One of the few recordings that have the tempo right.

Kent Kimball . Thank you . Most people I know have no idea who Bach is.

I think being a piano student at an early age helped me know the finer things in life and my father who bought me the best records.

Our family comes from Suffolk. I hope my Grandfather had the peace in 1713 of stroking a sheep then - as this gives me in 2023.

    Peace be with you...
Sheep may safely graze and pasture
    In a watchful Shepherd's sight
Sheep may safely graze and pasture
Sheep may safely graze and pasture
    In a watchful Shepherd's sight
    In a watchful Shepherd's sight
    [Verse 1]
Those who rule with wisdom guiding
Bring to hearts a peace abiding
Bless the land with joy made bright
    Mmm, oh
    [Verse 2]
Those who rule with wisdom guiding
Bring to hearts a peace abiding
    Peace abiding
    Peace abiding
Bless the land with joy made bright
    [Chorus]
Sheep may safely graze and pasture
    In a watchful Shepherd's sight
Sheep may safely graze and pasture
Sheep may safely graze and pasture
    In a watchful Shepherd's sight
    In a watchful Shepherd's sight

This is a secular piece -and he was buried in an unmarked grave, but I just like his music!

Is the song sung in German? Johann Sebastian Bach was a German composer.

It does not sound German to me: I listened to it twice now, but could not recognize any German word. On the other hand, I think I recognized a few English words here and there?! (But not completely sure.)
PS: here is a very good German recording, where I can understand almost every word:

      Sounds definitely different.

There's this cool thing now called translation. It's amazing. When one knows more than one language, one can translate something written in the first language into the second so that speakers of the second can understand what's being said! Incredible, I know.

Beautiful song, but I've somehow wondered about the language this was sung in. Also, I've been wondering about the actual words to the song.

If its not english, its probably German, seeing as how Bach was german

It's a cantata. A Bach's cantata. It's german. Bach was german you see.

Well of course Bach composed it in German! You can look up the original and English translation online.

He also composed for liturgical pieces that are in Latin.

Нет. Хор сокрушил хормейстер. С хором нужно работать.

It's a shame that it can't be translated into another language. A SERIOUS AND IRRESPONSIBLE FAULT! TH-cam automatic translation button is disabled! The music is beautiful, but what's the point if you can't get the message? Not everyone speaks the same language that is sung. (This comment was translated from Portuguese).

Хор звучит как веник, в разные стороны всё, бестемброво, фальшиво. Безобрано. Оркестр и дирижёр молодцы. Но автору стыд за это видео - зачем выкладывать уровень первой репетиции на публичное обозрение? Впрочем, это ваше дело. Слушать невозможно.
