Hey, I just subscribed. I am an ESL teacher from Montreal, Quebec. I compose kids’ songs for my early grades, and have activity sheets to accompany them. I find that they’re a bit more modern and fun than the usual grade 1-2 stuff. The kids really like them, you should check them out when you have the time.

I am Rhea from Philippines. I am a graduate of Bachelor Secondary major in English. I have had a 120 HOUR ONLINE TEFL/TESOL International Training Institute. I was an ESL teacher for a month (seasonal) and 6 months as a language tutor. I am currently working as a software implementation specialist/associate while doing a part-time online ESL teaching. Planning to get my IELTS this year. I saw a school in Canada that offers Diploma in Teaching English as a Second Language. May I know how many years does it take? Is it applicable for a work and study program?
I am an English teacher in Mexico, and my only certification is TESOL, which I got 30 years ago. It is a shame that a bachelor's degree is an obligatory requirement to get a job as a teacher in Canada. Papers do not substitute experience.
In Canada, what qualifications do people generally have to get this job?

Thanks for watching the video. I am not sure whether you are able to register a TESOL program during this pandemic period, but you can start TESOL/TEFL now if you can. Having a TESOL certificate and some teaching experiences are crucial factors to become an ESL teacher in Canada.

Thanks for watching my channel. To be able to work as an ESL teacher in any countries, you need at least a bachelor's degree in a related subject such as English or Education. After completing a bachelor's degree, you should get a TESOL certificate. Just having a TESOL certificate without having a degree doesn't help much you to be an ESL teacher.
If you are having a financial problem, you can apply for a student loan. Also, you can get a part time job while taking a few courses continuously. I hope this will help.

Hi Neval gosai, if you have a bachelor degree in science, you can apply to some universities to get a teaching certificate of a secondary school in Canada. It may take 1-2 years to complete the course. If you pass the practicum, you can become a math or science teacher.

There are lots of jobs but the work conditions tend to be quite poor. Some provinces are better than others though. I currently work in Montreal and the pay is shockingly bad ($17.50 an hour, no hours paid for preparation/marking - this is pretty standard here). Thankfully I am able to supplement my income in other ways, but I don't know how I'd manage if I only had to rely on ESL.
Which tefl site did u enroll? Not sure what are the legit sites for tefl. Too many of them some looks like a scam

Most schools and organizations are looking for ESL teachers who have Canadian experiences and who are familiar with Canadian culture. Hope this helps.

If you have a bachelor of science degree with some teaching experience, you can pursue to be a science teacher in Canada. First, you should complete a teacher preparation program at University. It takes about 1 year to obtain a teaching certificate. After that, you can apply to public schools to become a science teacher. I hope this helps.

Thanks for watching my channel. It is possible for nonnatives to get a teaching job in Canada with a Celta Certificate. I would say . . . It is more important to be able to deliver the content to your students effectively with creative teaching ideas and lesson plans. Of course you should have great English skills for yourself but do not have to be an English native speaker to become a teacher in Canada. If you keep trying hard, you will get it. Good luck!

I am an ESL teacher in Vietnam been teaching for 2 years. We are planning to immigrate to Canada. Do I need a college diploma because I have TEFL certificate which included a practicum and I am English. I have a BA HONNS, Would it still be easy to become an ESL teacher when I have experience. Because I could not find any job listings as an ESL teacher, and it is not listed on the immigration job lists?
In Vietnam we make Average 23USD per hr. Depends on your experience and gualifications on average most people get 1500USD per month.

If you have a bachelor degree, TEFL certificate with some teaching experience, you are ready to apply to some organizations and language institutes. You could not find any job listings as an ESL teacher because I think ESL teaching job is not much demanded at this point.
In Canada ESL instructor get paid 25- 35 CAD/ hr. I know that is not much. So after teaching a few years, you can move to a managing position. I’ve seen many people moved to a manager’s position. I hope this helps.

If you want to get an ESL teaching job in Canada, you need to have at least one or two years of teaching experience in a multicultural classroom setting after receiving TEFL certificate. Even volunteer experience in teaching would be a great asset. Hope this information is useful for you.
