This video was made BEFORE Transformers One released in theaters. So, my comment about the community not being too open to the new take of the franchise was obviously directed at backlash when the first trailer dropped. That being said, I still think the video holds enough merit to be released 💙
It’s all good. I already understood this as soon as I watched the video, as I also had a similar problem at releasing my videos onto TH-cam. My Transformers One Parody video was made a couple days before the movie even came out, and because I avoided spoilers of the movie my video pretty contained info on what I knew from the trailers. That being said, I get where you’re coming from. The Transformers Fandom can be very picky at times (Not as toxic as Sonic or Star Wars Fans, but still very judgmental.) But if I had one thing I would like to add, it’s that since Transformers has multiple continuities of course there’s gonna be multiple fanbases who had their own views on what Transformers is… but because there’s multiple continuities with their own set of fans, it could lead to some fandom…cultural war, where one fan of a Transformers series wouldn’t have the same opinion as another fan of a Transformers series. I’ve been seeing this thing everytime I say something bad about Michael Bay’s Transformers movies. Where the fans of Bay’s work gets insulted whenever I say something like “Oh DOTM’s ending was trash. Bay’s Optimus Prime is a terrible psycho.” To which I get responses from Bayverse fans calling me a G1er (Which is just wrong as im a fan of Transformers Prime, which is the show I grew up with), and then they bring up how Optimus Prime in the Bayverse is realistic and badass… so I think because each fan grew up with a particular version of Transformers, they just have their own version of who Optimus Prime is, or what Transformers is all about. It’s like comparing religions and which god is god (Whether it’s the Christian God or Zeus of the Greek Gods). We all have our own interpretations of what Transformers is, that it’s kinda like mythology. Sorry, I know i basically rambled on something that has nothing to do with the video. But despite what I said, I do think the video holds up. It’s definitely a video made for me.
Yeah, that trailer was either a profound misstep or brilliant stealth marketing, I'm not sure which. It focused too much on the lol-so-random humor of the movie, without the greater context. I'm all for levity and humor in my giant shapeshifting robot cartoons, but from the first trailer it seemed to be making fun of the characters rather than taking them seriously (think of missteps like Thundercats Roar). But no, the full movie took them deadly seriously and put an interesting spin on the lore of the origin of the Autobots and Decepticons and their leaders. They still did Bee kinda dirty, though. A small but loyal and talented scout, and they wrote him like Benny the Spaceman from The Lego Movie.
@@ShockwaveFPSStudios Optimus Prime is kind of special because he's kinda like Superman. A lot of comic, film, and television writers love to write grimdark or even *evil* Superman because they feel that's more realistic, but the point of Superman is not to be realistic. It's to transcend the shitty nature of our day-to-day reality and lift our spirits with hope. That's why I think Chris Hemsworth was actually a really great casting choice for Orion Pax/Prime in TF One. His sunny, Australian surfer boy personality helps get Pax over as a character whose optimism will not fade, even in the face of the dire revelations made later in the movie, inspiring hope amongst the miner bots and, ultimately, the audience. I'm sorry, I know that the Bayverse fans might disagree, and I guess they're entitled to their opinions but those opinions are wrong. Michael Bay hated Transformers, his universe shows it, and TF One carries the true essence of Transformers lore, like an unfaltering Spark.
@ShockwaveFPSStudios I think transformers fans, me included, need to learn to take and understand criticism. I grew up on g1, Micheal bays transformers, some of energon, cybertron, and animated. In terms of tv and film. Even I can admit that the only time Bay did Optimus justice as Optimus was the first movie. Transformers one is so refreshing to actually see Optimus Prime be Optimus Prime again. As a fan of the high moon games and the transformers exodus novel, but still hasn't seen transformers prime (I need to get on that) there's still some content I want to see adapted onto film that I don't think I'll get in the exact way I want, and that's okay.
Considering that Transformers and G.I JOE were both based off REAL LIFE civil war it's still shocking knowing that children for Forty years have been seeing death through fictional robots.
Unironically the writing for that show is so good when it simply did not need to be, but I'm so glad it is. They poured so much love into that show and made something truly wonderful. It's such a good take on humans and cybertronians as partners to the point where the Burns family might actually be my favorite set of human companions. The Bots have amazing chemistry with their adult partners (Boulder and Graham, my beloveds 💖💖💖), and it's so fucking cute seeing them get along with Cody. It's also just funny as hell at all times. Everything Blades has ever said lives in my head rent free.
Rescue bots I think is a perfect example of what a kids show should be aiming to be. I remember originally putting the show off because it came out the same time as prime and thought it was just transformers for kindergarteners because of the toys and artstyle, while prime was the real deal meant for the people with a more developed brain. However when I actually watched the show I was surprised how hooked I was to it, unlike other kids shows (especially ones nowadays) rescue bots didn’t use “being a kids show” as an excuse for poor writing or talking down to it’s audience all the times, it tells good stories with good lessons and has good characters. While it doesn’t have the decepticons or anything like war that other shows may have, the show wasn’t aiming at that and I believe achieved what it was trying to do really well. Only thing more I could wish from the show is if it had more connections to TF:Prime as they technically fall into the same continuity and Optimus in TF:Prime vaguely references an episode of rescue bots where he was exploring an Energon mine iirc
I came into Transformers off of Rescue Bots, and I see so many people in the Fandom talk down about it. It's refreshing to see the show getting some love. This was my first introduction to characters like Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Blurr, and the main four bots remain some of my favorite characters in the franchise of all time. When I got older I watched Prime, then immediately went back to rewatch Rescue Bots and connect the two. There was even an episode during season 2 of Rescue Bots that took place during the relic hunt in Prime. I hope one day to see the likes of Heatwave, Chase, Boulder, Blades, Salvage, Servo, Hightide, and Quickshadow revisited in new media, be it comics or shows.
