 GC Summit Hemi. We still own our 2004, 2013, and 2017 GCs driven by other family members. They have ALL been stellar vehicles. That said, I would like somebody else to take over Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/RAM, and kick Stellantis to the curb.
@@jamesmyers9285 I have a 14' Grand Cherokee Summit with the Ecodiesel. Worst reliability of any car I've ever owned. It's a great driving vehicle, gets great mileage and gets tons of compliments, but that engine should never have been used with US fuel and emissions systems. Mine grenaded at 64k miles and my extended warranty has paid over $22k in repairs since warranty expired. I'm guessing FCA/Stellantis paid about that much during warranty too. It is too bad as I think they have been innovative with the high performance engines and cool tech in many of their vehicles, but the cost cutting, low bidder parts is ridiculous.
@@LanceEJones I don't think it was ever as bad as that. I live in a non emissions inspection state where I'm sure I'd notice when there were offending vehicles in front of me. I know for a fact there are a number of examples. The exception being diesels and the rare oil burner.
I don’t agree with your statement on towing with ridgeline. My dad has a ridgeline with a 22ft camper. Has been to Colorado and many other places with it with no problems. Has a max tow of 5000lbs
I drive a 2012 Nissan frontier it has no touch screens minor electrical BS and no trinkets and I couldn't be happier just a reliable truck. All these new turbo 4 bangers can stay on the lot if you ask me I want a long lasting truck that's it.
Missed the mark on the Ridgeline. It tows 5k and hauls over 1500. On par with some other trucks. I've hauled much more than a small U-haul with no issues. You know not of what you speak.
I always had a truck just to drive a truck, not because I hauled anything. Over time I have gotten over that and just settled for what I had to. Just bought a 2025 Buick Envista ST. 27k brand new with 6 mi on the odo. Small engine, but it gets me where I need to go, it didnt break my bank account, and they look slick as hell IMO. Even base model F-150s and Silverados have left me to another market. Affordability.
You did not mention that the Titan is the most reliable truck with a 5-year bumper-to-bumper warranty. You can't go wrong with the V8. The bottom line is Titan is not for showing off. It's for getting the job done!
I think your point about the ridge line is kinda moot. 90% of truck drivers don’t even haul, so you’re only really addressing the minority of real truck enthusiasts.
Most people I know with trucks fill the bed and back seats with their tools and equipment for work & tow stuff, not because they watched the cowboy show and bought a cowboy hat , a flannel shirt and a truck to LARP
Agree 100%. This guy always cocks a snoot at the Ridgeline, but it’s a great vehicle. He whines it’s not very powerful, however it also doesn’t get 14 MPG like a full size.
@@Grey-RockMy Duramax dually gets 31mpg on the freeway. I don’t know what you are talking about. Just tune them and they do way better than the EPA ruined factory tune. FYI, a ridgeline is front wheel drive, that means it’s not a truck, it’s a minivan.
I'm shocked that you were negative on the ridgeline. I don't have one, and don't plan to buy one, but they are very spacious, mu h more practical as compared to 1500 size trucks, and probably the most reliable truck option right now. I agree they are not as "trucky" as a regular truck, but they are FAR more practical for the Everyman....and it's not even close. But i admit, I'm only not interested because it not as "trucky" looking.
I was at the EV chargers in Baker Cali. 3 Rivians rolled up and bricked when they tried to charged them. I mentioned this on the Tesla forums and got banned. They don't want to hear it.
All I see are Vivian's where I live, no lightings. 3 EV Hummers. Lots of EV Cars on the road, we only have a population of 100,000 and surrounded by farms. I am looking at Motorcycles, they have come down in price. Charging is fast, 6 minutes and better range the gas powered bikes.
@@austingrrr5191 We're in a similar size city also with farms around. We got our first two chargers (that I'm aware of) this year. No one is ever there. What really bothers me the most about charging is that I've never seen nor heard of chargers at lodgings which pretty much eliminates overnight travel with an EV.
@joewoodchuck3824 I think more malls need to jump on charging stations too. We have superchargers at our mall, just 2, but the city has been putting them in at the big parks. For the past 5 years, all new homes have had to be built with charging already to go. The owner of my gym rides an EV Motorcycle and sells them too. I get to drool everyday when I go in. Infrastructure is behind in North America. Charly Boorman and Ewan McGregor did their last big ride from the tip of South American to Hollywood on Electric Harley Davidsons and Rivian Support trucks.
You are correct. Apparently Truck Companies should consult these guys before spending more money developing trucks.
Agree with you !
You make too much sense on that maverick comment. I have an old v6 2007 tundra with an 8 foot bed because that's what I needed at the time. Now I'd be perfectly happy with a small bed truck that's good on gas. The only thing stopping me from buying another truck is my old tundra won't die.
That's 4 minutes of my life I'll never get back.

It really is an awesome Truck. People who have never owned a Ridgeline don't realize how awesome it is. I love Ridgelines .
I love Hondas for all the reasons that you mentioned in your comment. In my opinion, they should bring Isuzu back. What are your thoughts on that?

I agree for the most part but it is true that Nissan is unfortunately discontinuing the Titan and it does put it at a significant disadvantage for people looking to settle on a brand.
Facts, they don’t know anything about the Titan 😂😂😂
Range is impacted by the drag coefficient of a trailer more than weight of the load as speed increases.

