I said it for a while, Big E didn't FEEL like a major title holder. It doesn't help that WWE NEVER elevated him at all. My guess is that they initially didn't plan to keep the strap on him for this long, or he'd have hold on until Mania.

Actually, Batista is not in the WWE Hall of Fame. He originally was announced for 2020, but COVID hit. Then Batista requested to be removed due to scheduling problems for the 2021 induction. Batista will eventually go in when scheduling issues are resolved.

Kofi's feuds during his tenure gave him something to do, but his gimmick never evolved past "New Day" antics when he was champion, which is what hurt his champions perception. When you win the title, your gimmick is forced to evolve with your new status, or else you run the risk of becoming a transitional champion. Imagine The Rock winning his first title shot as Rocky Mavia and being complacent in that gimmick. He would have never made it past the first month! That's this new generation's issue: They don't know how to evolve their gimmicks past their limits and make the right people care about what they're doing.

Any time they make a fan favorite a champion going into the winter run you know they will lose it to a big name by January. Even Punk Asuka, Bayley all got treated like this at a point. They did it with Kevin Owens and now Big E always
Asuka has never lost a title in the winter.....she has been screwed over in the midst of title reigns.

You'd have to go back to 2007 I believe to have a fan favorite hold on to it through the winter when Batista held onto it. Nowadays you're absolutely correct.

Same, but they are two of the biggest stars in the company. All this build up for the past several months will sort of go to waste if they don't face each other at WM. I would prefer Brock vs. Somebody else at WM and Roman vs. Somebody else as well though.

@Kane the difference is that Rock and Austin were the biggest stars they had so doing that multiple times at WM actually worked because it was written well and the talent were allowed to be more themselves back then than now. Hate to say it but neither Brock nor Roman are over as Austin and The Rock were in their prime, but if done right Brock Vs Roman can work. The issue is that WWE doesn't right for longevity anymore.

I don't really care about Brock vs Roman but the biggest win for me was Lashley vs Brock. I'm definitely keeping eye on WWE next few weeks just to follow this feud that has been way too long in the making.

Lesnar is great...InB4 someone ignores that Big E became popular and apart of top selling merch due to being goofy, charismatic, and strong...In an effort to turn him into some "serious" character to appease them. Lol there was never a training camp special during Samoa Joe vs Brock Lesnar story. Lol. It was Joe coming out and attacking Lesnar from behind when they sent him out with Heyman; to listen to a Heyman promo everytime 😆. Then Joe was kicking Lesnar ass in the PPV, MMA style and Lesnar was the winner to retain the belt. But there were never training camp videos for that lol. Not shown by WWE. You got a little carried away there 😆
But Lesnar did a training video for WWE for his UFC fight that 1 time. It was to show how he conditions himself, transitioning from pro wrestling to cage fighting. It's like going from NBA to Boxing. You have to change your regimen. But even in the Joe and Lesnar feud, Roman Reigns was in that mix. I recall Joe saying something slick to Roman that put him on MUTE. But you're over hyping that feud 😂

I'm surprised they ended it with BIg E so short BUT Lesnar vs Lashley has been a gimmie for years and a lot have been waiting for this. I will tune into WWE for this.
It had the opposite effect on me honestly. I'm sick of Lesnar and I don't really give two shits about Lashley. He's been very underwhelming since returning to WWE. Honestly TNA built him a lot better and made him fare more entertaining. The only thing i'm annoyed about is how they did Big E. They gave him a shit run and then had him lose in a 5 way match where he didn't need to be pinned to lose the belt. WWE could have done so much more with him but they just didn't even try. Which isn't surprising see as its WWE, when was the last time they actually made an honest attempt at building stars?
Big E’s title run couldn’t have been at a worst time to me. Everything Big E should have been as champion, Lashley is already doing. Right down to turning on his faction, a strong heel run, the whole 9. There was literally no difference between tag team, New Day Big E and so called world champion, main event Big E. His work didn’t change, his attire, his attitude, nothing.