I grew up on aligned continuity too and all its media is great for all audiences my parents would want to see the next season of rescue bots as much as me
Everyone has their own entry point and it sucks to hear yours put down. I’m sorry people don’t always give this one a chance. I’ve never seen it personally but even I recognize its value in building new fans like yourself. Even if people put it down, just know you got a pretty great entry point all things considered:)
I loved Rescue Bots, too! Yeah, it’s sad when one’s exposure media is put down a lot. I didn’t get into TF until I saw Bumblebee in Bayverse and then TF Animated, Rescue Bots, and G1 cartoons (on dvd) later on. Prime, I’ll have to watch more, but I sort of like it, too. I’m also liking Earthspark, and that also gets put down a lot as well, so I definitely feel you! 😢 I seem to like more of the lighter stuff of TF, which makes me the opposite of most TF fans who want more of the dark and gritty, heh.
Me before discovering Transformers: "This is just a show for kids designed to sell some silly transforming robot toys." Me after discovering Transformers: ["Fortunate Son" and Vietnam flashbacks intensify]

Getting into Transformers as a full adult who only ever had passing interest in the Bayverse films because I liked robots but never was attached to specifically "Transformers" it is nice to know that unlike many franchises with the same if not longer lifespan that there really is a continuity for everyone. From Saturday morning cartoon with low stakes to these war epic space dramas with philosophical questions and conversations.
Oh gosh you got the edgiest, angstiest tf show right next to the kiddy-est one. Personally my answer would be for everyone, but can't wait to hear ur thoughts!
I always preferred to watch each Transformers series with an open mind. Each version has its own thing and it doesn't really matter if it is aimed more at a child or older audience. That's something I like about the franchise: the variety.
Love that we have Variety. I am a very quiet Star Wars fan, and while I do enjoy the interconnected universe, I think I prefer having a franchise that can try new things whenever it wants without the fear of "braking the canon".
I can agree with that. EXCEPT robots in disguise 2015. First of all I can't stand Bumblebee's design in that show, second of all Optimus Prime is disrespected, and last but definitely not least all the characters are assholes.
I watched both Prime and Rescue Bots as they released, and it was a beautiful mix for a young me. I feel you need a mix of both mature and joking to have success, but thats just me.
I had the same experience! I ended up following Prime more closely because I was able to catch episode drops more consistently than with Rescue Bots, which I remember playing kind of infrequently, but I still enjoyed both shows nonetheless
I was part of the community that said there was more to Transformers One than what the trailers showed us, I think I also remember saying it will turn out to be like Animated, Cyberverse, or Earthspark on a bigger budget, and suffice to say, I was right.
Yeah, I love Rescue Bots. I watched a few eps some time back and I was just like, damn, this is a really great kids' show. And the way it fits into the greater Transformers lore, with Optimus Prime giving the rescue bots a special mission, allowing the writers freedom to unfold their stories in a kid-friendly way without having to fulfill older fans' expectations about lore tie-ins, was brilliant.
It's a great show to have on in the background imo. As it is targeted towards a younger audience, there is not as much heavy storytelling, but still very enjoyable and expertly crafted.
Growing up in the 80s, Transformers has been part of my life one way or another for almost as far back as I can remember. I've liked some incarnations more than others, but in at least so far as shows go, I've always found something to appreciate.
When I was a kid my dad got me some transformers. Armada Starscream and Eventually Robots in Disguise Optimus in 2002. Now I’m 22. I bought a bunch of transformers to make the kid inside me happy as a work hard at my corporate job.
Rescue Bots was pretty good even though it can get ridiculous sometimes like they eventually become Triple Changers including Optimus Prime and have dinosaur forms. "What?! How?! Why?! I have so many questions!" - Aligned continuity Shockwave if he saw that since this is the same Decepticon who had forcibly reformatted Grimlock and his team into Dinobots yet Rescue Bots and Optimus Prime can do it without problems.
@@Gojirazilla8 and blades' T-Cog was temporarily effected when he tried scanning his dino mode and he couldn't change into copter mode either. Though by the end of the episode he was fine lol
@@Gojirazilla8 Yes. Rescue Bot heavily implies that becoming a dinobot has a drastic effect on the transformer’s mentality. It messes with their energon levels and causes them to act feral while in Dino mode; and they had to wear special energon plates just to balance everything out and maintain control. I haven’t watched Robots in Disguise, but in Earthspark it shows that Grimlock has limited control over his Dino mode and easily loses control if he’s mentally overwhelmed or in distress. (Jawbreaker, who’s normally a softboi, also became more hot blooded when he took on a Dino mode.)
@@trika91 I would love to see a series where we get a glimpse of the Dinobots before the beast modes. Though I think instead of just warriors it would be interesting to see them as a harsh environment exploration team. Grimlock is still a dedicated fighter but a leader, Swoop could be a airlift heavy recovery expert( in fall of Cybertron Swoop carries Grimlock without issues despite being the smallest of the team) and Slag, Sludge and Snarl could be dedicated vehicles for specific terrains.