And not a real truck.

IMO that towing package is a bargain at about $700. You'd pay more to upgrade the oil cooler, radiator, differential, etc. to roll your own towing package even if you did it yourself.

My buddy found a new stock 2023 Gladiator Rubicon in Kansas for 42k. The dealership threw in a bunch of free stuff to get rid of it as well...
Tow and haul is the only reason someone should buy a truck.
Except they now can be luxury vehichles. You dont have to buy them. Basic packages are still available.
Agreed, Just ordered a 2024 Maverick XLT AWD for all the same reasons.
I think I’ll just stick with my 2014 Titan Pro4x hasn’t let me down yet.
And don't forget the 5 year, 100K bumper-to-bumper warranty!
Alright.... i will say and bought a f150 lightning.

I had a heck of a time getting rid of it. Every auto maker has good trucks and bad same with the cars. I will admit it coming from a gm family where my grandpa and all my uncle retired from there, I am a ford guy and the biggest let down was the lightning.
True
With my 2010 Tacoma with the short cab and longer bed, I only put something in the bed of my pickup truck maybe three times a year .
And every other year, I might pull a trailer.
With my 2018 Tacoma with its shorter bed, it is a pure passenger vehicle .
The great thing about both of those trucks of mine, is that they are 4x4 and great in the winter.
And that's the main reason I bought one.

Why is lightning in this list. It isn’t for everyone but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t a superior truck for others.
MOST people who buy trucks will rarely actually use them for truck things or come close to using the rated capability.

That LoJack is a GPS tracking device from the dealer. Scam. They track you. Tell them to remove it if they refuse find another dealer.
Not to mention, after a year the annual suscription for LoJack is yours to pay if you want to keep it.
The Nissan is the best truck for the money and best looking.
Money, wise, it's a good buy.
It doesn't look nice to me.
It’s been discontinued.
@@icosthop9998 Ugly truck, and I don't care for Nissans and their tranny's
It wasn’t that long ago he was espousing the virtues of the titan and recommending it to viewers. Now he’s saying stay away from it.
100%
The BEST truck to buy is the 2024 Nissan Titan Pro-4x/XD!!
Agree… bought mine last Monday. $10K off sticker & 0% for 60 months.
As the original owner of a '14 GC, I will never buy anything made by Stellantis; I suggest you consider doing the same.
@@jamesmyers9285 My 2010 V6 Charger is still alive and kicking.
@@jamesmyers9285 I agree with that but I'm not sure what's going to be left after Stellantis is done...
Ford needs to drop the price on those Lightnings to $39k 😂
Lol they already have a $39k version. It's the base model and it's been out. He just forgot to put that info in lol
The price will soon drop like a rock. EVs are DOA.
No they don't need to lower the price they need to throw them in the f****** junk pile good luck suckers lol lol lol....
More like $19-29k.
Thanks epa and government, can't just have simple reliable vehicles anymore. Over engineering and epa crap is ruining the auto industry
Don't forget all the technology.
@@johnsmith7676 💯
They're just using the emissions "issue" to push their EV agenda.
It's nice to drive behind a car and not cough.
I’m a Toyota guy and own a Tundra, but if I were in the market for a midsize truck, I’d probably buy the Frontier instead of the Tacoma.
Missed the mark on the Ridgeline. It tows 5k and hauls over 1500. On par with some other trucks. I've hauled much more than a small U-haul with no issues. You know not of what you speak.
Ridgeline owners appreciate the utility and comfort it offers!!!! And yes, it does tow 5000 lbs. and has AWD. I absolutely love mine!!!!!
Oh boy. 5k pounds. What a truck! 😂
1st Gen Titans were on point.
Tundra isn’t suffering from a design or wear issue. It’s debris in the block that wasn’t cleaned out by the vendor during the manufacturing process.
You did not mention that the Titan is the most reliable truck with a 5-year bumper-to-bumper warranty. You can't go wrong with the V8. The bottom line is Titan is not for showing off. It's for getting the job done!
I wish you Titan owners would quit telling people the truth about these great trucks. You are going to make the resale value go up!!
Ppl that actually use a pickup to do pickup things is now an "enthusiast" 😂😂
@@jroda8015 well by definition, yes they are, but I get your point. I'm using the word literally and not as a moniker.
Perma Plate is like a spray wax they apply in their car wash and allow you to re-apply every 6 months it's a rip off.
Every 6 months? Doesn't sound very "Perma" to me🙂
I'm shocked that you were negative on the ridgeline.
Just sneaking around dealerships on Sunday and doing videos without getting into any cars 😂😂 poor guy 😂😂
I was at the EV chargers in Baker Cali. 3 Rivians rolled up and bricked when they tried to charged them. I mentioned this on the Tesla forums and got banned. They don't want to hear it.
What is bricked?
The legacy of the trip was all the charging stations put on the Pan American Highway. It's coming, we are just behind Europe and other places.
I wouldn't to be stuck in Baker In the middle of the summer.
Now do 8 trucks that smart people buy.
Can’t because there aren’t
There aren’t any.
A pre-2019 used one? LOL Are there any?
He cant. He hates everything.
Toyota trucks with low miles pre 2010s
Honda Ridgeline is not a truck. It is an SUV with a truck bed.