@@marca.henderson5300 oh I know, I was being sarcastic. I get they want to let Roman have a 500 day or 2-3 year reign, but it’s made the vast majority of the roster feel unimportant. But at least they haven’t given Reigns the Lesnar treatment yet. And by that I mean he somehow gets the title yearly only to lose it in a ‘big’ Wrestlemania match.
His name or lack thereof, I feel, has really hurt his chances. Luckily the roster is so thin on top that he should get at least one more shot at main events.

The problem is Wwe did a shit job of building up credible opponents that could face Roman so they resort back to Brock smh. Lashley vs Brock is definitely appealing mostly because it's a fresh match up to.
I have a suspicion that theyre gonna go with lesnar vs lashley at mania with roman facing someone else. The issue there is, who does roman face? McIntyre's injured, theirs no top baby-face on smackdown, and theirs no chance rock "the dwayne" johnson is coming back for a match

WWE has forced itself into a corner. It booked younger stars so poorly that fans will not accept anyone other than the older stars.
A lot of the wrestlers these days don't have all the tools. Vince isn't going to push somebody just to push them.

The problem with that is though the older stars won't be around forever, Brock Lesnar won't be around 10 years from now. If WWE doesn't start making new stars soon there might not be a WWE 25-30 years from now.

My gripe is they could've at least had one of the other guys take the fall instead of Big E. Obviously couldn't have been Lashley since they are setting Lashley Vs Lesnar but that leaves the two other guys to take the fall. Also not a huge fan of putting belts on Lesnar in general unless he's going to be around cause I always dislike it when the champ isn't defending the title regularly.

Considering WWE had to do this all last minute, it was a Great match and works out in so many ways. Yes, Big E losing his championship sucks but the idea of Lashley vs Brock is a Dream Match. Backed by Heyman and MVP as the Hypeman makes it more exciting. Now we'll either see Brock vs Roman to Unified the Title, or we'll see Roman cost Brock the Title, and eventually, Lashley will take on Seth/KO/Big E for the Heavyweight Title. While Brock and Roman for the Universal Champion, and hopefully still have the Heyman on the Pole match. Brock and Heyman on RAW were fantastic and were needed.

I think Big E could've had a better run than that, and also I think a longer feud with Lashley could've been pretty good with Big E as the underdog and Lashley eventually winning out, IF they had dropped most of the goofiness from Big E's gimmick
The issue is that they treated him like shit by rushing him into feuds without any build. They coddled Drew and Roman. They didn't give a shit about Big E. It also doesn't help that they dumped almost half the roster that could've been used effectively IF VINCE GOT OUT THE FUCKIN WAY.

The key here is that management does not want to unify the belts, full stop. The most logical thing to do is let Bobby win via Uso/Haymen screwing Brock, then Roman v Brock at Mania for revenge.
Fox is not a fan of one title. they know the brand Smackdown. they do not give a fuck about Raw because it isn't on Fox and they aren't paying for it. they want that show to be it's own thing. it isn't going to happen, unless they sell it to Fox, that one champion will get them higher ratings.
I'm convinced that the internet just wants to see mid and lower card wrestlers win big titles regardless of whether it makes sense or is good for business. Big E is still a goof and doesn't seem like a big deal.
This is a good lesson that you can’t just throw someone who’s always been presented as a clown and make him champion. Not talking about being a jobber, just a clown. The joke tag champ reigns meant nothing. Nobody took him seriously which is the whole point of wrestling. People have to buy-in.
The least Big E can do is actually be funny. And that obnoxious hip twisting isn’t gonna cut it.

It's annoying that Lesnar only does two moves, makes his matches look like a videogame.
And people say Roman Reigns has a limited moveset.
I'm calling it now; opening match at Rumble sees some tomfoolery and Lashley wins over Brock. Brock has strings pulled and gets into and wins rumble. And that's how we get to Brock Roman Wrestlemania.
I’d have been behind Big E’s title reign had they changed his gimmick immediately after he won the title. They should’ve stripped away the New Day bollocks and given him a legitimate edge and seriousness. Have him be more destructive in the ring and make him seem like a main event threat, sort of how he was when he was aligned with Ziggler, the only difference being that now he’s come into his own and has the confidence to carry himself. Had they done that, THEN I would’ve cared when Brock took the title. I also would’ve wanted to see him try to take the title back from Brock. But from the way they’ve portrayed Big E as a champion, it’s easy to see why they skipped the rematch and went straight to Lesnar/Lashley