I wrote this comment on the studio trigger video and I'm just going to say it again because it pretty succinctly captures my thoughts on transformers. "[...] Transformers has never just been one thing. What makes it resonate with so many people is that it changes, that it evolves, that it tries something new. That there's a passion behind the storytelling of all of these characters that started with a bunch of people being told they need to come up with a story for these imported Japanese toys from multiple different toy lines." What makes transformers special is how it embraces the concept of reinvention and reinterpretation. When allowed to do something different, the writers can tell some amazingly resonant stories for a variety of audiences.
I’m a 30-something that watched Beast Wars in elementary school, but I’d otherwise consider myself a new Transformers fan, and also new TMNT fan incidentally! I find the critiques for both are relatively similar: “not mature enough” “diverges too much from the OG” “needs to diverge more”. I imagine it’s inevitable when these franchises span so many decades, and is in fact proof that it has really captured all sorts of audiences! I’ve been just randomly getting into the old catalog of comics and animated series, and it’s interesting to see or sometimes guess which demographic the content captures, what they do well, what they didn’t, and in some cases what’s a byproduct of its time, etc. I appreciate and agree with the take that children’s media should be given as much, and even more care, than shows for older and general audiences. Shows that respect children’s intellect are what will stick to them the most, I think! Your vids are great, I appreciate the thoughtful takes.
Yes!! Couldn’t have said it better myself. “Transformers is a franchise for people who are children…at heart” that is so true, not only for this franchise…but for many others as well!
I think Earthspark is a great show and the actual story elements (Post war) Season 1 episode 16 is one of the best episodes that though a kids show, deals with the aftermath of war.
The Funniest thing about RB is that, albeit retroactively in the later seasons, it does share a continuity with Prime. And with that comes the contrast of how we view transformers. RB is a show near absent of the Autobots usual counterparts, the Decpticons. And Optimus does his best to keep the four, and many more, out of the war. And so for the first time, to my limited knowledge, we see a better glimpse as to the character side of the transformers without entirely focusing on the war. It does still come up, it's Heatwave's entire character arc, but the focus is entirely on the relationship between the bots and their human emergency response partners. Which brings up a second point, the Burns' are the best possible combination for human side characters as they can engage with the danger, at least up to a certain point. This makes everyone seem more like equals rather than just these big imposing machines coming down from on high to help the poor weak humans. This is a longer comment than I originally intended. Thanks for bringing attention to this much underrated series. It's a joy to watch and I hope more people give it a shot because of this.
The Burns Family is the best thing that could've happened to Transformers; to autobots in particular and to us as audience. The standard that these human partners reached is so high I think we'll now have to wait a loooong time before something like this happens again. A GEM 🎉
I believe any form of the Transformers is made for ever generation. The Transformers can teach use many valuable lessons in life. And while we as Transformers fans may bicker or dislike any other forms of Transformers, we are all still here for the magnificent robots in disguise. I believe as Transformers we should stand together and learn to embrace all forms of Transformers whether you enjoy the shows, movies, comics, games, etc. Till all are one my friends. May the Primes watch over all of us
This was fantastic! I think that Transformers can take so many things for granted nowadays: 40 years worth of toys and media to catch up on, so many different aesthetics and engineering styles, countless artists, actors, writers, and engineers that have made every part of this franchise viable; there’s always something for someone in this community.
Amazing Video! For me as aTF fan on the more younger side I grew up with a lot of different versions of Transformers between having the first season of G1 on dvd and watching little of animted on tv plus also watching a lot Rescue Bot and Prime when they first came out on the Hub, for me I definitely agree with you on Transformers being for everyone. P.S. when I was around 6-7 I was so confused on why there were no Decepticons in Rescue Bots so I had my Rescue Bots toys face off aganist Deceptions when ever I played with them.
I grew up with the original show and toys, and followed with varying interest over the years. I bounced off Earthspark a few episodes in at my first attempt to watch it. When I came back to it a year later I was impressed by the joy and exuberance of the show, the vitality of the characters I had missed the first time - especially when they increased the character roster and maintained that quality. I was overjoyed to see a non-binary Transformer introduced, and the variety of wonderful new characters building on the strength of the Malto family. Transformers: there's something for everybody.
I agree about almost everything said in this video but your just wrong about cyberverse. At first glance it could put in with other tf “kiddy shows” but once you see the show and see how the characters grow and how the show wraps up, it become probably one of the best tf show out there. Anyways great video and give cyberverse a watch maybe skip the first season but everything after that is peak.
