- They're unseen but deadly. The snipers are part of the elite forces of the SAF, trained to take out key enemy targets from concealed positions. Interesting! Infantry snipers... I thought snipers belong only to the Commandos. Great video!
Sniper don’t really belong to any unit. Snipers are selected and trained, then attached/posted to other units in the army. Less than 30 get selected every intake. It looks cool to be a sniper but actually it’s a strenuous and lonely job. Work in pairs, long walks, dead silence, can’t even snore when you sleep 😂

If you have watched the movie Saving Private Ryan, it is very tough if your hidden location is discovered by the enemy.
i know someone that is a sniper and i heard that they don't have to go back as reservist that often

@whymesosuay The marksman badge is 2 rifles crossed. The sniper badge is 2 rifles crossed with a star over it
@driftsilvia16 its all pre ordained usually. after bmt's SIT test, range and IPPT, from there snipers are already chosen and sent to SISPEC for Commander training and after which its straight to Sniper School. Only 24 a year are selected so...good luck!!
Imagine if SG has HK417's , the MSR or even a couple of .50's

Snipers feared very a good spotter that can identified artificial camouflage and killed them...
Okay, what are the criterion for entering? Like min Napfa, marksmanship, 50/50 vision... etc
The rifle theyre using is ssg 69.uses a 7.62 round.
US marines air drop snipers into a 5 mile radius of the shooting location if it is remote. So, I suppose it's somewhere of that sort?

they were trained to eat/drink at a certain time before going into missions.
from wad i noe.. there oni 2 tab, guards and rangers... no sniper tab.. at least for saf.. tts y they put it on their jungle hat.. marksman badge is diff for sniper coz in order for sniper to get the marksmen badge, they nid alot more score compared to us. and the test is diff frm ours... very diff...

Looks like a Remington 700/M40A1 to me. The magazine, barrel and trigger guard are very similar.

Commandos are a contained unit with different specializations/cross-trained skillsets within them so they sure got their own snipers.

@7777fresh Well they do. But most sniper targets are taken out at a long range, so a silencer wouldn't be necessary. people usually look out for the flash instead of where the sound is coming from. so instead they may use a flash suppressor?
meaning to say certain batches would not have any at all whereas others would have a good handful?

My friend went for sniper course after scs , he said only 14 selected per year. Afterwards he headed for gcc and became a Tekong spec.

What about the 7.62 L96, 8.6-0 L115 of the Accuracy international series, 7.62 APR, M110 of KA and HK PSG-1? I heard we bought those weapons too!
SAF uses the M110 as a platoon marksman rifle. I believe the snipers would be using the L115

Snipers around usually follow the spotter-shooter team. So, all these are kinda expected...

Why are people saying malays cannot join? Abit curious...what if a malay does not have the attitude of malay but is willing to accept a snipers training?

These 2 don't even have the sniper marksman badges on their left sleeves. Real snipers also don't normally walk around with the Sniper tab sewed on their Jungle hat. These are NSF's. definately not what we really have. The real ones definately can't be comparable to these 2.

@gta4mythbuster There's no choice in what they wear, they had to camouflaged themselves fully lest get spotted by the enemy. Same goes for every other NSFs who are on the ground less the gloves.

Scarlet Red B. Zero as a former sniper, we use the bolt action SSG69 because of the handicap it gives us. 1. it has no spring in the stock to cushion recoil which means we learn to automatically support and secure our rifles before we take a shot. 2. also the SSG69 being bolt action, means we make every shot count because we most likely do not have time to recorrect if we miss a shot.

So I'm depressed and don't think I can be in the SAF be cuz I dont really think the other vocation are suitable for me. But then ,I found out this Sniper Unit. And I really got interested in this Team. I just want to ask a few questions.
