this is a cool concept/idea. This is what i miss about videogames, taking cool ideas and turning them into games. Nowadays everything seems like a modern rehash of an old game or a shooter.
Just like movies and television but Netflix released that new black mirror episode. We all could use more innovation in entertainment. Remember when the fad was 3D tv's.
How can You be interested in this crap? Sure the idea might be appealing to some, but it's mechanics look dated and stiff, and has the same UI as the standard Ubisoft game. The game is going to be a checkpoint system driven game, with everything babysitted to you in some "eagle vision" clone. There's nothing to be interested about.

It's nice to see the excitment of the creator. He is too happy with what he has accomplished. Thats the main reason I imagine he did the game. I'll look forward to play this. Thanks!

Assassin’s Creed is what the dev is known for and is pretty much why he and this game are getting as much attention as they are.. Any other team of 30 people making a game on Unreal Engine 4 about Ancestors would not get an interview.

Lunar_YT I’m pretty sure that a lot of devs are passionate and fascinated by their projects, that doesn’t really get you an interview though lol.. But he and his team worked on the OG Assassin’s Creed, so it makes sense for the interviewer to reference THE MAIN REASON HE IS KNOWN.
Who else read the title and thought this was Assassin's creed but way back in time? Edit: Wow, that's alot of likes. I get "me" notifications daily. :( My thoughts based on research... I believe humans are a hybrid and bioengineered. But also a common design in this galaxy to very advanced species. We are related to many of them. I also think advanced apes similar to us could have been used as a starting subject. But i also know there is a mulitiversal source consciousness entirety that is a prime creator. We are an extension of this 'God' and thus creators of the consciousness field and avatar body. This physicality is more along the lines of the creator's dream to simulate ourselves as each individual is shifting through timelines of choice every second, thus expanding the whole collective of experiences for the creator to self observe. Other advanced civilizations in this galaxy know this since souls move across planets and species, objects, and essences, living and non living, across life times. All these things are the human experience. All revealed in due time.

Yeah the Gamespot host is non responsive as hell. I feel bad for the dev, he's clearly passionate about this and the host just says, "Yeah." or "That's interesting" in the flattest tone i've ever heard. It's kinda rude honestly.
I liked it. It's unique. The jumping in the crown of the trees is very revolutionary and liberating. I remembered the first time I was running and jumping in AC1 and enjoying the freedom of movement. My prediction is they will make a "Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey" game franchise, that moves from this point onward, so (if successful) the next game will be Ancestors II and will follow the next step in the evolutionary process of humans. The title has that ambiguous franchise beginning sound.
How amazing is it that this dude Patrice who's like the creator of one of the biggest franchises in gaming history and basically already a gaming legend. This dude goes to this press event and plays and talks about the game he's making personally! So much passion. I fucking love the dude and I loved Assassin's Creed and I still think the franchise took a nose-dive literally after he left after Brotherhood. This guy is the originator of a mechanic literally present in EVERY open world game post-AC, the eagle vision. And then he comes around with this game that's implementing all these never before seen mechanics to interact with the world he has created. This is talent. This is originality and I wish we had more people like him in the industry.

( eagle vision) The hunting is a feature that has been copied by a lot of game designers and rockstar too ( use the eagle vison to track animals ) . This is the sort of game I've always wanted to play as a kid. Still do! Like an interactive documentary. It's a niche that, yes, won't interest everyone. But it holds a ton of potential and this early peek looks so promising! Looking forward to seeing and hearing more about this game and I hope the creator and his (shockingly small) team don't let the skeptics get the better of them.

This game looks amazing! I have always enjoyed survival games with a twist, not to mention nothing like this has never been done before, with our ancestors lol. I can see myself messing about eating whatever I can find running from predators and chasing possible prey etc. The swinging looks really cool as well, and the developer seems passionate as all heck, which I admire. I can appreciate the game much more now after watching this, before it wasn't feeling like a game. I hope the environmental pressures are more of a guide to progression, as you loose trees or things to get up high to look out and plan, the need for standing and walking up right to see farther becomes important to your evolution. But it will come at the cost of strength and speed, yet develops increased stamina and of course range of awareness. Always difficult it seems to make a evolution game, as evolution is blind, and it is natural selection that chooses traits, not a "controller / creater / designer / or player".
When they released Farcry Primal my only regret was that it was another Farcry game. It could have been so much better without the Farcry limitations and mechanics.
Something truly special here, unique and original. Great job by 30 people and such a different concept wouldn’t come from a triple A studio, they all want their repetitive yearly releases and sequels over and over. I hope people give this a try, we need more innovation like this not less.

As an Anthropologist this game is an absolute wet dream. It is amazing that they would take on such a risky and ambitious project. I will purchase this day one just to unpack all the real theories that got put into this game.
My BA was in Anthropology as well. This game looks amazing and could teach human evolution to the public well, but I have this feeling of dread this will just be more like Assassin's Creed: Australopithecus.

You can only pick from two genders? So much for the game being about evolution. Jokes aside, this concept is great. Not a big fan of how imposing the fear zones affect visuals as well as the effects on undiscovered items. I think that can be toned down just a bit, or brushed up on. Gameplay looks clunky. I hope they’ll add a more realistic climbing/branch system regarding the weight of your ape as well. Some of those jumps he did made me think twice about whether or not the branches could actually hold his weight up without snapping. Besides those little nit picks. We have something that’s fresh and not a rehash people. I’ll definitely be following this game up to its release date.

