I'm currently shopping around for a full size truck to purchase by the end of the year roughly. The mid-sized trucks don't suit my needs. I'm comparing all brands right now and pricing. My main things that I'm looking for are space in the back seat, 3 children with car seats and booster seats. Also for hauling my fishing gear and towing a kayak on a trailer or in the bed in the future. Any recommendations
What engine? I prefer a V8 over a turbo v6. It seems easy to work on and find parts for. Also no turbo, I am also looking at used. Suggestions as far as engine, trim, and, reliability? Chevy, Ford since the V8 are out?
I used to be a Ford man from many years. Then, I discovered Toyota… fell in love! A few years back, my tundra was totaled by some moron… my dad had an 06’ Silverado hanging around and drove it for 3 years before it died. Looking at getting a new one and I’m utterly disappointed with the decisions the manufacturers are making……looking like Titan might be the best option!
I'm considering a truck and the GMC does look much better to me than the Chevy, but I realize that's subjective. I also like the look of the Ram and the interiors seem much nicer in the Ram. Not a huge fan of the Ford, but I should check it out.
Hi! I’m thinking of getting a preowned full-sized pickup truck as daily work truck. I have a commute of 40 mile one-way (1.5 hrs) then another 1hr drive home in horrid SoCal traffic. I haul mostly network cabling installation equipment in the bed, and do not tow. What brand, model year, engine and grade do you recommend? I would like to have some of the newer active safety features such as the automatic emergency braking system to avoid front collisions, but not as critical as long-term reliability and durability. Any suggestions for a late model pickup truck with Direct and Port Injection. Also, what immediate and affordable engine and transmission mods for reliability and durability do you recommend to protect the powertrain? I’m not looking for more power, just long-term reliability and durability as I don’t have too much money and need a truck for work and personal use. Thank you!
How does the moisture ventilate when the top is completely seeped shut with the reflective layer and then the insulation. You don’t leave any room for air and moisture to escape?
If I lived in the high country, I'd buy a Ford with the 3.5 ecoboost. Turbo engines don't lose as much performance at high altitudes as normally aspirated. I say Ford because they have been making that engine for 14 years.

Its not an issue if they dont fix it, mine is pretty nice except when its not and dealer wont agree with me that something doesnt feel right so i guess those issues wont be reported
I don’t believe trucks are better than ever. Used to be you could buy most brands and they’d last a long time can’t say that anymore. I’ll take reliability and durability over tech every time. Even Toyota sold its soul.
@@defmc1 they’re getting rid of it because the egghead consumers of the American truck market love overpaying for Toyota and the big 3. The irony of the situation is the current Titan v8 engine is still the most reliable power train of any full size gas truck sold in the American market.

Not sure if they are paying you to say that but there is no way those 4 bangers or even 6 have a better driving experience than an 8. The six may make similar power (unless the 8 is supercharged) but just do not feel the same. The smaller engines just sound crappy. The manufacturers want people to believe that they are great so they can continue selling vehicles because they know the EPA is riding them hard.