Somehow Siege and Cyberverse both feature younger more reckless versions of Optimus, yet Cyberverse manages to understand the character and execute this concept much better despite seeming like the more kid targetted rendition. Not to mention one of the most deep and interesting takes of the transformers mythos comes from transformers animate. Transformers shows, just like the boys themselves, have and will always be more than meets the eye
He'll yes for the Rescue Bots praise! I grew up on that show, and it's what got me into transformers as a whole. I'm 18 now and Rescue Bots is STILL my all time favorite transformers show and I've watched alot of the mainline cartoons. Its my favorite because, to me, Rescue Bots never had any glaring or even major story issues (I genuinely can't think of any). Rescue bots also has my favorite human characters, I love the Burnes/Greens far more than any other human characters in other tf media, they are some of the few that I don't mind full episodes focusing solely on them. I love prime, but honestly, I liked Animated more even though it's less dark because I thought it was funnier. Honestly, I don't understand the Earthspark hate (pre season 2) either. I ADORED Earthspark (Season 1), and I loved the new incarnations of the characters, Earthsparks Grim & Bee are genuinely some of my favorite versions on those characters. I also loved the terrens, especially Twitch. The themeing was great, and the show was unique. The reason it failed as a show for me was BECAUSE it left these original ideas behind. Earthspark season 2 is a disaster, the first 10 episodes so far have destroyed everything the show stood for, all the themeing about second chances, cutting screen time of great characters, downgrading the animation, and destroying amazing ideas they had for these characters. All because they think the deceptions HAVE to be pure evil, they just HAD to make it dark(even though it HAD amazing darker scenes already?) or whatever the hell they were doing in episode 9/10. Point is you can have a show aimed for a younger audience and still have it be amazing. Rescue Bots is the ideal example of this (if you haven't seen it, watch it pls its amazing trust me)
Rescue Bots yessss that's one of the Transformers shows I grew up with next to Prime! Definitely agree with what you said about that show, especially with the statement about Earthspark. It's still one of my all-time favorite Transformers shows of all time. It was one of the series that actually made me almost tear up in certain emotional scenes like in shows like the owl house. (Earthspark Bee, Earthspark Megs, and Nightshade are my top favorites for characters from that show) Season 2 tho really is a disappointment. And it wasn't just the animation of the season ether, the MINUTE I started watching I already felt like something was off. And like as you said, dropping the nuanced theme of second chances, dumbing down characters and reverting most of them back from the most basic version of themselves really left a salty taste in my mouth. That's especially present with the Decepticons of S2, ESPECIALLY Starscream they did that man so dirty. The one compliment I could give to the season is Hashtag's new design. It's sleek, simple, and looks much easier to draw. Maybe in a future year or so I would want to rewatch Earthspark, just not its second season I'll get bored out of my mind watching that. The show itself wasn't treated so well ether, the show unfortunately didn't have the best toys (which those toys didn't end up selling well) it was put on a streaming service that (unless you didn't have DVDs for shows or movies like the Sonic movies but still wanted to rewatch them) that no one was watching on, most people not giving the show a chance at the start, and because of some things that happened in the background like Hasbro or Nick coming in to change everything about it until they decided to cancel it. The show was done so dirty.
Transformers: Rated E. Is the overall message I got from your video and it’s absolutely right. Audience young and old are attached to Transformers and that’s beautiful! Transformers One is one of those examples. Watch it, it’s AMAZING!
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed Rescue Bots. After watching Prime, I was looking for something new and tried it out. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with EarthSpark, not because it was made for a younger audience, (Remember, I like Rescue Bots) but because the execution of the characters and the story didn't speak to me.😢
I've yet to give Earthspark a chance, which is why I didn't really cover it in this video. I think once the show is fully wrapped up, I'll go binge it and see if it works for me or not. There some neat ideas I've seen come from it, but we shall see.
@@DeltaTrionYou should definitely give Earthspark a chance. I’ve seen a couple episodes of it, and honestly… I like it. I wasn’t a fan of the War For Cybertron Trilogy, and I was hesitant to watch Earthspark at first. But when I watched a couple episodes of the show… it was, surprisingly good.
I think this is a very good video A lot of people want transformers media to fit whatever stage of life they’re in which is fine but they also don’t realize not everything with the transformers name is made for their standards of maturity but I think if you wait long enough the franchise will eventually get back to you with something fit for your taste
Also not saying that it being for a different means you can’t have an opinion on it being good or bad but I’m just trying to say you can’t expect all media with transformers to have the same storytelling and intended audience
Absolutely! People in general need to be better at knowing the difference between "I don't like this" and "this is poorly made". Too often do people not enjoy something and just go straight to "this is horrible" rather than taking the time to think about which it is (which it could be both!)
I had to purchase the Rescue Bots Chase figure when he came out this year. Never seen the show but what I know about it, it seems lovely and his first generations toy was too cute/cool at the same time to pass up
I'm relatively new to the Transformers fandom, having come in when ROTB was released. I was going through so many issues with my own mental health that I honestly picked a random movie to watch at the theatres just as a form of escapism. As a seasoned fan who has now watched and consumed most of Transformers media since then, I understand a lot of the issues fans had with it and why it is ranked so low. But to me, at that moment, it was one of the best I'd seen and quite possibly my favorite to this day. It did so much for me, helped me climb out of the terrible spot I was in, and led me to so many great experiences that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. It's also become a focus of my capstone research project, so there's no way out now lol! I love how the franchise has a bit of everything for everyone, and I can't imagine my life without these robots now.
I have a friend who jumped into the franchise with Siege and RotB, and while neither of those are my favorites personally, I can 100% respect the people who love them. One of my childhood favorite shows of all time was Transformers Cybertron.... it's not great, especially compared to TF Armada, and yet, it hold such a special place in my heart
Rescue Bots is my favourite show. You're absolutly right, saying that the mistakes a show makes don't matter because it's for children is wrong. Just like all the comments about how Rescue Bots is better than it should be because it's a kidshow annoy me to no end.
That's a term that is used a lot these days, especially on TH-cam that really irks me. "Better than it should be" or "X should not be this good". Not the greatest way of thinking of things tbh. If you have low expectations and are surprised, then that's great, but always expecting something to be "lesser" is no fun.
I once read the title "The change in their nature", for IDW's Transformers (2019) paperpack collection, as "Change is in their nature". And it rerally kind of stuck, because it really put a finger on a thing I really feel is something I like about Transformers: They do not stay the same. It'd be pretty silly to expect every Optimus to be the same forever. Or the Autobots to always be the good guys. Or Megatron to always be a Skeletorially cackling villain devoid of sympathetic qualities. I feel like IDW's original run capitalized on this theme of change as well - the series changed a lot, the war ended, Megatron got a really interesting arc. Everything is temporary, everything changes. Change IS in their nature. So when a new show appears that isn't really for me, I don't get upset. It doesn't detract from stestuff I like or the stuff that's come before. It's just another iteration, another permutation, It will pass, enter into the historical record, and be followed - not replaced - by another permutation. Infinite variety.
