Scouts always gets the first contact with the enemy. Hence their primary motive is to hit and run and gather information. The Wehrmacht employed scouts effectively in world war 2 and were always the first body of troops to hit the enemy before the main punch is made.
As a former-scout, imho, its not the weight that matters, its more of the kind of proper strength training that is in question... excercises such as millitary press and other core trainings should help establish a proper foundation. Its really common sense that if you can't carry something, you try to adapt. But proper steps should be taken, not just throw your viable assets into the field to get crushed by their own equipment. Equipments are good in my opinion. Very good.
Even so, continuous training with that amount of weight has dire consequences. I can't count how many of my friends have downgraded due to back and lower limb injuries. Currently the SAF is looking for ways to improve the situation like increasing the number of men in each team to share the weight. However, without actually reducing the load of the equipment we need to carry, I don't think it makes much difference.
I am a BIG Fan of cyberpioneertv.... Hopefully, cyberpioneertv will showcase PDF. I will love more pple to understand the sandbags, the trenches that we built... When we go exercise, its like the work of mini "Great Wall Of Singapore"...
The depictions in the video are mostly accurate. However, just to clarify, it's not entirely true that it's always as tough as that. The weight that recce elements have to carry do not usually go above 20kg and at max will be 25, most notably the signaller who has to bear the entire weight of the signal equipment.
are recce also attached to platoon as scouts for the platoons when advancing ? this videos shows I guess them scouting before the entire company / battalion can advance but im asking while advacing
im a scout myself and i strongly disagree that we carry the same amount of weight that a normal infantry tropper carrys. Ex Long walk is the toughest exercise ever for an NSF, bar JCC
I'm surprised cyberpioneer has not even featured CSLC. ( Commando Sectional Leader Course) The stuff we do's pretty the same as the GCC, recce troopers and we even possess Alice packs.
I don't think the uniform is his. If you see the name tag carefully, it says VINOD. Isn't he Mano? @nousdefions1984: fairly recently? I learnt how to use it and carried that 3 years ago
Kudos to the Scout..!! I can see they are one of the Important Units in War :D Good Job... Oh Is Mano still serving his NS? I See he belongs to Guards :)
@scimt i don't. my team were all professionals. there are always black sheeps around but its no indication to throw everyone under the bus. vast majority of scouts worked very hard to earn e recee tab and the jungle hat. i still have pride in mine. e blood sweat n tears are still fond in memories. Recce!
Recce dun wear stuff that obstruct vision or is pretty pointless. When a small grp of recce is ambushed deep in enemy territory....no amount of kevlar is gonna save their ass.
Can we please get rid of the protection bars on the recce bikes...they really make the bike more dangerous as they make the bikes handle like water buffalo!
we cannot compare the 70s, 80s, 90s training with the 2010... training programs had been changed to suit the new generation, it is not as tough as before. Both physically and mentally.

agreed. gym training is needed, not just a bunch of push-ups

Mano is a master sergeant of guards ? COOL.
Gentlemen, gentlemen. I didn't say 'stagger', I said staggered formation, not stagger.

@nousdefions1984: fairly recently? I learnt how to use it and carried that 3 years ago
@nousdefions1984 : Were you ever in recce? If not, then on what basis you think recce carry the same as an infantry man??!
Kudos to the Scout..!! I can see they are one of the Important Units in War :D Good Job... Oh Is Mano still serving his NS? I See he belongs to Guards :)
He was a guardsman but not serving NS anymore.

Change motorbike to e-scooter or e-bike, so enemy won’t hear the roaring engine and know u guys coming for them!!!
No need to walk so hard and so far bro
@cyberpioneertv I thought he was a Guardsman during active days.
@nousdefions1984 I think I have an idea who that borrowed uniform belongs to...
@nousdefions1984 showing of equipment = show of our forces capabilities. like all the vehicles we show during NPD...
Where are the POW training video?
malpuro classified
wa if that 1 show ah
Why are they not wearing helmets? I thought it is safer to wear one?
Recce dun wear stuff that obstruct vision or is pretty pointless. When a small grp of recce is ambushed deep in enemy territory....no amount of kevlar is gonna save their ass.
Wow didnt know that the saf had motorcycles!
Nice Sinn, Mano!
Can we please get rid of the protection bars on the recce bikes...they really make the bike more dangerous as they make the bikes handle like water buffalo!
@cyberpioneertv
yes of course...normal infantryman be it any country won't carry up 30kg, it will kill them in war with just the load ...
PMD better, more quiet .
u dunno what ur training for until u need it.
@scimt dont worry lah if there is a real war you wil have no choice but to be siao on...i hope my reservist liability will be over by then...
You should not have even show these videos at the very initial stage!!!
we cannot compare the 70s, 80s, 90s training with the 2010...
training programs had been changed to suit the new generation, it is not as tough as before. Both physically and mentally.