My Ram has spent more time in the shop than on the road.
I can’t even sell it at this point. Still not fixed after 6 weeks.
Once it’s fixed I’m immediately sellers!!!
Nissan Titan is discontinued for MY 2025. There is still a 2024 MY Titan.
And it’s probably the most reliable truck.
I love the Titan. Love my 5.0 but if anything were to happen to it I think a Titan would be a great replacement.
My 19 titan sv 4x4 has been a good truck, with the exception of:
-Depreciation value
-Terrible aftermarket support
-Seats are uncomfortable in my opinion
I first bought a 2012 f150 fx2 5.0, then traded it in for a 2014 f150 king ranch 5.0, that got destroyed by tree falling on it a month later. I got a 2014 fx4 5.0 that i traded in a year ago for a 2023 f150 5.0 lariat.
11 years of F150s with zero trips to the mechanic, besides tires. I hope they keep the 5.0. Its reliable.
What year would you recommend for someone buying their first truck
I drive a ram, it’s pretty nice
Me too 👍🏾
Wait till 100k miles.
@@Alejandro_C62 have had 2 at 200k , what's the problem?
@@claysmurthwaite2386 what year are/ were they? I had a 2014 5.7 Ram 1500 R/T Sport, developed lifter failure at 100K. Damn shame it was a great 2 door truck.
I heard the Ford V8 Coyote engine now has cylinder deactivation. Have you heard of any issues?
I would like to see how the titan does in comparison
Why? It doesn’t exist anymore.
No kidding ? Then why am I seeing 2024's ?@@Pickuptrucktalk
@@indycharlielast model rolling out
I'm currently shopping around for a full size truck to purchase by the end of the year roughly.
Lots of good options. They all work for what you posted.
Which one is the quietest interior for highway driving?
What engine? I prefer a V8 over a turbo v6. It seems easy to work on and find parts for. Also no turbo, I am also looking at used. Suggestions as far as engine, trim, and, reliability? Chevy, Ford since the V8 are out?
Does GM offer cloth seats on their mid trims and up? Maybe those will be more comfortable for you. I know I love cloth seats.
Enjoying my trouble free 2021 F150
What about the Chev 6.6 gas engine? Maybe I missed that.
Great engine for sure, but it's only available on the HD trucks, not the half ton models reviewed here.
Been great for me. And better track record than the 7.3 over at ford
For performance go 6.2 if you need economy go 3.0 diesel or split difference with 5.3
I'm considering a truck and the GMC does look much better to me than the Chevy, but I realize that's subjective.
Thank you!
you should do Heavy duty trucks as well
Absolutely. Half ton market is now just an suv with a (small) bed.
@@pryme2013 that's true I hope someday things will be back to being somewhat affordable till then I'll keep on dreaming that
Doesn’t the 2024 tundra had issues with metal shavings in the engine? How can you call that reliable?
you can build a 24 now, i went on the ford site today...
How does the moisture ventilate when the top is completely seeped shut with the reflective layer and then the insulation. You don’t leave any room for air and moisture to escape?
One comment the RST lines up with the Elevation package.
which one has the best reliability ?
This is 30mins of my life I will never get back!
Thanks for watching!
If I lived in the high country, I'd buy a Ford with the 3.5 ecoboost. Turbo engines don't lose as much performance at high altitudes as normally aspirated. I say Ford because they have been making that engine for 14 years.
SO GLAD I am not in the market for a truck now. While performance is truly incredible, prices are Insane and I'll just say the aesthetics don't do anything for me on any of them 😖
They all look 5x better with a 2 inch level and 33-34 inch tires. My 5th gen ram looked okay stock, now I see people all the time just staring at it. It’s the most beautiful truck I’ve ever had and I’ve had like 8 trucks lol
We all know Ford is the best, I have a 94 F-350 7.3 5 speed dual rear wheels, a 85 F-250 6.9 and a 05 F-150 5.4, I love them all.
Well... I was drawn into this video by "which one is best?" 30 minutes later, the question remains unanswered. That's numerous cycles of respiration and fired neurons that were wasted. Did I miss it?
As far as reliability all these makes were more reliable in the early 2000s
Ram has come a long way since 2019 the best rides like a mercedes
I'm looking for a full size truck, 6' bed, I'm 6'5". My kids are tall too so room in the back. I'm not going to use it to tow.
There is no way the Ram is the most reliable truck ?? I know too many people who own them even the newer trucks from 2019 on and they have plenty of issues.
Its not an issue if they dont fix it, mine is pretty nice except when its not and dealer wont agree with me that something doesnt feel right so i guess those issues wont be reported
Chrysler and reliability do NOT belong in the same sentence. Period.
I bought a new 2005 Dodge Magnum Hemi, drove it 17 yrs, 122,000 miles and it had very few minor problems. I loved that car.
I don’t believe trucks are better than ever. Used to be you could buy most brands and they’d last a long time can’t say that anymore. I’ll take reliability and durability over tech every time. Even Toyota sold its soul.
A 2.7 liter turbo charged 4 cylinder is not a small engine, for being a 4 cylinder its actually a big engine there are 2.5liter engines that are v6
You know it’s ram all the way 😂 TRX like mine is staying for years to come as bulletproof way over built
Ummm…the correct answer, is “Titan.”
😂
That is why Nissan is getting rid of it. Bye bye.
@@defmc1 they’re getting rid of it because the egghead consumers of the American truck market love overpaying for Toyota and the big 3. The irony of the situation is the current Titan v8 engine is still the most reliable power train of any full size gas truck sold in the American market.
"Customers get a better driving experience with more low-end torque".
I have a 2016 high country. Meticulous on maint and the 75 k dollar pos is falling apart.
Never again in a gm
I thought you were gonna talk about your driving experience
How about getting some real world feedback from truck owners.. if I want specs, I can read a brochure!
Truck prices are Ridiculous.
$60 to $80k for two rails and a bed??? You can keep em!
People want turbos in their vehicles until the realize the cost that comes with it. Put V8s back in trucks!
Toyotas V6 twin turbo experiencing massive engine failures. No thanks.
I think the Chevy LTZ is the closest thing to the sierra slt
Toyota has always had terrible cheap boring interiors. If they would up that area they would be more competitive.
So tent and camper? Mmkay… sure.
Glossed over too much at the end. Enjoyed the vid overall though.
I’m a Toyota driver… 2019 Tundra… i love it, but i will say, Toyota fucked up with then new platform. Not only is it Ugly as sin.. but the mpg they were hoping to improve didn’t really happen in “real world testing”. The new tundra is also extremely over-priced.

Newer trucks aren't more efficient. There isn't a single midsize truck that gets anywhere close to 31mpg that my 1988 Carbureted Toyota truck gets.

Just the way I say it. I’ve tried pronouncing it the right way and it isn’t easy.

Half ton the GMC is the best. Heavy duty trucks, Ford takes it and its not close. The Ford is built so much better than the competition.
Funny, Ford CEO, and the board admitted to quality issues, and CR not recommended to buy. Sure😂
@@JIPlatium they did admit it, and they spent $1 billion in 2023 alone on Super Duty quality checks during assembly to rectify the issues.
@@cstgx yet 2023 is the model they didn't recommend
@JIPlatium their recommendation means less than nothing to me. I know more about all the vehicles than any of their reviewers. I've driven them all too, on a regular basis. As well as seen the results of fleet maintenance records for hundreds of trucks.