the whole reason he's as popular as he is because of New Day. Not letting him hold the title and be that guy is why his reign fell short.
Turning Big E from his New Day gimmick into a serious destructive threat in the ring makes him "The Almighty" Lashley 2.0. I think E has the charisma to keep his positive attitude going and he doesn't need to become a Lashley clone.
The funny thing is, Big E has all the tools to be a great WWE champ, he's got the look, the mic skills, and is incredibly charismatic when he gets serious... but he didn't get serious, which sucks. Hopefully, going forward he will drop the New Day goofiness and be a more well-rounded character because lets face it. Xavier and Koji need the New Day, Big E doesn't.

Who cares. I watch every week just out of habit and genuinely feel the same way about most of it. There’s no real “story” to invest in so it’s fine to review just on the matches alone. Aew is mostly the same way.

My guess now is that there will either be "Lesnar vs Lashley" or "Lesnar vs Lashley vs Big E" at the Royal Rumble, where Roman will interfere and cost Lesnar. Since the Men's RR will be the Main Event, Lesnar will beat someone up backstage and take his place in the RR, thereby winning it and becoming the #1 contender for WM. I think that is the best way to keep these dudes off each other.

Technically no every territory didn't have a world champion, they had a regional Champion but only recognized one title as the world championship. But I do agree having two world champions is a way of building up to different Main eventers
No, most territories only recognized one world championship. Even Mid South which wasn't part of the NWA only recognized the NWA champion
I hate it. Always hated multiple champs. Too much easier to say you were the man when really you were one of them
Until 1948, there were numerous "world champions", which were all unified into the NWA World Heavyweight Title after the formation of the NWA in 1948. Lou Thesz unified all the disparate world titles at this point. So in the early days, where wrestling was still regional territories but not strictly defined and controlled like the later territory system, you are right. After Thesz unified all the World Titles, the NWA title was the only World title until 1960.
In 1960, Verne Gagne split off of the NWA and formed the AWA, giving himself the AWA World Title after NWA refused to put the title on him. So from 1960 until 1990, the World title split into two titles, with the NWA and AWA occasionally having cross promotional matches between their champions (see Flair vs Bockwinkle, a classic). In 1990, the AWA collapsed under the weight of Verne's poor handling, and the surge of WWF and JCP/WCW. Larry Zybysko was the last AWA World Champion.
In 1963, Capitol Wrestling Corp did much the same thing; Vince McMahon Sr wanted his guy Buddy Rogers to keep the NWA World Title, and the NWA said no. NWA sent Lou Thesz in, who gave Rodgers a choice of the easy way or the hard way. Rodgers chose the easy and less painful way of not pissing off Thesz, but Vince Sr got pissed, refused to recognize the change, and changed his company's name to the World Wide Wrestling Federation, with it's own World Champion (with Rodgers holding the title as it's first champion). Thus the World title at this point split into three main titles.
Like the AWA, the WWWF did still work with the NWA with cross promotional matches on occasion, see Harley Race vs Billy Graham. The WWWF would shorten it's name in the late 70's to WWF, then change to WWE in the early 2000's.
The Memphis promotion CWA also had it's own World Champion for a time in the late 70's and 80's, as they were never able to convince either the AWA or NWA to put their respective titles on Jerry Lawler. Texas promotion World Class Championship Wrestling also had a World Title during the same time, after splitting from the NWA. This led to a project to fight the WWF, which saw a partnership with the CWA and WCCW, and meant to work with the AWA as well. Jerry Lawler would unify the AWA and CWA titles in May 1988 by defeating Curt Hennig for the AWA title, and later at Superclash III defeat Kerry Von Erich for the WCCW World title, which formed the USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship. Clashes between Gagne and Lawler, over Gagne never paying anyone for work done at Superclash III, led to the AWA backing out of the merger, and stripping Lawler of the AWA title officially (though he kept the AWA belt and still has it). The USWA would survive until 1997, though WCCW withdrew after 1990 (again over money, as Lawler was just as stingy when it came to paying workers), and then went under. The USWA remained regional, centered on Memphis, but kept the USWA Unified World Title until the end. So from 1988 until 1997, there was a regional World title, used by one of the last territories still operating.
In 1991, the former Jim Crockett Promotions; WCW, split from the NWA, which still managed the old World title, and formed their own World Title. For a time, Ric Flair was both NWA and WCW World Champion, which is where some of the confusion about his total title reigns comes from (most combine the two titles at the time as a single title reign). They would return to the NWA once more, before breaking away for a final time in 1993.
The NWA would slide into irrelevancy, particularly after the last 'major' promotion to recognize the NWA split off in a famous event that saw Shane Douglas throw down the NWA title and proclaim himself the Extreme Championship Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion. ECW would eventually collapse as well, and like the AWA and eventually WCW as well, sell to WWE; unifying all the titles together until the 'brand split' left the WWE with two World titles in their own promotion.
NWA would have a brief resurgence with NWA-TNA, which is now Impact unless they changed their name again this week, and a second, smaller resurgence still ongoing with the purchase of the NWA by Billy Corgan.
So in reality, there was only a relatively brief period in which there was only one recognized World Heavyweight Champion; basically the 1950's. After 1963, there was 3, with two regional World Champions, and by the 80's there was at least three more regional Word Champions (CWA, IWGP, and WCCW). Of course, there were probably more than that, as the most well known are US-centric titles save for the Japanese IWGP title. I know the IWC World title started in 1993, same year as ECW's, and AAA has their Mega title equivalent starting in 2007.
Not really especially when it essentially kills the prestige of one or both belts.
I stopped watching all of the WWE’s horse 💩 after they started putting padding on the outside of the ring of the elimination chamber. I’m honestly shocked ppl still watch whatever dog and pony show they’ve turned pro wrestling into excuse me “Sports Entertainment” sigh 🤦🏾♂️