Nothing against G1 but I feel like the problem is current Transformers are having hard time escaping the legacy of G1 and when they did, most of OG fans despise it (the whole "truck not monkey" thing as an example) In the end, I feel like 2000s was the period where I find the most variety out of Transformers. There's a live action movies, Japanese anime (2001 RID and Unicron trilogy) modernized G1 (Animated) now they just G1-nified everything...
Dude g1 fans were praising animated and prime left and right....the problem isn't by default g1 fans (at this point pointing the finger at them is such a overused excuse to avoid looking at the bigger picture), g1 fans may like g1 the most but all ain't geewunners by default. The designs of the characters being g1 has little to do with the quality the story bumps out. G1 or not. A story can still be good or bad or be creative or predictable.
I was actually introduced to the franchise when my Dad rented the G1 movie from Crown Video alongside the G.I. Joe movie and watched them with me because he grew up with them and wanted to pass that on to me, But it actually wasn't till I started watching TFP years later that I really got hooked and me and my Dad still like to watch it together and read the comics then enjoy talking about them.
Man I absolutely loved Cyberverse. I really loved that it just had the freedom to do all sorts of weird things, especially in the third and fourth seasons
Short version: It’s for everyone If you want something for little kids there’s rescue bots If you want something from kids there’s animated g1 and maybe armada If you want something for teens there’s prime and beast wars And if you want something for adults there’s the idw comics Ik some of the stuff I said isn’t really the best examples but these were the best I could come up witj
Another perfect example of something "made for kids" that's enjoyed by everyone is The Amazing World of Gumball. Sure, the humor, absurdism, and creativity is primarily aimed more towards younger demographics, but you'll be surprised at not only how layered those jokes are, but how layered the characters themselves and their gradual natural evolution are. I gotta be honest when I say that I never liked any of the other 2010-present Cartoon Network shows so far, (Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Teen Titans GO!, etc.) but Gumball is so versatile that it almost makes the shortcomings with their other less favorable shows worth it. People often describe it as "the South Park made with bigger heart for all audiences" and it's easy to see why. I can even easily see Gumball's qualities in myself as someone with AuDHD, which I have no doubt that the writers are fully capable of revealing in the future given their track record, especially with season 3 and onwards (I won't spoil anything but developments related to Gumball's girlfriend and his mother's parents immediately come to mind) (And yes that show is my 13+ years long main special interest, which is unfathomably high praise given the situation, I suppose I am hyped for the next season, how could you tell???) Being "for kids" shouldn't be used as a crutch against good writing like you said. Some of the best writing comes from "children's" media as a matter of fact. "Heart of Ice" from Batman: The Animated Series literally won a Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Writing in an Animated Program". If Gumball was revealed to be autistic and validated for it then it would definitely qualify for that award as well, as well as bringing in significant attention towards autism and neurodiversity. Stuff like this genuinely matters to people, and I'm tired of pretending that it doesn't. It's why ableism and infantilization towards autistic people is a serious problem, we are ALL kids at heart regardless of who we are. *Kids are cruel, Jack. And I'm very in touch with my inner child.* ...Why am I even writing all of this? I doubt it would ever get any sort of significant attention, and this is assuming that anyone even cares. Lol
I really appreciate this sentiment. Transformers prime is a perfect example, because it was able to be serious without being overly edgy or foul. It proved that both older and younger fans can be satisfied together. Modern writers love to separate those demographics, but it’s 100% possible to please both at once. That’s a truly masterful achievement
This is why i love Transformers One. It's faithful to how the characters are so existing fans can enjoy it but it's still a fresh take on Transformers so it'll get new fans too. Just keep up what TF One is doing and it should be fine.
While many people are cashing in on the “THIS MOVIE IS BOMBING!?” trend to rake in the views I too agree that it seems like it’s doing well enough to move forward. We shall see what the future holds. I am hoping for the best
I think Transformers flexibility in what stories it can tell is its greatest strength, even if it means it won’t be for every fan. Some people might only like the movies, or a specific comic series, or just one show, and they’re all so different they can attract their own audiences. Every Transformers story has its own identity, and concepts and characters shift and change as time goes on. And I think that’s awesome, even if it means the series can be a bit intimidating to get into sometimes.
I will say what initially attracted me to the franchise when I was first introduced to it through the Unicron Trilogy & The Transformers 1986 movie, "both were available at a video rental placea back in the day" is that transformers was a kids franchise that wasn't afraid to have steaks, and actually kill characters off. This is something transformers was only able to do thanks to its cast consisting of robots, but the point still stands. I don't think I would care about the franchise as much without that early impact on me, seeing there was narrative consequences to the actions in the story, it made the story in a way feel more real. While different stories will naturally market towards different audiences, I see the franchise as a whole as a kids franchise with a slight edge over it contemporaries.
Rescue Bots was so fun. I was in middle school when it was airing and I was hooked on TF Prime, (still am), but every now and then id watch TF Rescue Bots and it was really good for what it was. Same can be said for the sequel as well
Beautifuly said, my friend. I was wondering if I would ever find anyone who would share my mindset about any animation, let alone Transformers, yet you summed up the Truest Truth of all "This show is for everybody; who is still a child at Heart" I recently fully understood what it means to have a child at heart and not let it "die". It simply means being happy about something. Still having love for that which you enjoyed, and new things. With Transformers everybody can find something for themselves, yet it does not abide by some arbitrery rule, and embraces the words of Walt Disney: "I do not make films primarily for children. I make them for the child in all of us, whether we be six or sixty" Till All Are One.
