I wanna get an online TEFL course. Does the course envlove a video chats with the instructors? Does it envolve a practicing the course in a real class?

I’m Salvadorian and I’m still in high school, but I want to become an English teacher, but I want to teach English in the USA, so I don’t really know what’s really required for me to have in order to become an English teacher. Well, I’ll have to figure it out this year, and your video was really helpful and interesting at the same time.

This is a great video for anybody thinking about TEFL and teaching abroad! I went with Oxford Seminars for my TEFL course. They had a class in my city and it worked out really well! It cost around the same as yours (a little less) but it was 60 hours in person and 60 hours online (although that part took me less than a week because I sprinted through it). Our practicum was designing and teaching a specific, targeted lesson plan. I'm including all this info just in case somebody stumbles across this comment and wants to do TEFL in person with Oxford! I'm kinda jelly about Vietnam... my friend and I are going to Korea, although it wasn't my first choice, just like Vietnam wasn't yours (the money rules, y'know). I really want to go to Vietnam and I'll probably end up teaching there, as well. Really glad I found your channel!

But i have a question: How do you teach someone that never speak english? Your first class is completely in english, even if the student doesn't understand any word??
Hi Gabriela! Thanks so much for making this informative video! I'm planning on enrolling in ITA's online course (because I too NEED to keep working/making money while earning my tefl) very soon and wanted to ask your opinion about something. I live in Michigan but will be in Florida for a week and then a little later Costa Rica for a week during any of the upcoming courses. I would really hate to wait to enroll until after I come home because I'm itching to start my adventure!😃 Both trips will be fairly chill as I'll be visiting family/friends who will be working during the day, so I think I'll have time each day to study. I can bring my laptop and will have an internet connection as well. I'm sure I'll speak with an ITA advisor sometime in the next week or two about this but I'm curious to hear your opinion as someone who has taken the online course and seems to have a good head on her shoulders. Is there any reason that you think going to Central America midcourse would be a bad idea? How much time per day did the course take up for you? How would you compare it to like a 4 credit hour course in college? Thanks again so much for sharing your video and I hope you're still out there somewhere teaching and living your truth!😎
Hey John! I think it's totally doable to work on the course while you travel. I remember that the beginning of the course was heavily focused on grammar, so that part took me longer. But then it became fairly easy I think. It's not as much work as a college course. It's been a while since I took it, so I'd recommend talking to an advisor to learn more. weather wise , Oct to Jan are the only months that are bearable in VN . The humidity mix with pollution are insane ! Oh yeah, it rains 7 months out of the year.

Hiii i don't know if you will read this or not.. BUT recently i wanted to keep traveling and make money while i'm at it.. i came across international TELF. I have been doing my research to see if it is a real thing.. than i came across you. I have been looking into Italy. I am a costa rican citizen , so for us its a little easier to get a working visa i guess. First of all we just need a passport to travel there. Now my question to you is... would you recommend studying here or italy? Florence has a school there, and i live close to NYC . They also have a school there.
Hey! I think it depends on if you can afford to take the course in Italy. I decided to do the online course because I needed to keep working and saving before leaving to Vietnam. But, if I could've, I would've done it in a different country. It's also a good idea for you to do it in Italy because you will be able to be there and find a job right after you finish. I've heard that in Asian countries Tefl is accepted. But in Middle East and Europe Celta is more recognized. Is this true?

In my experience, to work at the more established schools in VN you need a degree, but there are also opportunities for those that do not have a BA in Hanoi

I think in Hanoi you do- it might depend on the country
You definitely do. So many Indians are teaching English in China. But bear in mind the salary won't be as high as someone from a English speaking country. I know India's official language is English, but you know what I mean. (US, UK, CA, AU, NZ, SA)
