honestly the difficulty of this game in the beginning is really symbolic in that it shows you how our ancestors didn't know anything when they first started out. The learning curve is really high in the beginning but once you grasp the concept the game becomes really fun and exploratory considering how huge the map is. Most reviewers really failed to understand the purposeful reason why its hard in beginning and don't give it enough credit for trying something new in the genre. You either hate this game or love it.
And the negatives most of these reviewers point out are really just things you need to learn how to deal with in the game. Jumping and evolving and fighting enemies can all be made easier once you learn how to optimize doing so.
For example, if you're frustrated with only being able to lock in a few neurons at a time, then start passing generations as soon as you've reached your lock-in max. That way you never lose a single neuron. You also get the added benefit of now having plenty of dead bodies from your elders for you and your new baby chimps to analyze and get tons of neuronal energy from.
I think I'm starting to get KC's review style more. He doesn't really push weather he liked or disliked the game, more if he liked each feature of the game and what it made him feel. Its cool, but is a little different in structure to all the other reviewers on the channel, even ZPs. Its useful i guess. As useful as a review can be at least.

This game suffers most from reviewers who dont know wtf they are talking about, which seems to be a majority of reviewers.
-There is no invisible luck stat, youre just doing it wrong. Its a quick time event. You release dodge when you hear the indicator. You will dodge/attack and succeed every time you do it correctly.
-You can unlock as many upgrades as you have children, max being 6. After your first generation you can just have more kids and inspect the elders bones for quickly locking in upgrades. You will still have to do tasks in the world to continue obtaining new unlocks.
-Different types of items will do things faster and as you upgrade its even faster. Mid/late game you are sharpening a stick in 1 hit with the right tool.
-Camera is close because you just started playing. It moves back further as you evolve and work your way towards walking on 2 feet.
-Sense upgrades are 100% worth it. Instead of inspecting 1 item at a time you see every item on screen.

Also, every time you examine a meteorite landing spot it lets you lock in 2 more upgrades. You can end up with 10-12 at a time if you search them out.
Thank you. This game is incredible if it's understood and I'm loving the different ways to explore evolution. Easily one of the best games I've ever experienced.

It's basic and repetitive, but in a good way. I've already sunk a lot of time in it and even though it's familiar in structure to other games, it's still pretty different. Figuring out how to make a pointy stick and then killing a saber tooth tiger with it was extremely satisfying

I actually find this game quite fun. Yes it is a bit on the repetitive side but still fun.
I'm thinking of getting it, but as a single dad with a full time job, time kind of Limited. So is it extremely slow process? And is it actually worth it?
@@jtheman4678 if u like survival game, exploring the world, have a curiosity...you will like this game, maybe. The game average is 40-50 hours...depending you are smart or not to learn something in the game...

So it sounds to me like a very ambitious game that has a multitude of features that may appeal to some big fans of the genre, but that it could have used more development time, both to make the tutorials/explanations for each mechanic more clear, and maybe also time to play-test and polish each feature more (or pick a few things to simply remove). For example, I love the idea of a game allowing you to sense things in more ways than hearing or seeing, but from the short clip in this video it looks kind of tedious and confusing (maybe instead of the player having to go into "sense-mode", hard-to-spot objects in the game world could blink/glow/shine like in a lot of current games, but with more intensity/higher frequency depending on your stats).

Poorly executed. The game is super tiresome, you feel like you are doing all the work of your "clan" while at the same time contributing nothing.

Given that it's not multiplayer this would need something for the community to keep playing though, e.g. really hard special missions, modding support, rewarding community contests things like that.
Otherwise it'll just be a quick "oh look, that's cute. Aaaand, it's over. Well, time to play another game I guess."

It looks to me like it has a ton of potential to be something super interesting. I might pick it up on sale in the future, but I'd be even more curious if they released a sequel or a major overhaul update, No Man's Sky-style.

well there was both a 3MR and a ZP on Control, Horace, and Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, among others, so there's no direct conflict. Just depends on if Yahtzee wants to cover it.

This is a pretty bad review, not only is the combat hard to fail once you've figured out the trick. But there is no "invisible luck mechanic" causing you to sometimes fail, I literally cannot die to animal attacks now, and haven't since.
Is it worth the buy?
@@thegraniteduck7956 let's put it this way if you like constant heart pulsing action this game isn't for you, if you like deep and involved stories this game isn't for you but if you like the opening struggle of survival games that expects you to figure things out your self you could have a good time with this game, its rough around the edges with a few design flaws and bugs but none of them game breaking.

Y'all should look at Niche: A Genetic Survival than. Similar idea of evolution, but handled in a different game style.

3 minute reviews, AKA cliffnotes reviews that never will have enough time to truly make their point or give an adequate understanding of what a game is like.
3 minute reviews, AKA a million times better than all these 20-30 minute long videos that i dont even know what kinds of people have the damn time to watch.
@@jamaltehrani2848 for real, this is one out of only three reviews I could find that were under 20 minutes (some of them are over an hour!), and this is the best, and interestingly also shortest, one out of the three. Skimming/jumping through some of the longer ones, it seems like a lot of them are more like tutorials than actual reviews, talking mostly about the mechanics in detail and the things they recommend you know before playing it.

You have to think in context. If you decide to read only the abstract of a paper, or the blurb of a book you will get far less information on that subject or text. This doesn't mean its worse than having no context, but you have to decide yourself if you need more information.

@@alastor8091 in all fairness, a shorter review might be beneficial, especially for one youre interested in. The deeper the review, the greater the exposure to the game without your involvement so it can take away from the introduction that you would get otherwise.
This game is an absolute piece of shit. It deeply saddens me to see this is what videogames have become. Even More boring than real life. Even more boring than farming simulator which is boring as fuck because it is exactly like real life farming.