Living here in Atlanta we didn’t get the news about Roman until after the doors had already opened. That’s really the only thing I wanted to see was that match those tickets were expensive for no reason

Have Bobby Lashley lose against Lesnar @ Royal Rumble for the WWE championship, but win the Royal Rumble 30 man battle. That’s right, Bobby Lashley enters @ #30 and wins the whole thing B4 losing to Lesnar. This would give him an excuse for his loss and not tarnish his “Push”. I’m glad Brock beat Big E, I could never take him seriously and he wasn’t world champion material. He won the IC title for a second time and did absolutely nothing with it, and had no memorable matches with it. The best moments were when he won it & lost it. He got split from the new day to only continue doing New Day stuff, didn’t even try to take it up a notch and differentiate. He does a bunch of goofy garbage and then tries to be serious 1/4 times, and then when he does, he acts like all his bad comedy doesn’t diffuse any attempts at portraying himself to be a serious contender. I’m sure he’s a great guy and I don’t hate him as a person or anything but as a wrestler he is 100% overrated. It was also 100% the right move to put it on Brock, it’s a money move.

Big E was a horrible champion much like Kofi. His attire, to the way he walks and talks, everything about him was off.
Lesnar is a repetitive choice, but he's a credible champion. His current character change is very refreshing and you can see Lesnar feel like a natural now.
If WWE is going the route of Lesnar v. Lashley (both BL initials lol), they must bring up their fighting backgrounds, wrestling backgrounds, throw Shelton in there, have an actual ESPN press conference, etc. This screams 💰💰 then you add MVP and Heyman in there, this is could possibly be the biggest build since Rock v. Austin with just the star power and legitimacy factor involved. Can't wait 😁

Nothing bad to say about Big E, but WWE failed to book him properly as champ. It's hard to take someone seriously as world champion when they're shaking their hips like Shakira. It would have been the perfect opportunity to give E a solid update, put the New Day to the side, and make him feel and act like a threatening force. It's a bit like what happened with Kofi. I mean... good for them both, but they never elevated them either. E will probably never get his rematch and will go back to shaking those hips as if his champion reign had never happened, much like Kofi did.
Hard to take him seriously? Rock was a lot goofier than E, a multiple time world champion, and is considered one of the greatest of all time. E has babyface charisma, why prevent him from using it?
