I appreciate people like Bad Bunny and Knoxville who actually show up and put the effort in. But it’s really alarming when Shane in his 50s, a rapper and the jackass guy are more over than 2/3 of the entire rumble. You had like 4 stars in this match and besides AJ they all came out in the second half. It’s just a painfully dull rumble.

He finished fifth, but fair point nonetheless. If you wanted the crowd to pop, have Omos come out around 24 and make he and Brock the final two.

The Royal Rumble is the only PPV I ever make a yearly effort to watch just because I like the concept. And now that you can just activate Peacock for a month and then cancel, it's only $5, which is great. At the end of this show, I felt like I had spent too much.

I'm really disappointed in the Wrestlemania card for this year. But WWE on Peacock is pretty awesome overall. TONS of great PPVs and Nitros and RAWs from years past. Well worth the money to me. I have more than I'll ever be able to watch even if I totally ignore the past 10 years of WWE content. Even old matches from the Bruno Sammartino, Jesse The Body, Dusty Rhodes, and Bob Backlund days are on there.

When you're telling your stories correctly and building the people that the audience wants, you should know the RR winner after Survivor Series. That's when the concept worked at its best. HBK, Austin were not surprises. That is where the story took you and everybody knew it. This stuff isn't difficult.
TBF any idiot could tell it was almost guaranteed to be Brock Lesnar. Being able to predict a predictable Rumble winner doesn't make you a legend.
I mean it's the exact same finish that Brock pulled a couple of years ago for the money in the bank match but idk...

Apparently Triple H and TJ Wilson played a big part in planning out past Rumbles and neither were at the PPV to help out this year. Guess that explains why both rumbles felt so lifeless and bland.

Never thought I'd hear a Rodney and Pete Gas name drop in 2022 outside of my friends group! I know it wasn't what Corny was going for, but I popped for it due to it being so unexpected.
Mean Street Posse were hilarious in how goofy they were lol.
Lol I thought Rodney had the look to be a star back then and Pete Gas was the Jannetty. Joey Abs was like Leif Cassidy.

AJ coming out at number 1 was a stupid move. He was one of like four legitimate stars capable of winning, and in my opinion the most interesting choice, but obviously they aren’t having him win from the one spot since Edge just did last year.

And to make it even worse they gave us hope by entering him at the iron man spot, did the shawn michaels pose, got 5 eliminations which is the most anyone got in this rumble at that point I thought it's actually happening he is winning this and then he gets fed to a jober, I swear I left my seat and almost turned the shit off
I legit fell asleep in the middle of this match (after / around Omos getting thrown out ) and after I woke up seeing Brock and I asked myself “ why’d I even waste my time watching this” thank god I fell asleep. Madcrap Moss eliminating Styles was insulting. This match was such a steaming pile of excretion.
I kept getting Moss and Boogs confused. They basically look the same to me. Moss' spot could have gone to a returning star like Elias if he ever is allowed to wrestle in WWE again, or a legend. There were almost NO surprises in the men's match. I predicted Brock to win, so no shock. Shane and Bad Bunny were it for surprises?

AJ Styles should have won. That would have been a nice surprise with new stories ready. Lesnar and Roman could have fought each other at Wrestle Mania anyways. Everyone is tired of predictable Royal Rumbles. The disrespect shown to people like Bobby Roode, Nakamura among others was crazy.

Its getting really old to see part timers who only show up a couple times a year get treated like they are a big deal. This rumble seemed disorganized and I thought it was the worst one yet.
I could not Agree more, it seams all the fans are getting from WWE now is in the men's main event scene Brock v Reigns both are so pumped full of steroids and HGH that for either to get a hard on they would need a ton of viagra injected into their spine.
Even then it may still not work, other than that in the mens rumble we get Austin Theory who is also on the gas and is also a possible sex offender just like Riddle, Junkie Jimmy Havoc, Dick Boy, David Star and even Jay lethal in AEW.
None of these people should be on TV till a police investigation has taken place and it goes infant of a judge jury.
Anyway other than Brock v Reigns there is Flair again she is on steroids and has gotten worse and worse in ring over the last 3-5 years v Rousey which is a match I could not give a shit about.
When every person who is a fan of WWE just wants to see Rousey v the likes Bel Air, Ripley and Becky Lynch as fan have already seen Flair v Rousey.
what is there to care about in WWE any of the none roided up talent will get pushed, none American talent just gets treated like shite, Japanese wrestler male and female get treated f***ing awful and like second class citizen's.
No I will just stick with AEW hoping that Punk and Bryan can rub off on the basement booker and that someone gets through to Tony that he needs to hire an actual Booker and he then hire's Gabe Sapolski to be the booker and he also hire's Regal as a talent scout, Samoa Joe, Brian Kendrick and Timothy Thatcher as player coaches.
As well as Tony Khan buying ROH or coming to an agreement with ROH to become AEW's developmental territory for AEW's young green wrestler to go and learn from the best alongside veterans from ROH like Dalton Castle, Gresham, The Briscoe's hell even have some of AEW's veteran's be apart of it as well on a rotation system.