Avatar The Last Airbender was by far the most mature kids show I think I've ever seen in my life. Aang struggling with killing someone, Zuko standing up against his father for parental abuse and choosing his own destiny. Katara dealing with the lost of her mother and learning to forgive not the man who committed the crime but the person she held a grudge against because of said crime. Uncle Iroh teaching Toph that juet because someone is kind to you and over protective doesn’t mean that they see you as weak person. But simply that they want to show compassion and that they care about you. But by far the most adult thing I got from that show was Zuko trying to figure out just who he is and what his purpose is. Something people today really struggle with. Best kids show ever and that ending is just peak!
I love this video as a teen I get a lot and I mean a lot of hate for being a transformers fan people claim it is for little kids but underneath the surface of pew pew cars robots there. Are real struggles pivotal moments and I love that ever since I was 2 I loved this brand and I will carry that love to my grave thank you for a amazing video❤
This is the first time I’ve seen anything on the rescue bots cartoon. I might give it a shot. So far though, my favorite TF show is still Beast Wars. Mainly because that’s what I watched as a kid
I grew up with 4 pieces of tf media Prime Beast wars Rescue bots And bayverse I think rescue bots is the perfect gateway into the franchise for not just kids but adults too. I’ve seen people of all different backgrounds love this franchise it’s actually crazy cool how much reach this franchise has! I’ve seen people who are lgbtq, different races, cultures, and ages. From all around the world love this franchise. hell probably penguins watch transformers in the free time 😂
I started Transformers with the Cybertron anime so I for one would love another shonen take on Transformers, long transformation stock footage included 😂
I really enjoyed Rescue Bots! ❤️ I love stuff like the Bumblebee movie, too. (And I’ve started getting into Earthspark and rewatching some G1,and I’m enjoying both as well. I seem to like the lighter and sometimes goofy sides of TF, hehe. Have to watch TF Prime sometime, too.)
Recently I have found out that people wanted the new film Transformers one to be just as dark as the war for cybertron games but for me I actually wanted it to be lighthearted because I do not want to hear any Transformers drop a single F bomb 💣 plus I have been seeing the shows and I still like them.
I feel like ROD would’ve gotten a lot less hate if it wasn’t labeled as “TFP 2.” :( also Optimus didn’t need to be there :p but honestly I didn’t HATE rod, but I definitely see it’s flaws :(
I 100% agree with you. While it’s far from perfect, I think it had an uphill battle with being the follow up to TFP. Also yeah, what they did with Prime was interesting for sure, I can see where they may have had a good idea originally, but it just didn’t work well
Hey I'd love a proper continuation of the Beast machines story line. I want to know what happens on cybertron, any colony worlds, the fate of humanity in the future. I want to see Cheetor be leader of the Maximals and his journey. There's still room for interesting post war content. Also I feel most shows past transformers prime strayed away from the kid friendly body horror that transformers can hilariously be known for.
Any other parents of young ones out there, beware when watching Transformers One! My toddler won't stop saying badassitron in a gruff voice. I put on Transformers Animated to try to wash the memory away. 🙃
The rescue bots show I always say is connected to prime and robots in disguise due to the hints and episodes that directly hint and flat out say they are connected to the 2 shows.
To be honest, I'm the man who enjoy Cyberverse more that Prime (don't ask how this possible, lol) and in our Russian part of community many people hate others people for what they enjoy more, so you are actually not that wrong about Transformers Fans. Also i like to see that English Fandom didn't had a something like that (except shitting fans of really bad projects, like TLK 😂)
The only thing i want from the franchise is not depend too much from G1. Give nem designs for the characters from time to times, take inspiration from the other continuites and remember the 84 cartoon is not the only interation of the G1
That is the thing with Transformers, like the robots the audience it appeal to take on different forms. Including: - The kids who like to play with the robots seen on tv - The hobby enthusiasts who took an interest in the production of said toylines - The lore lovers interested in the franchise universe thanks to G1 interconnected history - The political minded individual who became interested in the whole backstory of the Cybertronian civil war (especially from the IDW comics and animated conitinuity) - The anime fans who got into it through the Unicron Trilogy of animes - The casual dudebros who got into it through Bayformers - The furry fandom who got into it through the Beast Wars line - The LGBT community who appreciate the trans commentary and characters portrayed in the IDW comics, Earthspark and Transformers One As you said, Tranaformers is for everyone
The biggest problem with the Wfc series was the bad voice acting. Peter Cullen and Frank Welker were asked to reprise their roles but Rooster teeth wanted to go non-union, meaning they didn’t want to pay the actors a fair wage. U get what u pay for.
Honestly, I think Transformers needs a Japanese-led show again. I think a key part of what made it successful in the past was the back and forth between American and Japanese creative influences, and in recent years it's been leaning almost exclusively American, and it has undeniably stagnated in some ways as a result. Transformers has its roots in mecha anime and American superhero, but lately I feel like blend is kinda becoming unbalanced, and it would be good to inject some new blood into franchise again. I'm obviously not saying that we need to excise the American influence from the brand, just that there's a certain creative flair it had back in the day that's kinda absent now.
Transformers has endured for the past 40 years for the same reason TMNT and Batman have lasted as brands so long: It’s a core concept malleable enough to be - if you’ll pardon the phrasing - transformed into a variety of tones and settings, from Rescue Bots, to the War for Cybertron games to Animated to Beast Wars to the live-action films.
