I think simple games are wonderful. For new gamers or people who are wanting to get into gaming, these type of games are a godsent. A new gamer can take their time and see why experienced gamers love to play video games so frequently. For experienced gamers, I think it’s nice because sometimes in life you just want something different. Also not all experienced gamers love “first person shooter” games. I think just because it’s not the typical game in which you gravitate towards, doesn’t mean that it isn’t a good game. Even if it does fit your overall play style, doesn’t mean it can’t be for amazing for another gamer.
Just picked this game up and started a playthrough on it last night. The game is solid, you can tell the devs put alot of hard work into this game. It's beautiful and the story is calm but keeps you intrigued atleast to the point where I'm at. Good review!
I like the direction (intentionallly hopefully) of the show focusing on the easily missed or overlooked games It does help to differentiate it from... the obvious... But I had never heard of the last three games
The precision jumps and perspective they have done on purpose. The Main Challenge of this Game is to time right your next move, jump, time heights and distance. Its add so much more to this game, and leads to clever planning your way. People complain, the controls does not work perfect. But it was designed this way. In perspective of the age of the man, the environment moving forward and backwards, on which terrain the man stand the game reacts to the player. when yoiu spin a lilly pad the old man finds it difficult to run on it. Compare you are walking on a record that plays. You will slip when you move to fast, right?. If you jump from a point too high, the man cannot land properly and save. If something too far away the old man cannot reach it. All this things you have to think about it when you play this game and it makes it so much richer the experience. So its easy to say the game has bad controls but the right Question to ask is why.
Despite not being a big fan of melancholic or otherwise feels-tugging narrative-centric games, the time-altering mechanic looks very well done and creatibely executed. Hopefully that can be a mechanic in more games.
@@krievondhahrknes4259 I confess, I forgot it even existed until you said it. Doesn't it only sell racing, gambling & Candy Crush type time wasting games?

I just wish this was on Steam tbh, I was forced to get it on PS4 because of it being an Epic exclusive, smh (I refuse to support them). Get to play it tomorrow, hyped tbh.
That's what I want... a game filled with melancholy that is likely as not to make me cry. Often when my wife asks me why I'm blowing up aliens, I say it's because I like feeling sad when they die. Nice review, though.
@@TheREALHugo4 I've played a few indie games that similarly sort of lonely exploration / mystery things. They were all sort of one-and-done experiences... like watching a sad movie.
i kinda prefer games being one and done tbh. i dont reply most games because i have a feeling it can ruin the game for me. if i chose to replay games, its to uncover secrets and details
If you don´t want to cry, don´t play Rime. If you cried with the first 10 minutes of Up, I don´t recommend you that game. If you want an absolutely emotionally devastating game, play it. I can´t tell you anything about it, otherwise I´d ruin the experience. It´s a really really good game, I love it so much, but I have to warn you: maybe you will be fckd up an entire week after finishing it.
Personally, I've noticed that many of these smaller games (that get the 3 Minute Review treatment) would benefit a lot from script rewrites because the *personality* of their Hero/Protagonist just doesn't shine through at all 😐
the story is beautiful as is the art and soundtrack. its a story of a mans life, his adversities, his triumphs, love, loss, and hope. It manages to convey all this with no dialogue as well. beautfiul piece of art. sorry you cant appreciate it.

It is amazing how many 3D platforms still come out without drop shadows or other markers directly under the player.
It really bugs me. Why not have a subtle cue to where the player is in 3D space
If I remember right even the remade Spyro games didn't have it. It's a core feature and I couldn't believe it either.

I bet that changed didn’t it.

sure, but it's also good design to give cues as to where your player is in 3D space.
I haven’t played the game yet... but I’ve listened to the soundtrack a million times
I have a PlayStation background from this :)

I just played the demo for this on the Switch last night. I loved it.

This is on sale rn, I might pick it up. I like simple emotional games like Sea of Solitude and Sayonara Wild Hearts.
Hollywood Directors: "Games are not art *fart* here's Birds of Prey."
Me: Points at Arise.
Beautiful game. My first i ever finished! The ending was emotional. Can’t wait to play more!
Reminds me alot of Journey
The Lilly pads are the true enemy.
Looks good, I should try it. Wonder if it's on PC.
"...Epic Games store..."
DAMN IT
What about the Microsoft store

well done, thx for the short and easy to watch review.
No mention of the local co-op?
Are you guys considering looking into Mo: Astray? It's a phenomenal game that is really getting overlooked.
The Bard Looks really nice, I’ll play it, thank you. I’ve discovered great games through reading comments
Thanks for this review, very helpful and to the point!
Seems like a really nice little game
"/.../ for 19.99 on the /.../ "
And like that, it has lost me. Being on a tight budget sucks.
Pc torrent here we come.
Now it's a bit cheaper
It's 15.99 on Epic right now and if you had an unused account you may still have a $10 coupon from the winter sale.
Might pick it up if it ever comes on Steam.
I thought this game was supposed to be coop? No mention of that feature at all
I have the game it is co op. One player controls the time and the other controls the old man
Great review.
The exact reason I got mad with this game is in this review! The inability to move the camera makes for cheap fails in the worst way.
so is this game multiplayer???
I can grab ledges? *SOLD!*
Great review!
Actually quite enjoying these reviews. I had never heard about this game, but now I think I'm gonna pick it up. Good job, escapists
It's only 3hrs so keep that in mind
Why they never make games with worlds and graphics like this. If they do theyre unexplorable