Kofi doesn't need to feel embarrassed for a thing. We all know his agility, but he isn't superman. Besides, turn it into a story where he questions his own ability to the point where it hinders him. Bring down Kofi so he can be built back up where we know he already is.
If they bring Kofi down they're liable to just bury him and leave him down there.

Kofi shouldn't be embarrassed, I wasn't embarrassed for him and I don't think anyone else was. We all know that at some point he'd do something he couldn't complete, the fact he tries is what makes Kofi Kofi. And even though it's a botch I don't see it as one, he's been doing every trick to stay in the match, it would make sense him being eliminated during another wacky attempt, far as I'm concerned it wasn't even a blip on the radar
Nobody really cares about Kofi anymore. He peaked when he was WWE Champion and since then, he's going to remain where he always was at. His Royal Rumble spots were bound to screw up at some point the more they kept on shoehorning it every year.
Maybe it's time for Kofi to retire and become a trainer maybe. Why keep him there if he's gonna just be fodder? He should have retired after his Championship run. Sure it would be sold as Brock killing him but maybe that could have been the logs to start up a firey storyline...
Take notes, Vince; Moshpit Jones is a FAR more marketable name than Madcap Moss.
I love it. The hell is a madcap. JD said best his first week on Smackdown that he thought they said madCAT which would’ve sounded way better.
I wish I can watch the rumble with Jim on real time. The amount of cussing and reactions from him would be insane.

This rumble event made me realize the women have more defined characters unique looks and better entrances and music then the men. So many men wrestlers have generic music I wondered who is this coming out with the women I knew exactly who was coming out
That's cause the women's roster is so much smaller. The women's rumble was pretty much only modern women who have been in the title picture or held the title recently or nostalgia pops

Randy actually said he really enjoys Riddle, specifically cause Riddle is the only one who can grow the strain he likes but hey we all have our reason for hanging out with people right.
This Delivered so Hard! So worth waiting for!! Jim Cornette hit every issue with this Rumble out of the park. I was honestly chuckling and laughing from start to finish.

Im not even really a wrestling fan. Watched it as a kid, sort of just moved on, no clue whats been happening with the sport since like 2002. But jim cornette is a fucking national treasure. Why has the WWE not brought him in to make wrestling relevant again? Who the fuck else could do it?
Styles and Nakamura could have been the Michaels and Bulldog of this Rumble. This whole Rumble was just really confusing to watch.
The funniest part about the rumble is you could tell it had a good 20 re writes + maybe another 12 after Shane got involved. Literally everyone out there from the wrestlers to the camera men had no clue what to do. Plus the fact that Shane wanted to book the Rumble around himself, despite him sweating like a hog after throwing 20 seconds of shit punches 💀.

Who tf would believe that Randy Orton in 2022 was gonna be booked to win the Royal Rumble? It was always going to be Brock and this WM main event with Roman. It has Vince's sticky fingers all over it. Ronda and Becky for WM day 1, Roman and Brock for day 2. The rumble is just about setting up the big names match now, not creating storylines and stars.

This rumble suffered from a major lack of preparation. Probably because Vince and co were changing literally everything about it up until the final minute.
There's a video/theory that says the reason the Rumbles have been so good in the last few years was because HHH made sure everyone had spots and got it coordinated and he wasn't there. The last few have been great imo.
Apparently it was Shane who put this Rumble together. And now he's been released from WWE.

@@DaylinThaGemini I wouldn't be surprised. Seems to be par for the course in WWE. Reports are saying Shane was causing havoc backstage, which pissed off a lot WWE employees, and led to his firing.

It's funny that all night there was bad camera work and missing eliminations like Rey Misterio's, but the cameras caught Kofi's 2 feet touching the ground.

