The transformers aren't just toys paired with a glorified toy commercial that is a tv series. Its art, entertainment, it has a soul. Transformers is my childhood and it will always will be, it means so much for me that i can't put into words.
What started as a toy commercial, has truly *TRANSFORMED* into something greater than it once was. A massive and beloved franchise with rich characters, fun and intense stories, and a world Beyond Our Wildest Imagination. Til All Are One.
As a kid, I didn't care to have the toys, I was more than content on watching the shows. My intro to Transformers was through Animated and Prime, Prime more so thanks to the Rock Bottom episode (it scared me lol). Years pass and I forget about Transformers, that is, until last year. Since 2020, my family had experienced tragedy after tragedy, and I didn't even realize how much I was drowning. There was no escape from it, it followed me everywhere like dark cloud over my head. But somewhere along the way, the world of Transformers snuck back in. The world, the lore, the characters, the designs, the different ways the stories could be told, somehow they found a way back into my heart. I became excited about them, about something again. I got back into drawing, because I couldn't stop thinking about them. I have received help over this past year, and life has gotten brighter again. But it was Transformers that gave me the final push to drag myself out of the hole, because I finally had something that brought me nothing but joy. And still does. I'm fully aware that Transformers is a toy line first and foremost, but that doesn't matter to me much. What matters to me is the love and care that these creators put into them (or don't, looking at you, Bayverse), and the happiness it can bring me and so many other people. Transformers made me realize that I want to pursue a career in storytelling, in whatever medium that appears in. And all I can say to that is: "Thank you."
This is very positive and enforcing message to people who don’t understand the true value of these figures. I’m almost 22 years old now and recently I’ve been building up my Transformers collection. My dad hates it whenever I buy a new figure because he thinks it’s foolish spending. I keep trying to explain to him that there are people even older than me that still collect these figures because of the true value that they hold. They’re not just toys. These are characters you can easily sympathize with. As Optimus Prime once said in Transformers Cybertron, “Though our bodies are made of durabylium steel, the hardest metal in the galaxy, we share the same thoughts, feelings, hopes and dreams that most human beings do.”
Thank you for the kind words! I tried my hardest to not only convey the fact that yes, I am an adult collecting toys, but that it's also ok to do so. Everyone has a hobby, something to collect, or spend their free time with. There's a lot worse things out there, but collecting Toys is no different than collecting parts to work on your car for example! Both can bring joy, and neither should be looked down upon.
Dude, I’m 20 and my dad is the same way, he doesn’t understand the effect prime had on us as kids to build the world and be a hero, from Peter’s on brother, if you want to be a hero, be strong enough to be gentle. This quote has stuck with me for years and I still think of it
My late mother and I watched Bumblebee (2018) together. She knew i love Transformers, and since Bumblebee transforms into a VW Beetle, she wanted to see it too. She had a soft spot in her heart for classic VW's, due to owning a 1963* Volkswagen Type 3 in the squareback variety. It wasnt even the only Squareback she owned, and it wasnt even the only VW she owned. She also had a diesel-fueled VW Rabbit and a 2000 New Beetle It was the last movie we watched together, and it was before she went off the deep-end with her paranoia and depression. (*Not entirely sure on the year of the Squareback. It was either a '63 or a '64.)
I remember vividly being around 4 when I got Rescue Bots Optimus Prime: my first Transformer. I'm 17 now and collecting to this day. Not just because the toys are good or I like the shows, but the characters are meaningful and are more human than a lot of characters out there. Optimus Prime became my childhood hero because of how much he cared about his fellow Autobots and I wanted to be like him. So many things have been influenced just cuz I like big robots. And no regrets there.
This was awesome, a great encapsulation of the soul of Transformers. It’s easy to get cynical and jaded with Transformers, and things like the Bayverse can become prime punching bags, but I love how you explained the inherent optimism at the core of it all.
Transformers feels more family-oriented than the Fast and Furious franchise. And thanks for ending the video on the hug between Charlie and Bumblebee. Easily my favorite Transformers movie
Transformers means so much to me as well. I have so many fond memories and have made amazing friends along the way thanks to this franchise. It is the concept of family that unites us around the toys and their stories. A couple of years ago, my fellow Transformers fans in my country organized a Transformers Expo at our city. We would bring our toys, build a bunch of dioramas, agree on how we would set every continuity and tell people about Transformers for eight hours straight for three days. We were so happy and we realized that we had taken the "work hard, play hard" a bit too seriously. We would tell stories about how we got this mold or this other repaint, how a toy reminded us of a happy or rough moment in our lives, how it reminded us of the people around us. And one of the most amazing things about this was that no one would envy other collectors, we respected and loved the fact that someone had a Transformer and a story behind it, no matter how big or small, no matter how old or new, no matter how simple or complex. Thanks for articulating this the way you did. Greetings from Ecuador!