I love how this guy is so proud of this project. Like he sees the potential this has and he loves it and I think he realizes that not everybody is going to be on board with it. This game is very artistic and beautiful, skill tree mechanic showing neurons fits so well with the evolution concept also some people complaining about graphics it isn't yet finished and only 30 people have worked on the game, it does not have a AAA team and also we get to experience many different biomes like tundra, savannah etc. I get so excited for this game just from the play through!

The amount of detail in rdr2 is great also because it's been in work for 6-7 year clearly not in the case of this game. *money

Feel so great, I wanna see more ! But it made me think about one thing : Make a random timer when in state of fear which provoke a sudden focus of the cam on a "fear illusion" would help (timer long enough to prevent an easy adaptation from the player). Cause after 15-30s of this state, it's just some random red light you'll not even consider focus on. And fear is made to force you to focus on any potentials threats, even threats which don't exist.

Assassin’s Creed is what the dev is known for and is pretty much why he and this game are getting as much attention as they are.. Any other team of 30 people making a game on Unreal Engine 4 about Ancestors would not get an interview.

My thoughts based on research... I believe humans are a hybrid and bioengineered. But also a common design in this galaxy to very advanced species. We are related to many of them. I also think advanced apes similar to us could have been used as a starting subject. But i also know there is a mulitiversal source consciousness entirety that is a prime creator. Other advanced civilizations in this galaxy know this since souls move across planets and species, objects, and essences, living and non living, across life times. All these things are the human experience. All revealed in due time.

I liked it. It's unique. The jumping in the crown of the trees is very revolutionary and liberating. I remembered the first time I was running and jumping in AC1 and enjoying the freedom of movement. How amazing is it that this dude Patrice who's like the creator of one of the biggest franchises in gaming history and basically already a gaming legend. This dude goes to this press event and plays and talks about the game he's making personally! So much passion. I fucking love the dude and I loved Assassin's Creed and I still think the franchise took a nose-dive literally after he left after Brotherhood. This guy is the originator of a mechanic literally present in EVERY open world game post-AC, the eagle vision. And then he comes around with this game that's implementing all these never before seen mechanics to interact with the world he has created. This is talent. This is originality and I wish we had more people like him in the industry.

This is the sort of game I've always wanted to play as a kid. Still do! Like an interactive documentary. It's a niche that, yes, won't interest everyone. But it holds a ton of potential and this early peek looks so promising! This game looks amazing! I have always enjoyed survival games with a twist, not to mention nothing like this has never been done before, with our ancestors lol. I can see myself messing about eating whatever I can find running from predators and chasing possible prey etc. The swinging looks really cool as well, and the developer seems passionate as all heck, which I admire. Reviewer was quite bland, but that's besides the point.

I can appreciate the game much more now after watching this, before it wasn't feeling like a game.
I hope the environmental pressures are more of a guide to progression, as you loose trees or things to get up high to look out and plan, the need for standing and walking up right to see farther becomes important to your evolution. But it will come at the cost of strength and speed, yet develops increased stamina and of course range of awareness.
Always difficult it seems to make a evolution game, as evolution is blind, and it is natural selection that chooses traits, not a "controller / creater / designer / or player".
This is a very VERY ambitious game. You have to have NO fear of failure to even try to tackle this
but if they can pull it off its going to be big like with BR become huge and everyone trying to make it alike

You can only pick from two genders? So much for the game being about evolution. Jokes aside, this concept is great. Not a big fan of how imposing the fear zones affect visuals as well as the effects on undiscovered items. I think that can be toned down just a bit, or brushed up on. Gameplay looks clunky. I hope they’ll add a more realistic climbing/branch system regarding the weight of your ape as well. Some of those jumps he did made me think twice about whether or not the branches could actually hold his weight up without snapping. Besides those little nit picks. We have something that’s fresh and not a rehash people. I’ll definitely be following this game up to its release date.

@@yeahyes7077 Have u seen AC Origins/Odyssey? They sacrificed AC identity to jump on the witcher 3 bandwagon. Dialog choices, side-quest design, the combat, equipment dropping and evolution, map full of interrogation spots with enemies and loot, etc. but witcher 3 executed it all 10000 times better

Ubisoft took good aspects from the Witcher to improve AC. Just as Witcher Devs themselves admited to taking ideas from the Arkham games and Dark Souls to make their game

This game is very artistic and beautiful, skill tree mechanic showing neurons fits so well with the evolution concept also some people complaining about graphics it isn't yet finished and only 30 people have worked on the game, it does not have a AAA team and also we get to experience many different biomes like tundra, savannah etc. I get so excited for this game just from the play through!
It's also not even a full alpha build yet. This is about as early in development as it gets
@UC3zeeTCwJnNV5iTcRDS-eWA I will tell you the reason they are probably working on a low tier engine (budget efficient since they don't have rockstar's or ubisoft's lvl of mobey) the big bird seemed like a boss to me and will have to be killed in order to access higher vantage points IMO, they only have a small group of game devs whereas compared to rockstar or ubisoft which puts pressure on it's team as rumoured. The amount of detail in rdr2 is great also because it's been in work for 6-7 year clearly not in the case of this game.

Feel so great, I wanna see more ! But it made me think about one thing :
Make a random timer when in state of fear which provoke a sudden focus of the cam on a "fear illusion" would help (timer long enough to prevent an easy adaptation from the player). Cause after 15-30s of this state, it's just some random red light you'll not even consider focus on. And fear is made to force you to focus on any potentials threats, even threats which don't exist.
So keen for this. Gonna be quite the journey going through evolution in a game!