Why? They had a past rivarly and all that did at the end of the day was save Owens from getting steamrolled by Brock or Drew.
Some of you comment like it's your first time watching WWE lmao. Owens wasn't winning regardless and him and KO having a feud in the past made sense for him to do so. Shane isn't some nobody, dude has had matches with Kurt Angle and the Undertaker and they were fairly believable. So throwing Owens out a Rumble match isn't some big deal. I was pulling for Styles, Riddle, or Orton but still.
Literally nobody will ever care.

Roddy Piper would have knocked Bad Bunny’s block off. As much as he may “respect the business” the fact that WWE would expect their wrestlers to bump for him, especially big bumps reveals the company’s disrespect for the business.

As soon as Lesnar lost his match against Lashley, I knew he was winning the Rumble cuz Jim, and Brian pretty much predicted it a while ago. Aslo felt really bad for Kofi's botched spot.
I am going to go out on a limb and guess that Jim did not like the Men's Royal Rumble match. Just a shot in the dark.
Actually quite the contrary he raved about the incredible nonstop action especially the spots with Matt Riddle and Madcap Moss
He loved the ending which the internet pretty universally disliked! I guess Jim will never be tired of Brock and Reigns together just as much as Vince.
@@MattAlbie Jim still views things as a Booker and what he would do. Fans view things as what they would do which is typically pushing underdogs. It's also why you see people complain about no stars but then are upset when Tomaso Ciampa isn't a main roster champ. I'm tired of Brock vs Roman but i can see why WWE would do it.

I love Riddle and what's even better you can tell that Randy not only loves working with him but is having more fun in this storyline than he's had in forever. He always looks so bored and just going through the motions but you can see he's having fun and it's making me love seeing Randy more than ever. I really would love to see Riddle turn on Orton to surprise us and then see a good Randy/Riddle feud.
Matt Riddle's actually a really good fighter but you'll never know it as long as he's in WWE b/c they have his character playing a complete stoner and goof.
If anything they'd have Orton turn heel, he has said in the past that he likes being a heel more and it would be nice seeing him destroy that twigboy Riddle
@@CLM1987 yeah but Orton has turned 7,000x,. Obviously Heel Orton is my favorite but since he seemingly loves working with Riddle I would love to see it the other way. The only time someone has turned on Randy was waaaay back in Evolution and he wasn't ready to be the top guy back then.
Wait..I'm confused..people think WWE gave Riddle this gimmick ? Sure it's turned up by them but he's literally done interviews where he has said Vince "didn't understand the gimmick and thought he was a goof"
I think all the smiling is OTT for when the inevitable turn comes, its a contrast when hes serious Orton again.

It was more predictable than dull. It's a sad state of affairs that Bad Bunny got a bigger pop than guys like Theory and Priest who are seen as future stars.
The lack of star power is shocking WWE are slowly rotting their roster away.

There were guys like Bobby Fish, Adam Cole, Samoa Joe, Keith Lee, and so many more, who could have, should have, been a part of this Rumble.
The 1988 Royal Rumble was all mid card talent and 10 x more entertaining than this years Royal Rumble, which was basically a televised sleep medication. At one point I made the comment to my brother that the ring was filled with a bunch of guys that look like uninspired CAW characters from a video game.

The generic CAW theme music that almost everybody in that match has now didn’t help much. I had no clue who the hell was even coming out, thanks to WWE changing everybody’s music to jobber music.

4:50 this happened with the Mickie Jame's entrance. It had a ton of momentum and Michelle McCool immediately buried it.

@Sajid Ahmed To me this was a b level show. The only match worse than the mens Rumble match was the Becky match. I don't understand some of the critiques of the Rumble match. People are bitching they didn't have enough legends or surprises but they also bitch every time one shows up for a match. The Undertaker Goldberg faceoff was cool the other year but seriously aside from Goldberg most male legends from the 90's era can barely move or are one bad bump away from serious injury.

