You tube often provides many versions of the same piece. This is wonderful; it allows us to compare and learn which ones we like and why. Bravo these performers and bravo you tube.
The playing is so heavenly beautiful; it is the best of all versions I have listened to. I clicked on this recommendation from TH-cam, then I started crying listening to his peaceful excellent performance. The piece is very hard to play and require lots of controls, yet he makes it sounded so simple and easy. Bravo.
so beautiful, the phrasing, the selection of which voice to prioritize, all of it is perfect, the recording quality is fantastic as well. congratulations.
Gosh! The most eloquent performance of this music that I've ever heard. I wonder if Oliver Schnyder would consider making a commercial recording of this and other pieces by Bach?
I've said this on other posts; the scientist Carl Sagan said when he was part of the team deciding what recordings to put on the gold discs attached to the Voyager spacecraft said "we could put the complete works of Bach on them but that would just be showing off!" So true...!
I am learning so much reading these notes from people in their own languages. (Except for those using a different alphabet. Even so, I have learned to read Dmitry Hvorostovsky's name in the cyrillic - I think - alphabet.)
Artificial slowing for ‘artistic’ emphasizing IMHO does not honor the composer who wrote the music to be played AS WRITTEN not as some future pianist thought he could improve it by stretching out the passages because he “knows better” how great compositions should be played!!!
Its da dilida didadida not da lida . . . I guess modern players couldn't make out the faded glisses, staccatos and arpeggios Bach intended. Its like my hearing was blanking out. Unlistenable
I totally disagree. In my opinion Khaita's playing of this piece is too tense and unease. This piece should sounds simple, flowing, and peaceful despite it is quite difficult to play. I feels peace and grace listening to Oliver's playing in this video, such excellent control and beautiful voicing; he brings out the soul of this music.
Gorgeous, isn't it? Bach was the greatest composer in the world. Pure genius.

The solemn comfort of this piano is beyond compare
This is the best I've heard so far of this Bach piece. Oliver Schnyder has such incredible touch, and his performance is so expressive!
And hes so hot
Oliver Schnyder is one of the greatest living pianists today. I wish we could get him over here to NYC.
Truly, a stunning interpretation. Endless sensitivity.
No doubt he has independence of fingers, and total control of phrasing. What an honor to hear this performance. Bravo.
The Magic of Johann Sebastian Bach - universal music - the base foundation of music still to date - thank you
Just imagine to play the whole piece for the first time to yourself, after you have completed the composition: that must have been magical!
I listened to Petri and Fleisher, now to Schnyder. They are all giants. Maybe Schnyder is the giants beyond these giants with this interpretion.
Pure perfection. Lost for words really.
So beautifully played . Schnyder’s virtuosity combined with Bach’s utterly beautiful composition is such a wonderful combination xxx
🥰xxx…
It is so beautiful Mr Schnyder! thank you from heart!

Gorgeous!! Why have I never hear of this pianist? Sublime phrasing!
He is Swiss.
Oh my. Very beautifully played, indeed.
so beautiful, the phrasing, the selection of which voice to prioritize, all of it is perfect, the recording quality is fantastic as well. congratulations.
Thank you for uploading! Lovely and lovingly played. A true source of comfort during these incredibly difficult times.
Beautifullly imagined and played with laser-like clarity!
absolutely beautiful. thank you Oliver.
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. ABSOLUTE PERFECTION.

Ditto.
I absolutely agree!
I third that. :)
I tried to look for Oliver Schnyder in Apple Music and failed, I wish some day he is there❤

Beloved Bach....Wonderful .....dear pianist
I was so fascinated by the piece of music and looking for various versions of performance, among them, this is the one I liked the most❤
Che bella musica deve esserci in paradiso.
Now that's how it should be played! Delicate and with a little bit of pace, not like a durge.
👍🤣
The best performance!
Thank you Oliver for sharing your performance of this masterpiece. A nice arrangement and beautifully played.
Bravo. Splendid indeed.
This is beautiful.
So beautiful!
Great performance!

🌹🌹
the voicing in this arrangement is extremely hard
I concur.... It is virtually impossible. I am so wanting to play this piece, but it is too hard for me.

*THANKS A LOT, GREETING FROM MÉXICO!!!*👌👌👌
“Come all ye faithful” inspired by this piece?
Can’t read other comments. Does Any one know which transcription he was playing?
..........!!!!!!!!.........

Bach can be played on any instrument. Even on instruments that have not yet been invented.

In my opinion Khatia Buniatishvili plays this piece better and with far more emotion
I totally disagree. In my opinion Khaita's playing of this piece is too tense and unease. This piece should sounds simple, flowing, and peaceful despite it is quite difficult to play. @@dandelion1627 I agree with your Dande lion.
She seem to be in a bit of a hurry. Alessio Bax does a nice job. Check it out
IT sounds wonderful either way, with piano or pipe organ, if one is lucky enough to listen to each instrument.
