    This is my 2nd year teaching ESOL and I LOVE it! It takes alot more planning but it's worth it. For the most part they are very well behaved students, despite the culture differences.

    Hey, I just subscribed. I am an ESL teacher from Montreal, Quebec. I compose kids’ songs for my early grades, and have activity sheets to accompany them. I find that they’re a bit more modern and fun than the usual grade 1-2 stuff. The kids really like them, you should check them out when you have the time.

    Also, do you recommend taking the ESOL GACE (teacher certification test)?

    Good advice! But you'd better know grammar inside and out, unless you want to work for a lousy school. Mark's English Grammar Shortcuts is the best grammar book I've found. Anybody know of any others you can recommend?

    Dear Grace, thank you so much for sharing your experiences and knowledge on this channel! It's really useful! I am not a native speaker but I am planning on taking the CPE exam in a few years and maybe the CELTA programme if I pass my exam. So I wanted to know if you could give me some practical tips on how to improve my English?

    • @thegracecass
      @thegracecass  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good luck on your exam! Any practice you get with native speakers is great experience. The CELTA is very heavy on grammar, so any review in that area will help you a lot!

    Hey Grace! Nice videos! I have watched 1 thru 3 now. I am looking for some PT work in USA and maybe PT work abroad later if I retire overseas in a couple of years. One thing you did not address in these intro videos is whether one has to know a lot of the language of your students in order to teach them. Also, since I am not sure this is for me, I am looking to start in a lower cost online certification program. Any on your top5 list among schools that are under $400ish? Thanks!

    Hello
    Thanks for the very informative video. I am not a native speaker, but I do live in America. I am trying to get a job as an ESL teacher, but not really sure what the options are. I have a masters degree in English linguistics and I have taught Eng. for ten years outside my country. And currently I am doing my masters in TESOL in USA.

    Great video. One tip - probably better to talk about 'the UK' or 'Britain', rather than 'England'. When you call the UK 'England', it would be a bit like me calling the USA 'California'. Another way to explain it, is that England doesn't include Scotland or Ireland or Wales - it's just England you see! If you look at a map, you'll see that Scotland, Ireland and Wales are not in England. A lot of Americans find this tricky to grasp, but using the California analogy sometimes makes it easier!

    • @thegracecass
      @thegracecass  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I got you! I do understand it, it's just that 90% of my ESL friends have been from England so it's just what comes to mind on the spur of the moment. But, you're right!

    Thank you! ^_^
    Is it wrong to say I just want to teach adults? Am I able to get work just teaching adults? Will I be questioned as to why I just want to teach adults or high students? I primarily want to teach adults though secondary option would be high school students.
    I think I enjoy teaching. Though unlike adults kids require much more regulation and discipline which I don't want to deal much with.

    • @thegracecass
      @thegracecass  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh no, that’s totally fine! You’ll actually find more jobs for just adults. Just be honest during the interview, there are a lot of teachers like you.