Apparently Shane helped book Rumble & there was heat. It would make sense why the Rumble seemed off. If you go back when Sheamus enters, he looks like he doesn’t want to feed to Corbin & moss and looks like he wants this to be over and to see he got eliminated by Bunny (who isn’t booked for Mania) shows he was frustrated

Yeah he at least respected the business and clearly put the work in to at least be capable in the ring. Now should be there in the first place? No of course should've had the one off appearance at Wrestlemania because they love putting a spotlight on a celebrity there and let that be his moment. No reason to come back but I at least will say he's some guy that actually doesn't care about wrestling and took a week of back bumps and said that's good enough so they can promote whatever fuck they have going in their select field so I'll give him a pass
He grew up watching wrestling like most of us did, clearly trains, and gets billions of views and streams. It's a win win. People bury most actual wrestlers but then also get upset when people who can maybe get a few extra eyeballs get some shine.

I think Bunny did what he should have done, but WWE should have shown his training on screen more as a part of his on screen character. If you are only using the celebrity as a brawler who doesn't know what they are doing, that's fine. If you want them to be a competitor, just include that in the storyline.
Everyone who follows behind the scenes knows he did it, and respects him for that. But why is that not conveyed to the actual wider audience? That's about the only thing i agree with Jim on that "then everybody can do it" comment.
Knoxville clearly did the more traditional celebrity thing and took bumps because that's what he's famous for.

Jim is right..nobody really came in and made an immediate impact. Some did but most didnt. On the FLIPSIDE the formula for the women's Rumble since 2018 is every woman whether main roster, nxt, or legend comes in and pretty much shines for 60sec until the next woman comes in (except for the select few who get dumped immediately).
WWE needs to find that balance again with the Rumble

And this is why the 1992 Rumble remains my favorite,not just for the goofy way Flair won the title(that was priceless),but the fact that the second half of it was practically a Mid-Atlantic reunion w/Valentine,Piper,Snuka and even my boy Dick Murdoch.
There is no way they can ever make another Rumble like that yet each year I keep wishing. Maybe this year's Rumble wasn't the best , but it was still fun or maybe it's just me as I just like the concept of the Rumble so much. In fact I would like to see a mini rumble maybe with only 10 or 15 wrestlers in mid-year maybe to decide the US or Intercontinental titles which should be better promoted just like the tag team championships.

@@michaelunderhill8847 exactly and for some guilty pleasure reason i loved that dynamic where you had pure stars out there and then you had the crazy gimmicky guys with a videogame-esque backstory, unbreakable kayfabe and outfit to match that "wtf" factor it added so much to variety and made rosters feel alive instead of the same "my full name is my superstar name" CAWs now. it tasted like actual wrestling flavor and had none of the fat and soap opera speeches getting stuck in your teeth like wrestling does now.
For Real, Being 100 honest....something so minor as KO entering and for no reason other then his fight anyone gimmick, jus clashes and brawls with McIntyre on the ramp in process of entering...soo simple yet perfect for both guys character and was probably my fav moment of the match all things considered there wasn’t much else worth shit in it
Believe it or not, this is meant to be a compliment. As Jim has gotten older, he's starting to remind me of my grandmother on my mother's side in the way he delivers some lines and the inflections in his voice. This is a compliment because my grandmother was known for her acid tongue, but could also be funny as Hell. Especially in a sarcastic and backhanded manner. Anyhow, I just felt the need to state that. Carry on.

Lesnar is still a Beast even at 44. He didn’t need it at all but who else could have won it? Bobby roode? Austin theory? Otis? Damian priest? Only person remotely that made sense was AJ styles but you could argue he didn’t need it either.

Secondly, if WWE Creative (a.k.a. Vince McMahon) had done their job properly, we could've had plenty of potential Rumble winners. Corban and Gable are 2 guys who had potential, but were forever ruined with crap gimmicks, Big E could've had a redemption arc, but Vince has already forgotten his existence, Austin Theory is an up-and-comer (yes, he's too Green AF to be pushed that quickly , but so was Cena & Reigns), not to mention the guys that were released the last 2 years.
Brock was the best choice.
This was just a wet fart of a rumble. There nothing to look forward to because we knew that Brock was gonna win. There was zero excitement with little to no memorable moments.
It took me a while to understand why Bugs Bunny with bun buns was on the thumbnail, until I realized Bugs Bunny is a reference to Bad Bunny.
There were quite a few people chanting "the signs on fire", but only 1/5 of the crowd could even see the back of the sign so most people didn't even notice literally most exciting part part of the show
The sign catching fire was a sign from the WRESTLING GODS that this show is shit and WM will be no better!
Jim got it right a month ago! however stupid that idea was when Jim said it(not his fault, he just extrapolated what best the WWE could do at that point)or even worse nightmare when the WWE did it poorly.
