    Me personally, I think it was a huge mistake for getting rid of the 3.5L V6. That 2GR-FE was known to be bulletproof and was used in a lot of Toyota and Lexus products. It was even used in Lotus Evora. Only time will tell how long that four-cylinder turbo will last.

      I agree 100%. If I was in the market for an RX350, I’m buying one with the 3.5L V6. I don’t trust that 2.4L Turbo in a big SUV.

    As a owner to a recent Toyota/Lexus product, my bigger fear is having the car stolen. (Relay attack and CAN bus injection)

    • @TwoDollarGararge
      @TwoDollarGararge ปีที่แล้ว

      That was the fear with the keyless entry stuff too and I'm sure it happens oh well if someone steals my car then I just get a nice insurance pad I have a second daily

  • @anthonykiedis1765

    The old 3.5 V6 was a great motor (despite mine having a head gasket leak at 83k miles) but it was such a gas hog. This turbo 4 is a welcomed addition just for the gas mileage alone.

      What are you talking about, my 2011 Sienna gets 26mpg highway, other that a snow storm, I haven't gotten below 22. That's great for a minivan, and the RX weighs about the same and had almost the same drivetrain, so it probably got about the same.

      @@mattlimberg5763 the 3.5 in my 2015 IS350 F Sport got 13 city and 24 highway (17 combined) and I was in Eco mode at all times. This was typical for other members in our car group. Maybe it's a different engine and/or tuned differently than the one in the Sienna.
      My C8 Vette gets better gas mileage in Track mode...

      @@anthonykiedis1765 the is is rwd based, and the engine is turned up because of the traction advantage, which is slightly less efficient but it shouldn't be that low. That is a sportier vehicle, so I am assuming it was driven that way and that's why it's so low. The Corvette has plenty of torque so you don't need much throttle to get going.

    • @anthonykiedis1765
      @anthonykiedis1765 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mattlimberg5763 I couldn't believe it myself but when talking to other owners it was somewhat typical for that particular car. It was actually my daily at the time so I drove it like I would any other commuter car. I had an S2000 at the time for when I wanted to do spirited driving, which also got way better gas mileage, despite also being RWD and having way less torque than the Lexus.

    Great video Zac, I like the blue colour! We still don't get a non hybrid version of the RX in the UK

    Modern Lexuses are fine. They're perfectly adequate luxury cars and SUVs. As far as luxury cars go they don't do anything badly but they don't stand out either, with a few exceptions. They could be better but that Toyotaness of "don't rock the boat, reliability over everything" has permeated the brand. We'll see how long these new gadgets hold up. I suspect there will be early LS400s still running long after these have all hit the junkyard.
    There are several of these where I work. I can't get over the elephant seal nose whenever I see one.

    Great review. However, it felt like the designer and engineers were given a budget that had to be blown on this generation of RX. Regardless of the potential reliability, some of it was just unnecessary. I would still get one once it gets cheaper, and attempt to grate cheese with the front grille.

    I really like Lexus I always have at first I didn’t like the new Rx but It’s growing on me the new copper color I’m In love with but my only gripe Is just how awfully expensive Lexus has become over the years now there up there with German cars even more expensive now!

    I had a 2014 IS 250 and although I loved driving it, the tech was wonky. The GPS froze on several occasions which required me to pull over, turn the car off and back on to reboot the system. Not very convenient when you're in a bad part of town at night. This model not having physical handles to open the door is a questionable decision on a designer's part.

    • @leonchen89
      @leonchen89 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The car is the least of your worries of you can’t even pull over without fear of getting mugged/jacked. Perhaps move to another city.

      @@leonchen89 Moving is expensive and time consuming. Not being able to drive out of a bad hood immediately is more pressing concern than your city having a bad hood.

    I have to say Lexus mess up the rx inside and out the inside is just not has luxury has the previous model and the material for the inside are just downgrade and the outside is horrible the front of the rx looks so bad the previous mode had a better front and the back is not so bad but I wish Lexus would had keep the Lexus logo instead of speeling it out and the worst thing is the no v6 is horrible no one thing I do like is the new information system it’s way better then the old one wish it had a full digital gauage cluster not just a 8inch gluster that’s my likes and dislikes of the suv by lexus

    I agree. I doubt all of that technology will be still functional few years down the road and I'm sure repairs will be so expensive it will render entire car worthless. That alone makes it very expensive disposable toy. We can all thank our politicians for creating this kind of cars and getting rid of long lasting, simpler cars.

    Love the new styling, but not the F Sport grille treatment on here. Can't understand the appeal of the new door handles. I know Lexus has a fail-safe for it but it wouldn't have been needed if they retained regular, more stylish handles (as seen in the ES, UX, LS, and LC)
