    For our lovely ESL teachers - we've made a video about lesson planning for online classes. Hope it's helpful! th-cam.com/video/9rua5_4PFfU/w-d-xo.html

    Thanks so much for this video! I've thought about becoming an ESL teacher for a little while and this was really helpful! Really appreciated your acknowledgement that teaching ESL in a way contributes to colonization, but also that language acquisition is so empowering. An important conversation and something I'm struggling with too

    I'm in my 50's. Am I too old to pursue a career as an ESL teacher?

    • @BreatheEnglish
      @BreatheEnglish  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely not! If anything, your life experience will add even more to your teaching. And some students prefer a teacher who is a little older (also, many students are in their 50's and 60's). Go for it!

    This is great info. I'm working on my TESOL certificate and have a bachelor's degree. My career goal is to teach adult esl online or in a classroom.

    I am a coming college student who want to become an ESL teacher after graduate, is there any advice for the majors? thank you Darling!

      There are lots of options for ESL teaching licenses and certificates. If teaching in Europe or British system, a CELTA certificate is great. TEFL and TESOL are common in many parts of the world. Think about where you want to teach, get some experience, and choose the best training program. Good luck!

    Hi , my question to you is if ı say, at school , ı learned to speak english . I Think at school modifies the verb learned . insead, if ı say, ı learned to speak english at school . I think at school modifies the infinitive to speak . Also there is a bit difference in terms of meaning.
    Thanks in advance

    • @BreatheEnglish
      @BreatheEnglish  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      "at school" is not modifying the verb. "learned" is in the past tense, and you only change one verb to past tense, so "to speak" remains in the infinitive form.

    Thanks for the great video! How do you go about learning video editing, adding graphics, and all the stuff you have to know in order to make videos? It seems overwhelming where to even begin!

    • @BreatheEnglish
      @BreatheEnglish  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Shaye, thanks for watching! I learned and am still learning video editing on TH-cam : ) I use Final Cut Pro, and literally just search for how to do whatever specific thing I need to do at that moment. I also use Motion to make some custom text. I think the channel Justin Brown- Primal Video is a good channel to start on.

    You have a wonderful disposition! Im teaching a high beginner low intermediate speaking class on zoom-very challenging, as my experience is with upper level. Would love to hear any tips or tricks you have. Thank you.

      Thank you so much for watching! I definitely struggle teaching beginners online. I have them do lots of pair work in breakout rooms and try to keep each activity to 15 minutes or less since it's hard for beginners to hold their concentration more than that. I made this video highlighting some of my fav resources th-cam.com/video/SP-ihAQlmFc/w-d-xo.html Good luck!

    I have a question what bachelor or degree do you need to become an ESL teacher?

    • @BreatheEnglish
      @BreatheEnglish  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You only need a degree if you want to teach K-12 ESL in schools. The degree you need depends on what state you're in (if you're in the US). If you want to teach adults or teach abroad, you can often just get a TEFL certificate or some other equivalent certificate.

    • @JackieBolen
      @JackieBolen 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want to make ESL a career, the best degree is something like an MA TESOL or a degree in education.
