Thanks so much for watching and happy Sunday everyone! Let us know in the comments below which of these two luxury CUVs you'd choose! Also, note that at the 9:28 mark, there is a typo saying the Lexus has a 3.4L Turbo instead of the correct 2.4L Turbo. Thanks 👍

You completely missed mentioning the true torque vectoring SH-AWD of the MDX. It makes a significant difference in snow and driving enjoyment in the corners (I know its no sports car but whatever its worth in a large SUV). If I am not mistaken the RX's available AWD has only brake vectoring when in a certain mode.

I test drove both 2024 Rx abd MDX . The engine in the MDX was far superior than the Rx in my opinion. The other factor is that the 2024 Rx didn't come with the panoramic roof, like the MDX. It was offered on the 2023. I purchased the MDX and love it!

Just got done driving a ‘23 MDX A-Spec for a few weeks while my TLX was in the shop. Picked it up with 25 miles and returned it with about 500. Overall I think Acura is the clear winner. With adjustable suspension, better cluster layout and look, and not to mention better looking overall! The new re design on the RX looks like complete garbage on the front end and the interior looks and feels cheaper compared to the Acura. All the features the MDX lost points in can be found on the Advanced model for the same price as the RX shown in the video. Also for those complaining about the Timing belt service in the V6, enjoy replacing that Turbo that will sooner or later either start to lose boost or just completely go out. Timing belt service is much cheaper then a turbo replacement.
One additional comment, the touch pad in the new Acura took me all of 2 seconds to figure out and is very intuitive and allowed me to operate without getting distracted from the road. Also it outperforms Lexus key pad system which just plain out sucks. I will say Toyota does always fall behind the curve when it comes to infotainment technology but it’s because they thoroughly test products before putting them in their vehicles but I just feel like they phoned in the RX while Acura is trying to make a statement with the MDX.

Ok, I'm going to make a counterpoint to the MDX love (although it is a great vehicle) in the comments. I think most who buy a Lexus RX prefer a quiet and softer ride. That was the issue with my wife comparing previous year's Lexus RX and Acura's MDX. The MDX seemed stiffer / sportier but she preferred the soft, what she feels is more elegant ride feel (her opinion). Most people who are into cars, will prefer a stiffer / sportier feel and like the BMW X# and MDX because of it but I think more people who are not that into cars, prefer the softer ride of a Lexus.

    • @tejasmurali9986
      @tejasmurali9986 ปีที่แล้ว +3

But for a family vehicle that I will be driving a lot, or on longer trips, and with family trips etc. the quiet, smooth, comfortable ride plays a big role.
A massive boat of an SUV has no place being sporty tbh. That’s why we have sedans and sporty lighter cars. I don’t need my family SUV to be backbreaking and loud and annoying to drive when I’m trying to enjoy a trip.

On the solid history of the more powerful J-Series V6, larger interior but tidy exterior, and standard 5-beam LED headlamps, its hard to argue that the MDX isn't a better buy here. Sure the Lexus has the hallmarks of quality and reliability(unproven on this new architecture), but the MDX isn't exactly lacking there either.
I think the MDX interior is still more appealing for this class than the Lexus, which comes across as more Toyota appropriate and the fake leather doesn't help. Yes the Lexus has a larger screen, but the Acura has better integration but a harder reach. And the 1:1 operation in the Acura takes a minute to get used to.
I'll take the Acura and save some cash.

The MDX is still a better car despite the RX being the freshest newest entry.
The Acura has more space, a better put together interior with more leather, more wood trim, a larger gauge cluster, air suspension, double wishbone fronts! And it’s the better driving car by far. The lack of a touchscreen in the MDX is worth the superiority of all other aspects of the vehicle
Not to mention the Acura has a v6 and turbo v6 and a superior 10 speed transmission. The hybrid is where the RX excels but not enough to look past it’s compromises

The 4cyl sounds horrible. It seems like it struggles even though it may not be. The road noise is ridiculous in comparison to my 2013, 2011, and 2008 RX. I finally purchased a 2022 MDX and absolutely LOVE IT!!!! The MDX handles quite nicely on the highway and in every day driving. I have no regrets. Lexus has chosen to take the cheaper route in this segment. In my opinion, it is not much of a step up from a Toyota; hence not worth the premium. No real leather, no 6cyl, no real wood as in previous models; this takes away from the prestige in my opinion.

Me personally I have never really been a fan of Lexus because they tend to design their vehicles for slightly older people. Like I question why would they not put a full digital screen for tachometer and speedometer? I will say this version of the RX so far has been the most "younger people" friendly. The MDX just has blown the competition out the water with their refreshed MDX and that is why we decided to get ourselves an MDX advance. Sure there are questionable decisions made on the MDX as well for example to go with a standard rear view mirror while everyone else in the segment has gone with both options of a standard rear view and camera. Every where else I personally believe the MDX beats the new RX hands down. Also price wise you are getting everything with MDX while I do believe for the top trim you will be paying more with Lexus.

    • @baileym4708

The thing you are missing is the "older people" are the largest market of this segment due to costs mostly (not all) prefer a softer quieter ride which would be why the RX sells so much. If you like cars, you will prefer the handling, stiffer/sportier feel of the MDX. If one is like my wife who doesn't notice much besides what she sees and hears, she prefers the softer/quieter ride thinking it is more luxurious over the sportier vehicles. I prefer Lexus reliability and mpg. But I do prefer v6 to v4 turbo on MDX. A bigger factor is I prefer 2 row optioned for more cargo room covered area to deter break-ins. But with gas priced so high I may need to go to hybrid model to get 36mpg rather than 24mpg. Reliability is still critical, best to look at reliability stats and buy next year model based on that.

Hey u! U missed one big smarter feature in the trunk bro u know what is it, it's a button that u press it then finish loading just walk away without press button on top gate that the gate automatically close for u, Lexus gx460 always follow mdx for smelling the smog. Third row seats are best in segments even much better than European.

Thank you for this comparison video. I would like to difference in cargo volume. My taste says the Acura has a more sporty look as I prefer the more luxury appeal and quietness of the Lexus as my edge. I'm not sold on adding turbo's however due to the extra maintenance it may generate. So a previous Lexus model with the V6 would be my choice since Honda engines require that expensive timing belt change and Toyota's normally do not.

zero empirical evidence for turbos from Toyota having maintenance issues. None. They build the legendary Supras. Get tired of redundant people saying turbos are inferior for zero evidence. Trucks drive hundreds of thousands of miles pulling loads with turbos. No problems.

MDX interface is a dealer killer. Had an older RX with the track ball and it was horrible. Also, it seems every Honda product is noisier than the Toyota comparable product. MPG is always spot on for Lexus Toyota. Acura is so close yet so inferior overall

@@traviscollins838 if you compare a gv80 interior to the RX you’ll see how lackluster the interior in the RX really is. Not to mention the technology and luxury has nothing on genesis. On top of that, the driving experience, performance , handling, comfort, luxury are simply better on the genesis full stop. The gv80 wipes the new RX from the inside out