Thank you for sharing your experiences with me! It’s so wonderful to see how much the franchise means to so many. They really are more than just toys (but the toys are awesome too)
As far as my memory of Transformers goes, it was a 2007 Optimus Prime toy that my parents got for me, and I loved every moment of playing with it. Later I would get to see the first live action film at a relatives house as well as my first exposure to them on screen, and my 7-8 year old self was simply fascinated. Transformers Prime is where I’d say the franchise had its next big impact on me, as the story, characters and concepts were, again, something that simply fascinated me and is probably the show that really made me into the fan of the franchise that I am today. 1:51 Also I’m glad I’m not the only person who thought this, at least upon first watching of the show. Tbh his character even now still kinda bothers me looking back. The only thing I really remember liking about him was his naivety, but with that said, his personality of being the practical plain definition of a hero or knight in shining armor I think was the most annoying thing for me when watching his character on display.
Transformers to me isn’t about the war or the toys that bring success into this franchise. It’s about storytelling and the characters that go deep in depth into who these fictional mechanical beings are. They are people who we can really relate to. Regardless of what faction they’re on…
I got through the hardest times of my life by asking myself “What would Optimus do?” Be brave. Be gentle. Be kind. Be the hero you’re waiting to save you.
I wish I could personally relate to this, but the only toys I have are a few of my little brother's rescue bots toys and some mcdonald's happy meal RID toys 💀

It's sad that people who aren't Transformers fans will never see the Transformers as anything more than just a toy line and big robots that kill each other, explosions, sexy women, annoying human characters and Devastator's balls. And yet they think they have the right to judge what THEY think a good Transformers movie is. And hold the Bay movies as the gold standard of Transformers. Simply a beautiful video, I can totally see the transformers series having a meaning of family in it. I also love you mentioned the times you were getting said figures at your young age it makes me feel nostalgia.
Great video, I remember as a kid loving Prime and the family focus on it definitely is what made it stick I'd say because that has always been my problem with the movies they don't tend to show it that well in my opinion
Beast wars did use the term "family" but the way all the characters interact is absolutely like a family, especially between primal and cheetor, dinobot and rattrap. Prime by far is the best written show.
Yo wait, your in San Antonio, i saw that Heroes and Fantasies loose transformers display. I live in San Antonio as well, glad to see TH-camrs visiting it!!
It might be a toy commercial, but its also art. Having to sell toys is this a restriction placed on that peice of art, and great art is born through restrictions.
Sorry, but I keep hearing that people are faced with this "toys" response as if it's not one of the most successful franchises of all time with some of the most beloved characters, period. I know people who love the films, G1, Beast Wars, Prime, the games, and many other versions. In person, I've actually found less people that actually collect the toys than engage with its media. Of course, people who've only seen the films are more common these days and don't even know the half of who these characters are, but the toys themselves are increasingly expensive, and good ones are almost all for hardcore fans. When I show people my collection, they're actually surprised, so "They're just toys" doesn't seem like a common response at all aside from cynical people online.
@@LorenzoDoesntExist that’s understandable. In my life, I have almost always gotten the response “oh the toys” so I suppose that proves it’s on a case by case basis 💙
@@DeltaTrion I get that, I'm just saying that those people who treated your interests like that are the outliers. Like I said, toy collection is getting expensive, so if those people are saying "just toys" to one of the most iconic things ever made, maybe they're not a good indicator of pop culture in general.

Thank you for the kind words and support! You should take a stab at making content as well 💙💙💙
Simply a beautiful video, I can totally see the transformers series having a meaning of family in it. I also love you mentioned the times you were getting said figures at your young age it makes me feel nostalgia.
Great video, I remember as a kid loving Prime and the family focus on it definitely is what made it stick I'd say because that has always been my problem with the movies they don't tend to show it that well in my opinion
Fantastic video man. I feel like you really nailed what the Transformers is all about here. Keep up the great work!
5:14 "plastic" ... you've aged yourself my young friend.
Now let me tell you about the ancient eras of die-cast metal...
Haha, check my community tab and you’ll see my post about diecast 😉
This might be my favorite video yet delta, I like the new approach 💪💪💪
Transformers *handshake* Masters Of The Universe *handshake* Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Started as toy commercials, became legends
"while they may never use the word family, comrade fits nicely" if you like the comic series 'Bone' you'll know this
Beast wars did use the term "family" but the way all the characters interact is absolutely like a family, especially between primal and cheetor, dinobot and rattrap. Prime by far is the best written show.
4:03 that transformation though...
Great job man love your work and i cant wait for your next video
Bro I had that skorpanox loved him
Yo wait, your in San Antonio, i saw that Heroes and Fantasies loose transformers display. I live in San Antonio as well, glad to see TH-camrs visiting it!!
It might be a toy commercial, but its also art. Having to sell toys is this a restriction placed on that peice of art, and great art is born through restrictions.
we could say that they are “more than meets the eye”
As a Gundam, I more than understand
Banger
I love this
Fabulous
Well said!
Dude I took a optimus to a dentist appointment because I was like 6
Amen my guy!
Genuine transformers is good but it's all about the 3rd party figures.
yes and roll out
Sorry, but I keep hearing that people are faced with this "toys" response as if it's not one of the most successful franchises of all time with some of the most beloved characters, period.
I agree with this heavy, especially when it comes to Gundam as well.
Middle aged? How old are you? You sound 20
Well spoken bud, couldn’t have said it better myself 🫡