I still recommend you check out Beast Wars II, in fact it would have been very powerful to have referenced it in this video. It addresses the audience of transformers in a very interesting way through the themes of the story. It's a big spoiler for the ending of the show, so it would be impossible to discuss without spoiling an important thematic beat to the story. It is a very goofy show and saddly suffers from very middling animation during the later half of the show, which turns off most people from finishing the show. I don't think it will disappoint. It has interesting things to say about the franchise. Most importantly of all, do not skip the clip show episode "The Artificial Planet Nemesis" episode 29. The new scenes featuring Galvatron are very important to the themes of story and his characterization. I recommend you watch Karyuudo subs fan sub of the show and check the video description for translation notes.
Transformers prime was actually better than robots in disguise💢💢💢💢🤔 2:07

Same!
@@dustbunny6381 Man, where did them times go?
Genuinely impressive how they pulled it off with no decepticons
It's really good. Hearing references to Prime while also developing its own story is crazy. Rescue Bots is actual peak
I grew up watching Rescue Bots and it is funny to me watching older fans watch Rescue Bots for the first time and figuring out how good it is
Rescue bots I think is a perfect example of what a kids show should be aiming to be.
"people in the fandom talk down about it" Well that's bc most tf fans have an IQ of a worm
Chief Burns is like a human version of Optimus Prime.

There's a transformers project for everyone I think, I'm excited for the video!
Oh gosh you got the edgiest, angstiest tf show right next to the kiddy-est one. Personally my answer would be for everyone, but can't wait to hear ur thoughts!
I think both extremes are to insinuate the quality and quality that are in between, thought all shows can be centered
The kiddiest is rescue bots academy

It really is a great show! Loved watching it even as an adult.

34 year old Transformers fan here 👋 Rescue Bots is so, incredibly good! I've rewatched the series 3 times
Word
I can agree with that. EXCEPT robots in disguise 2015. First of all I can't stand Bumblebee's design in that show, second of all Optimus Prime is disrespected, and last but definitely not least all the characters are assholes.
I swear to god, I’m like the only one who finds Robots In Disguise 2015 to be underrated.
@@ShockwaveFPSStudios I love RID too
I watched both Prime and Rescue Bots as they released, and it was a beautiful mix for a young me. I feel you need a mix of both mature and joking to have success, but thats just me.
I had the same experience! I ended up following Prime more closely because I was able to catch episode drops more consistently than with Rescue Bots, which I remember playing kind of infrequently, but I still enjoyed both shows nonetheless
Rescue bots is a comfort show for me. I love all the characters!
I was part of the community that said there was more to Transformers One than what the trailers showed us, I think I also remember saying it will turn out to be like Animated, Cyberverse, or Earthspark on a bigger budget, and suffice to say, I was right.
And that’s fine because I like Animated, Earthspark, and Transformers One.
I’m so glad that I’ve found more people that love Rescue Bots as much as I do🥰❤️💙🧡💚
I think I will watch Rescue Bots. Thanks for the recommendation.
Well not without problems, in the show Prime went feral cuz of his dino mode for a little while. He got better though
That there's a passion behind the storytelling of all of these characters that started with a bunch of people being told they need to come up with a story for these imported Japanese toys from multiple different toy lines."
What makes transformers special is how it embraces the concept of reinvention and reinterpretation. When allowed to do something different, the writers can tell some amazingly resonant stories for a variety of audiences.
Expertly put!
Hearing this makes me realize how incredibly picky the TF fans are😢😢
I originally thought this too, but man oh man, the overwhelmingly positive response to this video tells me there’s still a lot of open minded fans
I appreciate the time you took to write this amazing comment! Thanks for the love and respect 💙💙💙
Keep it up Delta Trion, these video essays are amazing. From Skybound and more, keep making more Transformers essays im loving it.
A GEM 🎉
Chief Burns is like a human Optimus Prime
@@youwayo Perfect description, thank you for adding this, I completely agree!
Transformers is a versatile franchise with offerings that appeal to both kids and adults which makes it great.
Oh man, I actually really enjoy Cyberverse! I probably should’ve done a better job at speaking on it. For sure will make a video on it now
I have nothing to add. Beginning to end I'm with you %1000
Somehow Siege and Cyberverse both feature younger more reckless versions of Optimus, yet Cyberverse manages to understand the character and execute this concept much better despite seeming like the more kid targetted rendition.
(Earthspark Bee, Earthspark Megs, and Nightshade are my top favorites for characters from that show)
Season 2 tho really is a disappointment.
Great film! Loved it so much. I wouldn't call it a "kids film" but more a "family film".
@@DeltaTrion even better! Lol
@DeltaTrion it wasn't horrible, but it just didn't click with me the way some of the previous incarnation did.
I think this is a very good video
A lot of people want transformers media to fit whatever stage of life they’re in which is fine but they also don’t realize not everything with the transformers name is made for their standards of maturity but I think if you wait long enough the franchise will eventually get back to you with something fit for your taste
Earthspark does more to push forward the franchise than the Netflix trilogy
I hope Terrans are explored more in the franchise. It's such a great concept.
@@gabz_Gz agreed
Exactly
I had to purchase the Rescue Bots Chase figure when he came out this year. Never seen the show but what I know about it, it seems lovely and his first generations toy was too cute/cool at the same time to pass up
Toy robots are the right of all sentient beings
Rescue bots is the goat
Nothing against G1 but I feel like the problem is current Transformers are having hard time escaping the legacy of G1 and when they did, most of OG fans despise it (the whole "truck not monkey" thing as an example)
In the end, I feel like 2000s was the period where I find the most variety out of Transformers.
Short version:
It’s for everyone
If you want something for little kids there’s rescue bots
If you want something from kids there’s animated g1 and maybe armada
If you want something for teens there’s prime and beast wars
And if you want something for adults there’s the idw comics
Ik some of the stuff I said isn’t really the best examples but these were the best I could come up witj
Don't forget the movies.
Armada was probably the perfect balance, it managed to be fun and dramatic in a fantastic way.
I can even easily see Gumball's qualities in myself as someone with AuDHD, which I have no doubt that the writers are fully capable of revealing in the future given their track record, especially with season 3 and onwards (I won't spoil anything but developments related to Gumball's girlfriend and his mother's parents immediately come to mind) (And yes that show is my 13+ years long main special interest, which is unfathomably high praise given the situation, I suppose I am hyped for the next season, how could you tell???)
Being "for kids" shouldn't be used as a crutch against good writing like you said.
And I'm very in touch with my inner child.*
...Why am I even writing all of this?
Weird that the answer is in the thumbnail but it made me click it. Good job 👍
I binged Earthspark. I LOVE IT. Scottish(?) Megatron took a sec to get used to.
I will say what initially attracted me to the franchise when I was first introduced to it through the Unicron Trilogy & The Transformers 1986 movie,
"both were available at a video rental placea back in the day"
is that transformers was a kids franchise that wasn't afraid to have steaks, and actually kill characters off.
I was wondering if I would ever find anyone who would share my mindset about any animation, let alone Transformers, yet you summed up the Truest Truth of all "This show is for everybody; who is still a child at Heart"
I recently fully understood what it means to have a child at heart and not let it "die". It simply means being happy about something. Still having love for that which you enjoyed, and new things.
With Transformers everybody can find something for themselves, yet it does not abide by some arbitrery rule, and embraces the words of Walt Disney:
"I do not make films primarily for children. I make them for the child in all of us, whether we be six or sixty"
Till All Are One.
It's for every single one of us. And not just the men, but the women, and the children too.
I grew up with 4 pieces of tf media
Prime
Beast wars
Rescue bots
And bayverse
I think rescue bots is the perfect gateway into the franchise for not just kids but adults too.
I’ve seen people of all different backgrounds love this franchise it’s actually crazy cool how much reach this franchise has!
I’ve seen people who are lgbtq, different races, cultures, and ages.
From all around the world love this franchise.
hell probably penguins watch transformers in the free time 😂
Transformers Animated is a pretty good gateway too.
I started Transformers with the Cybertron anime so I for one would love another shonen take on Transformers, long transformation stock footage included 😂
FINALLY. Someone gets it!
Hot Take: I somewhat like RID15 as it was the second ever TF show I watched after Rescue Bots.
Have to watch TF Prime sometime, too.)
these hands are rated E for everyone!
Recently I have found out that people wanted the new film Transformers one to be just as dark as the war for cybertron games but for me I actually wanted it to be lighthearted because I do not want to hear any Transformers drop a single F bomb 💣 plus I have been seeing the shows and I still like them.
Specific Transformers media may not be Teenager or Darker. But there’s Media for people who are older, Stronger.
Cant wait for more great content!
Also yeah, what they did with Prime was interesting for sure, I can see where they may have had a good idea originally, but it just didn’t work well
glad rescue bots is being rediscovered. If NIcole dubuc is working on the show, you know its gonna be good.
2:24 I would argue it is NOT unfair, because it was made AS A SEQUAL, if they didn’t want that to be a factor it should have been its own thing
Giant cool looking alien robot can transform into any vehicle or object it wants and that’s pretty cool
It felt just like prime i personally loved one
As a not-diehard Transformers fan, RiD 2015 just sucks. It ruined what made Prime good.
TILL ALL FANS ARE ONE
That is the thing with Transformers, like the robots the audience it appeal to take on different forms. Including:
- The kids who like to play with the robots seen on tv
- The hobby enthusiasts who took an interest in the production of said toylines
- The lore lovers interested in the franchise universe thanks to G1 interconnected history
- The political minded individual who became interested in the whole backstory of the Cybertronian civil war (especially from the IDW comics and animated conitinuity)
- The anime fans who got into it through the Unicron Trilogy of animes
- The casual dudebros who got into it through Bayformers
- The furry fandom who got into it through the Beast Wars line
- The LGBT community who appreciate the trans commentary and characters portrayed in the IDW comics, Earthspark and Transformers One
As you said, Tranaformers is for everyone
I admit I was wrong about transformers one, it really wasn’t that bad, I’m sorry guys. Rise of the beasts still sucked though.
I like to find a person who doesn't get stuck on what he previously said.
Cannot believe they made a legacy chase but none of the others from the rescue bots crew... They better make a 4 pack later
Kids deserve good writing and shows just as much as adults. Even C.S. Lewis knew this.
It’s Universal; it’s made for everyone
Rescue Bots is an underrated show.
TOO MUCH MACARONI!
TOO MUCH CHEESE!
TOO MUCH CHEESE AND MACARONI!!!!
I'm obviously not saying that we need to excise the American influence from the brand, just that there's a certain creative flair it had back in the day that's kinda absent now.
you got me intrigued on rescue bots, though i really am not liking the toonboom/adobe flash aesthetic
ZEUS!!!
Make Optimus Prime play basketball again
And my life is yours
